A question about Bar Colors in SSRS Bar Chart

I have a chart in a report that has 27 categories, and no series. The categories all display properly with the correct results, so the chart is informationally (not sure that's a word) correct but all the bars are the same color. If I try to ass a series, each bar shows up as a different color but now each category has 27 bars in it (actually, it has one really thin bar and room for 26 more that are not showing.)
So, my question is, can I have the colors of the individual bars be different for each category without having to use a series? I know I can use a SWITCH Statement and assign a different color to each value, but that isn't a viable solution as the categories could change and new ones could show up later.
Oh, in case the information is relevant: I am building the report in Visual Studio 2008.

Hi Lesea, Virtex4 is not supported by Soft Error Mitigation (SEM) Core, and I need to protect the Virtex4 LX25 FPGA by simple scrubbing. The configuration management engine I designed is the same as that in Correcting Single-Event Upsets in Virtex-4 FPGA Configuration Memory. I also do the fault injection experiment, and the configuration management engine can correct the faults in the Virtex4 LX25 FPGA.
On my board: digital signal A---->encode---->D/A---->A/D---->decode---->digital signal B
When I don't scrubbing the FPGA, the signal B is always the same as the signal A, so I think my board and the software in the FPGA operate well. When I scrubbing the FPGA too frequently, the signal B is not always the same as signal A(I only scrubbing the DSP, IOB, CLK, and CLB logic and I shield the LUT RAM and SRL16 logic). So I think the problem is caused by my configuration management engine.
I also find that the time between two scrubbing process can not be too short. For instance, if I delay only several clks(2.3825MHz) before the next scrubbing process, the signal B is not always the same as the signal A. But if I delay 0.1s, 1s or 10s before the next scrubbing process, the signal B is always the same as the signal A. So how can I solve the problem? I can do experiment to find the minimal time between the two scrubbing process that have no influence on my software. I want to know what causes this problem. Thank you:)

  • A few questions about Patone colors

    I have a few questions about patone colors since this is the first time I use them. I want to use them to create a letterhead and business cards in two colors.
    1)
    I do understand that the uncoated is more washed out than the coated patone colors. I heard that this is because the way paper absorbs the inkt. This is why the same inkt results in different colors on different paper (right?). My question is why is the patone uncoated black so much different than normal black (c=0 m=0 y=0 k=100) or rich black:
    When I print a normal document with cmyk, I can get pretty dark black colors. Why is it that I cannot have that dark black color with patone colors? Even text documents printed on a cheap printer can get a darker color than the Patone color. It just looks way too grey for me.
    2) For a first mockup, I want to print the patone colors as cmyk (since I put like 10 different colors on a page for fast comparison). I know that these cmyk colors differ from the patone colors and that I cannot get a 100% representation. But is there a way to convert patone to cmyk values?
    I hope that some of you can help me out with my questions.
    Thanks.

    You can get Pantone's CMYK tints in Illustrator, (Swatches Panel > Open Swatch Library > Color Books > PANTONE+ Color Bridge Coated or Uncoated) but in my view, what's the point?  If you're printing to a digital printer, just use RGB (HSB) or CMYK. Personally, I never use Pantone's CMYK so-called "equivalents."
    Pantone colors are all mixed pigmented inks, many of which fluoresce beyond the gamut limits of RGB and especially CMYK. The original Pantone Matching System (PMS) was created for the printing industry. It outlined pigmented ink formulations for each of its colors.
    Most digital printers (laser or inkjet) use CMYK. The CMYK color gamut is MUCH SMALLER than what many mixed inks, printed on either coated or uncoated papers can deliver. When you specify non-coated Pantone ink in AI, according to Pantone's conversion tables, AI tries to "approximate" what that color will look like on an uncoated sheet, using CMYK. -- In my opinion, this has little relevance to real-world conditions, and is to be avoided in most situations.
    If your project is going to be printed on a printing press with spot Pantone inks, then by all means, use Pantone colors. But don't trust the screen colors; rather get a Pantone swatch book and look at the actual inks on both coated and uncoated papers, according to the stock you will use on the press.
    With the printing industry rapidly dwindling in favor of the web and inkjet printers, Pantone has attempted to extend its relevance beyond the pull-date by publishing (in books and in software alliances, with such as Adobe) its old PMS inks, and their supposed LAB and CMYK equivalents. I say "supposed" because again, RGB monitors and CMYK inks can never be literally equivalent to many Pantone inks. But if you're going to print your project on a printing press, Pantone inks are still very relevant as "spot colors."
    I also set my AI Preferences > Appearance of Black to both Display All Blacks Accurately, and Output All Blacks Accurately. The only exception to this might be when printing on a digital printer, where there should be no registration issues.
    Rich black in AI is a screen phenomenon, unless in Prefs > Appearance of Black, you also specify "Output All Inks As Rich Black," -- something I would NEVER do if outputting for an actual printing press. I always set my blacks in AI to "Output All Blacks Acurately" when outputting for a press. If you fail to do this, then on the press you will see any minor registration problems, with C, M, and Y peeking out, especially around black type.  UGH!
    Good luck!  :+)

