A little story any ideas?

Hi guys
Put this new system together about 4 weeks ago, I had one problem at the start which was the system kept rebooting, or it would crash with the blue screen of death.
I realised that if I disconnected my DVD RW everything worked OK.
I’m big into games BF1942 and now BF2, played BF1942 for many hours the first day the system was running, everything worked great, stable as a rock and running fine.
Next day I thought I would update the bios to see if that would help with the DVD RW problem, flashed from 1.3 to 1.5, this did not solve the DVD RW problem but I now know that  this is caused by the nvidia IDE drivers, use the old windows driver and it works fine. Everything seemed to be okay until I go to play BF1942 or BF2, they just lockup the computer usually on the menu screens, I load up a couple of other games doom3 seems okay but farcry demo just locks up. I’m pulling my hair out for 2 days not knowing whats wrong, and trying all sorts of things different graphics drivers, used memtest which tested okay, then I lower the memory timing from 200mhz to 180mhz, this works the games are not that stable but they work.
Then I read the overclocking guide on this forum, it gets me thinking about the HT multiplier, so I reduce this from 5 to 4 put the memory back to 200mhz and everything works fine, and stable again, I had also replaced my PSU with this one Enermax Noisetaker 485W EG495AX-VE, I have to say I did this before I adjusted the HT and it made no difference.
I came home yesterday from work start up the computer, and everything in the bios has gone back to its default setting? so I set it back to my previous settings, but for some reason BF2 and 1942 have gone back to not working I just cannot understand this, I see that the 1.6 bios is on the live update so I update, but this makes no difference, so I set the HT down to 3 this does not work I set this back to 4 and set the memory again down to 180mhz this works.
Anybody got any ideas why these problems are happening, I know the geil memory is value but it still meant to be pretty good.

With some systems, Cable Select works fine, and others...it can lead to hangs. Do try configuring them with a Master/Slave set-up just to see if that clears up any glitches.
