A program online I need to use doesn't support firefox 3.0, so I need to install either 1.5 or 2.0. Can I install older versions?

The Online Student Center for Princeton Review to be able to take practice tests doesn't currently support firefox 3.0, it says I need to either use Internet Explorer or Firefox 1.5 or 2. I have a mac, so I do not want to install IE.

They are insane if they require you to go back to a browser from 2006-2008. That's going to expose you to major security problems. Perhaps you should demand your money back!
Do you know whether you can install two Firefox versions on Mac and only use the old one for Princeton while still using a new version for everything else? Hopefully someone can chime in on that.
You would get the old version here: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/en-US/
IMPORTANT: Before installing an old version, make sure to back up your profile folder. Newer profile folders are very incompatible with old versions of Firefox and you could corrupt your bookmarks, etc. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

  • Need to install older version of Quick TIme

I have an iMac running 10.6.7. I want to run a program (Kids Pix) that has components that are not compatible with the newer versions of Quick Time. If I, as Broderbund suggested, install the older version will that 1. override my new version? 2. cause the new version not to work properly or not to be the default version?

BTW, you posted in the QuickTime for Windows forum. Normally you'll get the quickest and more applicable responses if you ask in the QuickTime for Mac forum.
    Regards.

Upgraded to LR5.7 and PS Elements 13.  Using a Solid State Drive which is becoming Full! Can I remove older versions of these programs without affecting the functionality of the new programs?

Yes, there is no need to keep previous versions of software on the SSD (or on your computer).
Also, you didn't mention this but if the photos are on the SSD, you should move them off the SSD to a regular hard disk using these instructions: Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders

  • My internet banking doesn't support Firefox 4. How can I go back to 3.5 on my Mac?

My bank will not let me access my online banking because it says it doesn't support Firefox 4.
I need to go back to Firefox 3.5. I am using Mac OS 10.6.7
Obviously I can't send you my bank login page, but this is the page I get redirected to.

Doesn't your bank support Firefox 3.6.x versions?
Firefox 3.6.x (Mac OS X 10.4 and later) can be found here:

  • My operating system doesn't support Firefox 4.0, why don't you post system requirements when sending out new versions? Or don't you care about those of us that can't afford new technologies?

I was prompted to download Firefox 4.0 and when I did and tried to open it I got an error message saying "You cannot open this application "Firefox" beacause it is not supported on this system. I have an older version of Mac OS X, 10.4.11, so I'm guessing that is the problem. Please direct me to where I can download an older version of Firefox that my system can support and next time please include system requirements with your update prompts.

Thank you for posting that link the-edmiester. I have already re-downloaded firefox 3.6.16 but will give tenfourfox a try. However, not to point the finger at you edmiester, my original question has still not been answered. Is it too much to ask for system requirements when I am prompted to download a new version of Firefox? I realize my computer is out of date and the longer I have it the less I'll be able to use it in this brave new internet world and I don't expect Mozilla to continually pander to me and others like me by keeping there web browsers compatible with older machines but I am fine with using older versions of Firefox. 3.6 works fine and when I saw that there was an update I thought "cool a newer version that would logically work better and faster than the one I was using" but that was clearly not the case. Like Redbeard I was forced to find an older version, re-download and re-install. Luckily I still had Safari, I shutter to think what would have happened if I had deleted it. As well, like Redbeard, this totally undermines my confidence in Firefox and I would hope that Mozilla cares enough about their users, you know the ones that create the need for their jobs, to at least address things like this in a timely respectful fashion.

  • MAC OSX 10.4.11 I finally succumbed to the constant irritating messages telling me that I didn't have the latest version. My old version and all my bookmarks have been deleted my Mac says it doesn't support Firefox! How can I recuperate my old settings?

MAC OSX 10.4.11 I succumbed to the constant messages telling me that I didn't have the latest version, despite being happy with the one I had. My old version and all my bookmarks have been deleted and now my Mac says it doesn't support Firefox!!!!! How can I recuperate my old settings? in English

Firefox 4 versions and later '''do not run on a PowerPC Mac''' (like yours) and require '''at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac'''.
The latest supported version for your os is '''3.6.27''' , you can download it from:
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    1. Download a 3.6.27 copy of the Firefox from the above link
    2. Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install.
    3. Install the new version that you have downloaded(3.6.27)
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder], so probably you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data, if you don't already ''totally'' uninstall firefox(user data and settings like bookmarks, extensions, etc. located here: ~Library/Application Support/Firefox so you must uninstall it separately, to totally uninstall firefox).

  • I need to reload Firefox V5 on my computer because the online school I am attending will not support Firefox V7. Help!

I received the following message AFTER Firefox had been upgraded on my computer: ''There are known issues with Firefox 7 and Course mail. It is recommended that you do not upgrade to Firefox 7 at this time.'' It is true...there are problems! I want to reload the early version of Firefox and could not find that available on the website. Help please.

You need "sysinternal's process explorer", it is free and can replace the Microsoft process explorer, that you get by "CTRL+ALT+DELETE". Either program will allow you to kill the instances of FF that didn't die as they should have, when you closed them. Sysinternal is easier to use, it is a graphic display with many options. Do not push "CTRL+ALT+DELETE" twice unless you want to reboot, that is its default behaviour under Microsoft.

  • I created a new account/profile on my Mac OS X (10.4.11) and tried to download Firefox, which I am already using on my existing account/profile, and was told that my system doesn't support Firefox; what's this all about?

I would like to be able to use Firefox on the new account/profile I have created and don't know why my system will support it on this account/profile but not the new one.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

  • I suddenly can't get any of the websites I use each day on Firefox to load. I tried clearing the cache. No difference. How can i fix?

I use Firefox daily to access many sites. Yesterday it worked perfectly. Today it won't work at all. I just keep getting "Unable to Connect" message when I try to load the sites -- and sites work on other programs (though I need to use firefox to do certain things on some of them...) so it isn't an internet access problem. I've read the help articles and they don't help at all. I tried clearing the cache; it makes no difference. I tried checking that no proxy is highlighted under the advanced access settings. It is, and reviewing that makes no difference. I tried looking to see if Firefox is allowed to access the web thru my windows computer -- but I cant tell what program it would need to connect. And I haven't changed my settings since yesterday -- when it worked perfectly (or seemed to). So that shouldn't be the problem.
Ive wasted most of the morning fighting with this. What the hell is going on here and how can I fix it?

hello, normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions - firefox 23 was released yesterday: [[Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox]]
