A PC convert in need of help

Firstly I appologize if I am posting in the wrong forum. I am a recent (last week) convert to Mac. I am the proud owner of a new Macbook Pro running leopard 10.5.1. I had no problems setting the system up UNTIL I got to Expose' and Spaces. There is no Icon for either on the Dock. I set them up (I think) in system preferences but the do not seem to be working properly. There is a tiny icon in the menu bar for Spaces. In spaces I can toggle between windows but I can not display all windows at the same time. In Expose' I can clear all windows (F11) but when multiple windows are open the contrast in shading is not evident. Have I done something wrong??

Hi Dezzaj, welcme here in the Forum.
Maybe you should try this setup for Spaces and Expose:
Spaces - Activate = Mouse Button 3 ( on Mighty Mouse)
Expose - all Windows= F9 / or Mouse Button 4
Expose - Applications Window = F10
Expose - Desktop = F11
Dashboard = F12
Maybe that helps ...displaying all Spaces Windows....and having it organized...
aah ya, you can set thse things in system preferences " Expose & Spaces"

Need you help !!! -- Convertion from Char to Date

Dear experts:
I am new to abap and here is one thing need your help:
Currently I have a char type field defined in the source table, after I retrive this field into my work area, I need to convert it to Date type and then calculate the last day of this date.
for example: WA_TEST-CHAR = '20100801'. This value in orignal ECC table is char type.
Then How can I convert this value to a date type, and calculate its last day?
My expected result is "20100731".
BTW, does anybody know how to convert a date type field to a number type field like To_number() or something?. If I need to get the period between 2 different date, how can I get this?

Need urgent help with HSDIO hardware timing

Hi everyone,
I need urgent help regarding HSDIO hardware timing. I've been working in a project which generating serial ramp using HSDIO pxie device.
I'm using clock rate 40MHz and generating 14 bit of boolean for each step of ramp. And I have to generate simply 256 steps ramp.
Which means, 256 (steps) x 14 (boolean array) x 25 ns (period of 1 boolean value) = 89,6 ns.
What I'm doing right now is with using index of FOR loop as my input data (converting the index into 14bit boolean), then write into pxie device in every iteration,
which means, my data is getting into output in every 1ms time, right? (I'm using windows)
And I want to be able to generate faster than that.
How can I prewrite my 256 steps ramp, then write them all at once into pxie device. I'm really stuck here.
In the picture can you see how I do the write into device in every iteration of FOR Loop.

hi, thanks for responding.
with using example of dynamic generation with script, I can manage to generate the ramp with controllable delay (generate the whole waveform, including delay with script command, then write to the card).
But I still have 1 question, I can test the output of the generation using oscilloscope and cant see the start delay (I'm writing delay at the start, before generating the ramp). My signal generated at 0 sec.
How can I check this start delay? is there any good example delivered with Labview to check this generation? Somehow I cant use the "dynamic generation and acquisition" example to see my generation (cant figure out how to capture the generated signal).

The attached form will help you in understanding the dynamic calculations.
Reading the table data with changes in the future..
a) If your application is a standalone application, (means you distribute the .PDF file directly to the users instead of rendering the PDF based on request), then you may need to hard code the data inside the form itself. - In this case, if the table data changes, you need to change the PDF and re-distribute the form.
b) If you are rendering the PDF on the fly based on the request, then you have the option of reading the data from the table (you need to do this in the parent application which is invoking the rendering process) and make it part of the input XML at the time of rendering. You need to write your code to read the XML and do the calculations for each request. - In this case, if the table data changes, PDF will get the latest information beacause the latest info is available in the input XML.

Loading external (PDF)file into BLOB colum in the table. Need urgent help.

I've currently been working on loading many external binary files (PDF) into BLOB column. After some digging, I learn that the SQL*LOADER can be used to load data from external files into table. I also got help from another forummate mentioning to use PL/SQL procedure to do so. Since I have not done anything like this before. So, my question is what is the simple approach needed to upload PDF files into a table(there is only one table containing BLOB column in my database). In addition, the LOBs can not be query-able, I wanted to list the contents of the LOBs column to make sure that I did successfully upload data into the database. How can I do that?. I do need your help. Please direct me step by step how to do so. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Once the PDF file is inserted in the PDM table, i am not able to read the PDF data from the below code, This code converts the binary data into the Character data i.e BLOB data into the CLOB, but still the data is not proper which is getting inserted PDF is proprietary format of Adobe. And you cant just read it from pl/sql. You need Adobe software installed in your client machine to view it.

ACL-list syntax error in PIX after upgrade, need urgent help!

