A problem with importing layered PSD file into Flash

Hi.
There's a problem with importing layered PSD file into Flash.
If I import a layered PSD file, some part the color of the lower layer is shown at the edge of objects or shadows. Instead, if I crop each layers first and import them, there's no problem.
If the higher layer has brush or transparent effects, it becomes worse.
Any help with this problem?
Thanks.

How was the original art created? Was the original RGB or CMYK? What is the resolution of the Photoshop file? Flash only works well with RGB and 72 pixel per inch resolution. If your original art is not set this way, then Flash will attempt to convert it as it imports it. Flash uses the sRGB color space. You'll get the best color translation if your Photoshop file is using this color preference.

  • Can't import any .psd files into after effects.

    Hello all.
I was using CS5 master collection without issue, for a year.
Decided to upgrade to the CS6 master collection and that’s when the problems began.
For example, I can’t import any .psd files into AE.
All files are saved in RGB mode.
The previous files were made on CS5.
I made a new .psd file in CS6 with just a couple of layers on it, couldn’t import that either.
I’ve tried Ctrl-alt-shift to delete preferences, that had limited success. I can import a file and do a little bit of work on it but as soon as I close the file down and opened it up again, it does not recognise the .psd file.
The errors I’m getting in AE are many
    For example:
After Effects warning: Reading past end of file
After Effects error: Could not open intro.psd because it is not a valid Photoshop document
After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message:<8104><dynamiclink><5>C:\ProgramFiles\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS6\Adobe Premiere Pro exe
After Effects error: Not enough memory to initialise PSL
    I have un-installed and re-installed many times.
    I’m using Windows 8, with 32ram. Hard drives C: 100mg, D: 2 Tb
I’ve tried installing on both drives, still the same thing happens.
Does anyone out there in Adobe Land have any ideas?
    Totally confused
    Cheers,
    Gary.

    Hi Arie,
    Thanks for your response.
It actually happens with every .psd file regardless of size or specs.
All the other programs in the CS6 master collection work fine, except for AE and PS.
I tried the small file. Created a small file, 100 px by 100px 72dpi, just with a gradient background. Same thing, not enough memory to initialise PSL.
I got the adobe cleaner, and re-installed on my system (again) .... same thing.
As long as I open AE with doing ctrl-alt-shift every single time or export layers from PS individually I seem to be OK.
The problem is far from solved, so I guess i just have to put up with workarounds.
Thanks for taking the time to respond

  • Importing layered photoshop files into FCP7

I have made a photoshop file (tiff) with a transparent background. The file has three layers. When I import it into FCP7 it appears with a white background. Also when I double click on it it does not show me the layers...Where am I going wrong...help!

Also, there may be a problem with a layered photoshop file saved on a PC.  You may need to open and save in photoshop on the Mac before importing into fcp.

  • Image problems importing Illustrator 10 file into Flash MX.

    Hello,
I'm working on my portfolio and want to import an Illustrator
(version 10) file into Flash (Flash MX). The problem I'm having is
that when I import the Illustrator file into Flash, it comes out
looking blurred. I tried exporting the Illustrator file into
Photoshop and saving it as a JPEG, PNG, and TIFF (in each file
format, changing the image size to 72 dpi) and I still get the same
blurred result. I also tried saving the file for web, in
Illustrator (in JPEG and PNG formats) with no success as well.
The Illustrator file is a small collage of my graphic design
work (where I pasted graphic work done in Illustraor and made
clipping masks to collage them together), so I'm not sure if
bringing these files together maybe causing some technical issue or
is importing Illustrator files into Flash just something that will
always appear blurred. If so, is there a way I can bring the file
into Photoshop and work with it where I can import it without the
    blurred appearance?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

We have multiple request to add support for externally linked files and certainly see the value. There also are a couple third party solutions that offer linked file behavior (I'm not sure what versions of Ps they work with). You can see and add to the request (and find the third party solutions) here:

  • Problem with Preview and PSD files - random gray square

Hi guys, hope you can help...
I've got a problem with Preview and PSD files.
If I open in Preview both an original jpg straight from my reflex and the photoshop version of the same picture, the psd file presents a gray square (of what it seems unrendered image) in a random area of the photo (sometimes in the center.). The square is quite big...
If I zoom in or zoom out it disappears...if I scroll to another photo and then back to the psd, the square it's there again...sometimes in a different position.
I've tried the same psd on my older iMac with leopard...and got no problem at all.
I suspect it got something to do with my Ati...
(this is the second iMac 27...the first went back for gray banding on the lcd screen and flickering and yellow tinge........)
    Thanks for your help.
    DAve.

    maybe I'm onto something...
I've just found out that opening Preview in 32bit mode (instead of default 64bit) works flawlessly with any psd files. If I switch back to 64bit mode, Preview is much faster but the gray square comes back...
It seems like the i7 is much faster than the Ati....
    Any more realistic ideas?

