A plethora of problems.

Hello,
I recently purchased a Neuros MPEG-4 Recorder II ( www.neurosaudio.com ) It was what I thought would be a good addition to my Powerbook G4 12" and my 60gb 5th Generation iPod. I have several TV shows recorded (most of season 2, Battlestar Galactica) in the following format:
Video: MPEG-4 -- 30 fps 640x480 @ 2mbps
Audio: AAC -- stereo 128kbps
I transfered these files onto my Powerbook G4 12" and compressed them via ffmpeg:
Video: MPEG-4 -- 25 fps 480x270 @ 600kbps (I cropped it into 16x9 because the shows 16x9, and the reason I have it in a higher resolution than the iPod's native display is because I'm going to be outputting these to a TV on a vacation I have planned this summer, and I'm going to be leaving the Neuros at home with my roommate because he has some stuff to record.)
Audio: AAC -- stereo 128kbps
I then had 13 ".mp4" videos to add to my iTunes (6.0.1) Library. They added with no errors, and they play just fine in iTunes and Quicktime. This is when the problems began. I was sorting my videos (editing the tags), adding them to a playlist because I can't change their category to "TV Shows" (which later on in the new release that is 6.0.2 I find that I can) and adding the Artist as "Battlestar Galactica" and the Album as "Season 2."
I plugged my iPod in and it initiated the "update" sequence. BAM! It was done after half the time I had expected! I scrolled around on my iPod and found that only half the videos had been transfered! NO!!!
I immediately started checking my settings, restarting my iPod, and all that jazz. I went online and searched for solutions, but I found that no one had encountered this problem before. I finally gave up and called 1-800-275-2273. I had been defeated. I was actually calling Tech Support. Something I thought I would never had to do.
Phone call # 1:
Case # 52935690
I find out that I'm using an old version of iTunes. I update.
iTunes 6.0.2:
NONE of the videos transfer and it actually ERASES the ones I had on my iPod!!
Nooooooooooo!!
I also find out that I am allowed to change the category of video to "TV Shows."
But that's all I can do.
Phone call # 2:
No case number was given to me.
I am told that Apple never stated that the iPod CAN play home videos, just that it is POSSIBLE. It's only "supposed" to play the iTunes encryption ones.
FALSE.
The Apple website CLEARLY states that the iPod 5G can play, and I quote, "* H.264 video up to 768 kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per second; MPEG-4 video up to 2.5mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per second." Whether or not the videos were purchased from the iTunes Music Store, they ARE encoded within the standards stated on the website. And I have seen them being played on my iPod before! I asked the girl I talked to about tags and how to set the *Show and *Season of the videos and she had no answer.
I convert the videos using iTunes' now "integrated" (hardly deserves the word, considering that I have NO choices of bitrate, resolution and format ... basically I am selling my soul to the devil, and he's bringing it back for a refund.) The videos transfer and play on my iPod no problem. (except for the fact that they aren't in the right category and I wasnt able to set the *Show and *Season..)
I came to the conclusion that only videos that have been converted using iTunes (or Quicktime PRO) or bought from the iTunes Music Store can be transfered to my iPod.
All I want are my Battlestar Galactica Season 2 episodes on my iPod in 480x270 700kbps mpeg-4 25fps / aac-lc @ 128 kbps. And I want them to have the right tags, so they can be put in with any Battlestar Galactica episodes I've purchased from the iTunes Music Store. (*Show and *Season)
Cheers,
Ted Roddy
Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   1280mb ram

When I was using iTunes 6.0.1 I did this. I changed them all back to "Movies" (which apparently I have to do one by one, I can't change them all at once...) and I added them to a playlist. Then when I went to the playlist, still only half the movies were there.
Now with the new version of iTunes, none of them show up at all, not even the playlist.

