A problem taking images with a PCI 1409

Hello all, I've a CCD camera throug I try to acquire images by a PCI 1409 card. Im configuring the device throug MAX and seens to work fine, but when I'm using the snap block or minor level I cant see anything, the image turn black. I've search in other forums and I've found that the moving the range it can be fixed, but even changing this, the image does not change just take a solid gray escale color. I taked some screen prints.
If someone can give a hand with this, I'll really appreciate it.
Many thank,
Andrés Felipe Gómez

  • How to store jpeg images with IMAQ PCI-1409 without vision or labview

I have acquired an IMAQ PCI-1409 card and have it working just fine. However the card is being primarily used to aquire images for display purposes only. The only options with MAX are .tiff, .bmp and .png
It would be nice to be able to store images as .jpeg which would be easier to share with other people.
Is this possible or do I have to compress the images using another software?

    Hello,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
Unfortunately, as you mentioned, the only save options available in MAX are TIFF, BMP, and PNG. In order to save the image as a JPEG, you will need to use another software program. Microsoft Paint will allow you to save/convert any of these types to JPEG format. Other programs (Adobe Photoshop for example) allow you to customize the compression used, but Microsoft Paint does not.

  • Problems acquiring images with IMAQ-1408

I have a IMAQ-1408 acquisition card that I recently transplanted from an old computer to a new P4. Initially, it did record a few images (both in one of my programs and using the test panels in the Measurement and Automation Explorer. Now it doesn't acquire. I have tried several things like switching PCI slots, adjusting some of the settings like the sync voltage levels and such, but I'm not getting any images. All 6 diagnositc tests past (from 'FPGA register' to 'Basic interrupt'). Also, the card is still detecting something - when I connect to a video source, I get the error ... when I have it disconnected from the video, it gives an IMG-ERR-VLCK. So it must be detecting some of the V-synch pulses. Anyway, at what poi
nt do I decide that my card is non-functional? Are there any more setting adjustments I should try. (BTW, I'm using an NTSC source).
    thanks

This issue is sounding more like a hardware problem if the diagnostics fail repeatedly. Before considering repair or purchasing a new board, I still recommend testing the card in another machine just to be thorough.
The board most likely can be repaired (I'm not sure about the cost, since it is most likely out of warranty). Otherwise, the PCI-1409 board is similar to the 1408, but has several advantages. Please see this KnowledgeBase for more information on the differences. If you are interested in the repair/replacement options, please generate a service request to speak directly with an engineer. You can generate a request online at "http://www.ni.com/ask">www.ni.com/ask. This will allow us to set up an RMA if need be.

  • Problem uploading images with php script.

As a webdebdesigner i developped a cms system to upload images with php to a mysql database. Firefox version 5.0.1 for MAC and earlier have no problems with uploading through the script. But after that version it is impossible to upload images bigger then 250kb. The page where the customer chooses his image for upload stalls and the form is not sent to the actual upload script, which should validate and process the image.
This problem only occurs in Firefox, all other browsers work just fine!

  • How to acquire multi-camera images from one PCI-1409 card at the same time?

What do I need to do? The hardware or software?
Can you provide me your solution or 3rd-party ones?

If you need to aquire images at exactly the same time it will require using two 1409 boards and trigggering the camera simultaneously from the same signal. If you use one board with multiple camera, you will not be able to get images at exactly the same time. This is because there is only one A to D converter on the board which must be shared between channels, so you will have a slight delay of approximately one frame from when the camera is reading one channel to the next. If you trigger the cameras simultaneously, they will both be sending information into the baord, but only one can be read at a time, so the second would not be taken in. Below is a link to approaches for coinnecting multiple cameras:

  • Problems uploading images with uppercase (.JPG) file extension.

I am using coldfusion 8 and have no problems uploading an image using CFFile when the image has a lowercase file extensions such as .jpg however if the same file has a Uppercase file extension .JPG coldfusion hangs and then just times out. The files are exactly the same just different cases in the extensions.
    Any idea?
    My cffile is set as such   <cffile accept="image/*" action="upload" destination="#uploadfolder2#" filefield="profilePictureFileBrowser" nameconflict="makeunique" >
I tried changing the accept property to image/*, image/jpg, image/JPG but that did not fix the problem either

Thanks for the quick reply. So I removed the tag and even though I get an error after submitting the form it appears to not hang anyways. Any idea how to fix this?
I am on a windows 2003 server so cases sensitifity should not be a problem. I am perplexed as to why this would work with lowercase extensions an not upper?

  • Problems saving image with outer glow as gif

I've created a logo with an outer glow and it looks great as an illustrator file but there are problems when I save it as a gif file.  The glow is replaced by a white blob around the logo.  Not sure if this has anything to do with it but the image has a transparent background.  I'm new to the Adobe suite.  Should I be adding the glow in Photoshop or can it be done, and look right, in illustrator?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

GIFs cannot have alpha transparency. So you need to choose the same background color as you use on the HTML page, so that Illustrator can calculate your graphic when saving for web.
PNG can have alpha transparency, but you cannot use the "screen" blend mode in it.

  • Problem taking image from PS back to LR

When I send an image from a LR collection to CS3 (select "edit in>adobe photoshop CS3" by right clicking), edit it, then go to save it either LR or CS3 is sometimes saving both the RAW file used and the edited tif in my original folder, not the collection I originally had the file in.  How do I get the edited and RAW file to stay in the collection where it started?
Just tried again and now I can't find the tiff at all.... this is driving me insane.....

