A new name for a company

Hello all
I'm switching to a new name for my company. The website
content will stay the same. My question is this. If I go to "site
Definition" and change the old name & the root folder over to
my new name will it delete any of my pages or do something weird to
any of my file folders? If anybody can tell me the best way to make
this change over I would appreciate it.

Setup new cockpit for different company

Dear Forum,
To make new cockpit for differebt company, i see the steps that to be needed :
below is how to install dashboard for multiple companies on the server.
1) create new SLDs (with new IDs)
2) export com.sap.b1i.dashboards BizStore
3) fix Info.xml, Deployments package, copy old dashboards and set them new names with corresponding IDs.
4) import new package to BizStore
5) Set Up event sender with new companies
6) In the Integration Framework -> Scenarios -> Scenario Package Setup:
6.1) turn sap.Xcelsius scenario off
6.2) push button Sender, activate new companies
6.3) turn sap.Xcelsius on
7) disable dashboards and cockpit in target companies
8) re-start event-sender, Integration Service
9) enable cockpit and dashboards in target companies.
no 1 i already done and test connection ok, but no 2 - 5 how to do it? which module i use it?

For step #2, you need to open the B1if Tools and there you will have an option on the to export different aspects of the BizStore. There is a drop-down for what you want to export.
Once exported, you then need to use an xml editor to make the changes and then once done re-import the changed files. You setup the new company information in the SLD option in B1if.

ITunes says "Please try a new name for your calendar" and closes

The entire message says, "sorry that username is taken. Please try a new name for your calendar itunes" and the locks up and shuts down. It then reopens and the process begins again. I am running current versions of iTunes and Leopard. I have tried reinstalling iTunes, but no dice.

I wonder why all of a sudden this thing is giving trouble? I've used it for a year or so and no issues, now all of a sudden it isn't working? Do you know the name of the file for iConcertCal? I searched for it and it isn't found on the computer by that name.

Does a new name for the internal HD make my Time Machine (and CCC) backups useless?

I have a replacement 1TB internal HD that I need to clone from my existing internal HD, using Carbon Copy Cloner. Initially I'll connect it in an external enclosure via USB, no questions on that.
I'd like to give the new HD itself a new name. Is there any way to have the new drive recognize all the corresponding data on my external drive Time Machine. Or will I have to start all over? I know that means I'd lose several months' worth of TM data.
As long as I'm asking about TM, does the same principle apply to the 1:1 clones made with CCC?

No problem with renaming the clone drive something else, in fact it's recommended.
However for best results I suggest doing so while option key booted from the clone, just in case.

Suggestion for a new name for this place

Using the term "Support" in Apple Support Communities makes people think they have Apple's ear here.
("This is the support website, right? My Mac Plus crashed after I installed all of Unsanity's Haxies. C'mon Apple!")
And lots of people aren't providing support or receiving support, anyway (e.g., this post). In fact lots of people are just blowing off steam or ranting and raving in some form or another.
Why not just call this joint: "Apple Communities"?
Yes, I embrace the irony in making this suggestion to the non-Apple audience. But feel free to trash me anyway.

Thanks for the Don Martin props. Glad to see someone recognized it. One of these days I'll get around to giving myself a present of the two volume "Completely Mad Don Martin." Too bad, I completely missed Captain Klutz. I don't think I was aware of Mad or Don Martin very much after the early '60's. I had all the fifties Mads, which my mother, in a fit of cleanliness, threw out when I went away to college. If I had them now, I could afford to buy that two volume set in a beat.
His characters are absolutely wonderful. I think the ony one who comes anywhere now to expressing that complete sense of lostness, derangement (the body gone totally awry) and befuddlement is Roz Chast in the New Yorker. (See the Ungooglable Man, below.) But Don Martin is still the gold standard in that department.
(I like your suggestons for names. Maybe we can use them all.)

Create an iPod or iphone version - is there any way to avoid duplicate files OR automating a new name for the new file?

I have two devices for my videos. An ipod classic and an Ipad. I would prefer to keep the highest resolution possible but also will be travelling and it will be useful to have a large archive with me.
I have found that many of the videos I have are "incompatible" with my ipod classic and am in the process of using the "create an ipod or iphone version" but this results in a duplicate file in my itunes library that is identical in everyway (except size and this can be bigger or smaller).
When you buy a HD video off itunes, you get both versions but only one file populates in the itunes libary.
Is there anyway that when itunes "creates the ipod or iphone version", it can do automatically merge these two files so you only see one file in your library? And then it will automatically sync the appropriate file with the appropriate device?
Or is there a way to have itunes "create the ipod or iphone version" and have it automatically label it with the name "XXX (ipod version"?
I am finding it very annoying to manually change all the titles on all the files being created.

When you open a Word document with Pages you get a translated-to-Pages file & the original Word document is unchanged. There are programs that will save over the original file such as LibreOffice. Pages will not.

Mail makes new name for attachment

When I send an word (or pdf) attachement to somebody, Mail changes the name. When it is a word document the name changes from "xxxx.doc" into "xxxx.dococ" and a pdf-file from "yyyy.pdf" into "yyyy.pdfdf". The recipient can not read the document. Does anybody knows what to do?