  • Question about background colors

    Greetings folks,
    I have a question about background colors using a DW template in CS4.The page in question is here: http://www.webrevamps.com/dw/assignment11.html
    On the left nav, I want the background color to extend throughout the entire sidebar. Not just where the text is. What am I doing wrong?
    And actually the same question applies to the main content area.
    Secondly, behind the graphic where the header is.... in DW it shows as a black background covering the entire header area, but that is not the way it looks when posted online. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    On the left nav, I want the background color to extend throughout the entire sidebar. Not just where the text is. What am I doing wrong?
    Nothing.  THis question is asked and answered several times a day.  Google "faux columns" to see a slick way to make it look like you have fixed this.
    Secondly, behind the graphic where the header is.... in DW it shows as a black background covering the entire header area, but that is not the way it looks when posted online. What am I doing wrong?
    No idea.  It looks exactly the same to me in CS5, nor do I see any reason why it wouldn't look the same in CS4.

  • Question about painting colors

    I cut an object out of the background of a photo and would like to paint a color to match green grass where the object was cut out. On the color spectrum I can only find garish colors and a very limited range. Is there a fix for this?  Thanks for any advice!

    Activate the Eyedropper tool and click on the grass. This sets the Foreground color swatch (bottom of the Toobar) to that color. Activate the Brush tool and paint away.
    Note: on the tools option bar for the Eyedropper, you an specify a sample size; in my PSE version the options are point sample, 3x3 px average, 5x5 px average. Since the grass is probably not a uniform shade of green you might want to use one of the averages.

  • Question about custom color swatches in Photoshop CS4 Mac

    Hello.
    I have about fifty or so custom color swatches and wanted to back them up.  Where are they located in Photoshop CS4 for Mac?
    Thank you.

    They would be stored where you saved them to.
    If you have never had the foresight to save them (Edit > Preset Manager) they would only be in the Preferences (»Swatches.psp«), I guess.

  • A general question about JPGs, color profiles and the web.

    (Didn't get much help in the PS forum, so I'm gonna try this here.)
    I save a website background image  in Photoshop with its color profile (in this instance, Adobe RGB 1998).
    When I view the image in IE  (latest), it looks the same as it did in PS.
    When I view it in Firefox  (latest), it comes out darker.
    I'm guessing this has something to do with  one of the two browsers taking the color profile into account, and the  other not.
    What  is everyone's solution to this problem? Should I not be including color  profiles with my JPGs? And if that isn't the problem (ie, I should keep  doing it), which is the color profile I should be using in RGB?
    I keep  hopping between Adobe RGB (1998) and sRGB 2.1 and can't decide which one  to adopt once and for all.
    Thanks.

    You are correct. The colors differ from IE to FF because FF and Safari use the color profiles found in your images.
    You might like the discussion found on Usability Post: http://www.usabilitypost.com/2008/07/30/photoshop-color-profiles-for-web-images/
    I've been using sRGB 2.1 for a few years and have had no major issues with it.

  • How to allow custom colors to SSRS Pie-Chart?

