A process called "NETserver" continually my CPU
My Activity Monitor shows me that a process called NETserver uses just short of 70% of the CPU, and does so continuously (i.e. at least over the past hour). Another process, mDNSResponder, gobbles up another 40%, and syslogd another 40%.
Any ideas what these processes do, and whether this is OK??? The iMac gets quite hot, especially towards the upper part.
Thanks for any pointers.
Cheers,
Veit
have no idea what NETserver is, but here is an article that says it is
a brother twain driver. I have a brother twain driver setup, but I don't
have any process running called NETserver.
http://boardreader.com/thread/NETservermDNSResponder_syslogd_using_up5p2wzX1avdi.html
Mac OS X v10.6 uses the mDNSResponder process for unicast DNS (Domain Name System)
functions, as well as Bonjour functions.
The syslogd server receives and processes log messages. Several modules receive input messages
through various channels, including UNIX domain sockets associated with the syslog(3), asl(3), and
kernel printf APIs, and optionally on a UDP socket from network clients.

A process called "rundll32.exe" occupied 50% of the cpu in windows 7 OS
Hello, i found a serious problem with my Macbook late 2009 that when i install 32-bit windows 7 under bootcamps 3.1 and Mac OS 10.6.1. There's a process called "rundll32.exe" occupied 50% of the cpu even when i didn't run any softwares.I reinstalled 5 times using different Windows 7 version, but the problem still remain. The process can't be terminated once it appeared, it always appeared after 5 mins to 30 mins after i reboot the Macbook. I'm going to try 64-bit windows 7 and Mac OS 10.6.2 this afternoon, but i seems it won't be fixed, i will post the result later anyway. Anyone know how to deal with this sort of thing?
You really need a windoz site to ask such a question..... after all this is the Apple site..
But rundll32.exe is using 50% of your processors idle process...which is nothing.... run a app or three and the runddll32 will be taking next to nothing....one copy will run per app I think.. -

I USED TO be able to make phone calls using continuity on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) with Yosemite (10.10) via my iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 8.1 without any problems. Once I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, my iPhone's springboard would continually crash where it brings up the Apple logo and quickly restarts repeatedly until I end the call. Just so that you know, I am able to stay on the call while this is occurring the whole time.
I need to reiterate, this all started happening as soon as I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1 while still on iOS 8.1. I know this because I made a few phone calls (loving the feature), updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, then made a few phone calls afterwards, and this started happening.
When iOS 8.1.1 came out, I eagerly updated hoping this issue would go away, and it did not. I'm hoping Apple notices this post. If anyone else has this problem, please contact Apple and chime in this post as well. Thank you Apple for incorporating continuity calling. I love this feature, but need to use it without my phone's springboard constantly crashing.I have this issue as well. I am using an iPhone 6 plus, iPad Air 2, 5K iMac, and MacBook Pro. When I make a continuity calls from any device, the springboard crashes. This only happens with outgoing calls, incoming calls are functioning normal. I am currently working with multiple Apple Senior Advisors, and they are working directly with iOS a engineers. I have an active open case and will update this thread when a resolution is found.
Just a tip for everyone with this issue, restoring your devices and setting them up as new WILL NOT correct this issue. Save yourself the hassle. I did this with my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook and the issue still persists. -
BME-99003: An error occurred, so processing could not continue.
Got the error message below when working with my faces-config.xml file.
I currently have several JSF navigation cases labeled as "!NLS Error" (No Quotes)
Steps to create the error...
1. Create an ADF Faces project with 10-15 pages and navigation rules between each page.
2. Outside of JDeveloper, redo your folder structure on how you store your pages.
3. Inside Jdeveloper, update the source of faces-config.xml to point to the new location of the files.
4. Click on the diagram tab.
On my screen, the diagram for both the old and new files was appearing. When trying to delete the diagram for the old files, I got the error message. I cannot save the file faces-config.oxd_faces.

