A Nice Feature

Hi - It would be nice if you could opt not to have Aperture do the raw conversion. For example - opening in PS would have PS do the conversion.
Bruce

A slightly neater 'fudge' is to set up a hot folder via Automator that opens files in another RAW convertor such as ACR.
Then, once you picked your best choice in Aperture, export the Master into that folder and it will automatically open in the other convertor.
You can even set up another hot folder to import the results back into Aperture, though you'd have to stack it manually.

  • IOS nice feature to have - allow notifications from specific apps even on DND

When I sleep at night, I enable "Do Not Disturb".  DND has a nice feature that allows calls from specific persons to go thru even while in DND.  I'm hoping that Apple would extend this allow specific apps to notify me even on DND.  I have a "SmartThings" app, and this app notifies me when unwanted movement, or when my doors/windows are opened by "intruders".  I would want SmartThings to notify me, even when I'm in DND.
    Thanks.

As long as the app is running, it should.
I use DND on a schedule as well as a third party alarm app and my alarm still sounds every morning before DND is disabled.

  • 11 Nice Features with New Awesome & easy Magnetic Pen Tool (Updated)

    1.      Scale effects during the scaling object, in the control bar there is more space (Empty) that will be the helpful to show you the example of the picture that I have made myself, when you transform any object, you will see these options in the control bar.
    2.      Save preset of filters in filter gallery:- will be really powerful, it must be exchangeable so that we could send that preset to any one, it must be applicable on percentage(%) of document size, (depends on document resolution).
    3.     Filter gallery must be the (live filter gallery), if this works on any raster object without converting to smart object, this will be helpful for creating live PSD.
    4.     History panel:- history panel must save the history of document. It will be helpful and powerful, we could apply that history to any document like actions, and history should not be saved with document itself, it must be separate like actions, create 2 arrows in the bottom of panel like layer combs’ panel, to check the history, if any step is wrong we could be able to remove that step,
                                  OR
    5.   Also create/convert history into action, see the pic as example,
If (to Adobe Photoshop Team) history saving is not a good idea! Then before closing the document you must convert history into actions, when any person saves document and has forgotten converting history into actions and wants to close the document, at that time that dialogue must be opened, (Do you want to convert your history into actions, when you open (that) document again you will miss history, and also must create a CHECK BOX for don’t show again.
    6.     Layers Group:- In the group (folder) we move the objects with move tool and it moves all grouped objects that’s much better, but when we open the group (Folder), after opening it moves also all grouped object !!!, that’s not perfect, I suggest you how to do it, double click on grouped any object to open the group then move any object, and double click on any grouped object to close the group (folder). ( like Illustrator )
    7.      Photoshop Extended can create powerful creative animation with audio and animation panel support completely the smart object and smart object makes animation really smart. But the problem is that it takes too much time to generate animation of few seconds and generated video file size is very large up to 1.GB.
Here is solution, like new document dialogue box under the Device Central button it shows the document size, as hint, same way in the render video dialogue box it must show the file size and generating time and reducing file size hints.
I had created (20 months ago) in Photoshop extend CS3  really awesome animation of earth, from where it starts it ends there, and shadows on earth are really awesome, map that moves to the shadow side, it changes from day to night and in the shadows you can see the roads’ and cities’ lights’ just like real night map photo it happens like naturally cause of smart object, I have two photos of the map day and night used for animation, you can see that creative animation on youtube.
    (Link)= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd86xGIkQxM
watch this animation in full screen Mode, b/c Youtube has reduced the Quality of Video.
    8.   Welcome Screen:- Why welcome Screen is necessary?
Adobe’s all products must be linked with Design sequence. (Interface)
Design Standard Suite which itself is a famous  printing and publishing suite for design ( creation) layout, must keep same sequence of all products and should not affect the attraction,
Example for Interface, now if CS6 all programs are created with new interface will you don’t change the Photoshop's interface???
Here are my Design Sequences Examples
These Pictures I have Designed in Illustrator
Photoshop with Welcome Screen Looking like Illustrator & Indesign now it matching with its Family.
Benifits of Welcome Screen for ( New ) user
    A.    Many people don't know that Photoshop has free few samples with it these are nice example to understand that what photoshop can do!
    B.    Photoshop Exchange : is really Necessary : for to exchange Workspace, color profile, Actions, Key Board Shortcuts, Layer Styles,    Swatches, Filter Gallery Presets & PSDs etc.
    C.    This will be helpful for New Users TV.Adobe.com they will watch free teqchniques, as see this welcome screen.
    D.     Any older user don't want to see the welcome screen that person can turn on that check box (Don't Show Again).
    9. Pen Tool + Magnetic Pen Tool =
In my idea pen tool is the perfect tool for vector drawing it gives us perfect result as we want. but about those people like (Toys-R-Us (One Really Big Pen Tool Shortcoming) or other like him, if they can't understand, although pen tool is very easy to use, & he wants short key without going back for to breatck the handle, (for those people) if you want to create short key then short key should be "c or any easy" press to breat the handle, then press again to get back handle again during the using pen tool, or create a magnetic pen tool it must work like magnetic lasso tool works for selection, it will be the best & easy to use & to understand, during to use this tool if it goes to wrong way simply press back space key to go back to last step same like Magnetic Lasso.
    (Awesome Magnetic Pen Tool)
or create pen tool like fireworks its pen tool shows next click's preview (very nice pen tool is in fireworks to understand ( really Awesome )
    10. keyboard shortcuts like Illustrator for Blend Modes Next , Previous & Opacity 10 to 90, I had started to learn Illustrator CS3 & since CS3 I use these shortcuts for that, (~)tildi for next blend mode, Shift (~) tildi for previous mode, & opacity 10=1 key 20=2 to 90=9 key
11.PANEL ICONS Should be Attached under or above the tool Bar but not on Right or Left Side only ( like Indeign CS2 ).
    Note :-
I shall appreciate your frank comments on the above suggestions.