    Hi,
     I have a pie-chart in my report.
    Can anybody please tell me How I can allow custom color to each part/slice of the piechart..??or How i can assign cutom pallete to pie-chart?
    BhushanBhushan

    Hi,
    I think u r using one data Field and One category Field in the Graph.
    Then We have use Code Option
    -----Add this in Code
    Private colorPalette As String() = { "Teal", "Gold", "Aqua"}
       Private count As Integer = 0
     Private mapping As New System.Collections.Hashtable()
      Public Function GetColor(ByVal groupingValue As String) As String
            If mapping.ContainsKey(groupingValue) Then
                Return mapping(groupingValue)
            End If
            Dim c As String = colorPalette(count Mod colorPalette.Length)
            count = count + 1
            mapping.Add(groupingValue, c)
            Return c
        End Function
    Finally add this Expression in the Fill Option. And we can add more colors in the Code based on no. of Category
    =Code.GetColor(Category_Field)
     for example =Code.GetColor(Fields!Zone.Value)
    Regards,

    I've done everything listed here and in the link provided, but I get an error that reads, "There is an error on line 0 of custom code: [BC30201] Expression expected." I'm using SSRS 2005.
    Does anyone know what this could be?

  • Question about the ability of Genius Bar to help with outside software...

    Hi I wasn't sure where to put this, but here's my question. I'm having a problem with the Sims 2 on my Macbook and I was wondering if I go to the Genius Bar will they be able to help me or are they strictly hands off when it's not a direct Apple product?
    Also, I bought an external hard drive in the Apple Store but it's not an Apple branded product. If I'm having a problem with that, can I go to the Apple Store?

    If it's a question about the installation, system requirements or compatibility with your MacBook, the Mac Genius can probably help. If you're having some kind of issue while using the Sims 2, you'll probably have to contact .
    The same is true with the hard drive. If you need some help getting it connected or even formatted, they can probably help. However, if it's not powering up or you're losing files or some kind of operational issue with the hard drive after it's connected, they'll probably refer you to the manufacturer.
    Usually Apple can't support other vendors' products. Someone here may be able to give you some more advice, since none of us work for Apple. There may be someone here who's already had the same issue with the Sims.

  • SSRS- Drill down to sub report of a bar chart on click on a particular color of the bar

    Hi,
    I have a bar chart which can have many colors on each bar, Now if i click on a bar, i am getting all the data related to that particular bar. Is it possible to click only on a particular color and get related data instead of whole bar?
    To be more precise, in the below image if i click on 16/6/2013 bar, i am getting all the data related to the bar, but is it possible to click on red  and green colors of the bar separately and  get the relevant data? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Kruthi Hegde

    Hi Kruthi,
    In your case, you can use “Go to report” property to solve the issue.
    Suppose we have a dataset (DataSet1) in main report and subreport with following fields: Months, DateTime, Amount. We can according to Months and DateTime fields to display the subreport. Please refer to the steps below:
    Subrepot:
    Add dataset (DataSet2) in the report with Months field.
    Add dataset (DataSet3) in the report with DateTime field.
    Add two parameters in the report. Please refer to the following Available Values:
    Months:
    Dataset:  DataSet2
    Value field: Months
    Label field: Months
    DateTime:
    Dataset:  DataSet2
    Value field: DateTime
    Label field: DateTime
    Add filters in the tablix.
    Main report:
    Right click the bar chart, select Series Properties.
    Click Action in the left pane, select “Go to report” option.
    Specify the corresponding report.
    Click Add icon to add parameters to run the report:
    Name: Months    Value: [Months]
    Name: DateTime    Value: [DateTime]
    (Note: If we want subreport display these data which is only relevant with color, we can delete DataTime parameter in the report.)
    If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.

  • How to change the bar chart rendering image format in SSRS

    Hello all,
    I am working with SQL Server 2008 R2 and I have a SSRS bar chart report, when the report got rendered over online or if the take Export (PDF and PPT), the image is in png format always, which is taking too much of time to execute the report in case of large
    data.
    Can, It be possible that the rendered image is in jpeg format instead of png.
    If Yes, please share the appropriate steps to follow:
    Thanks in advance
    Pankaj Kumar Yadav-

    Hi Pankaj067,
    According to your description, you want to change the bar chart rendering image format as JPEG format when previewing the report or exporting to a PDF file .
    In Reporting Services, the chart rendering image format is PNG by default. It’s a by-design behavior. And it doesn’t open any API for us to change the image type when exporting a chart to a format. So in your scenario, your requirement can’t be achieved
    in Reporting Services currently. I would recommend you submit a feature request to Microsoft at this site:
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer. So that we can try to modify and expand the product features based on your needs.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

    Hello,
    I need your help to draw a cumulative line graph over this bar chart.
    I need your help to draw a cumulative line graph over this bar chart in SSRS.
    The dimension (Category Group) is "Hour" in this case. and expression is sum of two distinct values like 'Y' and 'N' in Activity column(Series Groups). The sum(Activity=Y) in green color and sum(Activity='N') in Red color.
    I require to draw a cumulative line graph in this same chart, that should give the result of cumulative Sum(Activity) for each hour?? I mean sum of (Y+N) for each hour and that should be cumulative over the hour.

