A portal app from the scratch?

hi, i can build a portal application by using the
BEA portal wizard. however, i want to have a totally
different look and feel for the application, e.g.
something that looks like www.msnbc.com. The template
application built by the wizard, has tabs for available
pages. how can i get rid of them? also i want to know
where i should put footers, headers, etc. i could not
find such information from the Development Guide document.
did i miss something? any other documents or examples?

You can accomplish what you are looking for by changing jsps in the
framework folder in you webapp directory.
We've done something like this. You still need to maintain portal pages but
they can look totally different. For example, one of the layouts we've
designed uses a dropdown list to switch between pages.
The only disadvantage of this approach: you will be responsible for
upgrading your source code when the next release of portal comes out.

There's a way to make an apple ID without a credit card. But if you already have one...well, you already have one. Starting over from scratch would probably be more trouble than it's worth.
The logic flow seems to be the presumption that 'everyone' will eventually purchase something, so just start the account with a payment method, even if that payment method sits there unused for months/years.

Yes. I would clarify your statement about the "shared" iTunes Library though. If you want each iOS device to have its own music library, you should create separate user accounts for them. Read:

Do you have Restrictions set that prevent adding the apps? (Settings>General>Restrictions).

Why can't I update/ download apps from the app store after upgrading to iOS 7.0.3?

I have an iphone 5 and updated my phone to the lastest version (ios 7.0.3) last night. I can't download/ update any apps from the app store using my cellular network. The only error message is that the app cant be downloaded at this time. As soon as I click the download button, the image of the icon shows up with "Waiting" underneath the icon. I tried tapping on the app icon to pause the download but that isn't working. I have disabled Wi-Fi setting and enabled"the use cellular data" option in the itunes and app store setting page. Memory is not an issue because I have a lot of memory available. In the cellular setting page the App Store is enabled to use cellular data. It seems like it is a setting issue. What can be done to fix this problem

Thanks for your suggestion. Not long ago before I saw your response I tried to download the app and I seemed to have some progress (I had 5 bars and 1x). It looked it was 3/4 of the download complete only to have the same error message.
Since then I reset the phone and I have tried downloading the app when there 5 bars with 3g. Every time the icon has waiting underneath it and I get the same error message.

I made some research online and asked a few of my friends with the same problem. All they did was sign out of iTunes from settings>iTunes & App Stores or from the App Store itself and signed back in. It worked for many of them but not with my iPhone 4s. It really does get on my nerves to always sign out and back in to the App Store as it sometimes works and allows me to update and download or most of the time it doesnt.
When viewing my Apple ID account on my iPhone (after entering the password) it either views my account or says:
"This Apple ID is only valid for purchases in the U.S. iTunes Store. You will be switched to that Store. Try your purchase again."
So I press on OK then either switches me to the App Store app of its choice, or says "Cannot connect to iTunes Store".
I tried restoring iOS6 hoping it was a bad installation, but i still have the same problem.

Are you sure your AppleID is NOT tied to the US store? If you are trying to buy an app from the Swedish store you will be unable to do that. Some apps are only available on certain stores. That is why you get the "Cannot connect to the iTunes store" message when trying to buy that app. Your updates are being done from the US store ; thats why you can update sometimes and sometimes not.
If you keep encountering problems contact iTunes support. They will help you sort it out.

Delete apps from the bin

How do I delete apps from the bin. They won't delete! I have deleted them in iTunes, they went into the bin but they won't delete from there. They are from another user account. And you set up your own new ID and account but can NOT access the updates, from the App store for the many apps that you already have, because they require that you sign in with that former now inaccessible ID and account and password? Call it a problem of modern times and changing relationships, if you want to be charitable.

So I guess it will only be new apps that I download that are allowed to give me their updates while 13 updates wait for me on an ID I can no longer access.

Good rule of thumb is to back up your purchases regardless > Mac App Store: Backing up your app purchases