  • Plethora of problems on brand new mid 2010 13" MacBook Pro

This computer is about a month old and has been behaving very strangely since just a few days into its life.
    Symptoms:
    1. Computer would freeze or otherwise become unresponsive after being woken from sleep.
    2. Music would keep playing long after iTunes has been shut down. Repeatedly starting up iTunes again and shutting it down only produced an additional layer of sound. Only remedy was to reboot.
    3. Freeze (I gave up waiting after half an hour) on the boot HD choice screen for Bootcamp with Windows 7. It would keep displaying the 2 hard drives on a grey background, fans would spin up, northbridge felt incredibly hot. After about 5 attempts with booting directly into Windows 7 from Mac OS X from the System Preferences > Startup Disk pane, the choice screen started working properly.
    4. Safari 5 sometimes slows down and/or beachballs, plus often crashes while browsing casually. I have not been able to find the source of this problem. It's not Flash, not embedded Quicktime video, I don't know what it is.
    5. Computer would randomly adjust keyboard backlighting and screen brightness without any change in light conditions, in the middle of the night for example. Manually adjusting screen brightness right after waking the laptop from sleep recently froze it indefinitely.
    6. Mouse cursor sometimes lags for a second or so, only to recover in performance.
*I tried to fix the problem:*
    1. Running all the latest software possible, on every front, down to plug-ins and 3rd party apps. Never attempted any system modifications, themes, or other mods.
    2. Checked HD with Disk Utility, repaired permissions. Same again, but with Drive Genius 3. No problems were detected.
    3. I have reset my PRAM and the SMC/PMU.
    Results:
    1. Fan now speeds up uncontrollably and randomly almost up to the maximum 6200 rpm. I have never, ever, witnessed such speeds before under any amount of load. This can occur while browsing the Finder, while watching HD video off Youtube with ClickToFlash, or while looking at simple text webpages. The fan would never spin up this much before, not even while attempting to watch 4K video in Flash which I suppose is quite taxing.
    2. None of the other problems have gone away.
    3. In Windows 7, I still got solid gaming performance, although I have obviously never let it fall asleep under Windows in sheer fear of what might occur. I have not tried running Windows after the PRAM and SMC/PMU reset yet.
    Questions:
    1. Is this normal to occur on a brand new laptop? If it isn't, what can I do to fix it?
    2. If there is nothing else I can do, how can/will Apple help me? I am tired of not being sure whether or not my computer will perform or not, and I need it for things like rushed coursework and presentations.
Thank you all for your advice in advance. I am truly frustrated and will appreciate all the help I can get.

Since waking it up 2 hours ago, I can no longer use the MacBook Pro in OS X. It unavoidably freezes right after connecting to the internet.

  • TS3276 since upgrading to Lion I have had a plethora of problems.  First my mailboxes are not working like they were.  The yahoo mailbox keeps telling me my password is not correct.  Also, when I log on several of my programs (i.e. Neat, iTunes) just pop

I have two mailboxes.  My Yahoo mailboxe keep telling me I have the wrong password and the mailbox ap keeps popping up.  I believe this is then screwing up my Outlook mailbox which is my work email account.  I had it configured fine and then upgrade to Lion.  Since upgrading my mailboxes are challenging to keep up and running.   Also, when I log in several of my programs autimatically pop up (NEAT, iTunes, etc), kind of like all the ads did when I was using MS.  Any ideas of why this is happening?  Is it a Lion issue?  What can I do to fix?

    Hellow keith5000 ,
regarding your issue lets see what we can do to solve this issue.
    - have you tried safe boot
safe boot = starting up the mac with the SHIFT- button.
    - when entering safe mode you will be able to enter and quick change some settings
now next question do the unwanted aplications still load in safe mode , if so
go to the Apple icon -> System preferences -> user & groups -> login items (top right on the screen from user & groups window)  now at login items u can close any unwanted aplications by deleting them or unmarking them
    - unwanted aplications will now disapear when starting up your mac os x system
    - next issue should be your authentication , this will be a bit more tricky , lets see
same category user & groups and u will see your admin account try seeing if u have enabled the admin account right click on your admin account to see information about it and compare it if your info is correct , next see if you have authorized your admin account to write & read.
if these still don't work , make a test account to see if this problem is user wide or system wide.