Hello everyone
We have a setup including Cisco ACS + a VPN 3005 Concentrator and a PIX 515E (7.2.4)
We upgraded the PIX version from 7.0 to 7.2.4 and suddenly our downloadable access-list was getting refused when users authenticated against the ACS.
When debuging radius in the PIX we found that entering this line in the downloadable access-list give error and stop the users of getting the ACL.
"deny ip any 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255"
PIX refused to process their auth request when encountering this line.
Fine we said, we changed the ACL syntax to this : deny ip any 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0
This made the PIX process the ACL.
We were happy for awhile until VPN users started to complain.
It seems that the VPN 3005 cant deal with the syntax we entered in the PIX!
The VPN 3005 doesnt seem to be able to handle the acl line "deny ip any 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0" !
It can only handle "deny ip any 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255" !
Which the PIX cant handle..
I'm a loss at what to do here..
We got VPN users who cant surf now with these ACL problems.
What can I do? Anyone else encountered this?
We upgraded the VPN 3005 to the lastest SW version

I don't think Cisco ever changed anything on the PIX. It uses subnet masks from day one AFAIK and VPN Conc uses wildcard masks like IOS. You can use the acl-netmask-convert command on the ASA to fix this issue. This way you define a willdcard ACL on the ACS/AAA server and then use this command on the ASA to use the same downloadable ACL for both devices (PIX,VPNC).

I am a developer and we have big project that needs to be
converted from winhelp to HTML help. I received only the .CHM help
file from the help auther. I added the HTMLhelp.lib file and
HTMLhelp.h file in to my project. I tried to change atleast one
page of the dialog. I added on helpinfo function htmlhelp function
call and hard coded the .chm file path and for the right click I as
well did the same thing. But I am getting "No Help topic is
associated with this item" upon F1 key and crash after the right
click with wincore.cpp error.

Very slow performance running Mavericks - need troubleshooting help

Hello folks:
I have a MBP 2011 which was upgraded to Mavericks from Mountain Lion about 6 weeks ago. Since then I have had a major performance drop - slow machine, very slow window renderings, etc. I know a number of people have been facing these issues and have been recommended to clean up 3rd party extensions/agents. Western Digital My Book 1148 3 TB    WD drives are one of the worst things that can happen to a mac. They have software on the drive and also in the firmware of the drive enclosure that is incompatible with Mavericks. The software that they also want you to install on your mac (to run the drive with the shitware on it that is incompatible with Mavericks) is also incompatible with Mavericks. The best thing to do with this drive is to open it and remove the hard drive and put it into a new (non-WD) enclosure. Then smash the WD enclosure into little bits with a sledgehammer and mail it back to WD.

If your performance is not improved after removing the WD app and this extension, you should probably back up your documents, erase your HD, and do a clean reinstall of Mavericks.

If the file was not originally from iTunes, you'll need to redownload it from it's original source or rerip it from the CD. Files can sometimes go bad and become corrupted. As to how or why that happens, there are a number of ways.
What format are the problematic tracks in? Have you tried converting them to another format in iTunes?

Hi,
I need some help to try to understand some of my issues; i'm creating a catalogue for a company and i'm uploading TIFFs pictures (600 of them). My problem is that this catalogue is both for print and web but is getting really heavy as a file, is there another way to convert all the pictures and maintain the quality for print and a reasonable size for web?
I'm uploading TIFFs because i need the transparency and i can't upload as PNG...
Can someone help me please.

Choose either file size (for web) or image quality (for print). Something has to give.
This "for web" business, is that still a PDF? Then export for print with full resolution, and export another version to put online where yo adjust the export settings for the web until image quality is worse than having a megabyte or two more.

Need some help: About DVD/BD authoring in Encore 5.1

Hello everyone,
I am new to Adobe Encore 5.1 (newly switched to)
I was wondering if anyone could help me with problems that i am currently dealing with.
I made some dvd everything works great in my laptop and dvd player, but when i sent those dvds to my favorite in America, she is telling that dvds aren't playing on her player there.
before creating my projects i did a little bit of research for creating dvds NTSC specifically that could be playble in US, but i guess it wasn't enough.
Anyways, all default footages were recorded in PAL system and I edited and converted them to NTSC system with Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0 application.
For dvd menus, I used Sony DVD Architect Studio 5.0 again NTSC default setting, from what i understood was that, DVD Architect studio creates free region and i didnt find any option for selecting region 1, 2 or 3, like Encore 5.1.
it seems to be a bit complicated or something, i need to make the things right. and i need your help.
I have another question, is it possible to make all your editings in Sony vegas and use Encore 5.1 for dvd or blu ray authoring.

If she was able to play the menu, but not the movie, that's good. If not, you can also post the psd of the menu for us to test.
Thank you for replying back. Yesterday I contacted her back about those DVDs, she told me that 2 DVDs are working perfectly but other 2 dvds are giving format error on her Blu ray player. I assume, it might be burning problem or encoding, but all dvds are made with same settings. it's really weird to me.
About the content, I am not allow to upload them (upon my friend's request), but i will record some footage with the same setting and I will upload them here.

I have a cleaner copy now after someone suggested GIMP, so played with it last night - though couldn't figure out transparency - that was clear on converter- just not cooperative till these wonderful directions.
So now I know how to do it without messing with the pic, and with messing with it - both good lessons and got a bit brighter color out of the deal.