    OK Here goes my wannahaves...
    1) create new table or sheet from a file instead of having to open the file and copy/paste into current document. ie "Insert Sheet from file", "Insert Table from File"
    2) show linked data from a data source other than the address book - eg an ODBC data source or Filemaker database
    3) Ability to paste a filtered table into a new table with just the found rows.
    4) Ability to freeze rows and columns to allow for very wide or deep tables
    5) When typing data into a cell, automatically adjust its width as you type. Depending on your enter key config, hitting enter puts a new line in the cell and adjusts the row height to fit.
    6) Printer page formats default to regional standard: eg in Australia, UK - A4
    7) Popup list or menu contents based on a data range: eg a list of categories
    8) Media to be selected from anywhere on the system, not just in iTunes/iPhoto (eg most of my video is on an external hard drive)
    9) "Autofilter" based on contents of the column.
    10) Vlookup and other reference functions: need to be able to select a table (by name) as your range, a column/row (by name) to look up from and a column/row (by name) to retrieve. All functions should work this way, not just the basic ones.
    11) When inserting a table you should be asked how many rows and columns.
12 "Format painter" - copy styles and other formatting from cell to cell and table to table.
    13) Outlining based upon repeated cell values

Does anyone know if it's possible to open a linked topic by
clicking on the link somehow and have the linked topic appear in
the editing pane? The only way I can see to navigate using existing
links is to right-click on the link, go to "Show Topic Links" and
then click on the link on that tab. But that's an extra click; plus
it's easy to get lost in the Link View especially if your page
contains a lot of links. It would be great if you could right-click
on a link inside the topic you're editing and select a shortcut
menu like "Open Linked Topic" or something. Is there something
similar in RH7 that I just haven't seen yet? I've wanted this ever

  • A nice feature for pacman

I dont think im the only one that does a weekly "pacman -Syu", many do it more often i guess, but i cant allow that, so i do it once a week, now i dont have that many pkgs as i've been really busy and just reinstalled Arch a week or so ago, but i do had this thought before i reinstalled:
When i had my prior system, i had lots of packages, and sometimes i didnt want to update them all at the same night (yeah you guessed, dialup), so i had to "manually" see what where the ones i wanted more.
Now, here is the issue, "pacman -Syu" is a list of all the pkgs available for update with no particular order except for the abecedary, so some pkgs starting with "k" would be mixed with the KDE ones and the same for the "G" and Gnome, and all this made a lot more complicated to choose what packages to upgrade. So i was thinking, cant the output of "pacman -Syu" be categorized? as with the categories the Arch installer use?
I think an ordered list of the packages available would be a much nicer thing to see and very usufull too.
Hope you take it in consideration.
    Regrets.