  • Photoshop cs4 new system integration and network problems

    Hi there!
I am new to the forums, but I will just dive right into my issue rather than introducing myself:
I recently did a new hardware install (16 TB of clustered storage) at a mograph studio that are heavy users of Photoshop CS4, amongst other things.  Prior to the new storage, they primarily used an Xserve with attached RAID device, and CS3.  They are now experience high amounts of file corruption on PSDs from saving over the network.  I am, of course, aware the Adobe does not support network saving, due to the plethora of problems that may exist and the difficulty of recreating such varied environments.  I also know that neither Apple nor Adobe seem overtly concerned with this problem, although they may have fixed it with updates in CS3.  The users are aware of this fact, but continue to stress that they had "no problems what so ever on the xserve".
Basically, aside from the facts that are available in http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406793.html and found on the forums, has ANYONE found an exceptable work around for these sort of issues.  Also, we tried the "save as" fix that was posted on these forums, and that did not work either.
Please, any help is extremely appreciated.  Thanks

If you have a working network and servers -- it can work. (and does for most of the servers inside Adobe, and those in my home)
But if anything (OS, network, server) malfunctions -- the process breaks in difficult to diagnose ways.
Photoshop is already following all the safe file save guidelines, testing for permissions, testing for space availability, etc.  But still things fail on networks.  And when we look into the failures, it's rarely the same cause and usually can't be worked around in any reasonable manner.
As application developers, we're frustrated too.  We know it can work.  We know it should work.  But some things are too far beyond our control.
Bottom line:  Finder and Explorer add a lot more error checking to server file copies, and do their copies in relatively simple patterns (unlike file saves that can involve random seeks and writes, depending on the format).  Saving locally and copying to the server afterward is going to be safer (adds at least 2 more layers of error checking).  The same goes for copying from the server then opening -- though we see far fewer errors reading from a server than writing to a server.

  • From KDEmod to KDE, problems

    Hi.
I had installed KDEmod and I deleted it yestarday (pacman -R kdemod-uninstall) then i installed kde (pacman -S kde).

    - I can't normally shutdown computer (no option in menu > leave)
    - I can't set processor speed for powersave etc.
    Please help.

I dis the same as you some time ago, i.e. switched from kdemod to arch kde...I ran the command
    pacman -R kde-meta
to solve my problems.   When I tried to simply install kde I ran into a plethora of problems.  Also make absolutely sure that you have no kdemod packages lyinga around before you do the update, run
    pacman -Q | grep kdemod
and uninstall all packages.  Also least but not last, make sure you are not in the kde desktop enviroment when you run these commands.  Hope this helps.

  • [close]testing xorg, evdev mouse, keyboard problems

    found this thread http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=44311
just updated this morning, have testing active. running KDEmod, my mouses movement now seem to be restricted to a verticle movement up and down screen,  keyboard also seems to be exhibiting some strange behaviour. I'm guessing this is something to do with evdev, hal changes mentioned in the upgrade help text. Anybody got any ideas?
    thanks

Does export SDL_VIDEO_X11_DGAMOUSE=0 in your .bashrc and restarting X help? Or if that doesn't work does recompiling Xorg with https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13808 help? well i don't think so... I think this is a udev issue where udev changes & creates new devices confusing the X server thus leading to the plethora of problems mentioned here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/buglist.cg … arch=mouse where the keyboard can sometimes influence the mouse etc.. I know iv'e had a bunch of these errors previously..

  • Multiple problems with upgrading to Leopard

I am upgrading my sister's Macbook Pro from 10.4 to 10.5 and I am have a plethora of problems.
I bought the family pack of the Leopard and installed in onto two different computers [My Macbook and my mum's PowerBook]. They both installed completely fine with not a hiccup.
I started to upgrade my sister's like normal, when it had some sort of directory problem. We then restarted her computer and restarted the upgrade. Then, it complained of the disk being dirty, so I restarted her computer once more [without removing the disk because it wasn't allowing me], but it was stuck on the blue screen for quite some time where my impatience got the best of me and I restarted the computer two more times, then it finally went to the install menu, where I proceeded to try to upgrade the computer once more, but it complained of the disk being dirty.
So then I went to the menu and had the computer start up on the harddrive instead of the install CD, but now it is at her startup screen, asking for her name and password. She has entered her name and password that she uses on the computer [such as for software updates], and it has denied it.
What do we do from here?
We restart the computer, and even though the install CD is in the drive, it doesn't start the computer on it, rather just goes to the login screen now.
Please try to give any clues/advice as what to do.
And no. We didn't backup the computer before attempting this, since my two other installs were so successful. I guess I should have thought of Murphy's Law, hmm?

