A minor helpful tip - Convertion of TV Tuner audio output from on-board sc to SB Live! 24 bit

Hi guys,
Many of you might had known about it but I just would like to share my tiny knowledge here with those who might has the same problem when they upgrade their on-board sc to SB Li've! 24 bit sc.
If you have a on-borad sound card, and if you decided to but a new SB Li've! 24 bit sc and then you might find that all audio are OK after installing the SB Li've! 24 bit sc except sound/audio from your TV tuner !!! . . the TV sound is MUTED!
Firstly, there is this tiny Audio Cable connected from your TV tuner card to a 4-pin input-jumper somewhere on the motherborad (since it's a on-borad sc, you might not find it on the on-board sc or next to it). Please note that my on-board sc is refering to my On-board Realtek AC97 Audio sc as for my case. You might have a different on-borad sc, but generally the setup is more or less the same.
After installing your SB Li've! 24 bit sc, make sure you re-direct this tiny Audio Cable from TV tuner card to the 4-pin Audio input jumper of you SB Li've! 24 bit sc.
Then, go to your WindowsXp Sound control property, UN-MUTE the Auxiliary.
Then, go to your TV software program to configure the AUDIO SOURCE to Auxiliary.
Tada . . you got the sound/audio from TV. Now. . you can surf the net or do your work while enjoy your TV program at the top of the screen!!
I hope this help!

Latest....
After reinserting the ATI card, I was not able to test before driver installation due to low resolution video.
I tested after installing the latest ATI driver and still had zero SCP issues.
I then uninstalled the original driver from the SB Li've CD and reinstalled the latest driver from filename SB24_WEB64_LB__04_0055
SCP is BACK!
This DOES seem to indicate a major change in the Creative drivers from original issue to current issue that are not in spec.
My SB Li've model # is SB040.
The information from the p7.inf file on my CD is as follows.....
; Apache INF file
; Models : SB030, SB032, SB0399, SB037, SB043, SB040
; Feature : Enhanced (WDM)
; Language : English
; Date : 04 Jun 2004

Perhaps the Creative team can examine any changes between this driver and the current version to see what's going on.
Hope this helps some of the rest of you out there in SCP City!

  • Help!!  No AUDIO output from iMac through FW to mixing board (zed r16)

With my system stated below, I run an Allen-Heath ZED R16 board via FW. PROBLEM: I get NO Audio output to the R16 when I play iTunes or DVD/CDs in the iMac.
I DO get audio feed when I playback projects from Logic.
I have checked all System Prefs on the iMac (cahnged to the ZED); on Logic (changed to the ZED). I tried all different channels, routing, etc. NOTHING.
    Can someone help?

Well, the Allen-Heath support site had the answer... quite surprised and pleased!!
Have to reconfigure the iMac speakers in the Audio/Midi preferences. The details are found in this URL:

The ZED R16 is a great board but certainly not Plug' n Play.

  • Help! 2nd gen. ipod nano audio output not balanced

anyone knows what the problem of my ipod nano? while i was listening suddenly there was no audio output on the right earphone. i restarted it at least 5 times, even changed to another earphone. then after a few hours i tried to test it again and the right earphone works again but volume is much lower than the left earphone.
i dropped it at least about 2 months ago, could it be the cause?
will apple warranty work on my unit?

First off, be sure that you've fulle connected the headphones/ear buds to the iPod correctly. I know it's a simple thing, but sometimes is accidentally looked over, and can be the cause of this type of issue.
Next, I wold suggest that you restore your iPod.
If a restore doesn't help, and you're iPod is still under the 1-year warranty, I would suggest that you send your iPod in to get it repaired/replaced. Apple could possibly cover for it witht he warranty (although I can't guarantee it).
You can place an iPod service request online here -> iPod Service
Most likely, if a restore doesn't help your situation, then it's an internal sound problem with the iPod that will have to be replaced by Apple.

  • Help with converting image to B&W apart from a single area/item??

    Hello
I am new to Adobe and have downloaded the trial version of Master Collection. No idea what it's all about but have a month to work it out!!
What I would like to know how to do (hopefully I can explain it!) is to convert a picture to black and white apart from a single object i.e. a wedding photo of a couple in black and white but his flower on the lapel is in it's original colour.
Can this be done in any of the Master Collection programs and if so, can anyone explain in laymans terms how I do it please and if I first need to make sure my picture has been taken correctly i.e. if it needs to be in raw format?
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me and who has the patience to explain it to me very basically!!