apeiro wrote:It would be problematic to start doing partial sysupgrades. You might miss a key dependency and break packages.
    Hi,
I wasnt thinking in doing partial sysupgrades, i think you didnt understood what i wanted to say (im sorry but when i read something written by me in english a couple of hours ago, i find several errors on my ways of expression, not to name grammatical and ortographical).
What i meant, was that if there is a way of ordering the "display" of the output of pacman -Syu in categories, so one can see in more detail for a pkg that might want to update if there is actually any update to do.
    Instead of:
    abiword-1.2-pkg.tar.gz gcc-3.4-pkg.tar.gz libbonoboui-2.3-pkg.tar.gz xfree86-4.4-pkg.tar.gz xmms-2-10.pkg.tar.gz ... [...]
It would be something like this:
    Base:
    gcc-3.4-pkg.tar.gz ... [...]
    Office:
    abiword-1.2-pkg.tar.gz ... [...]
    Multimedia:
    xmms-2.10.pkg.tar.gz ... [...]
    X:
    xfree86-4.4-pkg.tar.gz ... [...]
The numbers in the versions are random except on the ones i remembered current ones.
About missing key dependencies, i do pacman -Syu to see what are the pkgs updated, then choose NO at the do system upgrade question and then i do a pacman -S [app1] [app2] [app3].... and pacman deals with the dependencies, so i dont think we would have any problem with them... is this what you meant??
kakabaratruskia wrote:maybe, there could be an option for pacman, that when you do -Syu, you where asked if you want to install each package. (like download foo? (Y/N), download dasda?(Y/N), etc.)
I think this is a great idea, it would help a lot (i wouldnt have to do the last step in the previous paragraph )
    Something like pacman -Syu --ask
    Anyway, this are just thoughts!

  • Synchronisation microsoft outlook and creative micro photo, a nice feature or no

how nice is the feauture "synchronisation Microsoft Outlook" on the creative micro photo
    or perhaps other creative mp3-players
what are the pro's and con's ? do you use it often ?
is it a reason for buying because most other mp3-players have it not ?

That is a Hard Dri've failure. Take it back to where you got it for replacement, or contact Creative Support for warranty.

  • [Playlists] Working play queue would be a nice feature

Hi, Here is an idea: Can You make the play queue actually be a play queue ? After last update (26.7.2015) its not possible to add tunes to queue anymore.Wasnt working well before the update...but it still was possible to add songs. Sorting didnt work, but could atleat add and play. Seems that every update there is Spotify has been functioning worse, and now cannot even play the songs You want.Nice going. So, second idea is: Test your updates before forcing it on users. regardsPete

    Updated: 2015-07-27Hello there!
Since the PlayQueue works normally on my end, this seems more like a bug than an idea.
Could you please open a new topic in the respective help section with more information on the problem such as: Spotify version, what you did, what you were expecting, what really happened. That way we can check it out and forward it to the right team. Thanks! ;)

  • Scrolling: old bug was nice feature

In an older version of OSX, I remember that I could move my cursor over a window in the background, and use the mouse scroll-wheel to scroll that window WITHOUT bringing it to the front.
This was particularly nice if you had a browser window open to documentation, with Photoshop or Flash in the foreground (lots of floating palettes) and didn't want to hide/re-show all the palettes etc by clicking back and forth to scroll down in the documentation.
I've tried holding down option, control, cmd, etc to allow scrolling of background documents, to no avail.
Is there a way to re-enable that behaviour? Or a third-party scrolling hack ?
    Thanks!

