A problem...Formatted My iPod...but it won't show in my computer

everyone is saying once you format an iPod, then you click "restore" on the iTunes... but my iPod is not showing up in iTunes...what shoul i do????
other information;
i formatted it because i had first used the ipod on a friend's computer but she had an iMac...so when i tried to hook my iPod up with my pc it didn't show on itunes. so i tired to format... but now that it is formatted i still cannot see it on my pc...
are there any ideas??

In iTunes if you right click on the video and select Get Info and go to the Option tap what Media Type is shown?

It shows up in the Home Videos tab and i can play it just fine, but, when i plug my iPod Touch into my pc and let it sync, it doesn't show! You are welcome. As I gather you have now figured out, any of the other formats (AAC, MP3, AIFF, or Apple Lossless) can handle artwork just fine.

Update to the latest version of iTunes. Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) users may need to download iTunes 10.6.3.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. The ipod is not a backup/storage device. the sync is one way - computer to ipod. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.

IPod Touch 1st Gen is showing up in Computer but not in iTunes

I recently updated to iTunes 10.3 I didn't try to sync my iPod immediatly though so I didn't notice this problem until just now. I went into iTunes to sync my ipod and the ipod would show up in Computer or in iTunes, I uninstalled it and downgraded to iTunes 10.2, then my iPod would show up in Computer but still not in iTunes and in Computer it said it was and "Apple iPod" instead of "<My Name Here>'s iPod Touch". Just now I updated to iTunes 10.4 and it iis still showing up in Computer as "Apple iPod" but it isn't showing up in iTunes.
I don't know if this will effect anything but I am running Windows 7 Home Premium.

Would someone please at least give me some advice like microwave my laptop or something?

similar problem that I'm hoping revives this thread. Took over 24hrs to dload additional content (after another full day for the actual problem) due to a bad dload rate. so quitted, and relocated closer to my wifi router. Restart, open logic x, Menu bar: Logic Pro/ Download Additional content ...Tells me i have no internet connection.... Ahh... I do, I'm using it right now! Tried restarting and relaunching. same thing every time.

Hey, I'm having the exact same problem.
I just got my Macbook Pro and I tried to partition/install windows xp the first day I got it. After successfully partitioning my HD, the 50GB partition didn't show up while trying to install the windows platform.
To be a bit more specific, it doesn't even show up in my startup disk in the system preferences menu (if that's any help?)
So after about a week of abandoning my Macbook and going back to my PC I went to the Apple store and someone from the genius bar just told me to reformat the entire thing...so that's what I did and I'm still having the same problem.
Any advice Lyssa?