Do you have the ability to backup her drive now? If so, do this:
    1. Hold down the "T" key on her machine, and start it up.
    2. Connect it, and the backup drive to a third machine.
    3. Now, copy your sisters machine to the backup, using Carbon Copy Cloner (free. Google for it)
    4. After you do the copy, dismount the devices, and hold the T again, to shut down her machine.
No, before we continue, let's remove the DVD from her machine and clean it. Restart her machine, and hold down the mouse click. Wait, it takes some time. It will eject the disk. Now, take and very lightly dampen 5-6 pieces of toilet paper. Wipe the disk surface. With 5-6 dry pieces, dry it off. Get the edges, and the center hole real well.
Now, if you get this far, the machiine might start up again. You can reapply Leopard, or, do this:
    1. Startup from leopard
    2. Select the language
    3. From the next page, go to "Tools" ad select Disk Utlity. Perform an erase and install.
    4. Now, Migrate as instructed on restart, from that external backup you made with CCC.

  • Yet another htmlText problem!

As I know htmlText has it's plethora of problems, I have been able to work around a few of them. However, after trying many different things, I cannot seem to fix this one:
    <mx:Text htmlText="{_articleText}" width="100%" fontSize="12" color="0x282828" />
    In the script, I set _articleText = "<img src='"+dataProvider.imageURL(_model.account.id)+"' align='"+dataProvider.imageAlignment+"' />"+dataProvider.body;
This is fine, the image aligns to the left or right and is loaded in correctly, but I notice the element cuts off 3-4 lines of text from the bottom. It just looks like it disappeared, but if you highlight and scroll down you can see that the text is there, but the element is miscalculating the height.
Apparently it is due to the measure method of text not taking into account leading? How can I work around this?
    Thanks.

    Oh, and one other question..
Is there any way to put a border on an image in htmltext? I suppose border="1" and padding="2" were too complex to include in the htmlText language for whatever reason, so I was wondering if there is a different way?

  • New HD, HD cable, and re-installed OS, and several applications not cooperating: what to do?

    MacBook Pro mid/late 2009, 13", 10.6.8
    Hi, all.
Thanks in advance to all who can point me in the right direction!
Although this (may) sounds like a software issue at the outset, I have been directed to this (OSX 10.6) forum.  [My original post is under the iLife/iPhoto forum and the thread is titled "iPhoto 8.1.2 doesn't work after reinstalled the OS 10.6.8?".  If you are interested to see a couple brief comments of what others have had to say, check it out.]
In short, I have two applications (Mail and my precious iPhoto) that give a lengthy "Problem Report" when I attempt to open them, and two applications (Launchpad and Notes) that tell me I can't run the application with this version of mac OS.  I have attempted to re-install Mail and iPhoto with no success and I have re-installed the OS (10.6 disc, 10.6.3 disc, and Software Update's 10.6.8) with no progress towards fixing Mail and iPhoto.
    Here is the story:
iPhoto will not open and gives the error message ("Check with the developer to make sure iPhoto works with this version of Mac OS X.......")--as does Mail.  (On another note, Launchpad and Notes, when attempting to open, give a me a, "You can't use this version of the application Launchpad with this version of Mac OSX.  You have 10.6.8.  The app requires 10.7 or later."  Although, I do not use Launchpad or Notes, it would be nice to have all applications working again.)
I have tried reinstalling iPhoto (carefully, i.e., removing the old app and pkg files) with no luck.  Note that in this case, I am using an iLife disc.
Hardware story:  My computer had a plethora or issues several months ago--eventually not booting--I left it alone for a couple months while using a friend's computer in the interim.  Eventually I had my laptop diagnosed as a having a bad HD.  I replaced it myself (upgrading to a Western Digital, 7200 rpm and 750 GB).  I had to troubleshoot when it came time to erase the new HD and ended up replacing the HD cable--then my computer was up and running (thus, although I have not checked experimentally, my old HD may actually have been OK all along).
Software story: I reinstalled my OS (10.6 from disc, 10.6.3 from disc, 10.6.8 using Software Update).  Then restored using the most recent Time Machine backup prior to my computer initially having "a plethora of problems"--TM backup from external HD.  If you've read all this, you are now caught up.  My computer boots like a charm, Firefox works, Microsoft Office applications work, even iTunes works.  But my precious iPhoto, Mail, and a couple other applications will not cooperate.
Here is the "Problem Report for iPhoto" minus all of the lines below "Binary images" (Note that the Problem Report when attempting to open Mail is more or less the same, e.g., the Dyld Error Message is the same):