As you suggested I unflagged the images in the collection. I then took an image to ps to edit and brought it back; both the RAW and the tiff were removed from the parent collection and moved back to the folder.
I wasnt suggesting you remove the flags from the images in the collection. I was suggesting you turn off any Filters that may be preventing you from seeing any images that dont match the Filter.
For example, lets say you have 10 images in a collection and 5 of them have a Pick Flag. If you Filter to show only Picks then you will see only five images even though the collection actually contains ten.
both the RAW and the tiff were removed from the parent collection and moved back to the folder.   After that happened I unflagged all the images in the folder.
Also, just to clarify, an image or images can be removed from a collection but they are not moved back to the Folder. They are ALWAYS in the folder even if they are in a collection. Its not an either / or proposition.
Can you verify that the collection is:
    1. NOT a Smart Collection
    2. Has no Filtering applied
If so, I would like to suggest you go to Preferences > Catalog Settings > Relaunch and Optimize. Then see if you can repeat the behaviour or if you get "correct" results.
Failing that I would suggest a new catalog as a test to be deleted. Import a dozen images and repeat the Flagging/Collection/Editing procedure to see if you get the "correct" results. Unless I am about to learn something new, there is  no preference left unchecked here and no, one should not have to remove Flags from anywhere in order for the derivative file to appear next to the original in a collection.

  • Any known issues with using JAI-CVM10, Rev. D in Random Trigger Mode w/ PCI-1409

I am using a JAI-CVM10, Rev. D camera with a PCI-1409 framegrabber. I am having trouble getting it to work in random trigger mode. I used the example vi for JAI-CVM10, Rev. F and am able to get a picture using the internal trigger. However, I lose the video signal if my acquisition frequency is too low (3 images/sec) or I use an external trigger. Has anyone had this problem and does anyone have a solution?

    hi Nan:
I have same problem with you.
can you got clear Image? or you got solution.
Could you tell me how to do.
    Thanks.

  • Is the IMAQ PCI-1409 compatible with the JAI CV-M30 camera?

Does the IMAQ PCI-1409 support the double speed and partial scan modes of the JAI CV-M30 camera?

In theory the PCI-1409 should work with the JAI CV-M30; however, National Instruments has not tested that particular camera with our PCI-1409. Since the camera can output the pixel clock, if necessary you could put the PCI-1409 in External Lock mode to lock to the camera signals. You may also need to adjust some of the settings in MAX.
If you need more direct assistance on this matter, please contact National Instruments technical support directly.

  • Sony xc hr50 and pci 1409, snap ok with max 4.0 but nothing with labview

    Good morning folks,
I have a problem snaping or grabbing image through Labview 8.0 using the analog ccd camera xchr50 from sony.
I installed the pci 1409 correctly and am able to configure the camera, and snap or grab image from it through MAX 4.0.
But when it comes to try to snap or grab within my Labview interface, i just come up with an error message saying :
error 1074397153 occured at imaq snap.vi
ni imaq cannot detect recognizable video source
I can't figure out why this error comes out and how to correct it although i can do the same acquisition through max and it goes perfectly well..
I tried with another camera, same thing.
Has someone ever had that kind of problem?

  • Custom confocal question with PCI 1409 based acquisition

We are using a PCI-1409 to acquire a high def and video rate image from a custom confocal system. We use the BNC breakout box to send in luminance, hsync and vsync from the PhotoMultiplierTube and our custom control box.
Because of the way we scan using resonators, we have two corrections that we would like to make to the video stream and are unsure whether it can be done at the camera level, i.e., put code into the .icd file we made, or if it is something that needs to be completed in LabView. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Distortion One: We acquire luminance information in both scanning directions. Our image is thus one where every other line is reversed. Is there a way to reverse every other line and register? Right now we double the effective width of the image and then have to crop the image two times, reverse one image stack and then interleave.
Distortion Two: The velocity of the scanning mirrors varies sinusoidally and thus there is some stretching that occurrs at the edges. How would one go about filtering the stream to correct for this? I assume that this is something that would have to be done in LabView as the pixel clock is fixed.
Attached is the .icd file we modified from defaults to achieve a stable image with the two distortions already mentioned.

    Bruce,
Thanks for weighing in on the matter. I suspected as much although I was hoping that there might be a "line-reversal" option through the camera definition file...such an option is available for other video cards that we use.
For previewing and scanning specimens I would like to do real-time...is there an easy way to throw away the odd lines so that I get an image that does not have the pseudo interlacing issue? Then, when I wanted to capture data I could programmatically use another camera definition with the lines and width doubling and then just post-process later?

  • Why my image acquisition pci 1409 board could not be detected by matlab image acquisition toolbox?

i have a National Instruments PCI-1409 image acquisition board that works very well
with the software provided by National Instruments, whereas it could
not be detected by matlab image acquisition toolbox when the command
"imaqhwinfo" was executed. I don't know why. the system is XP and
    DirectX9.
any of your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Is your matlab image acquisition toolbox DirectX based? If so, NI frame grabber will not work for your matlab image acquisition toolbox because it does not provide WDM or VFW drivers.

i have had my iPhone 5 for almost a year now and have been suffering from this problem for quiet a while now, when taking pictures with my iPhone 5 the result is a blurred image, i dont know why the focus of the image is so bad !

MAke sure teh problem is not do to camera shake by holding it firmly on a solid surface and taking a picture of something in the 10-20 foot range.  If that rules out shake, and the image is blurred, take the iPhone to an Apple store genius bar and have it examined.  Backup all of your content in iCloud in case the verdict is a replaement iPhone, they can resore your content from an iCloud backup.
