A question about syncing

Was told to buy my apps on my computer, but now I do not know how to get them to "sync"to my phone. Can someone help me with that?

Sounds like you need to look at the manual:
iPhone User Guide (For iOS 4.2 and 4.3 Software)
Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want to sync, sync.

  • Few questions about syncing

    Hi,
I have a few questions about syncing. Since this is my first iphone and apple product, I'm not familliar with it. My mother bought the tomtom app for navigation. And she said that it has 3 uses (for 3 different devices). Now the app is in her library on her computer. So if i try to sync with her library, it will erase all my previous apps. How come? Also I'm planning to use a laptop in college so I'll have to sync it with that.
What should I do to keep my apps?

All 3rd party apps - paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account used to download the app. This is required by 3rd party app developers to prevent people from stealing from them with paid apps. If not for this, you could pay for and download the TomTom app which is not cheap and all your friends and family members with an iPhone could install the app on their iPhone without paying for it, which in effect is stealing.
There is no device limit for the number of iPods and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library on the same computer, but in regards to all iTunes content - music, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.

  • Question about syncing multiple ipods to one iTunes library

I have an iPod touch (2nd gen Ver 3.1.3) that I sync to my computer. My daughter recently got an iPod touch (2nd gen Ver 4.0) that was under her father's account. I reset her iPod in order to put it under my iTunes store account. Next I synced her iPod with my computer adding only the items she wanted (games mostly and a few songs).
iTunes didn't seem to have a problem with our devices being different versions. So far so good. I have only synced her device once and haven't synced mine since. We have both purchased apps straight to our iPods and they aren't backed up.
    My questions are:
    1. Before syncing, will I have to go check everything I want every time in iTunes?
    2. We use some of the same apps and games. Will the game data and/or app data be written by another players data? Can you tell I'm really just concerned about my TapFish score?
I'm holding off on syncing until I know the answers.

well, it would be better to keep everything checked in your library and instead create separate playlists for each mobile device.

you can use as many mobile devices as you want with a single iTunes library. iTunes treats each device separately.
i have two Nano's, an iPod Touch, and an iPad syncing with the same library.

  • Question about syncing two different iPads on 1 iMac?

Hey all, I bought two iPad 2's today (both gifts, 1 for my mom and 1 for my dad). Bought it for them because they're probably too old at this stage for me to teach them to use a desktop efficiently. iPad is so easy for them to use the internet and listen to their music which is most important.
My question is, I don't have an iPad myself nor any iOS devices. Maybe I'll buy an ipad in a few months or so. However I do own the only computer in the house and that's my iMac. I was going to sync both my mom and dad's iPads to my Mac, and put their songs from my iTunes library on their iPads respectively. Will I incure any problems trying to do this?
I don't want my mom and dad's iPads to be identical and I want to sync different pictures and songs and stuff on their ipads. I want it to be their own individually.
What steps should I take to do this? I've never really synced any iOS products before but I pick up on this stuff pretty quickly. Made the transition from a Windows desktop to a Mac easily and would do it all over again!

  • Question about syncing albums

Is there a way to sync music to an ipod by albums? All I see is artist, playlist, and genre...but what about albums?

There is no option to check off the albums you want to sync. However, if certain albums are important, you can put them into a playlist and sync by playlist. Once they are on the iPod, you can ignore that playlist and access them by album name.

  • General question about syncing/photos

maybe this is the most ridiculous question i can ask, but i just can't grasp syncing photos.
say i have photos on my phone and photos in my iphotos and itunes is set up to sync photos with iphoto, will the photos on my phone just be added to my iphoto or will the iphone photo gallery be made to replicate my iphoto gallery?
i have lots of photos on my iphone i would love to separate into different galleries on my iphone.
i've also had an issue where lots of photos seem to have gone missing from my phone after syncing ant they are no where to be found...
i'm just generally not having a fun experience dealing with my photos on my iphone and through iphoto as i never feel like i have full control over where the files end up and how they are moved...