    Photoshop: View> Actual Pixels
use Lasso Tool (press L key) to draw a selection around part you want to maintain color
    Select> Modify> Feather (1 pixel)
then Command+J (Mac), or Layer> New> Layer via Copy
(this copies your selection to a new layer)
in Layers Pallet, select your original Layer
then Command+J (Mac), or Layer> New> Layer via Copy
to make a backup copy of your original layer
now your copy layer should be highlighted in Layers Pallet
Image> Adjustments> Black & White (should Desaturate the Layer and leave your colored selection on top)....
The Layers and History look like this:
Of course there are many ways to do this...google for tutorials...you may want to post in the Photoshop forum since this is not a colormanagement issue...

  • Help trying to record a VM audio message from my Blackberry 8100 to my PC.

I'm trying to save a voice mail message from my Blackberry to my PC.I was told that if I used Phantom Cable Male2.5mm to Male3.5mm, that I would be able to simply plug it in to my ear phone jack on my blackberry and my Audio Line-In jack on my PS and then use my recording software to capture the sound from my phone. For some reason, the sound does not appear to be going through the cable. When I plug it in to the phone, I can still hear the sound clearly through the normal ear speaker on the phone. It seems the phone is not recognizing the cable. Someone has said that this may be due to the my cable being a stereo to stereo cable and the the Blackberry may use a 4 conductor jack for the earpice. Can anyone shed any light on this, or at least give me a suggestion of how I can transfer an audio message from my blackberry to my pc?
    Kind regards,
    Mike

Go to http://www.cbwproductions.com/vwclientsorder.html. It's $10 for the first voicemail you want recorded and $5 for each additional voicemail, but if you really want the voicemail saved, it's definitely worth it!

  • Need urgent help for solving issue with my audio output.

It seems that all of sudden my integrated speakers started to make buzzing sound for a minute of a sec. and the sound comes randomly only during playback.  Same thing also happens even on headphone. So any suggestions? Why it is happening??

    Hi
Try to update the driver from hp.com website for Audio & Bios.
Last step is to run a recovery on the unit before this please back up your data as it will be lost.
If still does not work speaker on the unit has gone bad needs to be replaced.
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the speaker replaced.
Let us know how it goes!

  • Help hooking up MSI 6 channel audio-output riser card and DTT2500

    Hi guys,
I'm having trouble here. I originally had my SBLive hooked up to my DTT2500 speakers (yeah I know, overpriced POS) through a 2.5mm-->DIN(9pin) jack. The SBLive has a 2.5mm spdif out on it. Now I swapped to an Nforce board and I'm using the onboard MCP audio. I used the CNR riser card (picture below) thinking this would be an easy switch. But unfortunately things don't go that well for me. Turns out that the SPDIF on the Riser is an RCA spdif out, not 2.5mm. So, my question is, how do I hook up:
    SPDIF RCA OUT----->2.5mm
    .....or.................
    SPDIF RCA OUT----->9pin Digital DIN
Any ideas??? The SPDIF is the bottom jack of the 3 in the picture below, right????

I'm gonna try this again while our friend here shows an illustration and I can elaborate. Sorry to crash this thread but I see an opportunity here, and someone else may benefit from it as well.
I too gave up and switched to the SB live becuase I like sound coming out of all 4 speakers of my Altec lansing 4.1 analog system.
    1. Does this mean that I can switch back and use the jack on the CNR card for the rear speaker connector since I have only two plugs from my AL's.
    2. Do I now have control over the 4 speakers or is it the same as before where you can only hear sound out of four speakers when it is encoded for it?
    3. finally, (see illustration) the wire loop/connector that connects the CNR card to the MB, shows it is connected at the header behind the SPDIF Jack (it comes that way).
    A. Do I need to leave it there or move it to the header behind one of the other jacks for ANALOG???? or will it work the way it is?
I tried bringing this up in the old forum in my early days but it seems it was overlooked. I moved on and got my SB LIVE...yeah I know, but I just can't do without 4 speaker sound, not just a mirror image for the rear.
I don't want to have to shell out another 200 beans for a new speaker system...yet
So does anyone have any experience relating to the questions I have asked? ?(  ?(  ?(

  • Help!  Something freakish has happened to my audio output

I have no clue what I've done, but suddenly I am only getting audio output from odd numbered tracks on my timeline.
There is no problem with the source audio, it's fine, I checked it.
What should be happening is that Track 1 (and all subsequent odd numbered tracks) come out of my left speaker, and Track 2 (and all even tracks) out of my right speaker. ie dual mono.
Suddenly I'm getting Track 1/odd tracks out of both speakers, and Track 2/even tracks out of none.
This is probably something hyper simple and obvious but I have no clue what it is. I even tried trashing the Prefs and fiddling with user settings. Changing User Prefs: Audio Output: Default Stereo Prefs (it's normally on a custom dal mono setting) makes no difference at all.
Please please someone help because it is going to be an absolute nightmare only working from alternate tracks.
    Dual 2.5ghz G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   4gb RAM, 250gb HD