  • I am going to switch carriers in August if you do not roll back my phone software (KitKat issues)

I just spent 6 hours trying to find a solution online to a plethora of problems I and my wife are experiencing since we updated our Droid Razr Maxx HD phones to 4.4.2 (Kit Kat).  I learned:
    1.  We are not alone.
    2.  Because we did not "root"our phones before the update, we are not able to roll back the OS ourselves.
    3.  We are stuck with what are now two phones that do not perform to our expectations.
I have a total of 5 devices on my account and I pay you $370 per month for service.  I WILL change carriers when our contract is up on August 8th if you do not restore our phones to the previous software.  Spare me the excuses, promises of a future fix, etc.  I am done.
    Sincerely,
Alex ( you may locate my account info through the email associated with this post )

  • I've been using my Air since Sept. 19th, but I seem to have some bugs...

But it SEEMS a little buggy to me—OS X itself; especially in comparison to Windows (please don't start a debate—I'm pro-Mac here, I much prefer it, please believe that. You'll see when you read further ahead). I adore the computer more than any I've ever used, since updating to Mavericks my battery lasts 16 hours long which is just UNBELIEVABLE. Yet then there are the annoyances that don't happen with Windows...
Safari really bugs up a lot. So do a few other of the apps. Yeah, Apple has apps that actually work, whereas most of Windows stuff is bloatware; but I do get bugs with Gmail on Mail, Safari slowing down and having other graphical problems where the bottom or top of the browser won't show completely, all of the wi-fi problems, and now with Mavericks there are more. The biggest one is Spotlight failing. Others, SOME fixed [partially] with workarounds, are the rainbow cursor showing up all the time on Safari causing force restarts [partially fixed; still have to force start sometimes but no more rainbow-freezing, just unable to two-finger scroll], Safari Web Content taking up 30-100% CPU [fixed with workaround and fixed completely since Mavericks], and the computer itself is, while charging (or plugged in via USB; haven't checked the other ways), actually seemingly giving off some type of static vibration.
I LOVE Spotlight and it not opening kills me. I didn't do a fresh install with Mavericks so I'm unsure what would've changed. I did the update it offered me from my computer.
I'm really new to Macs, having only received my very first on the 19th of September, but I just adore it. The trackpad is literally the best thing ever invented... ever. Coming from using an iPad for a couple hundred days without using a computer at all, the change to using the trackpad gestures and the OS X ecosystem was very, very easy for me. I'm truly amazed at how similar OS X is to iOS. How the heck did they manage that?
Anyway, realistically, the best bet is to change to Chrome or a different browser that may mess up and cause less bugs and memory leaks (or whatever it is that Safari was doing), but I actually like Safari and how it links up with my iPhone and iPad.
Mainly what I'm asking here is are you guys having these problems? Also, should I stick with Safari? Is there another way to use iCloud with a different browser? Everything I have is Apple, so it's just nice having that one nice, central, similar ecosystem, without annoying and time-consuming workarounds. I love how Apple is natively configured to work with SO much (it's notification center is absolutely amazing. I think it's so cool)
Should I really go into one of those "get to know your Mac" sessions at the Genius Bar? I'm not a computer moron entirely.
P.S. iTunes doesn't like to play iTunes Radio. It'll stop playing and just "load" a song continually. I'll have to skip the song for it to restart playing and eventually I'll have to use all the skips for my hour and then I'll have to switch to a new station and back to get it to start playing again. I actually use iTunes Radio for a good 14-15+ hours a day (I don't sleep very much) on the Air, so this gets rather annoying. I can't recall whether or not it does this on my iPhone, which I also always use whenever I go out the door.
Needless to say, I'm never going back to Windows; but are any of you having these same—the whole plethora of—problems that I am? It's certainly, hilariously, not enough to send me back to Windows, but... I'd prefer as "close to perfect" an experience as possible. Is this it? Thank you!