Here is what is written in the help file of the Mail Attachments Iconizer :
File name extensions are corrupted.
This is a bug in certain versions of Mac OS X unrelated to Mail Attachments Iconizer. When there are non-ASCII characters (e.g. ä, é or ®)™ in the file name Mail often corrupts the file name extension (e.g. .pdf, .jpg or .doc) which is often necessary to determine the file type.
Workaround: The bug seems to be fixed in the recent Mac OS X updates (as of version 10.5.4). Additionaly it is more safe in general to only use ASCII characters in attachment file names. (ASCII characters include unaccented letters of the Latin alphabet, digits, basic punctuation and spaces.)
I removed the "é" in the file name and it has worked... hope I don't get the problem again... and hopefully the bug will be corrected in further version... (I have Mac OS X 10.5.5 and still have the bug...)

New name for the product?

The name Oracle Express Edition seems to be causing a bit of confusion as there is already an Oracle Express in the stable, some kind of OLAP tool. So I was just wondering why Oracle went for a name so close to an existing product. I have a couple of suggestions for alternative names:
- MyOracle
- I Can't Believe Its Not SQL Server

Well, on the platform I've used (xos, a RedHat EL clone) there's no chance of a mssql installation - and yes, rpm -i <oracleXE.rpm> puts the 'express' in installation (on an athlon 1GHz in less then 10 minutes). Since I've been 'playing' with 10g2 and ASM I did install some libs first, that may have helped.
As a sidenote: sybase express edition (ee) is also available (even included on a live-cd distro), time for a XE-Live-CD?
My personal take on the name: XE doesn't sound to bad, and since EE is already taken in the oracle product family ...

Before ordering it online, can I just confirm that Faster Unlimited Broadband and Evening & Weekend Calls (which costs £20 for first 3 mths and then £26 thereafter) is the fibre optic option whereby an engineer will call to fit a fibre optic cable?
The estimated speed of this option when ordering (9.1 Mbps) gives the same speed as that quoted by the wholesale checker which states: "test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line of 9.1 Mbps and upstream line speed of 1 Mbps."
I previously thought I'd have to call 150 to order this fibre service but now it looks as though I can order it online.

basically it is infinity but for people where there speed estimate is 15mb - seen it called infinity option 3. there is a post on speed/connection board by strontium90 which will give an idea

I know Apple has internal production names for their products. So the Mac Book Pro has an internal name other than the Mac Book Pro.

Different number range for recurring docs for diff company code

Hi,
We define X1 as the number range for recurring company codes. For 2 company codes, we have given the same number range for X1, 100000-1999999
Now when a recurring doc is posted for both the company codes monthly, the company codes have same dco number which confuses the user.
Is there any way to change the set up of the number range like deleting the one existing and starting with the new series
Any other suggestions are appreciated

Hello,
You cannot deleted the number range if it has already been posted, however, you just limit or restrict the upper limit equal to the current number.
Create a new number for other company code.
the number ranges are defined at company code level / fiscal year level.
The number ranges can be year dependent or year independent
They may be internal or external.

If your apps were in itunes on your computer, then they should still be there. Just sync them back to the iphone.
BTW, the backup that itunes performs when syncing does NOT include music/apps/movies/tv shows etc.
Anything purchased on the iphone would have to be transferred to your computer. File>Transfer Purchases
Unlike music/vids/etc, you can redownload apps

Saving changed services in Automator with a new name.

Under SnowLeopard I could open an existing workflow, make some changes to it and save it as a new workflow service. In Lion there is no SAVE AS, so this procedure doesn't work.
I tried duplicating the workflow in the Finder and renaming it and opening it in Automator. The problem is; after making the changes and saving it, Services show it with the original name. That means both the original file and the duplicated/renamed file show up with the same name.
Is Automator creating an internal name for the file that can't be changed?
I had a service that moved files from one location to another. I created 5 duplicates of it and renamed them with the new location as part of I wanted to move file to. I made the changes to each with the new location as the place to move the selected files.
Now Services show six services with the original name and none with the new names.
Is anyone else having the same problem? I wish there were a way to force applications to do a SAVE AS.
I have also noticed that the DUPLICATE TO... doesn't give you an option to have to duplicated a new name.

For me the following works:
Open the servce you want to modify in Automator.
In Automator duplicate the workflow with File -> Duplicate.
Edit the duplicate.
Save it with File -> Save. You will be prompted for a new name.
Install the new service in ~/Library/Services and remove the old version.

Tones is the new name for Ringtones. If the entry is missing in the left-hand column of iTunes then enable it from Edit > Preferences > General tab.
If your existing tones are not syncing properly to your iOS device then uncheck the option to Sync Tones from the Tones tab when the device is connected, sync the device, check the option and sync again.

Which property is the unique identity for a company beside DB name

I would like to distinguish the company, I know for a company DB name is unique,however, database can be restored from other company database.
is there any information for one company cannot be changed from SAP UI once it created, and when company DB restored from other company DB, I can compare the new value with last I saved value and know this database different with the original company database. I have considered about company name, in different company DB the company name different, but company name can be changed from SAP B1 Company details window.
In one words, I want to know which is the company level identity.

To my knowledge there's no unique identifier.
However, it seems that you cannot change the company address (OADM.CompnyAddr) - at least in 2005 SP01; maybe this could help?
In addition there are a couple of other settings which cannot be changed once set and transactions booked...
Would that give you a bit of what you want?
