A Problem with a K7T-Turbo 2

HI
I have a K7T Turbo2 (MS-6330 Ver5.0) and I'm with a problem here: When I'm botting, the POST screen shows my Cyberdrive 48x CD-Rom as a ATA-33. This is ok but, when I'm in the Windows XP Professional or in the Windows 2000 Professional, I cannot set the Ultra DMA 33 mode. It only accepts DMA multiword mode. This Cyberdrive CD-Rom also works fine in other motherboards. I also have borrowed other CD-roms drivers and recorders with some friends for test (Sony, Creative, Asus, Plextor, Generic, etc) and I've got the same problem. ;(
So, anyone knows how can I fix this problem?
PS.: I'm already using the latest BIOS version of this Motherboard and the latest VIA patches and Service Packs for the both windows (XP and 2000).

I will try to downgrade the BIOS version later. But is this my only hope?  ;(

  • Problems with 3d!Turbo

    Greetings.
I have just laid my hands on an MSI FX-card, but I seem to have som problems with the software. When I first installed 3dTurbo I installed it on a fresh WXP-installation upon which I had only installed the mobo-drivers. That first time I launched it, it worked, but not since. I keep getting the same error-message.
    Invallid pNvuClockInit
I press okey and the program shuts down and Mr. Gates is asking for information about the problem.
The same thing happens when I select the properties of the desktop, MSI Clock. If I push any button there my screen immediately blurrs, the coloring messed up and rectangular fields apear, like som huge pixels or something. Looks kinda like when you run a graficscard to hot. After a second the computer hangs with a messed up picture and only a hard reboot will make it answer any calls...

PhanosP: That was why I turned to you in this community. I had reinstalled the drivers, I had rebooted the puter I had even uninstalled every program I could ever imagine could interfere with the card in any concievable way and was starting to fear a hardware-error. I had forgotten one program though. After uninstalling liveupdate and installed the new version of it, it worked.
Wonkanoby: I do as well feel that 3d!turbo is a tad tacky, to say the least, but as I am not an overclocker I have no better option downloaded, nor do I realy understand how to access those advanced properties you speak of. The reason I use 3d!turbo is for temp-monitoring. If the card runs considerably hotter without its active cooling, I will need to install another papst. My goal is 20db and with time and a few dollars more I will get there:)
    Thanks for your help guys!

  • K7T Turbo-R Limited Edition W/Raid

    Two questions,
first how do you tell if your XP 1800+ is a palomino? I purchased one but all it says is AMD Athlon XP 1800+ on the factory sticker.
Second when I use this processor with my K7T Turbo-R Limited W/Raid it will boot up fine, displays the correct processor speed (shows XP 1800+ in post) but the pc will at random times out of the blue just re-boot. I have a 400 watt psu AMD approved.  and my memory is good. I've done all the bios updates also. Is it possible that this is an unsupported cpu?

  • K7T Turbo LE and problems with IRQ routing Win98SE

When I boot my machine (AMD 1600+ on an MSI K7T Turbo Limited Edition), the BIOS reports me the following:
SiS6326 AGP card: NA (no IRQ even if I enable "Assign IRQ to VGA" in BIOS, but that's not my problem)
Startech NIC in slot 2: IRQ 11
    D-Link DFE-538 TX in slot 3: IRQ 10
Echo Mia soundcard in slot 4: IRQ 5
Onboard Promise ATA100 controller: IRQ 11
2x USB controllers Via 3038: IRQ 3 for each one
IDE controllers: IRQ 14 and 15
In "Settings - Control Panel - System - Device Manager", there's one big difference:
The two USB controllers (Via 3038 PCI to USB) are on IRQ 10!!! The only way for Via USB controllers to be on their real good one IRQ (3) is to completely disable "IRQ Steering" in "Settings - Control Panel - System - Device Manager - System Devices - PCI Bus".
    To resolve this, I tried:
    - different Via 4 in 1 (4.32, 4.35, 4.36): no changes
    - Via IRQ miniport uninstalled: no changes
    - Enable "PnP OS" and "ACPI" in the BIOS: no changes
    - Tried all the combinations in "Settings - Control Panel - System - Device Manager - System Devices - PCI Bus - IRQ Steering" (except disabling IRQ Steering because like I said, it resolves the bug. Though, I want IRQ Steering to be enabled AND the bug resolved).
So, if anyone have a clue, it will be really appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Problem with memory in k7t turbo limited ed.

serious problem!! i've got mainbord k7t turbo limited edition with vhipset via vt82c686b. untill now i had one 128 MB memory installed. I want to extend my memory but when i insert another memory to another slot computer does not start... (led status i all red!) no metter to with slot i insert new memory (its the right pc133 memory type) and no matter if it's 128 or 256 MB. Witho only one slot used it work properly even with 256 MB. Problem occurs only with 2 or more slots sed... this memory works with no problems in other computer (different mainboard)
    PLEASE HELP!!!!
    thanks in advance

Most times is due to incompatibility between memory modules. Best way to avoid it is to buy 2 modules same brand, or one bigger module.