Can you get an internet connection if you connect directly to the modem?

  • Why won't my ipad connect to the wifi after I updated it to ios 7.1.2

Never have I ever been so upset at an electronic device
If I had know my iPad would cause such distress after this update I wouldn't have attempted it.
Because of this bloody update a plethora of problems have appeared and I have no clue how to fix it.
Firstly at around 4 this morning the wifi connection was spotty so I had to keep on reconnecting, but that was fixed by getting closer to the router. I thought "problem solved no biggie right?" WRONG! I left my house and came back expecting the wifi to connect again, but that was a fail.
SOOOOO I figured I needed to forget the network and log back in. That didnt work. I should not have done that. I should not have done that.
I got the *Unable to join the network. Dismiss* crap over and over and over again!
So now I figured I'd look up some help! Why not give it a go! So i got that whole (general-  reset- reset network) with or without turning on airplane mode bs. Didnt work. Trust me I tried both.Twice.
Since that didnt work I figured a reboot would. No. I turned my iPad off so many times I probably gave the poor thing whiplash
Now this has been going on all day and I finally gave in an hour ago and decided if I restore it to the ios 7.1.1 it'll work again.
Well it must be my freakin birthday cause guess what? You have to turn off your icloud's "find my ipad"to restore and to do that you need a........ wait for it................. internet connection!!!! Brilliant. Just. Brilliant. -_-
Do you FEEL my struggle yet????
all my problems...... they all lead to that dang wifi connection. Fml.
Any of you magical smarty pants have any help for this poor unfortunate soul.
    it would be much appreciated.
    Amnesty

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Help please!  How to restore Firmware pre update?

I accidentally interrupted the SMC Firmware Update and now I have a plethora of problems.
Please, can you lead me to a restore solution?
    Thanks so much!!

Call Apple. You may need a new logic board. There is no software fix for it.

  • Disk utility crashes every time I try to run it. Help!

My Macbook (late 2008 aluminum unibody running Snow Leopard 10.6.8) is having a plethora of problems - Spotlight won't return any results, I can't get any .dmg files to mount, and software updates can't be installed. 1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

  • Video out to Sony A1U: Sound, Still Image

I'm sure someone has had this issue and I know its old, but I gotta get this TV show out for tomorrow and I"ve had a plethora of problems tonight. I've played DVNTSC material out to my Sony A1U before with no problems. I now shoot on Canon 60D and I edit in Pro Res LT, then export that out as a 16:9 DVNTSC file so I can record to my A1U. I created a new project with easy setup that is all DVNTSC 3:2 Anamorphic 16:9 and then imported the DVNTSC version of my show for playout. The A1U is getting sound but only a still image or frame of the video. Even with View/External Video/All Frames, I get the same thing. I changed the camera settings to match as well. Same thing. Anyone have any ideas? I would love to not stay up all night just to play out a video to tape. I'm now trying iMovie as a playout strategy. HELP

Hmm... are you playing the DV-NTSC movie from the Viewer window?  Or, do you have it a Sequence that's at DV-NTSC settings?
What you've described usually happens when the video is not compressed with the DV/DVCPro-NTSC codec.
    But, I'm just taking guess.