How do I import a PSD file into AI?

Place the PSD (File menu) if you are bringing it into an existing AI document, or simply choose to Open it if you are going to use the document size from the PSD file and simply add to it.

  • Importing a PSD document into flash?? Help

    Hello,
I am trying to import my PSD document into flash, I designed my website in photosphop but for some reason flash
seems to handle everything a little weird. Can Flash handle the different you place on things from photoshop?
    t=Thanks

Usually it is easier to separate your psd and save each element for web then import to those to Flash and rebuild.
But it is indeed handy to import your psd directly. If you do so:
Play with your import settings when importing your psd to Flash. You may want some items to remain vector shapes, you may or may not want to keep text editable, some you may want to import as bitmaps, most you will probably want to convert to movie clips, etc.
    A few bullet points:
    • Flash will turn your layer styles to separate bitmaps and will usually distort them funny.
    • Make sure your psd color profile is sRGB before importing to Flash.
    • Some fonts will not import to Flash from a psd nicely, if you dont need to edit the text you should convert the type to shape (make a copy of the layer first, though, you may have to go back and edit - typos happen)
    • Flash will turn bitmaps as pngs. These may increase file size, so you may still have to go back to PS and export some as jpg (if you do though, once you import those to flash, right click in your library and click Properties and uncheck "Use Imported JPG Quality" and set the percentage yourself).
The list can go on, but I'm tired and can't think of all the tips and tricks.
One thing is for sure: Be sure to go over all the importing options in Flash and all the layers carefully before hitting OK.

  • How to import a PSD file into Indesign WITH layers so it can be edited/saved as an InDesign file?

How to import a Photoshop file into Indesign CS6 so that it's layers show in InDesign and it can then be edited/saved as an InDesign file?

    MyTienN wrote:
Someone had mentioned the possibility of saving each individual layer in Photoshop as a png file and importing into Indesign and adjusting it in there
What do you mean by "adjust"? Editing of Photoshop images should be done in Photoshop.
Sure, it's possible to save individual layers from an image in Photoshop as inidvidual files in a variety of formats, but what's the point? You could just as easily import the layered file, then copy/paste it into a new layer for each layer in the image and use layer visibility to control which ones show. I don't think that will do you a lot of good, though, if you use adjustment layers or opacity controls on the layer in Photoshop.

  • I need help with Importing my Illustrator file into After Effects, I'm having problems

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. I am having a hard time importing this Illustrator file into After Effects. Here's how it is in the Illustrator file
As you can see, I made all the layers separate so then when I import it I can work on each and every one.  (I want them to bloom from the center)
but when I import to After Effects (I ask to import the composition and retain the layers), the size looks completely different:
Then when I drag down the layers folder to the Comp Panel, the layer order starts getting really messed up. Here is what I am talking about
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it? Also how can I figure out how to let the petals boom? I'm thinking of scaling the center larger first and then scaling the petals from there. but first I have to figure out how to get the size distortion and the layer orders right. Thanks.

You need to open the comp not drag layers in a new comp.

  • Imported a .psd file into project - why showing up as a sequence?

    hi everyone
i successfully imported a photoshop file into a project recently, after help from you, and it ended up working fine. I adjusted the size and placement in the viewer and got what i wanted.
i have tried to do it again, with a different photoshop file, however this time when i import it into the browser it appears with a sequence icon, rather than clip icon. so when i double click to open it up and adjust - it opens a new dedicated timeline rather than in the viewer - i THOUGHT i'd done everything the same - but i guess not.
    what did i do different?
    thanks
    hugh

Its a feature! Not a bug. By importing a .psd file you can play with the layers in FCP. Apply motion features to a layer, fade the layers on and off at different times, or just change the opacity to suit your background. I know several people that create all their lower thirds for a show in one .psd file and then change the info by turning on and off the different layers. The advantage is you can easily maintain control and placement of your graphics. Like the previous responder I personally don't like .psd's in my timeline. I prefer .pict. Probably because when I started editing it was the only choice on a Mac and it allows for an alpha channel. Using alpha or matte channels make the best keys.

