With the "Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe)"
I could clean uninstall the "Apple Mobile Device Support".
Hope, this will help other people.

Yes another user with problem with Apple Mobile Device Support, I am getting the error message: Service 'Apple Mobile Device'(Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Vertify that you have sufficient privileges to start system service....I hit retry and it came up again. I hit ignore and it prompted me to hit finish so Itunes can open.   I looked thru alot of these posts on here to try and resolve this problem myself but it's not working too well...I downloaded Itunes to my desktop so I can right click it with the program i downloaded called WinRAR. I extracted it and then went into the folder called Itunes64setup. I saw the file called AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 in there so I began to try and download it on it's own. Well that didn't work as I planned and got this error message:
Apple Mobile Device Support wasn't installed on your computer. The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again.
Well I tried to run it again and came up with the same message...I see that some people got great support to help them so I am hoping someone can help me as well. I know "b nor" is very qualfied and hopefully can help me! Please advise what I can do. Thank you

  • Problem installing Apple Mobile Device Support with iTunes 11.1

I am running Windows 8 and was running the previous version of iTunes along with support for my iPad2, iPhone4s and iPhone5.  Everything was working perfectly.
Yesterday, I performed the OTA upgrade of ios7 on my iPhone5.  When I connected the phone to my PC, iTunes said that I needed to upgrade to 11.1.  So I did, except that it rolled back saying that it was unsuccessful and to try again.  I then downloaded the standalong iTunes64 installer.   The new version of iTunes installed, however the Mobile Device Support was not working.  iTunes did not recognize the phone and Windows device manager showed a driver problem.
So, I then followed the instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to uninstall all things Apple from my PC.  I then rebooted/reinstalled.  Same thing happened.  I uninstalled everything a second time, and then went thru the registry searching for "apple" and "mobile device" and removed all references.  This took a while.  I rebooted and reinstalled once again.  Same thing once more.  I then extracted the files from the iTunes64 installation exe and attempted to install just the mobiledevicesupport.msi.  It keeps rolling back with an unspecified error.   The error code in the Windows event log is 1603.
I then unpacked the mobiledevicesupport.msi file, went to device manager and told it to find the driver, pointing it directly at the new driver files.  No good, I get some "operation not supported" type message.
I am out of things to try.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks.

  • When I plug my iPhone 4s into my PC, I get an error message that says iTunes needs a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. It wants me to uninstall both the AMDS and iTunes and then reinstall iTunes. Has anyone else run into this problem recently?

When I plug my iPhone 4s into my PC, I get a message that says iTunes needs a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. It wants me to uninstall both the AMDS and iTunes and then reinstall iTunes. iTunes won't recognize my phone and so I can't synch it. Has anyone else run into this problem recently and how did you resolve it? Thanks!

Thank you both. I suppose I should have prefaced my question with the concern that I've read a number of other posts from people who have had a similar issue and when they tried to follow the directions, they ran into a multitude of other problems. As you might imagine, I'm hoping to avoid the creation of new problems as I try to solve this one. Thanks again.

  • Apple Mobile Device Support Problem 7.7 with XP - PLEASE HELP!

    Very frustrating problem...
    I get the following message:
"A later version of Apple Mobile Device Support is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue."
Same thing comes up with Quicktime. This setup prior to this update has worked seamlessly since I bought my 1st gen iPhone. Tried uninstalling both programs and received same error message. I've since deleted every apple reference on the system and cleaned the registry, rebooted several times and still get the error.
    Please help!

"A later version of Apple Mobile Device Support is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue."
Go into your Add/Remove programs control panel, and uninstall "Apple Mobile Device Support".
If you were able to uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support, restart the PC and try another iTunes install.
If Add/Remove won't let you uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support, or there no entries the for Apple Mobile Device Support there, or even after apparently successfully uninstalling AMDS, an iTunes install still won't go through (throwing the same message at you), download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Now launch Windows Installer CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find any entries called "Apple Mobile Device Support" in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those entries, and click “remove”.
Quit out of CleanUp, and restart the PC.
Does an itunes install go through properly after that?

  • TS3704 Trying to delete I Tunes because of missing MSVCR80.dll followed instructions from Apple to delete - Apple Mobile Device support keeps coming up its being used I have gone to program files deleted what I can from folder but left with 3 files

I have been getting the MSVCR80.dll missing message.
Been on the Apple site and following instruction.
Going down the list has instructed I have Deleted I Tunes.
    Deleted Apple Software Update
But when I try to delete Apple Mobile device it wouldn't delete so went into program files has the instructions say by going to Program Files\common Files\Apple\Apple Mobile Device Support Folder.
It still wouldn't delete saying it was being used.
I opened the file and highlighted all the folders and pressed delete, most of them have disapeared into my recycle bin but the folder still holds AppleMobileService, AppleMobileDeviceService_main.dll and MobileDevice.dll.
Message when I right click the first file is AppleMobileService I am told this action can't be completed because file is open in Apple Mobile Device. Close and Try again.
When I click the next file AppleMobileDeviceService_main dll it says  It comes up with This action cannot be completed and File description Apple Mobile Device Service. Company Apple Inc. File Version 17.323.0.9 Date Created 7/9/2013. Try again...... and finally  MobileDevice.dll come up with same message but file version 710.0.0.4 Date Created 7/9/2013 Size 902KB Both say Try Again but the same thing just recurred.
I have left my lap top on hoping that I a swift reply.
I am certainly no computer wizard and simply trying to follow the instructions to get rid of the box which keep coming up everytime I switch the lap top on saying APS Daemon.exe-System Error. The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.  I had looked at the internet and there appears to be warnings not to click on the button.
I have had an apdate from Apple for the I Tunes but it wouldn't update. I thought that may have sorted it so whilst I had a few hours I thought I would go through the process that is advised on Apple's website.
I hope I have not ruined my computer. I haven't even tried deleting Bonjour or Apple Application Support (I Tunes 9 or later) has these are supposed to come after the step I am on.
    Please HELP!!!!!

