A lot of calls from unknown numbers

Hi There,
although my privacy settings only allow calls/contact from my contacts, I recieve a lot of calls from unknown numbers. I suspect somebody has put my user in his forwarding settings. How I can block these calls?
Best regards!

  • Blocking calls from Unknown numbers?

    Hello all,
Is there any option/application in iPhone 4S, IOS6.1.3 where I  can block any calls from unknown numbers?
Specifying exactly, I want to receive calls from people only those whose numbers are saved in my phone or say Saved Contacts Only.
Nobody other than that should be able to call me.
That would be of a great help.

  • Getting calls from blocked numbers

I have been receiving phone calls from a blocked number, is there any way to find out who it is? I know when someone blocks there number on a landline you can *69 and call the number back can you do that with a cell phone?

Hey there, barkar! Although it's been a while, I recall a period of time when I would get calls from blocked numbers. It can be very upsetting! I wish I could say that there's a way to see beyond those blocks, but the very purpose of the blocks is to protect the caller's privacy (even if that protection may come at the expense of the peace of mind of those being called). The best advice I can offer is to just not answer calls from individuals you either don't recognize or don't expect. Let them roll to voicemail. Must legitimate calls will leave you a message with their intentions stated.
And, if they become too much to handle, you do have the option to change your mobile number free of charge through My Verizon. Good luck to you!

  • Blocking calls from restricted numbers

There needs to be an option to block restricted numbers from calling you. All I can find is where you can block specific numbers, but that specific number can still call you simply by putting a block on their number. That defeats the purpose of offering that option...

YouMail is a free voicemail service that gives you a workaround for dealing with restricted or blocked numbers.  It's called "DitchMail" - when it sees a blocked or restricted number, the caller gets a recorded message (yours, or DitchMail's default) saying that you do not accept calls from blocked numbers, please unblock and try again - and then it hangs up without giving the caller an opportunity to leave a message.
It doesn't prevent the call from coming in - but it does deal with it so you don't have to.  If you see a blocked number coming in, you can always hit End or Ignore, sending them straight to VM or DitchMail.

  • How can we encourage Apple to develop blocking calls from specific numbers?

Looking through posts on here, I see that neither AT&T nor the iPhone itself permits an iPhone owner to block calls from one or more specific numbers.
For some reason, although I've had my mobile number for years, I've recently started to receive daily calls from one specific number, an ignorant person who calls at all times of the day and night, barely apologizing for yet again dialing incorrectly. Very annoying.
Yes, I know I could change my number, but literally hundreds of people have used this number for years, and I'm truly loathe to start over.
In reading posts here and on AT&T, I gather this is not an uncommon problem. I assume that even if AT&T is unwilling to institute call blocking, this is a problem Apple could solve with iPhone software. What's the best way to encourage Apple to include this in a future iPhone software update?
In advance, thanks for your guidance.

This would be something ATT would have to do since they provide the actual phone service.
In the meantime, you could create a ringtone of "silence" and assign it to that person's number. This way you wouldn't be disturbed when the person calls until you can work out a solution with ATT.

Does anyone know how to block income calls from numbers unidentified?

  • HT5463 Can you block calls from certain numbers

Can you block calls from certain numbers

You can also make a contact for those numbers and assign a silent
ringtone to them. The calls will still come in, but you will not hear them
and they will eventually go to vocie mail if you have it set up.
You must do this for each number as wildcards are not accepted in
Contacts, but all the numbers can be listed in one contact.
As Ocean20 has stated above, true call blocking is a function of
    your wireless provider.

  • Blocking call from some numbers in Black berry 9220

I want to know how to block calls from a specific number. I would also like to block SMS from the number.
I would like to know what kind of app is available for black berry 9220 for the same. Can experts please suggest.

There are some options under Settings >Firewall. Open the Settings menu and type Firewall in the search bar. There you can block text messages. Be aware that you will still be charged for the message over the network but the device won't display the message. To keep from being charged for the message you'd need to contact your wireless service provider.
As for phone number blocking you would have to go to Phone >Options. There is a call blocking feature but your provider must support it.

  • Permanent calls from unknown caller named "gb.d.he...

    Hello Skype Team,
I hope this finds you well.
Recently I am getting again frequent skype calls from a recipient with the ID gb.d.help. When I pick up the call I hear a recorded computer voice that tells my computer system is not safe against viruses and I should go immediately to [invalid URL] and register.
This sounds to me as a scam and I do not really know how to handle this information. Fortunately I still did not register with this service or program?! I tried to search on the internet regarding reviews on this website called helplo, yet I did not find any additional information.
Anyhow I would like to know if this is a notice from Skype sent out to users or simply an unrelated scam.
    Kind Regards,
    Fukuokarai

  • Client-side recording doesn't save calls from hidden numbers

    Hi, everyone!
I discovered that when using CSR with BCM 7.0.6.100 the calls with hidden source numbers aren't recorded.
I was trying to figure out why the sum of all of client's recordings and the sum showed in reports differed and happened across this little bit of knowledge.
I might have missed the fact when reading the manuals, so I'm sharing the knowledge just in case someone else is tracking down the same problem.
    Best wishes,
    Jaanus

How can I prompt Apple to consider this in a future software update?
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.
Keep in mind that forwarding is not done from the phone - the phone is merely transmitting the info to the carrier's server. But I agree - it could be easier to select a number!

  • NO RINGTONE WHEN CALLED FROM SOME NUMBERS.

I've switched to an iPhone only recently. I decided to drop the landline. I've noticed that when some people call me, I get no ringing. It pops on, but no sound comes out. The ID says "Blocked", and I have to be right there to happen to SEE the call coming in. What causes this?

    What version of iOS?
Do you have a "Blocked" contact?  If so, what is the ringtone set to?

  • DND deny call from all contacts

    Hello there!
I'm expecting a call from an unknoown number from a country with a completely different time zone. I want to use the DND function the otherway around. Allow me to silence all calls from my contact list, and at the same time, allow calls from unknown/blocked numbers. Is that possible?
    Any help would be appreciated!

I'm a little afraid to sync the iPhone since I don't want to lose my contacts anywhere else.
Address Book > File > Export > Address Book Archive...
    then you can't lose anything.

  • Not sure if being scammed. Many calls from urgent...

Since I've been on skype (a couple of months) I've been alerted about a call coming in, sometimes in the middle of the night, about "SystemTM - Urgent Online Alert" or variations on that. " "System notice - Urgent online repair" four times. " System notice - Urgent online maintenance".  There has been a barrage of them.  I don't answer them, I decline.  I didn't realize you can block them.  I do now but wonder if I should be reporting them as abuse?  I'm new to Skype and not sure if this is supposed to be happening.  Also I get a lot of calls from people I don't know or at least people asking if they can call me.  I have no idea who they are so now I block them but again should I report them?  Do people just sit out there and fish for someone to contact?  There seems to be a lot of that happening and it's annoying at best.  Are these alerts/calls legitimate?  What should I do?

if you think applicable in your case, you can also set your privacy settings to allow call and IMs from people who are in your contact list only.