Thank you - I did check that - but it wasn't that. After rebooting and preferences trashing multiple times and even buying new speakers, I finally found out what it was.
In the Apple System Preferences: Hardware: Sound: Output the Balance was set to left. I have absolutely no idea how this occurred, I didn't even know this setting existed and I hadn't accessed any system preferences for days. The sound "vanishing" happened mid-edit - one moment I was working on the timeline, the next half the sound had gone. I do have some memories of the speakers crackling, but I don't know if it was around the same time or not. The (old) speakers are working absolutely fine now the Balance is set back to the middle.
So I can only assume there is some very very obscure key combination that I inadvertently pressed that changes the system audio output balance. Or another application such as iTunes messed with it. It remains a mystery, but thankfully things are back to normal!

From what I've seen in my brief search, you need to go the ActiveX route.

  • PLEA. HELP -Profes. Way to route Audio back to L8 from Slave

    HI,
Ok: Here we go... can somebody please help me in setting up my Audio Signals from the Slaves back into Logic 8??
Now - I will go over and gather up what "insane" Information/Problems I have read about in the last days (Every day from Morning to Evening) and about my own conclusions because of my own testing with latencies...
Please (with all understanding) of the mentioned problems... How do you actually manage to route Audio Back from Slave Pcs into Logic 8 ?? What Latency are you able to use ??
    Lets Start:
    My simplified setup:
Main: MacbookPro Logic 8 with RME Fireface 800 (it has 2 Adats Stereo In/Out) and One SPDIF Digital
Slaves: Slave PC (M-Audio Delta Series)
Currently I only have a Slave PC hooked up with my Macbook Pro - Logic 8 sends Midi via IpMidi and gets Audio back from the Slave via Digital Spdif. I always have to delay the midi in EACH TRACK a little bit forward (1/64) Note in order to compensate the latency of my Slave PC (M-Audio at 512Samples)
I figured that the Latency of the Slave Audio would be the Latency of my Slave Audio Card + that of my Main Audio Card - Fireface 800 (they are both set to 512) ... That would add together to about 22ms of delay...Did I do the math right??
General List of "crazy" Problems to consider for this Connection:
    General Understanding:
The Audio from my Slaves has to go back into Logic, in order to get everything in Sync. In this way Logic has all Signals needed to calculate latencies (caused by plugIns)
    1. OK Lets say I want to route Audio back from My slave into Logic using the EXTERNAL INSTRUMENT PLUGIN:
    - the EXTINST is not suited for Multitimbral (Multiple Midi Channels) Instruments (I use Kontakt 2 on my Slave)
    - I can not handle any Midi Volume Faders from it to control Kontakt on Slave
    - Insert Effects arent't compensated (although in PDS Mode for "Audio and Instruments" ) Workaround to this : - Using the Fx on a connected Bus - THATS CRAZY!.
External Instrument PLUGIN is therefore not suited.
    2. OK Lets try routing via an Multiinstrument (Midi) and Audio Routing Back into Logic via an Aux Channel with the proper Inputs set:
    - well, this works a lot better (Midi is more convenient), but I always have to correct the latency caused by my slave PC by draging the Midi forward.
    3. Ok. Lets use the Latency Fixer PlugIN from Expert Sleepers to fix it:
    - Well in PDC Mode for "Audio and Instruments" (where I am supposed to Record everything in and play from my keyboard) it does of course NOT WORK .....
    - Only when setting it to PDC "Full Mode" it is effecitve ... but than I can not record Midi in Sync .... What is that???
    - in Other Words Using the Latency Fixer Plugin I Would have to switch back an forth in the PDC Mode:
    - PDC Audio Instr & Tracks ON When Recording / PDC Full ON to take advantage of the Latency Fixer PlugIn during playback --- THAT CAN`T BE IT!!!
Ok - I am not getting anywhere. Summing it all up:
The best solution I found so far:
-Using Aux Channels with proper Input for the Audio coming back from Slaves (Via SPDIF or Adat (lightpipe) )
    - reduce Latency by dragging each track forward (midi Delay to negative value)
Quick note to the programmers (But I guess nobody will read it or care):
Sorry programmers - What the heck are you programming ?? - Can't you just sum up the Problems on a list like I did and find proper Solutions ??? I don't want Logic 8 REMASTERED, I want Logic 10 Surpassed !!!
I can Imagine its hard wok -- but this is your JOB. Mine is composing...
I Don't have time sitting several hours a day searching for PROBLEMS and NO REALLY GOOD SOLUTIONS. I really would enjoy composing once in a while...
SO PLEASE: The next time want to make a new Logic, think of IMPORTANT PROBLEMS !!!!!!!
Don't just paint the ape like a human. If you want it to become a "smart " sapient, you'll have to work on it.
If somebody has the same procedure or a better way, I would like to know about it. Please report also if you know how really professional Studios are doing this...
I am about to buy 2 more professional soundcards for more slaves, and I would like to know how to connect everything together with logic.
Cheers and thanks for all upcoming answers and for reading this novel :))...