The photo sync process is ONE -WAY - computer to iphone. You go to the photo tab and select the folders/albums that you would like to sync. Those folders/album will be reflected on your iphone ( but in lower resolution) You cannot sync these photos back to your computer. The iphone is NOT a backup device.
Pics taken/saved with iphone ( Camera Roll) should be imported ( as you would import from any digital camera) to your computer regularly. You can then organize and sync them to iphone.

  • Questions about Syncing a Network Server

I have a Windows XP and of course an iMac G5. I have about 6 GB of pictures saved on the XP and I'm using the iMac as a backup, so all my photos dont get blown away when the XP acts like a Windows... you know what i mean... right?
I was wondering if there was a way that whenever a bulk of pictures is added to the XP, if there was a downloadable automator action from the downloads page here on apple.com or some third party software that would sync any added or changed pictures from the XP to the iMac for me every week or so, so that every time a bunch of pictures are added, I wont have to delete the current backed up pictures and copy the entire server over to the backup folder (thats the way I make sure that a picture doesnt get blown away during the process)
    Could anyone help me?

Sorry I don't know of any software that can do that, but to make things easier could you not create a weekly folder on your Windows machine (even name it ....week of Aug.14,2005) then just move/add that to your Imac backup folder. It would make it easier to find these pictures later also. Hope this helps and that maybe someone might suggest some software if it exists. Bob :~)

  • Question about syncing iPhone and Address book

I recently deleted some unwanted and outdated contact information from my address book on my computer. It synced correctly to my iPhone, but did not prompt me about the lost contact information. I also added one or two new contacts to my iPhone but when synced, it did not transfer these to the address book. Does one device take precedence over the other? Is there a way to set the preferences to prompt me before it deletes contacts from my iPhone? Thanks!

Ah, never mind. I'll give up on this thread and bug my IT guy instead.

  • Questions about syncing multiple MobileMe accounts on one iPad

You can set up multiple MobileMe accounts; however, only one MobileMe account at a time can be used for Find My iPad and for syncing contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and notes. (iPad User Guide p. 32)
    Okay.
If you've done this already (created multiple MobileMe accounts on your iPad), can you please tell me how syncing two accounts to one device works in practice?
What prevents the merging of contacts and calendars between two MobileMe accounts and one instance of the Calendar and Contacts apps?
As a matter of functionality, and assuming there is a way to avoid merging this information, how does one access separate calendars and contacts from separate MobileMe accounts in the Calendar and Contact apps?
    Thanks!

  • A lot of questions about sync

    Hello,
    1) First, I want to view the tab opened on my firefox for android with my firefox for PC, how do I do that ?
    ''Solved'' it's under 'history'.
    2) Then is there a limit to the number of tabs synchronized because I don't see all the tabs opened on my PC, on my android device ?
3)If I allow sync to automatically sync in by authorising 'auto sync' the data usage section of Android, is this also going to affect my other account like my google one ? (plus, 4) I cannot chose what to manually sync because it's greyed when this authorisation isn't done)
5)What happen when I check or uncheck one of the box in sync parameters ? what happen of the data on Mozilla servers ?
6)Are the synced item in the history or tabs displayed in any way for example with a little icon when for example using the awesome bar ?
Finally I thank you all in advance for your answers and I think Sync may need a little more extensive help section, doesn't you ?
PS: May be some of those are bugs that need to be fixes feel free to report to bugzilla or to suggest me to do it :)

    Thanks for your answers
    2) You mean by the resources of the pc running ? (it's how I know I have too much when Fx cannot start anymore despite I think it should handle a lot more tabs when they're unloaded) It's probably not the case :(
3)I tried and it work now :) , you were right but since all account I pre-checked for synchronizing as soon as you authorise automatic synchronisation they sync.
4)This was an usability problem when auto sync is not authorized you cant properly select the item you may wanna sync manually
    5) This is great :)
7)no it's not abc order, 'tabs as well' uh I doubt it you wouldn't want of browser which each time you click on a tab, move it to the top or the bottom of your tab list
8)So if I get it sync for the tabs is more POP than IMAP in the way that you cannot act on the data you're receiving it's just a copy :( That doesn't sound like real syncing to me.

