A picture iBooks on my ipad 2 won't open a picture in pdf. It blinks and takes me back to the main screen.

I have saved a picture in pdf form to my ipad2, but when I attempt to open it, the screen blinks and returns to the main screen. How can I fix this? Thanks!

This is my boilerplate response when app downloads are stalled or in the "waiting" mode. There are a bunch of things here to try.
Tap on the "installing" icon and see if you can pause the install, then tap on it again in order to resume the install.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Make sure that you do not have a stalled download in iTunes - a song or podcast .... if you have a download in there that did not finish, complete that one first. Only one thing can download and install at a time on the iPad so that could be what is causing the problem.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and see if the install resumes.
If all else fails, download the updates or the apps in iTunes on your computer and then sync the content to your iPad.

I have an Ipad 2, I recently downloaded IOS 7.0.4, now when I open up Safari to search the internet it will come up for a split second then dissapear and take me back to the home screen. So it wont even let me search for anything.

I'm not able to follow the program flow from your post. Please create a small standalone program that exhibits the problem and post that back here.
Your assumption re a NPE is correct, that's the only way they're generated.
There are no "canned" methods to resolve NPEs. The best solution is to put System.out.println statements for all of the involved objects and variables immediately preceeding the error line (in this case, 110) and something will show null. Usually that's enough info to backtrace to the real cause.

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. My iPad 1 is turning off an app and going back to the main screen at odd times. I've already updated it... to no avail. Do I need to reset it to factory defaults and reload everything?

It turns off many apps at random times.
Plus, it won't let me go to the next level of Plants and Zombies! I've played the same level about 15 times... it goes all the way through the level and then cuts out when it is giving me extra points for my lawn mowers. Then it goes to the main screen... then when I go back into the game... I'm at the beginning of the level all over again!

I'm unsure what you mean but "factory reset" but first try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

I had the same issue. After searching around online I found out that you can try downloading another app (it can be any app) onto your ipod. After it finishes downloading see if your other apps open. You don't even have to keep the new app. Just see if your other ones work and you can delete the new one. That should work. If not, try to hard reset it. This is typically a memory issue - meaning, you have too many apps running. You don't mention your device and iOS version so it's difficult to say. Try this...
Double click the Home button and close all open apps.
Reset your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

I think you wanted to say App Store. Mac App Store is only available in Macs, not on an iPad.
She probably enabled restrictions. Open Settings > General > Restrictions, and disable them by using the password she set. If she doesn't remember it, you have to restore your device to default settings in Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings, losing everything stored in the device