Really not that bad of an issue, I only posted because the error message directed me to. -
I have been a happy user of Firefox for many years. Around last April first I opened Firefox and was offered an update to v 4.42.0.0 which I accepted. Installation seemingly went well. I forget now exactly what happened but the result has been that ever since April 1 I haven’t been able to open the Firefox browser when clicking on the Firefox icon. My computer now was running very slowly. I tried to uninstall Firefox, but a popup told me I couldn’t because Firefox was in use. This confused me because I couldn’t see it being used. Only now I have found that on Task Manager processes that “firefox.exe” was consuming 99 % of the CPU. After removing firefox.exe by clicking End Process my computer ran better. I uninstalled Firefox I had on my computer and installed Firefox 5.0. Unfortunately I have the same problems: Firefox does not open when clicking on the icon, the firefox.exe process consumes 99 % of the CPU and my computer runs slowly.
Born2die! Brilliant. I am a desktop clicker and never knew Firefox had a safe mode.
Thank You!
I was unable to start in safe mode initially. The second time I disabled all of the Add-Ons and she started up just fine. I enabled them one by one hoping to track down the culprit but the problem seems to have gone away.
BTW I am running ver. 3.6.8 (in response to cor-el's earlier post) and
Firefox is in the process of downloading 3.6.10 (which I am starting to think may have been what caused this whole problem to begin with)
Incidentally, whats up with all of the Java Console Add Ons?
I have:
Java Console 6.0.11, Java Console 6.0.13, Java Console 6.0.15
Java Console 6.0.17, Java Console 6.0.20, and Java Console 6.0.21
What are they? Do I need them? Can I uninstall them? Is this due to using Open Office?
Also, .NET Framework 0.0.0 Should I uninstall it? -
Asynchronous BPEL Process called from an empty BPEL process getting lost.
Hi
I have an empty BPEL process calling an asynchronous BPEL process. The empty process is triggered by a read file activity. It finishes successfully and even calls the asynchronous process. There is no error thrown but the called asynchronous process does not show up in the dashboard.
When this asynchronous process is manually run from the console I get the page stating 'Cannot find the specified instance'.
I am using Jdev 10.1.3.2 and SOA Suit 10.1.3.1.
Any suggestion as to why this is happening and what is the remedy?
Buddhadev.Check your log as soon as you find that the parent process has found its way into the console. More information on logging can be found here - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/integrate.1013/b28982/logging.htm
Not quite sure why its so, but since 10.1.3, I've observed that the console simply doesn't show errored processes at times. So, checking the log can be a starting point in diagnosing the real issue.

What is this process called in Elements?
I purchased PE9 and inside the box cover they show that you can take two picture
s and change the faces of a person if one looks better. What is this process called because I want to look up some tuto
rials on how to use this great feature.
Thank youHere is another approach to "open" a closed eye for example.
Use the lasso to roughly select the good eye.
Feather the selection a few pixels to soften the edges.
Copy and paste the selection to a new layer.
Flip the layer horizontally.
Use the Move tool with arrow keys to position the copy eye over the closed eye.
If some of the edges are visible (maybe due to not enough feathering) you can remove these with the Eraser tool and a soft brush.
This method of course can be used to copy eyes between pictures. In this case resizing of the eye layer might be needed.
Also it works well for things like camera flash on just one of the subject's eyeglass lens. -
IPhone 4s process called "Music~iphone" ??anyone, anyone??
I have an iPhone 4s 32gb running IOS 5.1.1 (not jailbroken) - I have noticed a running process called "Music~iphone". Does anyone know what this is?
Your question leads to a really interesting fact: The process "Music~iphone" isn't started only if you hear music – it's started, too if you make a search with Google app or any other Google app like Maps – even if you've never heard any music !! And it won't be killed in the background. So whenever you're searching for something with Google (app) or any other Google app like Maps there starts this process in the background until it's actively killed or your iPhone ist rebooted – and it uses your resources. This is consistently reproducable on all my iPhones – and different iOS versions. I don't like that at all and will investigate further…

RajeshPSHi All
any good way to find out which process is running on
which CPU, how long it took, how many threads it has
forked, which thread went to which CPU, etc. .Because the scheduler moves threads from CPU to CPU all the time, that would be a lot of information to store. I don't know any easy way to gather it.
Under Solaris 10, you could write a dtrace script that noted every time one of the processes thread was enqueued or dequeued on a cpu and post-process that.
That's probably the best way.