He's talking about scrolling window contents using the scroll
wheel, without bringing the window to the front
and without clicking anywhere on it, not even
on the scroll bar, not even while pressing the
    command key.
    Exactly!
But... I would be happy to use a click or command-key or drag, IF it works without bringing the back document to the front.
I am exploring Smart Scroll now (keypress-click-drag on back doc), but there is an installer problem (crashes) which I am trying to solve (4 tries now) with the developer. He's sending me updated installers, but -- no luck yet. If this eventually works, I will report here.
    Cheers.

  • Servlet with nice features release anounce.

    Hello to every reader...
I just released a project on sourceforge, it's a servlet, useful to people who need to deploy XML/XSLT/(X)HTML/PDF. Has support for server side scripting in several languages, JDBC access, file download and upload,
    cascading hosts...
Maybe this is not the very right place announce a project, but since the code is fully available as open source and has lots of useful code for anyone implementing servlets and other stuff based on java, I don't feel so bad about anouncing it here (if you know other sites where i can anounce it, let me know).
    Is available at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/kisslet/
Though the homepage is at a home server (not allways up):

Please take a look, I believe is worth.
If you know someone that might be interested in any way (using/helping/financing), pass the word...

  • Nice "feature" for iTunes match in IOS6 - not!

So, under IOS6, there's no indication in iTunes of whether a track is held locally on the device or in iTunes Match.  That's a pain in the *** on its own but there's more.
It's not possible to download a track from within the "Songs" view. This can only be done in the Album or Artist view.  I tend to scroll through the Songs view looking for tracks to liste t or copy to my iPhone before I get on a plane or go somewhere there isn't a data connection.  So when I find a song I want I hae to locate the album it belongs to and download from there, then go back to the Songs view and back and forth, back and forth...
Dumb oversight that could have been easily avoided, especially as it was something that was possible undr IOS5
I guess Apple assume everyone is always connected to high speed data everywhere, including on a plane or on the underground.

Hey thank you for your response... i did realize later that the do not disturb was turned on. i thought you had to turn it on to have it on at night. didn't know that it ment for immediate use. But i got it figured out...
As for itunes match. I did a little more research. Its actually designed that way so you can't delete any song unless... you turn off itunes match in setting then you can delete songs. Its sort of a fail safe so you dont delete songs by accident. So its not that bad. ios6 is designed to delete songs automaticly if space is needed on your phone. it will delete songs that have less play. hope that helps you guys.

  • Konqueror browser for Linux has an useful CPU limitation feature for websites using Flash content. Can you add such a feature in Firefox?

I have recently found that Konqueror browser for Linux can help user to limit cpu usage while visiting a website using flash technology by changing settings in the Flash section and adjusting the slider from VERY HIGH settings to HIGH and MEDIUM and so on. It actually works, and it does not have a direct impact on the general performance for flash player but it may generate some conflicts if other extensions such as add-blocker or click-to-flash are enabled also.
Maybe you can add a similar setting in Firefox in the browser option section or just as an useful addon or extension.

Sorry for being late with my reply. I've just tested that addon that you mentioned in your post ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire.../system-monitor/ ) , it looks like a system monitor and nothing more than that.
As for the memory tip ( about:memory ) I agree that it can be extremely useful for users that have less than 1 gb memory installed on their system. I know very little about computers but I can tell your tip for optimizing memory usage in firefox has merits.
Me, I have another problem with cpu overload in Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera and most of the browsers with flash support enabled. Each and every time time I visit a page that features all sort of adds and gadgets based on flash technology, and each time I try to watch a video online my cpu goes all the way up to 100% and stays there until i finally decide to close the browser.
I am running winxp and also linux on a Dell Optiplex GX260 machine with 2000 MHz cpu, 1024 Mib ram and 128 Mib video card, it is not the best computer in the world but still 2000 MHz should be enough for a limited and uneventful web experience.
It is not as much an issue with the web browser, any browser, the whole problem is caused by funny people claiming to be deeply involved with web development, and promoting flash technology for ages instead of choosing other alternatives, more user friendly. All I am saying is that flash ruined the entire web experience making people to believe that they actually need dual-core cpu and coreduo and deepfreeze cpu and so on which is only partially true.
I always get better results for cpu usage when watching online videos that use media player as default player and not flash player, and my cpu stays below 70% usage which is not much but still it is not 100% usage.
Konqueror offered me a nice surprise, and I was able to limit cpu usage once I moved that slider from Very High setttings for flash player to Medium settings. I got something between 80-90% cpu usage as a result, and I was very pleased to finally see a working solution to my problem at least for linux if not for windows.
The only other browser that I can use for windows only, which handles both flash player and cpu usage well is Kmeleon browser which is a long forgotten project but does offer nice features once you find some plugins that it needs to make it come to life again.