  • Can you change color of bars in bar chart?

    I have made a chart by using the spreadsheet and converting my data to a bar chart. I would like to change the default colors of the bars in the chart but so far haven't figured out how to do it, if indeed it is possible. Is it? If so, how should I go about it? I have been able to change the labels for the bars, but I want to change the colors of the bars themselves. Also, is it possible to change the arrows in the pictogram graph to some other clipart that might better represent the thing I am graphing?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   AppleWorks 6.2.9

    "I tried what you suggested, but it didn't work. When I click on the color square in the legend, a small circle appears in the square, but I am unable to select any of the paint tools. ... (Likewise, when I open the Modify dialogue and try to select the color in the sample box there, AppleWorks won't let me change it."
    Paint tools won't work, as the bars are Draw objects, and you have only limited control over them while the chart is still connected to the spreadsheet. Click on the colour square in the Legend. The white dot indicates it's selected.
    Now click on the Fill formatting button in the bottom section of the Tools (It's the almost invisible plain white button in the stack of three. The other two are the Pen formatting button—which has a black outline—and the Text formatting button—which has a T.). Then choose a colour from the Colors palette in the stack to the right of the three buttons.
    "Similarly, when I open the Modify dialogue and try to delete the arrow symbol in the sample box, it won't go anywhere; I just get an alert sound and nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?"
    Should work like this:
    Double click the chart.
    In the Modify dialogue, click Series.
    In the Series dialogue, click the Sample box. A black outline should appear around the box, indicating it is selected.
    Press Delete to delete the current image. You should then see only the background colour.
    Press command-V to Paste your image.
    Uncheck Repeating to get a single copy of the image, stretched to fill the bar.
    Check Repeat to get a fixed size image that repeats to fill the bar.
    Set the overlap percentage if you want the repeating image to overlap.
    Click OK to return to the chart and view the results.

  • Question regarding 3-D stacked bar chart

    Hi All,
    I'm creating a report that has a view of a horizontal stacked bar chart. I was wondering if there's a way to portray that stacked bar chart as a 100% stacked bar chart like in ms excel?
    Thanks,
    Wayne

    Hi Wayne,
    I'm not sure if I understand your query correctly but I'll have a go at answering your question. I'm guessing that you have a horizontal bar chart that looks something like this, even after you've indicated that you want it to be a stacked chart -:
    |{color:#ff0000}@@@{color}
    |{color:#008000}#########{color}
    |{color:#ff00ff}++{color}
    |{color:#0000ff}===={color}
    However, you want it to look more like this -:
    |{color:#ff0000}@@@{color}{color:#008000}#########{color}{color:#ff00ff}++{color}{color:#0000ff}===={color}
    For the purposes of the example, let's assume you are using two fields for the bar chart - Account Type and *# of Accounts*. By default, your chart options would be set such that Account Type is the value used for the Y axis and *# of Accounts* is the value used for the X axis. Indicating that you want a stacked graph results in the first graph example I listed above. However, if you indicate that Account Type is the value to be used for the measure labels and that there is no value for the Y axis, then a stacked graph will look like the second graph example I listed.
    Hope this helps to answer your question.
    Regards,
    Cameron

  • Bar Chart colors

    Hi gang,
    I'm trying to use patterns on my bar chart.
    For example: One bar would have zig-zags, another would have vertical lines, another would have horizontal line and so on. What type of functionality do I have with formatting these graphs.
    Edited by: Mr. Okelly on Sep 16, 2010 11:20 AM

    You may be able to replicate patterns by using a picture as your fill image in the bar chart. Try experimenting with code like:
    <SeriesItems>
    <Series id="0" color="#000000">
    <SFX fillType="FT_TEXTURE" textureURL="file:d:\temp\house1.gif" textureDisplayMode="TDM_STRETCHED"/>
    </Series>
    (taken from http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2009/01/shape_charts.html )
    Change the "textureURL" to point to a picture of your texture and you should be good.
    For more information you can look in the Graph DTD about SFX fill types: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/reports/graph-dtd-technote-2-094743.html#Special_effect_element .
    Hope this helps.