  • ITunes 10.2 Upgrade fix temporary. Fix to iTunes 10.2.2 by uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support and install AMDS from 10.0. Worked only to fail in 5 days. iTunes back to very slow to open and will not see device (iPhone) connected. Sorry

I was one this site for 20+ Days and found a fix for 10.2.1 when it failed. I Uninstalled all, following other attempts that failed, then installed latest Version from Apple iTunes 10.2.12. I then uninstalled Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS) and installed AMDS from the older 10.0 version of iTunes. Success it worked. Today, I am now back to old problem, iTnes takes very long time to open and fails to see my device when connected (iPhone). I really only have iTunes for my iPhone no extensive library a few hundred CD's in music location and no podcasts. I have less than 6 moveis and want to update them now. I am willing to lose all in iTunes library if need be just to get computer to see G3 iPhone with iOS 4.2 and let me synch once again. I like security of backup too. It older iTunes may now not support, that too is OK. I still want to get the 3GS (no 4G desires, yet) and do not care if any of it is the latest from Apple as long as it works.

    Hi Erik,
Your basic suggestion actually worked for me. But this is what I did for others who are having issues removing/installing etc.
    1. Download the latest iTunes 8.2. You should end up with a file iTunesSetup.
    2. If you dont already have WinRAR, download free copy from http://www.rarlab.com/ and install.
    3. Right click on iTunesSetup and choose "Extract" to somewhere you know. eg C:\itunetemp
    4. Open up folder where you extracted iTunesSetup and double-click applemobiledevicesupport.msi
    5. It should ask you if you want to repair or remove... choose remove.
    6. REBOOT your PC.
    7. Go back to where you extracted iTunesSetup and double-click applemobiledevicesupport.msi and go through the install.
    8. Plug in your iPhone.
If all is well iTunes should automatically start and start syncing your iPhone.
    Goodluck all!
    Cheers.

  • Failed to load Apple Mobile Device Support

I updated to the latest iTunes and I keep receiving this error message. In order to fix it I've tried:
    Restarting the Windows Service
    Uninstalling Apple Mobile Device Support
    Different USB cables
    Different USB ports
    Reinstalling iTunes
    Restarting my iPhone
    Restarting Windows
Nothing fixes it. My iPhone is no longer recognized by iTunes or other products such as iFunbox or PhoneClean. The iPhone will charge via PC, but that is it. The only other thing I can think of trying is reformatting my PC....
Again, this all started after I installed the newest iTunes. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I had a similar (but strange) problem yesterday after installing (via Update prompt) iTunes 12.1. Everything looked OK but I found that my wife's iphone 4S wasn't detected by iTunes, but strangely my iphone 4S was.  Checked cable (same cable), checked connecting port on both phones, everything OK. Both phones were detected by Windows (8.1 64 bit). Decided to reboot both phones and the PC. Made no difference.  However, sometimes MY phone wasn't being detected either.
Finally I deleted iTunes following this set of instructions http://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT1925 and reinstalled iTunes from a fresh download. Everything now working OK.
Make sure you follow the sequence of uninstall processes before reinstalling.
    Hope this helps.

  • Apple Mobile Device Support issues

When I plugged in my iPod, it said my Apple Mobile Device Support needs to be updated, and I would need to "uninstall iTunes and Apple Mobile Device Support, and reinstall iTunes" in order for it to work. I uninstalled iTunes and it did not work when I reinstalled. When I tried to uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support, it told me there was a "fatal error" and the uninstallation was unsuccessful. So I found a support page on here that gave me a list of what to uninstall in order, and I did, but it still would not uninstall Mobile Device Support. No matter what I try, Apple Mobile Device Support will not uninstall and everything I try will not allow my iPod to connect to iTunes, resulting in it telling me to uninstall and reinstall which is impossible! Any help?

I uninstalled iTunes and it did not work when I reinstalled. When I tried to uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support, it told me there was a "fatal error" and the uninstallation was unsuccessful.
That can sometimes relate to damage to HKEYCURRENTUSER registry keys in your usual user account.
Create a new user account on your PC with full administrative rights. Log out of your usual account and log into the new account. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
In the new user account attempt again to uninstall and reinstall iTunes and related components as per:
[Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925]
(You didn't tell us what operating system you are using ... if it's not XP, follow the link in the article to equivalent instructions for Vista/7.)
If you successfully manage to uninstall/reinstall iTunes/AMDS etc in the new account, log out of that account, and log back into your usual account. Does iTunes launch without the error message now?