  • Disappointed with "features" not in Numbers

I just bought iWork and am really disappointed with the shortage of "features" in Numbers. Why don't we get simple icons such as cut, copy, paste, file save, and print? Why must we always use keystrokes or go to a menu when a simple icon on the toolbar would save time and work? Also, there is no "select print area" option so if you want to print just part of a spreadsheet you have to hide all the rows or columns for the rest of the sheet. These are basic features that those of us who have used Excel have become accustomed to. Apple added all kinds of nice features to Numbers that should make it a great software package but the absence of simple features that make every day life easier is very perplexing. I think it is a poorly designed package and hope they will soon add some of these features. But given that cut/copy/paste icons are not available on other Apple software I suspect there is some irrational reasoning behind their actions.

I was reading the Document a little more and I think I found the quote that I am going to paste into alot of responses to people complaining about how Numbers doesn't do -- insert thing it doesn't do here--
    Avoid Feature Cascade
If you are developing a simple application, it can be very tempting to add features that aren’t wholly relevant to the original intent of the program. This feature cascade can lead to a bloated interface that is slow and difficult to use because of its complexity. Try to stick to the original intent of your program and include only features that are relevant to the main workflow.
The best products aren’t the ones with the most features. The best products are those whose features are tightly integrated with the solutions they provide, making them the most usable.
    Apply the 80 Percent Solution
During the design process, if you discover problems with your product design, you might consider applying the 80 percent solution—that is, designing your software to meet the needs of at least 80 percent of your users. This type of design typically favors simpler, more elegant approaches to problems.
If you try to design for the 20 percent of your target audience who are power users, your design may not be usable by the other 80 percent of users. Even though that smaller group of power users is likely to have good ideas for features, the majority of your user base may not think in the same way. Involving a broad range of users in your design process can help you find the 80 percent solution.
I think it explains it better than I ever have...

  • How can I disable the Camera Feature on iOS 5.0.1 or 5.1

I personally DO NOT want this feature accessible for anyone without my pass code seeing how I have had a iPhone stolen b4 I DO NOT want any features like iPod or Camera to be usable to anyone so I for one would like it removed or made an option to disable. Your programmers may be thinking oh this is nice feature to make it easier on people HOWEVER this encourages thieves to steal the phone for bare minimum features seeing as being able to utilize controls of the camera and iPod makes the phone still usable and I seriously don't feel like having this big flaw on a phone I paid $650.00 for I want the security of knowing it is completely useless to anyone but me. so if there is a way to disable it I would like to know or would like to see this implemented in a future update which I hope allows this option.

  • PI 7.1 EHP1 Mapping with Variables feature

    HI,
Anyone can point to a blog/something explaining how the variables works in the graphical mapping editor? (PI 7.1 EHP1)
It's working fine for simple one-to-one mapping, but as soon as queues and context come in I'm never getting the expected results.
Now I'm trying to populate a variable to be re-used in 2 differents target fields.
    source -> useOneAsMany -> splitByValue -> trim -> variable.
    variable -> target1
    variable -> some logic -> target 2
Exception: values missing in queue context. Target XSD requires a value for this element, but the target-field mapping does not create one. Check whether the XML instance is valid for the source XSD, and whether the target-field mapping fulfils the requirement of the target XSD)
Are VARIABLE single value and cannot be used as a ResultList?
Edited by: Martin Lavoie Rousseau on Mar 8, 2011 7:45 PM

The screenshot made me notice the occurence of the variable is 0..1 so my guess would be it can only be single value and not ResultList.
Also the Display Queue option is not working properly.
This looks like a nice feature on paper but is really limited.
