A one day entry on iPhone calendar shows as two days on iPad?!

I know you're thinking this is probably something to do with timezones differences between the iPhone and the iPad?
Each year I put the F1 grand prix races in my calendar as a one-day event on the Sunday they take place. On Sunday 27th March 2011 is the Australian grand prix.
On my iPhone (I'm in the UK and running the latest version on an iPhone 4 etc.) it shows as a one-day event but on my iPad it stradles two-days! When I go to click EDIT on the iPhone entry, despite showing as a Sunday entry only, it shows that it starts on Sunday 27th March and finished on Monday 28th March!
I spent a couple of hours looking at this. No other grand prix date has this discrepancy between the iPad and the iPhone calendars (that are sync'd with MobileMe calendar). It's just this one date.
I even had a friend add an event on the same date and it also suggested it was a one day event but when you edit it then it shows it's a two day event.
And then the only explanation dawned on me. It wasn't time zone setting differences as that would affect all the entries like that the whole year.
27th March is the date the clocks go forward in the UK for British Summer Time!
Is it a bug though? Why does the iPhone show it as one day but the iPad show it as two?
What is it with Apple and calendars and alarms?! And don't start me on the MobileMe calendar and Outlook integration. It's rubbish.

Hi Boneart - I feel for you.
I too have the same issue (Feb 2014) which I have just discovered today as I am not a strong user of all-day events, until today when I tried to schedule annual holidays in my diary.  I can confirm the EXACT SAME issues that you have described with all-day events displacing 24 hrs EARLY for sync Outlook to iOS calendar, and all-day events displaced 24hrs LATE for sync iOS calendar to Outlook.  I also confirm that the issue does not exist for specified time appointments, as you also found.
I note from several other discussion threads that Apple have previously focussed on an issue of all-day events syncing to span 2-days; that is not yet apparent in my situation  BUT I will be watching with interest whether a subsequent synchronisation causes the displaced dates to also synchronise back providing the same event apparently spanning 2 days but ACTUALLY existing as two events with identical properties on successive days.
One oddity is that I also operate in the NZ time zone; I wonder if that is significant???
For a brief period I trialled iCloud with a thrid-party patch to resolve the native iCloud issue of not providing 2-way synch with Outlook.  That worked beautifully ... until Apple provided an update to the iCloud interface which destroyed all functionality for me.  I'm back to hard-wire sync via USB wire again.  Very frustrating!!
Finally it is sad that Apple has no interest in these issues.  It strikes me that as soon as there is a non-Apple platform involved they blame the other system and wash their hands of it.

In settings, general, international, look at your language settings. Are they correct? Also what keyboards in general do you have selected?

Plug it into a wall outlet, & while plugged in, reset it: Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.

If you're trying to sync an iCloud calendar, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar on your iPhone and make sure you have selected your iCloud calendar as your default.

We regularly use Cocktail by Maintain software. You run the whole gamut of options but the important one is in System - Databases - Rebuild launch services. Also in Files - Caches - then clear the lot.
This is just houskeeping really but there are so many 'links' in A/cad it needs 'cleaning'

  • IPhone Calendar: bank-holidays & whole-day-entries 24h early

    Config: iPhone 3GS SW 3.1.3, iTunes 9.1.0.79, WinXP SP3, Outlook 2007 SP2
    Problem-Description:
All bank-holidays (Germany) and most of whole-day-appointments syncronized from Outlook to iPhone are shown one day before the entry in Outlook. E.g. "May, 1st" bank holiday is shown on 30-Apr. "Fronleichnam" should be on 03-Jun-2010, but in iPhone calendar on 02-Jun.
    Troubleshooting so far:
    iPhone reinstallation
    iTunes reinstallation
    .net framework reinstallation
    Outlook-Database reinstallation from backup
Please, are there any hints for solution? Thanks

