A PERMANENT fix to crashing Apps?

I have the iPod Touch 2g, with 3.0 firmware installed, NOT JAILBROKEN! As most people know, ALL installed Apps keep crashing. I want to know a PERMANENT fix to this.

I don't always have internet/WiFi access 24/7/365. I DO go out a lot, and most places don't have WiFi either. So I want a permanent fix that does NOT require WiFi to do. If anyone has any helpful information on this, I'd really like to know. I'm on my Second iPod touch this year, mainly BECAUSE of the Apps crashing. My other one was subject to an "accidental" fist dropping. <edited by host>

seriously, there is no need for even veiled swearing and rudeness. we only come here to help to the best of our ability (or to solve a problem.) if you go around telling people to "GTFO" (an acronym I haven't come across, but I can pretty much guess by the tone of the rest of your comment what it might stand for), they are going to be far less likely to want to help you. we understand you are frustrated because your iPod isn't behaving in the way you expect it to, but it isn't our fault, politeness costs nothing.
apps crash from time to time, that's just life i'm afraid. as technology gets better and better, iPods are becoming more and more like computers, have you ever known a computer where nothing ever goes wrong? (cue a big comeback from mac users claiming they've never had problems - i've read differently).
some apps are more frequent crashers than others, it depends a bit on what they are and what they do.
IF your apps are crashing on a more frequent basis than 'every so often' then you may have more of a problem.
you've obviously asked this question before, and have got the normal offered solutions i.e.
1) installing a new app
2) reset (i.e. hold the power and home button until the silver apple logo appears)
this fixes it for a lot of people, but things don't always work for everyone. have you tried the other troubleshooting steps?
notably a restore? (using itunes)
if no, try it, first from backup then from new. if yes, i suggest you take it to apple and ask them about it.

    I have exactly the same problem with my iPod touch 5. The Lovoo application hijacks me to the App Store constantly. It is a nightmare. This is disgusting.

    I am having the same problem as many of you. 3G iPhone. 2.0.2.
    In the past 3 weeks I have had at least 5 if not 8-10 examples of loss of all iPod content and access to all apps. I know this happens on 2.0.2 and I know it happened at least a couple of times on 2.0.1. I am fairly certain that it never happened on 2.0.0.
    This seems to happen EVERY time that the iPod crashes and reboots itself or when I force a hard reset. I haven't tried with a normal turn off/shut down in fear of having to go through this whole process again.
    I have a solution that while not optimal works EVERY TIME!
    1. Do a "reset all settings" from general settings. This will wipe out the set up of an exchange mail client, but not Yahoo, Gmail, or POP. While a pain this only takes a few minutes to reset up. It will not touch any app settings, high scores, etc. Additionally, all of your apps will need to reordered on the screen if you are like me and like certain ones to be on certain pages. Again, a pain, but this takes 5-10 minutes max for 4 pages worth of apps. Additionally, you will need to change any other personalized settings that you have set up (ring tones, favorites, brightness, etc.) At this point all iPod content will be back, but apps still won't work.
    2. Go to the app store and download any app that you want. This will have you reinputing your username and password. Once this is compthe app is fully downloaded and installed you will have access to all of your apps again and your phone will work perfectly UNTIL THE NEXT TIME YOU HAVE TO DO THIS. Note, during this step, I have done a hard reset multiple times and gone through a overly long Apple logo time frame (and sometimes even hard reset during the Apple logo again) but this has yet to have any ill effect. Once the phone comes back up all apps works and all iPod content is there.
    Finally, I have now stopped downloading or updating apps directly from the phone if at all. As this often causes or requires a hard reset.
    Generally I get one to two days before having to do this again.
    Please know I am not suggest this is all OK and I am barely tolerating this as it should just get fixed, but this is pretty easy and while monotonous on the 5th+ time, it isn't that time consuming and has worked every time.

    Some "movies' are actually Flash files.
    This means the Flash App will play them (possibly in a browser in some cases).
    Depending where this item is and how it is playing it may be effected by other things
    A web page can include javascript.
    Apple uses javascript here to help with creating the posting box, the Edit options, Adding pics/smilies and the like.
    Sometimes the javascript can be what is called a runaway process and gets sort of stuck in an endless loop.
    If it is a free standing item then it might be triggered by AppleScript on the Mac. (or be modified in some way)
    Again if the Script (normally written with a upper case S) is not perfect it can cause problems.

