A printer that will print on 2.25 by 3 inch paper? (Playing cards)
I am trying to print some personalized playing cards (I have some blank playing cards!). My printer only prints down to 4x6.
Does anyone know a photo printer that handles paper down to that size? I have found printers specialized for 2x3 inch name tags but they only print 2x3.

I don't know of any printers that can handle that size. How does the card stock come? As individual cards or grouped together in larger sheets that you cut apart or tear apart?
Can your printer successfully grab and move those cards thru it? If so create the card design in the upper left hand corner of an 8.5 x 11 layout and print to the borderless letter size paper size selection for you printer. For that you would need a 3rd party image editor that supports layers or Pages, which will do the job nicely.

Unable to center a print on 8/5 x 11 inch paper with Pixma Pro 100
I've been using a Pixma Pro 100 for just 3 weeks. No matter what I do or try, prints on 8.5 by 11 inch paper using the manual feed tray are not centered. In portrait orientation, the margin on the leading edge short edge is slightly less no matter what size the image. For example, if the leading edge margin is 1/4 inch, the opposite margin is 3/8 inch. If the leading edge is 7/8 inch, the opposite margin is 1 inch dead. The long side margins are equal. I'm using Photoshop Elements 9.0. I've tried printing out of the edit space, where "center print" is an option, but I realize now that this just centers the image in the window representing the print, that it does not center the image on the page. I have not notice this problem with smaller size paper, such as 4 x 6. Any suggestions? I have not tried loading the paper in the internal or "rear" tray because I thought the paper path with the manual feed would be straighter. Besides, I'd like to be able to use the manual feed with even larger paper and get centered prints.
P.S. I just tried selecting "borderless" print in PSE 9 with a custom image size smaller than the paper, e.g. 7 x 9.8 inches, and crop to fit. Just looking at the preview, this seems to have resulted in equal margins left and right, top and bottom (the L-R margins are different than the T-B margins of course). I was unable to make any of the necessary adjustments in Canon Print Studio Pro - I could not figure out how to unlink the height and width of the image."... that is a remarkably unhelpful and condescending response."
Condescending or not, however, it is still most likely PSE that accomplishs this task. I don't use PSE anymore since I switched to Lightroom. Hence the suggestion to find a PSE forum.
But it is the software that let's you move or put the photos where you want them to print.
A PSE forum may be able to show you how to do this. Example below, if I want two 5x7s in oppoiste corners, it is done easily in LR.
If I wanted one photo centered it is a simple click to get the adjustment "squares" and move the photo. (Bottom picture)
BTW, I am not worried.

At present, the only way I can load photos from a CF card to my new Macbook Pro Retina is by loading them onto an external hard drive via an old PC that can accept either of my USB card readers, then plugging the external hard drive into my MBP. Neither the USB card reader or the cable that comes with the Canon HDSLR camera will transfer photos directly to my MBP. I find it unbelievable that I have to go to a PC to load photos because I can't do it with my new MBP.
Has anyone found a reliable USB CF card reader, or one that connects via thunderbolt or HDMI, at any price, that will work directly with the new MBP Retina?This is what we need:
Location photoshoot - we use the Canon EOS 5D Mk II still camera & the Canon FX100 pro camcorder.
CF cards are: SanDisk Extreme UDMA & SanDisk Extreme Pro UDMA 6 for video (I think they are both Type II) My Mac recognises them both as FAT 32 format
My MBPRetina is on the latest version of Mountain Lion OSX 10.83
the files from the camcorder will transfer to my MacBook Pro Retina directly via the camera's cable but it is quite slow & it means I cannot continue to film while downloading files but this we can live with.
the files from the still camera Canon EOS 5D Mk II will not transfer directly via the camera's cable - have yet to get the Canon software to download, but via the camera's cable will not help anyway as we need to have the still camera free to keep shooting.
We need to be able to take out the CF card from the first part of the shoot & download the still shots while just on the Macbook's battery power, while we insert a fresh CF card back into the still camera to continue with the next part of the shoot simultaneously (while the first card is downloading.)
The files from the first part of the shoot will be both in RAW (.CR2) & Jpeg format. We just need to quickly transfer the jpegs, then I do a quick sort, batch the best ones as black/white images, & use these in a client slideshow immediately after part 2 of the shoot.
Obviously we need fast data transfer speeds, & rely on the MBP's battery power while on a location shoot.
The card readers I have tried are an older specific CF card reader branded as Palm, & a USB 2 multi card reader branded as Travel Flash. With both readers, the lights on the readers flash on & off, & the MBP recognises the card & the files will even appear both in Finder & in i-Photo, so it starts importing, then aborts with an error message saying:
'The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “” can’t be read or written.
(Error code -36)'
& another message saying:
'the disk was not ejected properly'.
So it appears the MBP does read the CF cards but the card readers don't stay connected, no matter what angle I put them on or however many times I re-connect them.
Yes, they are probably cheap & I want to buy a decent one.
So, in summary:
the card reader needs to work when the MBPR is only on battery power (I read in some forums that some USB card readers aren't so reliable on the laptop's battery power)
the card reader needs to be quite fast. I have read the USB 3 readers won't read CF cards at higher than USB 2 speeds. Is this true? Are the firewire connected ones faster, & if so, are they still reliable on the MBP's battery power?
From research, it appears my problem is associated with my specific model of Mac & platform, being MacBook Retina on Mountain Lion OSX Version 10.83. If any of the recommended card readers have been successful with this, plese let me know.

