A previously deleted contact reappears!!

I had an individual set up as a contact on my iPhone 3GS. The contact information included, a photo, phone #, email address, etc. I deleted this contact several months ago and prior to moving from Mobile Me to iCloud. Currently, my iPhone contact list is exactly the same as the iCloud contact list.
Here's what happened yesterday and I don't know why (remember I deleted the contact).....I received a call from the deleted contact and when I look under my "recents" phone tab, all of the information for this individual is totally populated (photo, phone #, email address etc) just like I had never deleted the contact! I looked at my iPhone contact list and the person is not listed nor is this person's information listed in my iCloud contacts.
Is contact information retained in some type of "memory" even if it's deleted??? Where possibly could this deleted contacts information be coming from??
Also, could someone tell me why some of the word "Info" shows at the top of some individual contact information but for other contacts the word "iCloud" is displayed? Does this cause a problem?

err=32 means, "object class violation". Typically
means that you're adding something that's not legal
to add where you're adding it.
I guess err=32 means "no such object". It seems to be missing something to create ("ou=default,ou=OrganizationConfig,ou=1.0,ou=iPlanetAMAuthLDAPServic
e,ou=services,o=abc.com,o=isp") may be that's the reason why the MOD operation fails.

Previously deleted files reappearing after system updates

I have an AFP/SMB share on a G4 Xserve accessed by ~50 users. For the second time (first after upgrading to 10.4.5 and then again to 10.4.6), I have folders and files that have been moved or deleted weeks to months ago that are reappearing in this share. Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas what could be going on? Thanks for any help...

OK, a little more information here...
It seems to be more related to restarting the server than to actually updating, and it seems to be only in areas of the share where permissions had been stupidly set - the POSIX owner was a local server admin (NOT an OD user), and the ACL was set to allow a group of OD users Read & Write access. Could the local owner somehow be preventing the OD users from deleting stuff, even though it appeared to delete, and without generating an error?
I did run DiskWarrior and didn't find any significant problems in the directory. I am completely baffled here... never seen anything like this happen before, so if anyone could shed some light I would REALLY appreciate it.

Deleted contacts reappear when i text

Hey, im in big need of help...
When i delete a contact on my iPhone 4, I'm still able to find the contact when trying to text..
Ive tried deleting icloud as it is the only sync i got with my contacts and deleting all my contacts.
So when i look at my contact list its empty. but when trying to text, if i etc. hit 'a' it still shows a list of all the contacts i got with the letter a....
what can i do, else then resetteting my iphone?

Its not a Safari problem either.
I narrowed the problem to the new GMail web app.
I used the older version of GMail web app and the problem was gone.
Mail app, Gmail on computer, Older version of GMail web app all function properly.
The newer version of Gmail web app seems to the culprit.
I will just wait for Google to fix it i guess.

Deleting contacts globally for all devices

i have 4 Apple devices that sync to my ICloud account I turned off contacts on all but one device and spent the better part of a day deleting contacts on the one device one by one turned the device off and back on . I did delete the contacts on other devices by turning off contacts I then restarted the one device and allowed a full boot. I then turned on the contacts to the other devices and joila all of the deleted contacts reappeared. So frustrating. My question is how do i access the Icloud account to delete un-wanted contacts globally?

Assuming this is icloud sync and not something like Gmail, when you edit the contacts on one device it should refresh on all devices that sync. It sometimes takes a little while depending on network connections and such.

Deleted contacts calendar events etc reappearing

I have an iPad 2 iPhones and 2 macs all synced together. Whenever I try to delete a contact or calendar event it will delete then reappear because the events or contacts are on my other devices is there a way to delete from all my devices from one device or just delete a contact or event from one device?

I'm having a similar issue trying to delete entire calendars. They keep re-appearing after I delete them! Happens in Calendars on Mountain Lion and in iCloud website (normal and beta)

Why does deleted content reappear on my iPhone when I connect via USB?

I recently upgraded from a 3GS to a 4S, and I'm having an issue that's never been a problem before. I notice that music or video that I delete from my iPhone reappears when I connect to iTunes via USB. Nothing is moved over, either: the videos are just listed as if never removed.
I am deleting this videos by swiping across after viewing on phone. They disappear, so I am not overlooking anything on that front. Similarly, I don't sync video or music -- I have manual management checked in iTunes.
Any ideas what might be happening, and how I can fix it?

And almost 2 years later this is still happening - I delete TV Shows and Movies from my iPad 2 (iOS6) or iPhone (iOS6) and as soon as I connect the devices to my mac by USB they reappear (even though my setting is to manually manage everything). This then screws up syncing like this morning where I tried to add 2 new movies - as it was syncing I realised that the previous 2 had reappeared so I wouldn't have space to add them. I deleted them via iTunes and the sync appeared to be successful - until I turned on the iPad on the train to be greeted by a message saying that the 2 items couldn't be synced.

