Is this "New Player" some kind of third party scam or is it part of Adobe? has a blue/purple pyramid logo with a right arrow inside of the box. "New Player" is not an Adobe product and it doesn't come FROM Adobe or with ANYTHING you can download here.

Still no AA battery based player from Creati

I am very disappointed. No new AAA battery based players from creative? How about a player with a removable lithium ion battery and inexpensi've spare batteries? I want a player with a removable battery and spare batteries for it.

It is 2 years layer, and still no new AA battery powered mp3 players! I haven't seen any mp3 players with a display that take a AA battery and have more than 2 GB of storage.
In the meantime I bought some players with a built in battery, and when I want to power or charge them with AA nimh batteries, I use a Tekkeon mp550 usb battery pack. It is a bit bulky and heavy, but at least it works. I am still hoping that we can see some nice mp3 players that run on a single AA battery.
I am also looking for an mp3 player that has both AM and FM HD radio.

I just ordered a Zen Vision M Black through the Creative site directly (4/23/06), and I was wondering if anyone knows about how long it's going to take to get back into stock (it's listed as backordered). I emailed Creative long before I bought the item, and I haven't received a response yet. If anyone has heard anything, I'd love to hear it.
Also, let me know if I made the right decision. I'm upgrading from a 20GB Zen touch that I love, because the Vision M has more storage, and video.

update audible still can't activate the zen, and it still keeps crashing the wireless adaptor, which inturns causes a stop error and crashes the system. i can't win =/

i am looking for a mp3 player with a good fm radio too. That can receive good radio stations.

Best? It depends what your needs are, and what your budget is. For me, I prefer using a player that is powered by a AAA or AA battery, and I carry at least one spare battery. For me the most important thing is not to be without power when I want to listen to my player. For others, a larger storage capacity is more important. Do you want to view photos or video on your player? The players with the largest storage capacity(perhaps 8 gigs or more?) use a hard dri've. Those with a smaller storage capacity use flash memory(except some old models). I would not even consider a player that uses a hard dri've since a hard dri've can easily be damaged by the shock of dropping it, or by vibration.

I tried Notpod but can't get it to work. Part of the problem, I suspect, is that I can't create a folder on my player (a SanDisk Clip+). I also can't do this in Windows Explorer. Whilst I can see the Clip+ in Explorer, the option to create a new folder isn't there.
The error mesag I get in Notpod is:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit the application will close immediately.
InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'SelctedIndex'. Parameter name: SelectedIndex"
Then, when I plug the Clip+ into a USB port, iTunes thinks it is my iPad - which is because, I guess, Notpod hasn't worked.
I can drag and drop files from the Music folder where my iTunes tracks are stored onto the Clip+ and they get converted but I'd rather synchronise a Playlist from iTunes if I can.

Creating a Player from an InputStream

I have a media application am writing with an issues on it.
The application is to receive Byte chucks containing media content with a content type String from a network via RMI
Is there any samples code for creating a player from an InputStream in JMF? Something to do with a java.io.ByteArrayInputStreamAt the moment am forced to write the byte chucks to a temporary file then pass the file to JMF which is working OK, byte i belive the must be a better way to Override the temp file.
I believe this is possible since sun provides the same for J2ME javax.microedition.medi.Manager.createPlayer(java.io.InputStream stream, java.lang.String type) of which the MIDlet version of my application processes the same quite fine.
If not i have tried to implement my own DataSource for known media formats after i checked out this thread http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5264968 but kept me stack for some days so i decided to come out here and look for some help. Ad really appreciate some feedback.

Well i have a small glitch that i don't quit understand don know whether to ask here or no or it should be on a new thread. but her goes.
I am under Mandriva2008.1 with JMF performance pack installed on my classpath. i register jffmpeg plugin on the fly and can play most of the video and audio files supported by jffmpeg though not in so good of the quality but in just works 4me since am only using it for preveiw purposes.
The problem is that i used mencoder mencoder vcd://02 -vf scale=640:272 -o track02.mpg -oac copy -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4 from the console to convert some VCD files to mpeg4 but the JVM just crashes when i try to open the files. After i look at the crash log it is related to some native libraries C [libjmmpx.so+0x14b54].
Wonder whether is the mencoder issue i.e am using the wrong mencoder args or is it that JMF is loading the wrong decoder for the mpeg4 codec?

Trying to create new DVD from selected portions of existing DVD

I have a DVD I created of my son singing from a video we copied into the Mac several months ago. I can't find the file on the MAC and I'm not sure it would help with my objective if i found it. The video tape has been taped over.
I want to capture selected portions of the old DVD onto a new DVD.
Using a camcorder and a different tape, I learned tha I-movie lets me capture clips directly from the camcorder.
How do I create clips from the old DVD and import them into iMovie like the camcorder allowed me to do. Once I create the clips, is it difficult to create a new DVD from the clips. This is a new process to me. It may be an easy step I'm missing, but missing that step is a show stopper. Can someone help. -- thanks

Tapeing over an old tape - has it's major disadvantages. You'll never get that
same good quality again. The DVD disc has a very much lower quality than the original
what ever way You choose.
Easy: Connect Your Camera to a set-top DVD player and copy to a new tape.
Best quality I've got.
More elaborate (read pricey) use a video-bridge (some Cameras can do this)
Lazy and not that expencive: Buy Roxio Toast™ and let it convert back to streamingDV
that iMovie can handle. Probably about the same quality as copy to tape.
And don't put a mini DVD disc into Your Mac. You need a trayloaded DVD to do this.