  • IPhone Calendar Showing Entry 5 Hours Early

    All-
Calendar entries I receive from others into my Outlook 2007 (XP) Calendar appear 5 hours early on my iPhone calendar.
These entries appear in the correct time slot in Outlook.
I sync my Outlook calendar to MobileMe and the entries appear correctly online on www.me.com/calendar.
I have turned the "Time Zone" setting on and off about a hundred times in the past few months I have been experiencing this problem.
When I schedule a new meeting in Outlook 2007 the meeting appears on the iPhone in the correct time.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?
    Again:
    - Calendar invites from others, 5 hrs early on the iPhone
    - Correct in Outlook 2007 (XP)
    - Correct in www.me.com using MobleMe Sync (Windows)
    - Time Zone setting both "on" and "off" - same error
    - Calendar entries I create in Outlook appear on iPhone correctly
    Thanks
    Matt

Depends on your setting.  Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...scroll down to the Calendars section, tap Default Alert Times>Birthdays, set as desired.

  • Why do all events in my calendar show up a day early?

All of my events, birthdays, appointments, etc., show up on my calendar a day before they are supposed to occur.  Birthdays are pulled from my contacts and in my contacts the date shows up correctly, but they all show up a day early in the actual calendar.  The holiday information is automatically pulled as well and each holiday also shows up in the calendar one day early.  Why does it do this and how can I fix it?

Connect your iPhone to you computer with the iPhone's USB connector. If iTunes doesn't sutomatically launch, open iTunes.
In the left hand column of the iTunes window, under Devices, your iphone should be listed.  Click on it, and a Summary Window on about your iPhone will appear.
Just below the Apple at the top center of the iTunes window you'll see "Summary, Info, Apps, Tones, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Photos".  Click on Info.  You'll see options to check like Sync Contacts, Calendars, Mail, Other, and Advanced.  Check the options you want to sync.  Do the same for Tones, Music, Movies, TV Shows, and Photos.
Then Click on the Summary button.  Under the Backup heading, make sure Backup to iCloud is checked.  Then you might have to click the Sync button in the bottom right corner of the iTunes Window (not sure about this last one).
    Good luck.

  • IPhone Calendar Shifting Appoints a day forward

For the past several weeks our organizations has experienced calendar appointments shifting a day forward.  We are only seeing this for multi-day appointments for example....an appointment for Tuesday & Wednesday from 1pm - 4pm will shift to Wed - Thursday and become an all day event. This is only happening with Apple devices with most of our executives.

I think what you are referring to is covered in this Microsoft kb...point 1.6
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2563324
We haven't seen this issue in our organization so I can't say for sure the fix suggested by Microsoft work as they say it does..but hopefully this will steer you in the right direction.

  • All-day Events showing in two days.

Hi there, I own an iMac and a SE w610i mobile phone. When syncing birthdays I see some of them showing appropriately in my phone as one day event while others show starting one day at 1:00hrs and ending the following day at 00:59hrs. I tried a few things in an attempt to have this corrected on the phone to no avail, such as removing that birthdate from my Address Book, restarting the phone.
Does anybody know how to get this fixed? I promise I'll buy an iPhone as soon as I can, but my house was broken in, my iMac stolen and my first priority was to replace the loss. :-[
    Thanks a lot!

Check your time zone support. Sounds like that may be the issue. You may have to check in more than one place.

  • TS3999 My iphone calendar does not sync with my iPad or my windows computer

I do not know why my iPad syncs with my Windows 7 computer and my iPhone, my computer syncs with my iPad, but my iPhone will not sync with eitther of the other two from the iPhone.
In other words, if I add an event on the iPhone calendar, it will not appear on the other two devices.  Please help.  Thank you

Are you trying to sync via iTunes? If so, note that since the release of Mavericks (OS X 10.9) syncing contacts and calendars to a Mac via iTunes is no longer supported. The currently supported method is via iCloud. http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/

  • I have an Iphone 4 and starting two days ago when using either pandora Itunes after two songs i no longer hear sound. This happens whether using the headphones or not. I have to completely turn app off and then back on to get another two songs.