    Please nobody ?

    Tip No. 1 Battery Tips..
    https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/product_page/faqs/p/30,6720,8417
Rechargeable batteries have a limited number of charge cycles and will naturally degrade over time. You've probably experienced this with other battery-powered products - you find yourself charging the battery more often as the charge just doesn't seem to hold as often as it once did. Eventually, you may need to replace the internal battery.
There are a couple of things you can do before replacing the battery. Sometimes it's a matter of changing a few settings that will ensure you're getting all the power you can from your battery. Motorola Customer Service can help you with this process over the phone.
    Before you call:
We recommend that you completely deplete the battery by allowing the device to completely shut down when the battery has depleted.
Once your product shuts down, plug it into the charger that came in the original box, and allow it to charge to 100%.
Once you've completed this charging cycle, call Motorola Support at 800-734-5870, and the team will diagnose your battery, and recommend setting changes or actions. If your battery does need to be replaced, we offer two battery replacement options:
The battery only replacement program lets you send your product to Motorola so that we can replace the battery and return the device back to you. If your device is within the warranty period there is no charge for this service. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $49 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back approximately 5 business days from the time we receive the device.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.
With the expedited battery replacement program, for an extra charge we'll provide you with a FedEx label to return your product. If your device is within the warranty period the charge for this service is $19 plus applicable taxes. If your device is outside of the warranty period, the cost of this service is $69 plus applicable taxes.
You can expect to receive the device back 3 days after we receive the unit.  Use our online repair submission process to get going.

Things you should know about your battery
This product uses a non-removable battery. The battery should only be replaced by a Motorola-approved service facility. Any attempt to remove or replace your battery may damage the product.
The DROID RAZR MAXX is feature-rich and can run a virtually limitless number of applications, making it useful for many tasks. Your particular usage will affect how long you can go before recharging your battery.  Playing games, running applications, and surfing the Web increase the power use of the computer-like functions of the DROID RAZR MAXX. Calling and texting utilize its phone functions.  Depending on your use mix, time between charges will vary. We know you want to use the device to its fullest and offer you these tips to help you get the most from your phone while going as long as possible between charges.
New batteries are not fully charged. Plug the battery charger into your phone and an electrical outlet. Your phone might take several seconds to start charging the battery. Charging time from 0% takes approx. 5.5 hours.
    Tips:
It is recomended to use a wall charger to charge the phone instead of USB cable plugged in to a computer.
It may take several charging cycles for your battery to reach optimum performance.
If your device is completely discharged, it may take several minutes for the device to begin charging.
Ensure you are using a Motorola specific charger. Other chargers might take longer to charge your battery, or cause your calls to fail during charging.
    Tips to extend battery life:
During initial set up of your Google and social networking account, your phone's battery may drain faster than usual due to the amount of data transferred. After the initial sync, and a few charging cycles, your battery will reach its maximum capacity. We strongly recommend to keep the phone attached to the charger during the initial sync.
See where you power is going: Tap Home > Menu >  Settings > Battery information > Battery use.
When setting the phone down after use, quickly press the power key to invoke a blank screen. Selecting a shorter back light duration will also help conserve power by blanking the screen when not in use.
Lower the display brightness. Set Brightness to Automatic or low: Tap Home > Settings > Display >Brightness
Set Screen timeout to 1 minute or less: Tap Home > Settings > Display > Screen Timeout
Turn animation off: Tap Home > Settings > Display > Animation > No animation

How does my screen lock and unlock features work with the Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) upgrade?

Face Unlock - lets you unlock your phone by looking at it. This is the least secure lock option.
Pattern - lets you draw a simple pattern with your finger to unlock the phone. This is slightly more secure than Face Unlock.

Password - requires four or more letters or numbers. This is the most secure option, as long as you create a strong password.
