A plugin for dds files Photoshop Elements 9

I don't know if this is the right place to ask....but who would develop a plugin in for dds files for Photoshop 9? There is a big demand from what I've seen on google. I just bought ps9 and was disappointed to find out that this newest version doesn't open these image files. I've been a customer of photshop since it first came out. I'd like to put a bug in someone's ear but don't know where to start.

It appears that there is a DDS plug-in for nVidia video cards for Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended. Which video card do you have? I do not know this site, so cannot vouch for it. I am unsure of which version of PS you have, and wonder, as does MTSTUNER, whether you mean Photoshop Elements 9 (totally different program, than PS, or PS Extended, which is at version 9).

Camera-raw plugin for NEF files, made with the new Nikon D7200

Hi, does anyone know when there will be a camera-raw plugin for NEF files made with the new Nikon D7200?

I think that camera is too new. Even the DNG converter will not support it. If you have Nikon software with the camera, you could convert to tiff and then use the tiff files in Elements whilst awaiting the next Camera Raw update for PSE13.

I understand it likely won't for PSE 12, however what about PSE 13? The official "Adobe Website" info for PSE 13 only refers to Camera Raw module V.8.6. Can someone advise please?
Would customer support email a link to the plugin module for Camera Raw 8.7.1 for a manual download/installation? The official 8.7.1 DNG/CR Download packages available via Adobe.com are only complete packages and won't update the embedded PSE plug-in mentioned above.

As far as photoshop elements is concerned, the added camera support for the sony A7II in camera raw 8.7.1 is probably the only thing on this page that affects pse.
(the camera raw version in photoshop elements doesn't have any user setting for camera lens profiles or applying chromatic aberration)

Photoshop elements should have camera raw 8.7 available using Help>Updates from within the photoshop elements 13 editor.
(very unlikely that pse 12 will ever get the camera raw 8.7.1 update or any camera raw updates past camera raw 8.5)
Do you need camera raw support for that camera in photoshop elements 13?
If you do, i would post at these two places and see if you get any response from an adobe employee.

What exactly means "refuses"?
This is the message which comes up if I try to update (from the Help menu) or re-install my licenced copies of CS6 or Photoshop Elements 9.
“We've encountered the following issues
Installer failed to initialize.Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem”

on trying to open PhotoshopCS6 I get this message:-

When I follow these instructions and try and start up/install or update Photoshop CS6 I get the same messages all over again. This has been going on since Tuesday afternoon and I am anxiuous to resolve the problem. For several years now all this has worked perfectly through your website and I cannot understand what has changed. Once I cancel these messages the products themselves seem to function OK. When I attempt to use Adobe Update Manager I get the same messages as above. You will see that my products are properly licensed and up to date. Have you any solution?

It is not clear what you mean. Normally one does not generate a serial number, it is provided with the purchase.

Camera Raw.plugin location on Mac, Photoshop Elements 6

(Regarding Photoshop Elements 6) Adobe's updater cannot find the Camera Raw plugin to update to 4.4.1, so I downloaded it manually. The problem is trying to find the old plugin so I can replace it. If I follow the info in the Read Me for this update, it says to put it in:
~/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats
This folder did not exist, so I created Plug-Ins, CS3 and File Formats. Didn't work.
I went to the Photoshop Elements 6 folder, and there found
Plug-Ins/FileFormats
(no space between "File" and "Formats"). I put the new Camera Raw.plugin there (no old one there), and now Elements, in its "About Plug-In" drop down menu lists TWO Camera Raw plugins, version 4.3.1 and the 4.4.1 I just put there.
Where the heck is the 4.3.1 file so I can get rid of it?? Searching with the Finder and Spotlight only reveals the 4.4.1 file.

Camera Raw location on a Mac:-

and if you update one Camera Raw you can, of course, copy and paste to alternative versions of Adobe products (as if, for example, you have both CS6 & CS5, or Elements)

You need PSE12 to read your CR2 files. Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)

3d model for .dds files from sims 4 help/ponder/confused

Hello all, im just starting out with creating clothes etc for sims 4 and im wondering just what is possible within PS cc. I am able to change textures, layers channels etc of the .dds files but as it stands they are done on a flat surface, my friend has informed me of the amazing possibilities of ps when it comes to 3d modelling. Now what im wondering is can i use the skin mesh that i have managed to get hold of for sims 4 within photo shop as what can best be described as a tailors dummy to place the clothes upon within PS. If it is where do i place the mesh files within the ps folders and how do i get ps to see that the .dds file is tobe placed upon the dummy.
Now if considering the above is doable am i then able to alter the mesh of the clothes items but not effect the dummy as i want the dummy tobe none intractable and unchangeable and only the .dds file i am working on tobe altered. Im also wondering if this is infact possible if it is possible to create items from scratch also from within ps using the technique.