  • K7T Turbo-R (6330 v3) & Athlon XP 1800 Problem

My current system is a K7T Turbo-R that I've had for a couple of years now.  During this time, I've used an Athlon T-Bird 1.33GHz processor without any issues - very stable (I can probably count on one hand the number of lock-ups).  The power supply is a 300W Antec.
I decided to upgrade the CPU.  I checked the CPU support status and found that the highest I could use with this board is an Athlon XP 1800+ Palomino, which is what I purchased (code on the core is AX1800DMT3C).
After removing the TBird and installing the XP (along with a new CPU cooler), the system won't post at all, and all 4 LEDs are red.   :O
I reinstalled the TBird (along with the same new cooler) and all is fine again.  Figuring I had simply received a bum CPU, I tested the same XP 1800 on another system (a Soltek PurpleRay) and found that the CPU was fine.
Note: The BIOS is at v3.6 and J17 is open.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

This reply is for Mustang (a bit late maybe  )
The description of your problem indicates one or more failing capacitors on your motherboard. Check out this link for some example pictures of what that looks like:
    http://www.careyholzman.com/caps/thumbnails.html
The reason i'm thinking about this is that i replaced 6 dead capacitors on my own K7T turbo last weekend. 4 of the 4700uF/6.3V ones had died (around the CPU socket), and both of the 2700uF/6.3V ones near the AGP slot. My system was showing the EXACT same symptom you are having. It would not boot after powering on with the power button, but a reset helped (this is at 1000 MHz, at 1333 MHz resetting did not help). This also explains why your old processor works fine, but the new one doesnt. Your PSU/power regulator combo is able to provide a stable enough voltage to the old processor with it's low power consumption. But with the new more power-hungy processor those big capacitors (which help stabilizing the voltage supplied to the processor) are missed :/
Apparently a Taiwanese capacitor producer supplied a large number of faulty capacitors to motherboard producers like msi, asus, abit, etc. More info in here: (and lots of other sites too)

Hope this is indeed your problem, and that you can fix it

  • K7T Turbo LE IDE problem?

    Hi,
I'm stuck here. I have an AMD Athlon 1400/266 (T-bird) running on the K7T Turbo Limited Edition mainboard, BIOS version 3.6. 512 MB PC133 SDRAM. 2 Maxtor HD's. My system is about 2 years old.
In the last 2 months, the following has started to happen:
Occasionally (say, 1 out of 10 attempts), my PC won't boot (DISK_BOOT_FAILURE). I know this in advance because when it happens, it gives two short beeps when powered up (can't find the meaning of them :O ).
The problem is: sometimes the Primary Master is gone ("none"), but other times, it's the primary slave. In that case, the PC will boot but behaves very strange once WinXP is started. And sometimes, both master and slave show up as "None"  ?(
The optical drives on IDE2 are detected at all times.
D-Bracket is all green. I reseated the IDE cable with no result. Tested both the Maxtor HD's, no errors.
    So, what now? Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dennis

Just came back from my holiday so I ran some more tests.
First, I checked the drives one at a time using the PowerMax utility. 81GB slave is fine (tested alone).
40GB master is fine 9 out of 10, 10th time it says "Please Perform extended diagnostics" and then it reports "Congratulations, your drive passed all tests!"
    A little weird....
Looks like failing drive, but could this also be IDE controller communication failure?
I also tried replacing the 80pin IDE cable with a 40pin cable which is brand new. This makes no difference other than slower system speed.
Maxtor website has no info, MSI same story.
    Now what???  ;(

  • K7T Turbo CPU upgrade problem

I've got a ms-6330 K7T Turbo limited edition board.  I've been running a 900mhz Duron for years in this board with no problems.  I recently bought an XP1800+ (palomino).  I upgraded to the newest version BIOS, changed the jumper for the 133 FSB and installed the CPU.  The first power-up it hung on the post screen.  After that, I got nothing.  The D-led shows it is hanging at processor initialization.  Put my Duron back in and it works fine.
I bought the processor off Ebay and realize this may be my problem.  But it was from a reputable seller.  Is there something else I could try before trying to contact the seller for a replacement?  I wish I had another socket A board to try it in, but I don't.

Are you 100% sure you recieved a Palomino core?
You can refer to this chart, and compare the CPU to the pictures, to verify that it is a palomino core.
Also, insure the the heatsink is properly seated, as they will fit the wrong way, but will not make good contact with the CPU.
Did you use fresh thermal grease on the heatsink?
    PC133 is required to use a 133FSB.
Try clearing the CMOS, and see if that will allow it to boot.