I have a POP email account that I access from my iMac using Mail. I regularly delete mail from my inbox in Mail, so there are only a few hundred messages in the inbox. But the other day I logged onto my mail account via the web and discovered thousands of my previously deleted messages still in my inbox on the server. I opened Mail Preferences and discovered that the checkbox "Remove mail from Server ... when I move it from my inbox" was not checked, so I checked that box. However, I figured that would only cause future messages that are removed form my inbox to be removed from the server, but would not do anything about the thousands of previously deleted messages that were still on the server. So I also clicked the button labeled "Remove Now". I figured that would cause Mail to tell the server to remove all the old messages on the server that had previously been removed from the local Mail inbox.
The next day I discovered that thousands of old messages I had already deleted (many of them long ago) had mysteriously reappeared in my Mail inbox. And of course, checking the account via the web, I discovered they were still on the server too. What did I do wrong? I thought Mail would tell the server to delete all those old messages. Instead it seems to have told the server to download them all to my Mail inbox again, the exact opposite of what I intended. I don't know if this is a disconnect between the Mac Mail client and the mail server, or if I misunderstood the purpose of these options in the Mail preferences dialog.

I have never tried this exact action, but I think the Remove Now will not do much, with When Moved from the Inbox. This would require the action of removing the message, after this setting has been changed. I don't think it would remove any previously moved from the Inbox, because no check to correlate the current contents of Inbox to a POP account.

However, there would appear to be some corruption in the file to prevent duplicate downloads, or messages previously downloaded.
In Mail 2.x, Apple introduced a way to look a the server, of even POP accounts. To do this, control-click on any inbox or any mailbox, and choose Get Info. Once the dialogue window is presented, and if you have more than one account, choose the account, and you can not observe the server contents, but also choose and delete individual messages.
Keep us posted about future behavior.

You don't, if you're referring to addresses that appear when you click the "Address" button.. Mail is just reading from the Address Book application's data. Open the standalone Address Book and you can edit and remove contacts there.
If you want to clear the list of addresses that pop up as suggestions but that are not in your address book, go to the Window menu and select "Previous Recipients". You can edit or clear that list from there.

Have IMAC, Mountain Lion mail. Each time I open mail, the message Mail can't connect to the account "Google" followed by a request for a password of an acct that was previously deleted. How do I get rid of the message? Thanks

Each time I open my mail, a message box appears with the message Mail can't connect to the account "Google", followed by Enter the password for the user *****@gmail.com. The full account that appears is an account that I had previously deleted. I cannot prevent the message box from appearing. What do I have to tweak in order for this annoying box to keep reappearing. I have deleted everything I know of in Google mail and my IMAC mail. Thanks for any feedback

From the Mail menu bar, select
Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Look for the unwanted SMTP (outgoing mail) account in the window that opens. Double-click it. Another window will open, showing a list of all the outgoing mail accounts. The unwanted one will be selected. Click the minus-sign button to delete it, then click OK.
If there's more than one unwanted account, repeat.

Previously deleted emails being sent to my phone

Replaced my old 3gs with a new 4. Set up my email account (BT). Started to get old, previously deleted emails being sent to my phone. Hundreds of the things. Please help.

What kind of email account is this? Generally this only happens with accounts that you sync with Outlook. There is a setting in Outlook to add them. Most other mail clients will display a suggested list from previously written email, but will not automatically add them to the contact list.
Are you actually seeing them in the contact list, or is it just that when you go to type another name in with a similar starting letter you are seeing the name? The iPhone keeps this in a cache in case you want to use them again, but they delete eventually. Or, you can delete them by starting the email out, then tapping on the to the end of the address and then deleting the suggestion.

After i have installed the new iOS, my deleted emails reappear in my inbox! help!

After i have installed OS X Yosemite, my deleted emails just reappear in my inbox. I am using Gmail. I have tried changing the settings etc.
After I deleted the emails, it will disappear from my inbox for a while, then reappear. Even when i tried going to trash and delete immediately, it doesn't work. In fact, it became worse because all my previous deleted emails all returned into inbox! Please help!

Retrieve deleted contacts ?

Silly me deleted contacts from my address book, i have no backup. Is there any way i can get them back. They are not in the trash.....

As you're asking in the iSync forum (instead of the Mail & Address Book forum), does that mean you're syncing your Address Book contacts to a mobile phone?
If so, depending on which mobile phone you have you may be able to retrieve them from there.
You haven't mentioned which version of Mac OS X you are using. If you are using 10.5 and have Time Machine turned on, then you may be able to retrieve them from there.
With no backups at all there's no guaranteed way of getting deleted contact back.
However, if you're very lucky, this may work:
1) Quit Address Book
2) Navigate to {Your Mac HD}/Users/{Your username}/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/
3) See if there are files called "AddressBook.data" and "AddressBook.data.previous"
4) Backup, then delete the "AddressBook.data" file
5) Rename "AddressBook.data.previous" to "AddressBook.data"
6) Reload Address Book with your fingers crossed.
If that doesn't work, then you've lost your Contacts.

I accidentally deleted some contacts from my iPhone 4 not realizing that they were also being deleted from my wife's iphone via iCloud. I tried to restore from a backup in iTunes but deleted contacts did not reappear. Help!

Deleting contacts with a swipe?

I couldn't find any other forum to ask this, so forgive me if it's in the wrong place -
is there a way to delete contacts from the Pre with a swipe? I've been trying to delete them but have to do a series of 3-4 taps and, while it's not tough, it does get to be time-consuming - am I missing some trick here?

The IU is a bit random. It seems as though the app teams don't get together very often. You can swipe in most if no all the other apps.
Its a simliar thing with the accelerometer. It works in the browser but not in email.
Another annoying thing with the contacts app is birthdays. If you want to edit a birthday, the default date shown it TODAY not the previous birthday saved.