I can't print images on anything but 4X6 inch paper. What am I doing wrong?
Print settings and preferences have to be set to the size of media that you want to print on. Some imaging software will default to 4X6 inch photo paper, when you select printing a "photo" or "borderless image" for printing. The settings need to be adjusted in order to select other media, sizes may be shown on more than one tab of the software.

I was having the same problem with a card that I received as a gift. Finally, I realized that it's an APPLE gift card and not an iTunes gift card. They are different and one will not work for another. The Apple card is used for hardware, software, cases, headphones, etc that you can buy in store or online. The iTunes card can only be used for music, apps, videos purchased through iTunes.
But as long as it is in fact an iTunes card, the only other thing I've read about it not activating is to wait a few days and try it again. Sometimes it takes a while for the store where it was purchased from to send the activation info to Apple and read it as a valid code. I guess it doesn't happen instantaneously when scanned at the store. -
Brand new wireless network printer from hp uses HP web printing 4.60. So I can't use my new printer. If you have a different browser that will work great, I hate to switch to a non mozilla browser.

How Can I Create a Print Button on a PDF Using Acrobat Pro That Will Also Work on iOS?
I created a Print Button on a PDF document using Adobe Acrobat Pro on my Mac. The Print button works perfectly on different browsers on my Mac and on Windows (running under Parallels Desktop) as well.
When I open the document on my iPad the Print button doesn't even appear. I am guessing that this is a Flash issue but it may be more related to the fact the the action for the button is to access the Print menu item, which doesn't exist under iOS.
Is there any way to create a Print button using Acrobat Pro that will work on a Mac and Windows but also on iOS?In order to initiate printing by clicking a button, the button has to have either an "execute menu item" type action or use the "print" JavaScript method. As you guessed, the former won't work since there are no menu items to execute, and the latter can only work if the particular PDF viewer you're using supports it. I'm not aware of any that do on iOS.
The button doesn't appear because you're probably opening it in the default PDF viewer, which doesn't support forms at all. If you were to open the form in Adobe Reader, you'd see the button but it wouldn't work. -
i have question about hooking up an external hdd to a time capsule and still have my printer hooked up as well. Anyone got any tips for me, how to do it and what brand of harddrive that will work best for me 1 or 2 TB
You just need a powered hub.. if you already use one then fine.
Plug in just about any external hard disk will work fine. Format has to be readable by the TC.. ie fat32.. or much better HFS+.. plug it into a Mac to prepare the drive.
Pick whatever size suits.. nowadays 2TB are most economical.
WD, Seagate have goobled up all the minor players.. so pick one.
Whatever suits your budget and asthetics.
NOTE.. The USB on the TC is fine for printers.. IMHO it is the wrong way to go with USB disks.. use the internal disk of the TC.. USB is less than half the native speed plugged into a Mac.. TC to USB is slow.. far slower than internal drive.. or using external drive as external. -
I have just purchased a Canon Pixma MG2900 printer and need to find a driver for this printer that will work with my MacBook Pro Operating System OSX Version 10.4.11.
I was directed to iTunes PIXMA/MAXI, but it didn't seem to download for me. It did say that it was for IPads or IPhones, not sure that it's intended for use on a computer.Probably best to go to a library and submit your resume there.

I was hoping there might be a feature or add-on that will allow me to automatically print an email after I send it. For the purpose of creating a paper trail we have to print out at least the 1st page of all emails sent to our clients. Love using Thunderbird and would like to keep using it. I know there is a feature in Outlook. I want to show stuff in a PDF that will automatically not 'print' from Illustrator.
For example create a colour to make shapes and text that you can read from the saved PDF but will not print once the PDF is printed out
Thanksfrom illustrator you could put stuff on a template layer (check 'Template' in layer options), but then it would only be visible on the illustrator side; opened in Acrobat the layer would be invisible.
you could do it from Acrobat Pro though. have 'Create Acrobat layers from top-level layers' checked in the PDF save options, then open in Acrobat and look in the layer properties (this is from Acrobat Pro 9): -

Only two devices on our plan, so not so much an issue. And I have found myself using it much more than I thought I would when we got them (also first smart phones for both of us). Even got my wife to use hers for checking email while we were out of the country (big step forward for her ). I'm very interested in the ApplePay, but will want to wait a bit before diving into it. And since both phones are still in great working order, will likely wait a bit for the upgrade (sometime next year?). Will depend, I suppose, on the kinds of deals we see and what the plans turn out to be for updating my iPad and getting here one.