    It has no correlation.  You do not have to have an Apple ID in order house an iPhone.  An Apple ID is only needed to use iCloud and iTunes & App Store on an iPhone.  You can have an iPhone set up as new, no user data whatsoever, and still connect to wi-fi. 
    Making a new Apple ID had nothing to do with fixing the wi-fi on your iPhone.  It's like saying that putting a new driver into a car suddenly fixed the transmission problem.

  • IPad (original) running 5.1.1 crashing apps

    Hoping someone can help. I have a second hand iPad 1 which was running fine until I updated it to 5.1.1. Now it crashes apps every couple of minutes and is basically unuseable. The app that crashes the most is actually Apples own app, the App Store. I see I am not the only one having this kind of problem. I have closed all open apps, "reset" using back and home buttons, and even restored the software before restoring the iPad from my backup. It still crashes. Unsure what to do next. Any ideas?

    I've got my firmware restored 4 times, and the app store still crashes.
    But my iPad2 running on 5.1.1 doesn't seems to be having this issue.
    And so does my wife's iPad3.
    It gave me an impression that they wanted to abandon the original iPad support discreetly... unless someone can provide me a satisfactory answer AND a solution.

    I noticed that many dozens of others have expressed the same problem with Thunderbird, but it still continues.
    For no apparent reason, sporadically, some emails don't show up in the inbox list of an account, but are actually there. If we're told later that someone sent one, and if we do a search at that time, it does come up!
    We rely on this for business, and wouldn't know to search if we are unaware that an email has come in but simply doesn't appear in the list. We have actually lost significant business $ on 3 separate occasions, from clients who have said they emailed us, but we never responded! (That's really bad, and even worse because they also won't use us any more.)
    Obviously, we of course would not want to have to check with the webmail host when we have Thunderbird. So...., how can we permanently fix this problem so it never, ever occurs??? We used to use Eudora before switching, and this never happened.
    Some blogs say to delete one of the files in the system to re-index the inboxes, but again, that would not be the answer, because we wouldn't know to do that, nor when to do that, since some emails, without a warning or clue, occasionally simply don't show up in the list at all.
    Please let us know the permanent and complete fix for this ASAP.

    Lers, I have used Thunderbird for the best part of a decade and have only once experienced something similar to what you describe and it was a corrupt database.
    So lets just back up a bit.
    If you want mail to flow without issue the first bullet to bite is anti virus.
    * Scanning of outgoing mail is a total waste of time and an added risk for no return. You anti virus already certifies your machine clean.
    * Scanning of incoming mail is of extremely limited value. Thunderbird does not allow scripts in email, so there is no bug that will junmp out and start running even if your mail is not scanned and it contains a virus. The exception to that is attachments. But they are not dangerous either, unless you try and open them. Even then your anti virus should be monitoring the temporary folder on your computer and blocking any attempt to write the infected file, let alone execute the contents.
    * Scanning of your mail folder likewise is of limited value, but is more than often the cause of mail indexes not being updated. These days anti virus program appear to scan everything. Every file as it is accessed and opened. Thunderbird often has quite large files to store mail, up to 4Gb is not all that uncommon. Anti virus program take about 2 minuted per Gigabyte to scan files. So it can be the case that the anti virus is scanning while Thunderbird is timing out waiting for access to the appropriate files.
    To make things more efficient exclude your Thunderbird mail profile folders from on access scanning by your anti virus program. The folders contain NO executable programs, and a weekly scan along with the rest of your computer with Thunderbird closed should be more than adequate. Perhaps scheduled for1am Friday. Gives Friday to deal with anything found and does not interrupt your use of the device.
    A similar exclusion can also be beneficial for other data storage areas (databases especially)
    Finally look at what processes run on your computer. there aerew by default about 40 when it is new and over time this grows with almost every security, office or game you install until your computer is so busy running background processes to check if the latest versions of XXXX has been released that it becomes sluggish and performance on most things is degraded (That common nugget of Windows computers getting slower over time is TRUE, but a large part of that is added processes and security software which is actually reducing performance quite extensively.)
    BTW right clicking a folder, selecting properties and the repair button rebuilds the index non destructively as deleting the files as you mention also looses tags.

    I Think all the info you need is contained in my question as the problem is solved by pressing CTRL+F5 but what I want to do is make a permanent fix.
    This problem only occurs in FF4, never had it in any previous version of firefox which I have been using for the last 5 years.
    Plusnet and E-bay are examples of pages that fail to load correctly.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

    Also make sure that you allow Firefox in the firewall. You may need to remove all rules for Firefox in the firewall and let the firewall ask again for permission.
