hi, you can. Note however that this will slow down your computer as new OS use more system ressources.

"If you’re running Leopard (and would like to upgrade [to a newer OS], first you’ll need to upgrade to OS X Snow Leopard. You can purchase OS X Snow Leopard here.

If your computers are connected to the same network, you can turn on Sharing to allow you to see the contents of one from the other and do transfers. If there is no network, you can use "target disk mode" explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13842
Otherwise, you will need to use external storage such as a USB flash drive.

  • I've just migrated my Logic Pro 9.1.8 to a new Mac because my old computer crashed. They are asking for a serial number, but I don't have the install disks anymore. Is there someplace in the software itself that I can find the serial number?

Erase the internal drive and install a fresh OS.

  • I cannot get my iTunes library from my old computer to my new one. The old computer is so messed up that I cannot even get google to open. I tried to copy to an external hard drive and the music was there until I went to upload to the new computer.

I cannot get my iTunes library/music from my old computer to my new one. The old computer is so messed up that I cannot even open a browser.I tried to copy to an external hard drive and the music was there until I went to upload to the new computer. I disconnected my old computer so I will have to reconnect it I am sure. thank you for any help. Last time I transferred I used a product I purchased. That was a long time ago.

First of all make sure that you've definitely backed up the movies to your external hard disc.
In iMovie click on any event you don't want, go to the file menu and select 'move event to trash'. Then do the same for any unwanted projects - 'move project to trash'. Quit out of iMovie and empty the trash.
    Hope that helps!

I had to change the computer I have iTunes installed on, my iPhone is still looking for the old computer to sync over WiFi.  How do I change the WiFi computer associated to my iPhone?

    Hi Terri571,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
See these steps for setting up Wi-Fi syncing between your iPhone and new computer:
    iOS: Syncing with iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386
    Wi-Fi syncing
    Open iTunes
To set up Wi-Fi syncing, connect your iOS device to your computer with the included USB cable. Select your device under Devices on the left-hand side.
In the Summary tab, select "Sync with this [device] over Wi-Fi".
Whenever the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes, and you can sync it. The iOS device will sync automatically when all of the following are true:
The iOS device is plugged in to power
iTunes is open on the computer
The iOS device and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network
While the iOS device appears in the left-hand column of iTunes, you can select the content tabs and configure sync options.
Click Apply or Sync to sync the iOS device.
If the iOS device does not appear in the Devices section or you are unable to sync, please see this article for troubleshooting.
    Best,
    Jeremy

  • I transferred data from my Macbook Pro to my Mac mini but it forced me to make a new user for my old data.  How do I transfer my music, pics, and docs from the "old" user to the new user (so that I only have one user instead of 2?)

Unless you transfer the files from Setup Assistant, Migration Assistant creates a new user with the data.
To transfer the files to your first user, you have to log on this new user, and copy all your files to /Users/Shard folder. This is a folder where you can put the files you want to share between two or more users, and all users can read and write in it.
After copying the files, go to your first user, open /Users/Shared folder, and copy the files to your user folders. If you migrated applications, you must know that they are stored in a common folder (/Applications), so you don't have to transfer them. To open /Users/Shared folder, open Go menu (in the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type the folder

Restore from backup if you have one.
You can also transfer stuff from your iPod if you have one:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11857427#11857427
If you are in the US or Canada you can download purchased music from the Purchased link in the iTunes store.
Otherwise if the disk drive is OK in your Old PC you can remove it and put it in a USB drive enclosure and then use it as an external disk on your new PC, then you copy the muisc from there.

Restore the backup of your old computer to your new Mac.

  • Upgraded to new MacBook and now Office activation is declined because of too many users.  How do I delete Office registration for my old computer?

Help please.  I upgraded to a new macbook and migrated everything.  However, Office will not activate because it says too many copies are active.  How do I delete the activiation for my old laptop?  Thanks.

Use the Office activation phone number and call the automated activation menu. It will ask you how many installations you have. It will then issue you a new code for your new installation. Make sure your old installation is removed.

  • I have a new computer, and a new iTunes. My old computer crashed and I cannot access the harddrive. How can I switch over my iPod and iPad to my new iTunes?

My laptop crashed and I cannot access the harddrive. How can I transfer everything to my new iTunes to be able to sync my products with having to "erase" and start from scratch on evrything? Any insight will be greatly appreciatted!  Thank you!!

Your iPad is married to its now deceased old computer. This is the reason for the necessity of a backup for your computer, which your iPad is not.
Your iTunes Store and App Store purchases will not be lost. Just don't "erase and sync" when you sync your iPad to your new Mac:
If you want to move the iTunes Store purchases on your device to the new computer, choose "Transfer Purchases." The new computer must be set up with your iTunes Store account and authorized to play your iTunes Store purchases in order to transfer your iTunes Store purchases.

  • Updating on new, leaving LR4 on old computer - installation and working

My old computer can't run LR5 (10.6.8) and I use LR4. I just got a MacBook Air and I would like to use LR5 on it. Given that you can run a license on 2 computers, is it possible to have LR4 on the old MB and LR5 on the new MBA?
I understand that I don't need to migrate LR4 over to the MBA but can just get the upgrade and plug in the serial number for LR4 when it asks for it. (According to http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2013/06/lightroom-5-hot-issues.html)
As long as I'm not using them at the same time, is that still acceptable/going to work?
Along with that question, with the images on an external drive - they can all be in 2 catalogs, right? Can stay in the LR4 catalog as well as be brought into the new LR5 catalog. What would happen if I want to (for some reason) take an image that's been worked on in LR5/MBA and work on it on the MB/LR4? Since it's using the same PV it shouldn't be an issue, right? I just can't adjust any of the stuff that only LR5 can do.
    Thanks for your help.

Isn't that what you said? To install LR4 and LR5 on separate machines you need a full-product license for both LR4 and LR5, not just a LR5 upgrade license. I just checked the LR EULA and that's what it seems to indicate:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/eula/lightroom.html