I am not sure why or what happened but for the last two days every time I attempt to listen to any music I am limited to only two songs. I have tried multiple things but nothing is working. The only way for me to get more songs to play is to completely turn the application off and then restart it again. I have to do this repeatedly after only two songs. You can see that the music is still playing but I am getting no sound. Can anyone help with this? Has anyone ever experienced this?

if your minimum term contract has expired then the hub is yours and any warranty has expired.  your monthly payments then revert back to standard terms and any discount you had at outset has ceased.  you then go on a rolling monthly contract and the benefit of keeping that is you can move to another ISP with 30 days notice or 14 days if using a MAC code with no cancellation penalty
in the vast majority of cases if you renogotiate a new contract you can get a better cheaper deal that you are currently paying but you then lose the ability to move at short notice without penalty
you can always phone the options team who are uk based and see what is on offer, including negotiating a new hub, and if you don't like the offer then don't accept  0800800030

  • Time machine back up taking 1 day so removed external HD, now taking TWO days?

    Hi,
I started my time machine back up last night and the estimated time it said it would take was 1 day. I woke up this morning and there was still another 15 hours left. I am only backing up 533GB - is this normal?
I thought maybe my external drive was effecting the backup so I removed it and when I did the time machine started again, now backing up 324 GB but says it's going to take TWO days?! This makes no sense.
Could someone tell me - is it normal for TM to take a day to back up 533GB (certainly can't be normal for 324GB to take TWO)?
And what are the general tips for helping time machine move faster? I'm running OSX 10.8.5.
    Thanks

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're users here and don't speak for "Apple Inc."
How is your (external, I'm assuming) Time Machine storage connected? USB 2, USB 3, FireWire, Thunderbolt, or Ethernet network? If network, then is the storage drive connected with Ethernet or a USB device connected to the network router? 100Mbit or Gigabit Ethernet? Does your MacBook Pro have a wired or wireless connection to the network?
If it's over a network, to a Time Capsule or another NAS (Network Area Storage) device then yes, it could take a day or longer. If your Time Machine drive is Thunderbolt-attached, then that seems a bit long, but there are a number of variables, including the size(s) of the files and types of files(s), and whether they're compressed or encrypted.
My mid-2007 MacBook (1.5Mbit/sec theoretical maximum SATA speed, 3GB usable RAM, 500GB 7200rpm hard drive) took almost two and a half days to back up 350GB to a network-attached Lenovo/iomega server I use for Time Machine via a wireless connection. I don't recommend wireless, by the way, because when verification fails (quite often in my experience), then TM erases all the old backups and demands to begin anew. It required about 18 hours to back up the MacBook when directly connected by RJ-45 Cat 5e cable over Gigabit Ethernet on both devices.
My mid-2011 iMac backs up 350GB via FireWire 800 to a 1TB Time Machine drive in an estimated 11 hours. (I don't know precisely, I went to bed and it was done in the morning.
Time Machine (and most every OS X update and App installation program, for that matter) seems to be quite incapable of predicting ACCURATELY exactly how long the process will take.
I also use CarbonCopyCloner to create a bootable system backup occasionally, so I'm not stuck for a day and a half of restoring from TM just to get back up and running.
Ancient computing proverb: "You can never be too rich or have too many backups."

  • Calendar events are showing up two days early on my iPhone, how do I make them show up on the right day?

Notifications are showing in my notification centre that birthdays are 1 day before they actually occur. Is this a general fault or can it be fixed?
Also, the birthdays have been entered as part of the contact information, if this has any bearing on the answer.

Depends on your setting.  Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...scroll down to the Calendars section, tap Default Alert Times>Birthdays, set as desired.

  • Duplicate calendar entries in iPhone calendar

    Hi
I just bought a new iPhone 4 and today I synced it with my MacBook for the first time. What I realised was that the calendar on the iPhone now has generated multiple entries for one event. How did that happen and how can I prevent this from re-occurring?
    Cheers
    Martin

I've had this happen before but did not find an answer short of erasing the duplicates. The same thing happened with my contacts in Addressbook. Good luck.
