Also, some web page links are failing except that some will work if i use right-click with open in new tab. just updated ffx to 3.6.13, then updated java per mozilla notification (plugin checker)

Thanks...that was one of the things I first tried. I did a save as another document.
I also resized the image in PS so it would be at 100% of size, figuring that would help and I made the image box's background white instead of none, but nothing so far.
It almosat seems like it is coming from the origianl template file?

Accessing links embedded in email messages fails on an iPad

Our iPad 2 can't open web links embedded in email messages from NY Times, Alternet, and other sites. Error messages is "Website is not available" or "Can't access server". Internet access works otherwise. Problem is the same regardless of whether IOS Gmail app or Apple Mail app is used. It also doesn't seem to matter which browser is used (we've tried Chrome and Safari).

Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

Links received in email messages not clickable in Firefox

When a web address beginning with http:// is included in the body of an email message it does not show up as a clickable link in Firefox When the identical message is read using Outlook web access on a PC (running IE) the same address does appear as a clickable link.

One possible reason for differences between messages viewed in Firefox would be the format the sender used. For example, HTML and plain text messages may behave differently. In HTML, the link actually is in the message sent by the sender. In plain text, there are no links, but the desktop version of Outlook finds them and makes them clickable. Perhaps the same is true of the "Premium" version of OWA served to IE. Other browsers have long been second class citizens...
Maybe there is an add-on that fills in the missing functionality?

I keep getting the message on iTunes that my Shuffle (which is current on updates) needs to be restored. It is showing up in devices, but when I try to add songs to it, I don't get the little progress bar showing me that the song is being added. ***?

I updated to the new iTunes last week. Today I plugged in my 4th generation Shuffle to add some new songs. The shuffle appears in Devices, but when I try to add songs, I'm not getting the progress bar at the top of the screen, so I'm assuming the song isn't being added. I tried ejecting the Shuffle and plugging it in again, and I got a message that my iPod needed to be restored before it could be used with iTunes -- even though the screen also said the Shuffle is up to date on the software. I finally gave in and restored it, but I continue to get the same message. When I eject the iPod and try to play it now, I'm getting nothing, and when it is connected to the usb port, the orange light is continually flashing. I've been trying to figure this out for about 3 hours now, so if anyone could help me, I'd be eternally grateful!

The 1st and 2nd gen shuffles do not have an automatic syncing mode, like later shuffles and the "big" iPods. It is maintained manually (or by using the Autofill feature).
If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. The shuffle appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES, when connected.
To add songs to the shuffle... Show a list of songs in the iTunes window. For example, you can select Music under LIBRARY (in the sidebar) to show your complete iTunes music library list. Select a song and drag it to the shuffle in the sidebar. You can do this with more than one song selected. Alternately, select the song(s), right-click the selection, and choose the command to Add to Playlist -> [name of iPod].
To remove songs from the shuffle... Select the shuffle in the sidebar. To the right, it's Settings screen is shown. Toward the top, where it says Settings, click on On This iPod (to the right). The list of songs on the shuffle is shown below. Select the song you want to remove and press Delete on the keyboard. You can do this with more than one song selected.
NOTE: At the bottom of the shuffle's list of songs, there are controls for the Autofill feature. You can also use Autofill to fill your shuffle from your music library or from a specific playlist.

In Firefox 4, how do I get back the context menu for the drop down list of the Location Bar so I can Open Link in New Tab, which I did often in FF 3?

Firefox 3 has a context menu for the drop down list of
the Location Bar. One option on this menu I used often
is "Open Link in New Tab" -- quite convenient.
This context menu has disappeared in Firefox 4.
Can I get it back?

The "Use custom settings for history" setting allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting that setting doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings. 
Firefox shows the "Use custom settings for history" setting as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made. 
If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".

New url not displaying in location bar when clicking on a link

This is a peculiar issue I have just noticed. Since upgrading to FF v4.0 RC1, It seems whenever I click on a link either in a webpage or in a google search (even opening a bookmarked link), when the new page opens, the url of the new page does not appear in the location bar. Instead, the previous page's url still shows in the location bar.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Links will not work in websites accessed via FireFox, but work with Chrome and IE.

This happens randomly. If I open a webpage for something like a news site and they offer a slideshow of information, the carat/ arrow (like this >) wont take me to the next slide. I have looked through settings and reloaded firefox several times. I have tried updating all my apps, though that page has its own issues I dont have time for here. Nothing seems to work.
Usually, the page just sits there, static. The next page arrow is active, it highlights when I mouse over it, but it wont activate when selected.
This has been a problem for quite a while, at least over the last two upgrades.

Links in emails (Thunderbird) do not open in Firefox 16.0.1

Installed 16.0.1 today. Links in emails used to open as a new tab, now they open in a new window and only as a blank page. I reconfirmed both FF and TB as default, yet the problem persists.

Never mind. Updated Tab Mix Plus and problem resolved.

I work a long list. Each line has a link that I click on to work. I then click submit. It does not return to the last line worked. Goes to the begining.

I go to the Insurance Auto Auction website to access a list of vehicles up for auction. When using "explorer" I can follow the link and set a bid value then click submit. It will return me to the last position on one the list. Firefox will sometimes doe this too but more often than not it brings me back to the top of the list. When I am looking at 300 units this becomes very frustrating.

Try opening each link in a new Tab, and when you're done with each Tab, close it. The "list" page will be sitting exactly where you left it, ''unless that page did an automatic refresh to add newer information while you were viewing a different tab.''

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. There are a few things that you could try.
1, closing the iTunes via the taskbar and seeing if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with the iTunes app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iTunes app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
2, a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.
3, logging out of your account on the iPhone by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then logging back in.

Trying to download Adobe Flash, getting message to turn off Firefox, but how do I turn it off?

I hate to sound like an idiot, but I don't know how to turn off Firefox.

Save the Flash installer to the desktop and close Firefox via File > Exit or Firefox > Exit.
Then run the Flash installer with a double lick on that desktop icon. 
You may need to use "Run as Administrator" via the right-click context menu of that file.

When I copy paste an image onto a word document i only get a link?

This only happens with Word and Power Point. I starte having this issues yesterday, before I never had a porblem with copying and pasting images from the internet.