  • K7T Turbo Limited Ed. and problems :(

    Hallo
I have MSI K7T Turbo Limited Edition mobo (on KT133A). Yesterday something strange happened. I was surfing the net and suddenly my PC rebooted. After reboot I saw that in BIOS test, BIOS didin't detect my hard drives connected to first controller. CD-ROM and CD-RW were properly detected on the second controller.
I turn the PC off....waited about 30 seconds and turn it on. And everything was fine again. But in a short time it happened again. But now I heard something strange. I heard that both drives are stopping...slow down wnd stop. After a 1-2 sec. windows XP freezed and PC rebooted again :( And again there was no drives detected on first controller :(
    I checked:
    1. viruses - system is clean. I checked it with NAV2003 (within windows and dos - from bootable disc)
    2. I tried to plug those 2 drives (15 GB Caviar and 15 GB Fujitsu) to the second controler (first was empty).
I asked some friends about it and one said that it could be power supply (maybe there is some instability or something).
Someone else told me that it could be a battery on the mobo (I have has this mobo for 2 years).
Or maybe it is a problem with motherboard? Maybe controller is damged....but...from the other hand when I restar the PC everythin works fine....some time :(
System: AMD XP1700+ (not overclocked), mobo as I said above, Radeon 8500, CD-ROM and CD-RW (pluged to second controller), Caviar 15 GB and Fujitsu (pluggeg do first controller), Windows XP with SP1.
I had no problems with that system befere.

    Hi
I must check the type of that battery...but from the other hand if the battery was the problem it wouldn't keep all BIOS settings. Am I right? But it keeps.
Power supply is 300W - it is a kind off no-name (I bouhgt it with case 3 months ago and there was no problems befere :( )
I've already borrowed one - I'll check it later today (after work).

  • K7t turbo won't boot with xp1800+

I'm tyring to do an upgrade from my 1.4 tbird to a xp1800+ palomino. I have 2 sticks of pc133 crucial ram and a 300W sparkle psu. I've been running at 133 the entire time i've had the 1.4 cpu.
the bios will detect the 1800+ fine, but the computer always reboots when it gets to the "Starting windows xp" screen
    what could be the problem?

    Hi
I have also bought a new cpu (XP1800+) for my K7T Turbo and the day before I upgraded the cpu I updated the bios from 3.2 to 3.6
Then I upgraded the cpu, and have a lot of trouble!
The machine stops all kinds of places, it is very hard/tricky to turn it on, some times I need to restart it serveral times.
The led displays (D-LED) comes with different failure from stopping at early chipset initialization to testing vga bios and initializing keyboard controller.
I found that the default VCore is not the 1.750V as required by the XP1800+ and that the motherboard only supports VCore = 1.700V, set this by manual.
Then remember to remove the jumper on the board to work with cpu's at 133FSB.
These things helped me a lot, but my machine was still very unstable.
I have now downgraded my BIOS to ver. 3.2 and testet it for one day, and have not experienced any kind of problem, except that it does not recognize my cpu as a XP1800+ but runs at 1533 MHz
I think, that theres a bug in the BIOS ver. 3.6 for the motherboard! ??
This is also showed by the problems did'nt stop when I changed my cpu back to the old TB1000, and had the same problems as with the XP1800+
    So my advise:
    - set the VCore manually
    - remove the jumper
    - downgrade your bios
I have plans to upgrade my bios 0.1 version at a time, until it becomes unstable, and then go 0.1 version back.
Im writing a new thread on this subject to, where I will also write about my experince about the bios upgrades.
    Good Luck!
    Regards

  • Weird problems with kt7 turbo (6330), PLEASE HELP!!

I just this last week purchased an older kt7 turbo (6330) to upgrade my brother's computer. I am pairing this with an Athlon XP 1700 processor. After installing all the hardware and booting up the computer, I started getting various errors. Sometimes the screen would just flash all kinds of colors, sometimes it would say something about a bios check not detecting the a: drive followed by insistent beeping, sometimes it just wouldn't start at all. After much hassle, I finally got the newest bios installed from MSI that claimed to fix some stuff between this motherboard and an Athlon XP 1700. (I didn't at the time suspect this to be the true culprit) Finally on Sunday afternoon, after a cold start, it magically started up and I finally got Windows XP installed. I found some drivers on the reference CD that seemed to help some. But now, after about 5-10 minutes, depending on the software being used, the computer will just shut itself down after a 60 second warning message. When I try reseting it, I start getting all of those weird errors again. The only way to get the computer to start up normally again is to let it sit for about 10-15 minutes to cool down, and then cold start it. At which point it will work again for another 10-15 minutes and shut down again. I am getting SOOOOO tired of these MSI motherboards not working for me!! I think MSI has a personal problem with me. PLEASE help me!! By the way, I don't think it's power related, cause I just put in a brand new P4 certified 400Watt powersupply.