How to interrupt an funtion call and continue the followed code?
for example, the code:
public class A{
public static void main(String[] args){
int i = 0;
method1();
system.out.println("exit");
public void method1(){
int j = 0;
while(true){
j +=1;
there is a error in method1(), so the call the method1( ) in main() will make an error.
how can i interrupt this funtion call and continue the followed code?in actually, I can not control the method1(), that's
an remote object function.
So I can not add exception in methoes().Then in your main method catch whatever "Error" your method1 is throwing. -
Why must I turn off wifi calling for continuity to work?
I find it extremely frustrating that I have to choose between either the continuity features (dialing/receiving calls from iPad/mac, handoff) and WiFi calling on Tmobile. Both were features that were advertised heavily, while there was no mention that they wouldnt work together. Besides- wouldnt it be easier to handoff calls if they are over WiFi and there is no cell network involved?
*rantI also want to use WiFi calling because the T-Mobile signal in my home area isn't strong. I also really like the Continuity feature that lets me leave my phone "wherever" in the house and catch or make calls from either my iMac, MacBook Pro or iPad (which are typically in different rooms) when the phone isn't at hand.
Not being able to use WiFi Calling and Continuity at the same time is indeed both disappointing and frustrating.
It makes little sense without at least Apple saying why this can't happen simultaneously. Which protocol is being used to "transmit" calls between the iPhone and other devices?
It doesn't make sense when I try to imagine any kind of conflict, since my iPhone is great at using Bluetooth, Cellular and WiFi all at the same time (I can browse the internet using Safari, while on a cellular call via a bluetooth headset). Hopefully it's just a software thing that hasn't been programmed in yet, and will appear with a future update? One can hope!
[EDIT] PS: It may also have something to do with T-Mobile, since they are still the only ones directly supporting the feature... I'm investigating... -
WMI Process Call Create gives good feedback but doesn't work
I'm developing a VB.NET application able to control remotely other computers, send commands and retrieve information
Here's the code:
Dim connOptions As ConnectionOptions = New ConnectionOptions()
connOptions.Impersonation = System.Management.ImpersonationLevel.Impersonate
connOptions.Authentication = System.Management.AuthenticationLevel.Packet
connOptions.EnablePrivileges = True
Dim theScope As ManagementScope = New ManagementScope("\\" & IPAddressTextBox.Text & "\root\cimv2", connOptions)
Dim theClass As New ManagementClass(theScope, New ManagementPath("Win32_Process"), New ObjectGetOptions())
Dim iPe As ManagementBaseObject = theClass.GetMethodParameters("Create")
iPe("CommandLine") = CommandLineTextBox.Text
theClass.InvokeMethod("Create", iPe, Nothing)
The problem is that even if it gives a "0" ReturnValue, which means the operation is successful, the process doesn't actually starts on the remote machine (which is in the local network)
In reality, the process actually starts but doesn't show up, in the Task Manager of the remote machine, is visible ONLY under "Processes" -> "Show processes from all users", at this point, i can see the process i created from the other
main machine, the process "User Name" is the main computer username, and not the remote machine one, is that the problem?
I'm using Impersonate as the impersonation level and Packet as the Authentication level (as you can see from the code), is this what i'm doing wrong?
also it doesn't work with WMIC with "wmic /NODE:IPADDRESS process call create COMMANDLINE"
Thanks you for your time.
It doesn't matter whether you use VB, VBScript, or PowerShell. If you use any of these languages to create a process on a remote machine using WMI, the new process is always going to run in the background. You cannot make it run as a visible process. This
is by design and is explicitly stated in the Remarks section of the method's documentation:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa389388.aspx
For security reasons the Win32_Process.Create method cannot be used to start an interactive process remotely.

Can a page On Load process call Javascript API?
I am trying to use $s_Hide for some page items when the page loads. Can an 'On Load' page process call $s_Hide API? if yes, share code example please?! If not, what is the right way to accomplish it?
Thanks,
Yivon, Newbie in JAVANormaly, you can put this script into the region footer. However, you can wrap it into a PL/SQL block like in this example:

When I do call using Continuity on my MAC I get a noise
When I do call using Continuity on my mac time from time it begins to crack and buzz. It does not when I use headset.
Please help with that and to ascertain the nature of the problem. I have been playing around with volume settings it has not helped a lot. Sometimes after the restart, it does not buzz, neither crack. Next time it doesHi
Go into iMessage preferences, and then accounts and add your Apple ID email address into both your phone and your Mac. This should then sync them all up.
Hope this helps