Creating a new library from a DVD Burn library

I have my entire library of photos on my iMac in iPhoto 6.0.6. I recently spent quite a bit of time cleaning up what had been a rather messy, unorganized, photo library. My organizational method consisted of consolidating old film rolls which were inherited from original imports that were in different folders by moving groups of photos into single "film rolls" for older years and making fewer rolls for the last few years. I then went back through and corrected photo dates for a bunch of images that were scanned in, etc. I downloaded Keyword Manager, which I like a lot, and applied keywords to every photo in my collection. I also deleted a bunch of old photos which were too similar to better shots or simply not worth keeping. Once I finished all of this I had my new library consisting of 1892 pictures, which I hoped to backup and allow to serve as a "gold master copy" of all of my photos to date. In browsing the database in Finder, I noted that there were a lot of images in the "Original" folders that were not in the library. Some of these were images I had deleted in the library. (I know better than to do anything through the finder other than browse. I know that to maintain integrity of the library it is necessary to only perform actions through iPhoto.) I did a database rebuild and asked iPhoto to recover orphaned files which did nothing. I really wanted this database to be in pristine condition since I was using it as my master copy, but could not figure out how to do away with old unwanted images in the "originals" folders. I went ahead and created a DVD library with "Share -> Burn", and voila, the new iPhoto Library that was created on the DVD appeared to be "clean" with only the 1892 pictures in my viewable library existing in the Originals folder. OK, so far so good. I then took the DVD I had burned and attempted to replicate my library on my iBook which had a clean install of iLife '06 on it. When I launched iPhoto with the DVD in place it showed me an empty hard drive library and the burned library from the DVD. At first I attempted to just copy individual Film Rolls from the DVD to the local library. While this worked in bring the images over, the keywords became all jumbled. The resulting photos would have keywords attached which did not belong to them and were different from what was on the DVD. I then deleted the iBook library and tried copying the entire iPhoto Library folder from the DVD to the iBook via the Finder. When I relaunched iPhoto, presto all the photos were in my local library with keywords, film rolls and other metadata intact. However in browsing the library I came across a few photos which would cause iPhoto to crash when I tried to edit them. This was a consistent behavior on specific images. Reading through the forums I came across the color profile bug and through testing verified that this was not the problem. Meanwhile back on the iMac I could edit the photos in question with no problem. I verified that the image had not been corrupted during the DVD burn as well. The files are identical between the iMac and the iBook. I know this is a long drawn out post, but if anybody has read this far, here are my questions ...
1) What is the best way to go about creating a "clean" database with internal integrity after a doing a lot of edits and metadata changes? Shouldn't the burn to DVD do what I want?
2) How come when I copied subsets of my library over to a new machine from the DVD, the keywords seemed to get all jumbled? Is it a matter of indexing them? If I added all the keywords to an empty library before copying the images over, would it work? Is there not a way to just copy portions of a DVD library into another library?
3) Any ideas on the crash while attempting to edit problem? The image will load as a thumbnail, and then briefly flas the full size image, before iPhoto crashes and pops up a dialog asking if I want to restart it.

How To Add Additional Fields When Creating New Contact From w/in Mac Mail?

Hi there. When in Mac Mail and clicking on contact information provided within an email, we are able to either (1) CREATE NEW CONTACT or (2) ADD TO EXISTING CONTACT (by clicking on the arrow next to a phone number, address, etc.). If I choose "Create New Contact," how can I add additional fields BEFORE clicking on "Add to Address Book" button in lower right corner? Let's say, for example, I know this new contacts URL or company. (Currently, I am creating the new contact from within Mac Mail and then going to Address Book and finding the contact, then editing, the adding the additional fields, then saving, and then going back to Mac Mail. This all takes time.)
Note: When creating a new iCal event from within Mac Mail, we can click on Option/Alt key when selecting drop-down arrow...and this will allow us to add additional information. The same feature isn't available for address book???

I have the exact same question and problem. If there was a way to automatically open the AB entry after "creating new contact" this would solve it.

New trouble - although I can now make the multi-cam target sequence of the correct duration, I move into program monitor for editing the multi cam display enabled, the separate sources/cams no longer show in the window... it's just blank. I am trying to follow the instrucitons for moving my iTunes account to a new Mac from a PC. I wish to use the External Hardrive Method, (also I have too much info to fit into the free iCloud space) ... and I am wondering how to handle several iTunes accounts for my son and daughter. We all share the itunes media folder, but I use the control-click option to open either mine, my sons, or my dauthers account.

Yes, you copy each one's iTunes folder to the /Home/Music/ folder in each of their separate user accounts. You will first need to create a separate user account for each of them using the Users & Groups preferences.

How to create a new connection from SAPGUI to Test drive?

I have installed Sap Netweaver Test drive on a linux virtual machine (windows host). The installation was successful and I was able to start the instance (application server and the database), yet I don't know how to create a new connection from my SAPGUI client (7.20) to this server. The static IP address of the server is 192.168.1.160.
I entered the following values for my new connection entry
Description: SAP Netweaver
Application server: 192.168.1.160
Instance number: 01
System ID: DB2
SAProuter: /H/192.168.1.160/S/3201/H/
But it does not work. Any idea about the values needed for creating a new entry?

Splitting a library does not remove the folder I moved from the original library. I exported a folder of 3000 images from the original library to a new library. Exporting a library will create a duplicate of the exported library items. Usually you do this to work on a partial library on another computer and later merge the changed images back. Splitting the library is not the primary purpose of exporting.
If you want to remove the library items that you exported, select them in the source list of the library inspector and delete them (File > Delete Original Images and all Versions). Then empty the Aperture Trash, after checking that you did not trash more than you wanted.
But check, if the backup of your Aperture library is in working condition, and check the exported library carefully, before you do such a massive delete.