Sounds like your heatsink on your CPU may not be seated correctly. Try pulling it, cleaning, reapplying compound, and reseating it.

  • K7T Turbo2 (6330v5) problem (with locked Tbreds)

    Hi,
I've recently bought a K7T Turbo2 board (6330v5) OEM version (green PCB) made probably for Fujitsu-Siemens UK. They probably didn't need those board anymore and sold them (a lot of wholesalers have them in my country now).
Anyway I think the board I bought is damaged, but I not sure.
    The problem is that it won't POST with locked T-breds. I've tried a 2000+ (3rd week of 2004) and a 2400+ locked T-bred (46th week of 2003) and the PC haven't started.
But with a T-Bird 1400Mhz, a 1700+ and 1800+ Palomino (probably locked) and 2400+ unlocked T-bred the board started without any problems.
Is this the problem with new XP processors (produced after the 39th week 2003 and internally locked) and this board or I have a damaged board?
    TIA,
    Max

Well, I didn't know it was the OEM version when I was buying it...  But in this case I don't think the bios is the problem. The board looks virtually the same as the normal board.
    And it boots with a pre-39 (24th week of 2003) T-bred 2400+, so it's not a lack of compatibility with T-bred issue.
For me it seems that this board has problem with T-bred made after the 39th week of 2003 (internally locked ones).
So I need to know if all of those boards have the same problem, or only this one?
BTW. Currently I'm running my unlocked T-bred 2400+ on a Abit KT7A board, and I've tried the same locked T-bred 2400+ that failed on MSI K7T Turbo2 on my abit board and it also didn't boot. So maybe there's something wrong the KT133A chip which makes KT133A boards incompatible with new locked T-breds?
Of course the locked T-bred runs fine on a KT400 board or a nforce2 ultra400 boards...

  • Problem with K7T Pro (MS-6330)

I've been used MSI K7T Pro (MS-6330) for 2 years and it worked just fine. But recently the problem occurred. After I've upgraded CPU from Duron 600 to TB 1.2 GHz, when I run a heavy-loaded application such as 3DMark, 3D games (UT2003) my computer will stop working (IMO: my case just like the classic K7T Pro) but when I touched the SC1155 chip, it just warm (it won't burn my finger). So I'm confused that is my mobo defected or not?
Oh, almost forgot .. my mobo was modified and can adjust multiplier.
    FYI:
I've tried underclock CPU to 950 MHz and I've found that 950 work fine (or at least it use very long time to run full-loaded and then die). Once I forgot to plugged electric-cable for my heatsink fan and temp goes 66-68C and still working normally (not running 3D app.)
So, can anyone suggest me what is the problem with my mobo?
Thank you very much and apologize for my language  :P
    My Spec:
AMD Athlon (TB) 1.2 GHz (but now run @950MHz) VCore 1.55 (tried 1.55-1.85 result is the same)
MSI K7T Pro (MS-6330) modified to adjust multiplier
    250W Powersupply
    256 MB PC133
    Winfast GF2MX 32 MB
    SB Live! Value
    Lite-on DVD16x
    2 Harddisk (40GB and 4 GB)

    Hi,
RMA the board, contact your nearest MSI office and ask for the RMA department.
There is not much more you can do.

  • 6330 K7T Turbo Limited Ed. Problem

I bought a brand new 6330 K7T Turbo Limited Edition.
It shuts down by itself within 10 minutes (sometimes even within 5 sec.).
The temperature protection in the BIOS has been turned off and I've upgrade to
the latest BIOS (V3.5).  I tried unplugging everything except the powersupply,
memory, K/B, Mouse and video card.  But it does the samething.  Please Help.  Thanks.
    CPU: AMD Athelon 1.1 Ghz
    RAM: Kingston PC-133 128MB
Video Card: ATI Xpert 2000 (Rage 128 Pro)
400 W power supply. (Known good)

    It shut down completely.
I didn't even have any HDD connected.  (M/B, RAM, CPU, Video Card, Cooling FAN, K/B & Mouse only)  I'm sure the PSU is good because I'm using it now (so as the other accessories).  the PSU is 400 W, 30A@5V, [email protected]
I tried 3 different brands of video cards, 2 brands of memory modules.  They all did the same thing.

  • Have problem with K7t-266pro2-A NEED HELP !!

HI, I have a MSI K7T266pro2-a and I just got it yesterday. Everything works fine, except for one thing, which is my floppy disk drive. It detects it, however, it wont scan any of the diskettes i insert. Also when i goto my floppy drive it has an error saying some error that it cant read it or something then asks to retry, abort, fail and it keeps going like that. How do i fix this problem with the Floppy drive, Thanks.

Have you tested another floppy drive? How bout another cable? For some reason, I have had to change floppies depending on the mobo because some I have had don't like some floppies I have had.
