A query about blackberry protect... Help..

i'm the die hard fan of blackberry. Recently i have changed from os 7 to os 10. And i have a query about blackberry protect i.e. for suppose if I lost device, I find a bunch of options in blackberry protect website like lock device, wipe device and locations etc. If somebody steals my blackberry and wipe the device and login with new id and password on blackberry.. Do I have that option still to get access on my lost device? Im so confused how this blackberry protect would work. And freshly some vunarabilty found in high end manufactured phone, beacuse of this type of security app... So, this problem bugs me a lot...  And your valuable relplies always be accepted... @levelup

As soon as your device is wiped, Protect is gone. I suggest you lock your device with a password. That way, if you lose your phone you'll have time to wipe it remotely or locate it before anyone can access your phone and wipe it. Protect is a great app but your phone must be turned on and connected to a wireless network and signed in with your BB ID in order to work.
I hope that helps you.

  • Help with Blackberry Protects

My phone fell into water and is destroyed. i have a extra temporary blackberry tour to use. i have saved my data daily by blackberry protects. my problem i sthat my blackberry does not connect to the internet. if i have my contacts on the BB Protects, can i transfer it to my blackberry desktop messinger????????????

    Hello,
    1) NO : as far as I know, to use BlackBerry Protect, you need a data plan, so I do not think that using WiFi or USB can work.
    2) if you have made a backup of your device using Desktop Software, you can use that backup to restore to your temp Tour.

  • Z 10 : BlackBerry Protect Device Connection

My device does not appear in my BlackBerry Protect account, all it says is
And as some of us may know that BlackBerry Protect is initially installed on BlackBerry Z 10, so It's not download-able or available on BlackBerry AppWorld, and my account is confirmed and verified, and on the same wireless network, and yes BlackBerry Protect is activated on my device (Z 10).
I tried rebooting my device, turning off and on BlackBerry Protect, changing my password, nothing seems to work.
My BlackBerry Protect account doesn't seem to recognize my device (Z 10)
If you have encountered this and solved before, please do share.

    Hey xSolitary,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
What version of BlackBerry 10 software are you running? Go to Settings>About to find this information.
Also are you logged into BlackBerry Protect with the same BlackBerry ID?  Also are you connected via Wi-Fi?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • REMOTE BACKUP & RESTORE on BlackBerry Protect for BB10 operating system ?

Does anyone at BlackBerry or anywhere else know if BlackBerry will introduce for the BlackBerry Protect on the operating 10 system, the >
REMOTE BACKUP & RESTORE feature as is available on the BlackBerry Protect on the
    operating 7 system ?
This is a vital secure cloud backup to the BlackBerry servers and was used by millions of BlackBerry customers on the BlackBerry Protect on the BlackBerry operating 7 system, but it was not included by BlackBerry on the BlackBerry Protect on the operating 10 system.
This is vital and needed most urgently so we can do secure and reliable cloud Backups and Restores from our BlackBerry 10 devices to the secure BlackBerry cloud servers.
All other third party applications to download and use as an alternative, simply do not work and are not stable or reliable or safe or secure.
This was the only totally safe and reliable and secure cloud Backup and Restore and BlackBerry must bring this feature back as either an update or as a new download, but it must be introduced in to the operating 10 software.
Please can anyone at BlackBerry or anywhere else tell me if it will be on the operating 10 software in the near future ?
Also BlackBerry must bring the ( SELECT ALL ) feature to its operating 10 software.
This was a vital feature on the operating 7 software that has also been left out.
This feature is vital when wanting to delete or transfer ALL files in a stored location on the phone or SD card.
If you have for example 100 songs or pictures or documents saved and you want to delete all in one hit, then you would just go in to that folder, for example, just the picture folder if you want to delete all pictures and then you would press >
( SELECT ALL ) and all the contents of that folder you selected would be deleted, in the same way, you can also click on > ( SELECT ALL ) on the contents of that folder to transfer those contents in one hit using Bluetooth to another mobile device or computer.
At this moment when you use a BlackBerry 10 device, this feature is not there and you need to go in to that folder and manually select each and every item that you want to delete or transfer, one item at a time, which is very time consuming and frustrating.
Does anyone at BlackBerry know if this >
( SELECT ALL ) feature will be available for the BlackBerry 10 operating system in the near future in a software update ?
    Can anyone please help ?
Any information on my above two issues ?

I know BlackBerry is working on their cloud service but no word on when or just what they will offer in the future.
As for "select all" that would be nice but haven't heard anything about it coming. It's not in 10.3.1.

  • How to restore my data from the blackberry protect back up archive

Hi, my phone recently crashed, so I reloaded my OS & tried restoring my data from the blackberry protect app but noticed I could only restore from my last backup. I'd like to restore from another backup point in my archive & not my last. How do I go about it?