There are two ways to create clothing one is to create a mesh and animate it like Brett mentioned, the other is to use the same mesh and apply a UV Mapped texture to that mesh like poser allows. The difference is one requires a body that has no protruding parts (I'll leave it like that) as they would show through, the other can have a mesh that is away from the body and have thickness to it which can handle protruding parts.
That said creating UV mapped textures in photoshop is fairly strait forward. Where as meshes can be created in photoshop, but it is very rudimentary in how it creates the meshes. It lacks the fine details of point modeling which can help in pushing and pulling of the polygons to make sure it lays correctly. Photoshop as Brett mentioned lack the more advanced animation techniques needed to force the mesh to animate with the underlying mesh.
What I recommend is that you look at the free app called blender you can find it through google. It can do what you need, even if it is a bit weird for a user interface. For paid programs, I recommend looking at poser (Daz has a free version {called Daz studio} that is similar to poser but lacks a few features) Poser can animate a mesh give it bones, etc. But lack modeling features that are required that blender can handle.
Newtek's Lightwave or Luxology (now called the foundry I guess) has modo which is very similar to lightwave but is more modeling heavy than animation heavy, whereas lightwave is the opposite. Both companies were one at one time, I don't know about the split, but that's how modo came to be. Either of these two companies can and will exceed anything you need. Both are extremely fast compared to blender, poser, daz studio or photohshop when it comes to modeling, animating, rendering and some texturing. The textures in these apps have two flavors procedural (math based) and image based. Kind of like comparing photoshop to illustrator, that can do similar things, but each has their strengths and weaknesses.
Something else to look at is UV mapper. It now costs it use to be free years ago. it will take a UV map and help arrange the map so that it is easier to create a uv texture in an image editor like photoshop.

Where can I find the serial number for my Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 program?

I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 a couple of years ago and had it installed on my old laptop, and now I am trying to install it on my desktop computer. I cannot find the serial code anywhere on the box or DVD envelope, and I have tried entering every code on the box I could find (all invalid). It's supposed to be a 24 digit code with letters and numbers, right? I looked at my account to see if I had any products previously installed, but it says I don't for some reason. I also tried checking my email to see if I had been sent the code, but I wasn't able to find anything. I obviously had the code at some point since I was able to install the program a few years ago, so I'm not sure what happened? Can anyone help me?

How do I upload pictures from iphone 5c and iPhoto for editing in photoshop elements 12 please?

I used to be able to edit all my iphoto pictures in PSE10. I set the advanced section of preferences in iphoto to edit in PSE. Since installing Photoshop Elements 12, I cannot get the transfer into PSE of the photos (unedited and unreduced) to work.
The general preferences only give a camera the options of connecting to iphoto, aperture, image capture, or, no application. Assuming my phone is a camera for editing purposes, I would like to give it the option of connecting to PSE 12.
Also, I would like to import my photos from the iphone 5C into PSE12 for editing. There is an import action in PSE12 which does not seem to work with the imac and iphone.
In addition, my email application is greyed out in the general preferences; I use Microsoft Outlook for Mac.
How can I change the settings in 'general' and 'advanced' preferences to work for me, Please?

Both code snippets above work when the HTML file is hosted (IIS / Apache). My web-app needs to be able to run from a USB memory stick and work with IE9. The #page param is required for a core feature of the app.

I have burned over 8 hours looking for a solution. I have tried any logical settings in Adobe Reader X, and with the security zones in IE. I am not very familiar with IE security zones, but I suspect it could be related to my issue. I can specify the end-user change any browser or plugin settings as an acceptable solution.

I am developing a hybrid web-application that needs to work both offline (entire website) and in a hosted environment. A key part of the product is displaying PDF's with a dynamic index outside of the PDF. This allows us to use PDF's collected from hundreds of contractors, clients and manufacturers and combine them into one searchable product with a consistent interface. I can specify product requirements including IE browser settings, installed plug-ins etc. I am not trying to cater to a wide audience such as everyone online, but a specific one that is spending $5k-30k for a custom resource.
I expect the limiation is due to a wide cast net regarding security. I tried every setting in IE and essentially fully disabling all security options did not resolve it.

Can't open photo for editing in Photoshop Elements

I am trying to edit a photo from my LR 5 Library in PE 11, but when I follow the normal process to do this, PE opens OK but my photo does not appear in PE at all. Is there some bug I don't know about? Or some other solution to fix this problem?

Go to LR preferences and look under the External Editing tab to ensure you have the editor application selected. A common mistake is to choose the shortcut. If necessary click the choose button again and on Windows navigate to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 11

Best way to collect photos from family members for use in Photoshop Elements Organizer 13?

I am a long time Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements user. My biggest problem in producing my annual Christmas video has been collecting photos and videos from remote family members. Most are exclusively taking photos and videos on their smartphones (but I'll take wheat I can get).
What toolset or service will offer my family members the easiest way for them to securely share those assets with me so that I can ingest them into Element Organizer 13?
I've been told that Adobe now has apps for smartphones to aid in this process, but I have yet to track that down.
I've recommended my family members use dropbox or other comparable services, but it seems to perplex them. More often than not, I wind up receiving them as attachment via email or not at all. I'd LOVE to improve their ease of use and am will to pay to deliver an easy and pleasant experience for them.