  • Dynamically importing a .mov file into flash

    Hi,
I need to import a .mov file into a flash file and create a
.swf movie. I can do it through File > Import Movies option. But
I want to make it dynamic and import the movie. I would like to use
ActionScripts rather than the File> Import options. Pls let me
know if this is possible. Let me know if you have any questions.
    Appreciate any help.
    Thanks & Regards,

You can only dynamically load at runtime FLV movies.
You can automate the authoring time environment but this is
only with the Authoring tool. See

  • Import layered ai files into motion and problem  when export to psd

has anyone found a way to import  rapidly ai files layered into motion?
I tryed to export from ai a psd file in layers but i am allowed to do it only in cmyk, and result is weird, all color changed. any help please?

Converting vector layer to shape when the vector layer contains a gradient is not supported. Gradients will come in as a gray fill. If you have more than one fill on a layer you will get both fills but you will loose the blend modes or any opacity masks on the fill. Basically you're stuck with solid color fills and solid color paths when you use Shape to Vector Layer.
Also, each illustrator path you want to turn into a shape must be on a separate layer. Multiple shapes on in the same layer will come in as a shape layer but the paths and fills will not be correct. AE will do it's best to figure out what you want but the chances for multiple paths filled with different colors in the same layer to be converted correctly is remote.
You can, however, add and modify as many gradient fills as you like to a shape layer in AE.

  • Importing a layered photohop file into flash [CS3]

Hi there, new to the Forums here and for starters heres a
    good challenge for you.
I have a .psd file with a background image and 3 layers above
this. The 3 layers have numberous layer styles and settings applied
    to them.
    See Image >>
I have tried importing this psd into flash by converting the
top 3 layers into movie clips (and selecting keep layers editable
in the settings) when importing. (Think I found this on a tutorial
    from Computer Arts.)
While this does import the layers all the layers styles do
not seem to be displaying correctly as in the photoshop document.
I hope someone can give me a little guidance on this matter
as the resident flash guy in the media centre I work in wasnt able
    to help!
The .psd file is below hosted on mediafire if anyone wants to
    try it out.

  • Problems with import of static files/images

I have a series of static files (such as jquery/jquery ui libraries) that we have been storing in WORKSPACE_IMAGES. We had hoped to be able to export the static files and use our automated build process to import the files via sqlplus. However, I have run into problems with the files being "corrupted"...either they don't show up at all in firebug, or one file contains parts of another file, rendering it useless. If I delete these files and re-upload them separately through the builder, then I don't have any problems.
I can only assume there is some perhaps special character or some other issue that I'm not aware of either during the export process or the import process.
My first preference would be to store these files on the app server, but unfortunately that's not on the table at the moment.
Any ideas what would be causing the issues here?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Jeff

    Hello all,
This is an old thread, but it's an old problem that I'm concerned may still be continuing.
We're moving from 3.2 to 4.1. While copying our applications from 3.2 to a test 4.1 installation, we did a static file export for "All static files" from 3.2 and did an import to 4.1. We're seeing the same behavior that I and others have reported in the past - any static files that are javascript are corrupted when "all static files" was chosen. Exporting/importing each javascript static file individually appears to work fine.
If the bug was in 3.2 in that it was generating a corrupted export file when "all static files" is chosen, then I'm not concerned - we're moving from 3.2 anyway. But, if the issue is in the import then it must still exist in 4.1 and that would be a concern.
Does anyone know if this was a recognized bug in 3.2 and has since been corrected?
    Thanks!
    John

  • Problem with importing a AVI file

    Hi everyone,
I did a capture to hard drive of a VHS home movie via Turtle Beach PCI card software, saving as .avi file that is roughly 2 hrs long, when I import into Premier Pro CS3, I only see the first 2 minutes. Anyone have a suggestions on what I can do to.
    Thanks,
    George

    George,
I just finished a project, similar to yours and used the same hardware, TB PCI, and their software for the Capture. In my case, I chose AVI uncompressed and every file Imported into Premiere fine. Do you recall which CODEC you selected in the TB software. The only problem with AVI uncompressed is very, very large file sizes and I had 32 VHS tapes, some EP and some LP.
Quite a few folk on this forum have had excellent results with the Canopus products, but I already had the TB, so I did not change.
If G-Spot throws a fit, then you probably have a corrupt file. I assume that G-Spot installed OK, and the errors were with your AVI file. If not, try install again with all AV, Spyware, etc. software turned off. Try to Capture again with AVI uncompressed and see if your result is different.