  • Question about syncing albums with Facebook

I have Aperture set up so I can publish albums to my FB account.  However, everytime I open Aperture and it goes to sync with FaceBook, it copies all my photos I have on Facebook that I don't have in Aperture into my library.  For example, all the pictures in my Cover Photos album in FB get copied into my library.  Is there a way to prevent this from happening?  Is there a way to make Aperture not copy of sync with 1 particualer album on FB, or to make it so I can publish photos from Aperture to FB, but not have photos from FB get copied into Aperture?

Try unchecking the "Automatically check for newly published albums" setting in Preferences. In Aperture preferenced, click the Web pane and select the Facebook item in the Accounts list on the left first.

  • Quick question about syncing?

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie and just encountered a small problem. When I imported a CD to my iTunes library, then synced it to my iPod, it comes up on my iPod three times. I deleted the CD from my iTunes library, then synced my iPod again, it is deleted from my iPod. I re-imported the CD to the library, then re-synced it, and still comes up three times on my iPod. What gives? Thank you, in advance, to all that respond.

A spelling or punctuation mistake, or sometimes a trailing space usually causes this after the artists and/or song name, which fools the iPod into thinking that there are two different artists or songs. The trailing space is the hardest to spot.
Best way to cure this is to go into iTunes, highlight that artist and/or songs, right click on them and select "get info".
This brings up the multiple song info window. If you see the "artist" field is left blank, then there is a discrepancy with that name.
So to correct this, in the artist or song box retype the name, as you would like it, and then click ok. You should do this even if no mistakes are immediately visible.
Re sync this new artist/song info to your iPod.
If the above is not the issue, try this also. Highlight all the songs for that artist, right click on them and select "apply sort field/same artist".
    That often works.

  • Question about syncing photos

If I sync the photos between windows xp and iPod, will it delete whatever music I no longer having in my library in iTunes?? Or will it just delete whatever pictures on the iPod that I no longer have??

I'm still unclear exactly how you're syncing or from what app you're syncing them from.  You should be able to sync as many different "albums" (folders) as you want.

  • Question about syncing between two computers

I feel a bit silly, because I feel as though I should know this, but I'm not sure because it has never applied to me until now.
My main computer is a Vista machine, and everything is sync'd with that. However, I bought a MacBook last night (WOO-HOO!) to use as a secondary machine, and I'd like to get all of my contact and calendar info into that machine as well.
    I'm envisioning the following scenario:
    1. I will put at least one contact and at least one calendar event into Mac Mail and iCal in my new, empty MacBook...
    2. I will connect my iPhone to sync with the MacBook and iTunes will offer me the magic "merge" option.
    3. All of the information in my phone will be sync'd to my new MacBook, and I will have two computers and an iPhone all with the same info.
Are there any holes in my vision? Will this work?
    Thanks,
    -SB

    This should work as provided.
If something goes wrong with the sync process with your MacBook and this data is lost on your iPhone, you have your Vista machine with this data to recover from.
If you aren't already doing so, be sure to create a backup of this data on your Vista machine - contact information and calendar events - which should be done when syncing any device such as an iPhone with such important information stored on your computer.

  • Quick question about sync - sync communication

    Hi All
How many receiver agrement , reciever determination do we need in sync-sync communication
let us say that a proxy send request to http and wait for the response.
in this case we need a http receiver channel but when the http sends the answer back to the waiting proxy , do we need another receiver channel and receiver agreement.
    thanks

    Hi Malu,
You need only one sender and receiver agreement.Refer to the below links which gives details of sync communication without using BPM.Which clearly state only one receiver agreement and determination.
