A missing application on dock?

There is a gray question mark "? Spaces" On Dock of the Desktop, where and how do I get it back?
Much Thanks!

Spaces is in the Applications/Utilities/ folder.
You can open that folder in a Finder window. Find icon called Spaces. Drag it from the window to the Dock to the left side of the vertical line, then drop it where you want to put it. You can drag the existing +question mark+ off the Dock.
But you don't really need to have Spaces on the Dock. I find it more convenient to use the keyboard to activate Spaces and switch between spaces. You can set up the keyboard shortcuts in System Preferences +Exposé & Spaces+ pane Spaces tab.

Thanks Paul; but, taking your suggestion didn't solve the problem.  As mail is part of the OS, the updates don't have the capacity to reinstall applications; so, I had to reinstall the OS.  I now have my mail back (although it didn't appear on the dock--I had to go to applications and activate it and then put it back in the dock.  Thanks again for trying.

    Suhas,
After you registered your application as a SSO partner application did you use the information from Oracle SSO (home URL, success URL, Logout URL, app_name etc) and loaded it into the APEX_SSO schema using the regapp.sql script from the ssosdk?

  • Missing application icons after upgrade to 2.0

Missing application icons after upgrading to 2.0. Tetris, Clock and Voice recording icons are missing. Looks like the applications are still installed but they are not showing up with all the other icons.
There is absolutely nothing in the help about restoring icons.
Any ideas as to how I can get these missing icons to display again?
    Thanks.

    Great! Where was it?

  • Upload Error: Missing Application Descriptor File

    Hi,
I keep getting an error when trying to upload my AIR 2.5 app, specifically, "missing application descriptor file".  I've double checked the proper XML format for 2.5, as well as checking its location by changing AIR extension to ZIP, etc.  The application.xml file is in the proper format and location.
Any clues as to why this upload error is occurring?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
When uploading an application, the validation looks for the file "META-INF/AIR/application.xml". Is this where your application descriptor resides?
If your problem persists, we can help troubleshoot if you provide us with your AIR application.
    Thanks,
    Christine

  • Missing application web.xml

    hi,
tomcat loads my application but then does not recognise the web.xml file i have placed in WEB-INF folder of my application, resulting in:
missing application web.xml, using defaults only.
can anyone tell me how to go about resolving this.
    Cheers,
    dswill

If you are using the application which uses web.xml data then if your application is getting loaded then that means that it is using your web.xml.
But you r saying that it is using some defaults. so please check whether there is some comments continued and not allowed to using your tags.ie., whether our code is commented.

  • Missing applications too..

    Please Help:
Like another poster here, my BB is also missing applications...  It does not have the "Memos", "Tasks" or browser apps, nor does it have the Setup icon for web/e-mail services.  I've tried searching the disk that came with the unit, and also looked onlie; all to no avail.  I've looked in the options/advanced options/applications list but, unlike the other poster, my device does not even have the applications loaded.  And, when I launch the Desktop Manager software, there are no aplications (third-parth or otherwise) listed in the loader screen.  I really want to use this for work, but without memos, e-mail and web browsing.
Would someone please direct me (post a link, etc.) to where one can obtain these applications?
    Cheers!  - Dr. S.

From where did you purchase the device? Did you subscribe for BlackBerry data plan? You can reinstall the Tasks, memo or other missing apps. Go to your carrier download site and download your handheld OS. Install it and  use application loader with your desktop manager.

  • My Applications Folder seems to have gone missing from my dock.  I can see it in the finder window but can't get it back to my dock.  Any help would be appreciated!

I can see the Application folder in the Finder window but can't seem to get it back on to my dock.
Any help would be appreciated it!

Close all windows and quit all applications.
Launch Finder by clicking the Finder icon in the Dock.
Right click the "Application" folder and select "Get Info".
At the bottom of the resulting window there will be a blue folder icon in the preview section.
Drag the whole window to the right side of the desktop, closer to the Dock.
Now drag the blue preview folder to the Dock right of the separator line.
Right click the folder icon and select "Folder" under "Display as" if it is not shown as folder.
    Best.

  • Missing application icon, put it in dock instead

    Hi all,
I just bought an iMac (first mac). I downloaded and installed a game, when I was done it said "drag this icon to application folder". Well I foolishly just drug it to the dock instead (so it would be easier to find). Now, even though it is installed it doens't show up in the application folder.
Is there any way I can copy or move the icon to the appliation folder from the dock?
    Thanks

I would guess the game is not installed but is still on the mounted dmg. Once you finally unmount the dmg the Dock shortcut will no longer work.
    Here's my guess:
    1. You downloaded your goodie from the web, it arrived as "somegame.dmg" which you double clicked
    2. A white pseudo drive appeared on your Desktop which you opened, saw the game, and drug it to your Dock, but did not drag it out of the mounted disk image
If the above is what happened, do this:
    1. Drag the icon off your Dock, it will go "poof"
    2. Double click the disk image on your Desktop to open it
    3. Drag the program out of the disk image and into your Applications folder
    4. The Finder will proceed to copy the game
    5. After it is done copying you can close the disk image window then unmount it by either dragging it to the Trash or control click on it and from the contextual menu choose "eject"
    6. Go to the Applications folder, select your game icon and drag it to the Dock
Disk image files "something.dmg" are fake disks. When you double click one it mounts a "disk" on your Desktop, just as if you had inserted a CD. The contents remain on the "disk" until you copy them to your hard drive. Some have an installer which will do the copying for you. After you have finished you need to dismount the disk image, just as you would dismount any other disk. Whether you want to throw the dmg file itself away or not after you've done the install is entirely up to you. Personally I archive them for future use.

  • Missing icons on dock after re-load

I am missing my dictonary and dashboard icons after I reloaded the system from my time capsule. Neither of the icons show up in my applications folder. Any ideas?

that's quite strange. enter Time Machine and browse your backups of the Applications folder. are they present in any backups? if not you'll need to reinstall them from the snow leopard install DVD using Pacifist
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
when done with that reinstall 10.6.2 combo update to bring both apps to their current versions.
and once you have them in /Applications just drag them to the dock from there.

  • Question Mark over the iChat application in dock

    hi,
I go to start my iChat application in my dock... but there is a question mark over it and it doesnt work when i click on it. what should i do? apple seems not to having anything to help me.

You deleting the icon from the dock does not delete the application from the applications folder. The question mark is there because the association between the dock icon and the actual application is broken (application missing, moved, etc.).
You don't have a Mac OS 10 installer disk? You should have gotten one when you bought the computer. Assuming that you do, there is an "optional installer" package. In Tiger, iChat was one of the applications that you could reinstall from the optional installer package on the Tiger installer DVD. I don't know off the top of my head if that is the case anymore for Leopard or not. I can't find an apple knowledge base article that talks about this for Leopard, but there is one for Tiger at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1442. If Apple still lets you reinstall iChat from the optional installer package on the Leopard operating system DVD, the procedure should be very similar.