Only backups which are displayed can be restored to your phone. If you don't see any older ones, something might have gone wrong with the backups being loaded to the site. Perhaps you have an older backup done with BlackBerry Desktop Software which you could reload?
    Cheers.

  • Is the Blackberry Protect Web Site Broken???

I get the same error no matter what machine or browser I use. Is anyone else having this issue???
    An Error Occurred:
Image pointed to must exist (input stream must not be null)
+ Stack Trace + Component Tree + Scoped Variables

Yes, some others are having the same issue, I've seen 3-4 posts about it.
What you need to do is to call your mobile network provider and ask them to escalate this issue to RIM level tech support. Explain the issue and tell them someone here in the forums ask you do to this.

  • BlackBerry Protect - Map language

Hi - this is just a quick note
I'm in the UK - but when I search for my phone, the Bing map that is used is in another language - Portugese, I think!!
It's not a big thing - my location is correct; but just bewildered as to why this might be.
Also - does Protect need to be running, or will the backup happen anyway.  Might be a strange question, but obviously, if its running in the background, then that adds extra strain on the battery.
Thanks in advance for any help / suggestions.

I can't answer the question about the Portuguese language, I wonder if Bing! (whose mapping is used for the service) thinks you are in Portugal?
Protect runs once you've installed and signed into it, even after a device reboot, and no it doesn't use much battery at all except for the 60-90 seconds daily in which the backup occurs. Unless you are constantly checking it's GPS location (which pushes a GPS refresh command to the handheld). If you're doing that, it could cause battery drain.

  • Blackberry Protect - The BlackBerry ID service is temporarily unavailable

what can i do about this problem :s it works fine for everyone else

Ok, just a minute ago I was having the same problems and noone seemed to have the fix yet... So, I decided to call my carrier (T-mobile) and spoke with tech support. I specifically asked for a Blackberry Expert (believe me, the other tech support people I spoke with just kept telling me to turn my BB on and off and also made me do a complete wipe which did not fix it). What seemed to be the problem was that my blackberry was set on "voice only" on their Blackberry tool. She then changed it to "data and voice" and made me do another reset. Right after that, it fix all the internet problems I had been having with my Blackberry, I was able to log in to my Blackberry Protect and backup right away and I was also able to add an e-mail account to my blackberry phone. Hope this helps!

  • Blackberry Protect function after SIM change

I have just got a new PAYG SIM card for my Betterware and put it in my BB Torch.
I got a message from BB Protect that the SIM had been changed, which made me think about what if the phone had been stolen and SIM changed.
I tried the loud ring, the locator and the message facilities from the Protect website - all of which stuck at "waiting for device to respond".
Does this mean that if the phone is stolen and the SIM changed then BB Protect in effect ceases to be useful?
Let's be honest, if the phone were stolen then a new SIM is likely....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, by changing the SIM card you've disconnected the device from your BIS account and disconnected it from access to you.
Somethings cannot be prevented, just like you can't prevent the thief from stomping on the device and crushing it. No software will 'disable' that.

    Hello Oct_12_1994
    Welcome to http://supportforums.blackberry.com
I tried to restart the Blackberry to see if the changes take effect
And images can run the application without any problem.
If your problem evidences the persistence applies a hard reset
While pressing the volume button with more and less power button for 30seconds.

  • BlackBerry Protect doesn't show my phone

Hello, I am trying to set BlackBerry Protect for my Z10. I can enable it on my phone side. However, on the web side, it always says: "A device isn’t associated with BlackBerry Protect." and I cannot use all the protect functions shown on  the web. I confirmed that my wireless network, location service and BlackBerry ID work well. I tried to disable/enable BlackBerry Protect for many times, and reboot the phone many times. I waited about 1 week, but I still cannot make BlackBerry Protect work on the web side. My OS version is 10.3.2.440. My phone is an AT&T version Z10 brought directly from AT&T in USA. The Support Information on the BlackBerry Protect web shows: BlackBerry Account Email:(my BlackBerry ID)Web Portal Version:1.2.1.93 - scm-1.2.1.93Server Name:kronos.bbprotect.us.blackberry.comProtected Devices:Model Client ID PIN default-1----------  Please help me to solve the issue. Thanks!

OK, I want you to do a couple things, EVEN if you have done these before, try in this order. try this,at Settings > BlackBerry Protect, turn off Protect. Leave it off.Restart: Leaving the Z10 powered on, remove the battery for five minutes and then reinsert to reboot. Give it 2-3 minutes after rebooting for all data syncing to subside, and then,Now, turn on Protect again and after some time see if Protect is working yet.ALSO, have you connected your BlackBerry to your PC with the Link software? If not, please download and do so, making sure you enter your BBID as required in Link.BlackBerry Link for PCSync to your PC with BlackBerry Link, with support for Windows Media Player and iTunes.See system requirementsDownload for PC
