A question about Web Application Designer 7.0

Now i am using WAD 7.0 and would like to get sum of each column from a query. I have put a analyse_item_1 in the web template. Could someone tell me how i can get sum from each column?

1. when i take a migration from 3.5 to 7.x, the javascript will be automatic saved in script item oder i muss at first put a web item for script in the web item?
- I have never migrated from 3.5 to 7.x but first you simply try out migration, if that created the script web item automatically well n good, but before hand copy the xhtml code, so that if something miss happens then you can recover that or just copy ur template.
If that does not work, then u need to copy your script code in script web item.
2. In XHTML a command for calling javascript in web item script will be automati put or i muss write mauelly?
- The code that you will be saving in script web item does not called automatically, either you created a function and write code in that and call the function where ever requrired.
For e.g. create a button and call the function there.
OR
You can also call the function on page loading.
It depends on situation and requirement.

Graphing Question in Web Application Designer.

That is the desired graph I need to acheive. It requires a "bar graph" for Actuals information and "Line graph" for Forecast and Budget.
So in essence I need a graph web item where I need to have both bars and lines.
I have an option only to choose 1 graph type at a time in WAD. Firstly is this even possible in WAD, if yes, how?

I have put the URL in the HTML code manually as following

To use Web Application Designer release 2004s do we need to have portals???

I would like some clarity regarding whther we need a portal or not.
If you use Web Application Designer (SAP BW 3.x) it works fine, you can create reports and then it shows in SAP Easy Access under favourites. Executes fine, no portal is used.
Now when I want to use the new Web Application Designer I can not execute the reports. Gives me error
"Java communication error: RFC destination NOT_CONFIGURED does not exist", the window it appears in has a text saying it can't conect to the portal. Then notes that I look at regarding this seems that the connection between SAP BW and Portal must be set up.
So can please someone tell me whether you need the portal to use the new Web Application Designer release 2004s

Web Application Designer: Column width on analysis_item with BW 7.0

Hi,
I'm new to SAP world and I have found a problem I'm not able to solve. I'm working with the Web Application Designer and I want to modify the cell properties (such as cell width) for aligning different queries. In fact, my question are:

2. The property width of the analysis_item doesn't work, does it?

Hi,
I have just discovered the capability of modifying columns widths with css properties.
So if I add to the head section of the html:
div.prueba2 .urSTTDBdr1
div.prueba2 .urSTTDBdr
div.prueba2 .urSTTDBdr2
And later I put the AnalysisItem between a div class="prueba2" and /div, the columns widths are changed.
Do you know where can I find all the style properties (such as urSTTDBdr1) and its functions?

Print PDF file with the lay out created in the BEx web application designer

Got the following questions (problems) when print a web report created in BEx Web Application Designer to a PDF file:
1. The tile (which has a company logo and report name in it) was not printed, is it possible to print a title (with company logo) on each page of the PDF file?
2. Want print the filters that have value specified on the PDF file, is it possible to do this?

Hi Simon,
you can achieve this requirement i.e. using this way of implementation:
1. Create a new template which contains the required fields (company logo etc) and set the visibility of the top container to "hidden". Add a empty data provider to this template and add the filter values (variable names) you want to display on the PDF. However be aware that the name for the (empty) data provider must match the name of the data provider within the original template you want to print.
2. Open your original template and include the template you created in step 1 (Advanced: Web Templates). Choose the appropriate location (above/below the analysis item.
3. Check the settings of your export command: do not set a special web item to be printed.
If you export the template within web the second template should be printed correctly.

Bex Web Application Designer issue: portal communication error

hi experts,
I am working with Bex Web Application Designer in BI7. we are using SP9. When i try to use the Web template its giving below error.
The Requested operation could not be performed due to portal communication error.
its message class is RSBOPLAP and message number is 018 and description is Java System error: An unknown error occured During portal communication.
when i double click the below error details given.
Diagnosis
An error occurred in the BI components on the SAP J2EE Engine.
System Response
Procedure
Contact your system administrator to have the error analyzed in detail.
Procedure for System Administration
Start the Visual Administrator, log on to the SAP J2EE Engine and choose "<J2EE_SID>" ->"Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Viewer".
The file "defaultTrace.trc" includes detailed information about the error that occurred. In Windows, you can find this file in the Log Viewer under "Cluster <computer name>" -> "Server <server number>" -> "<drive>:\usr\sap\<SID>\JC<INSTANCE>\j2ee\cluster\server<NUMBER>\log". ". In Unix, the file is located under "/usr/sap/<SID>/JC<INSTANCE>/j2ee/cluster/server<NUMBER>/log".
If the file does not include enough detail about the error, you can increase the log level to obtain more information. To do this, choose "<J2EE_SID>" -> "Server" -> "Services" -> "Log Configurator". On the "Locations" tab page, choose "com" -> "sap" -> "ip" -> "bi" -> "webapplications". Using the selection list on the right side of the screen, you can increase the log level, whereby "DEBUG" represents the log level with the most information. You can save your settings by choosing the "Save" icon. The change to the log level is active immediately. Once you have successfully analyzed the error, you should set the log level back to its default value using the appropriate pushbutton; continuous writing to the log file negatively affects the overall performance of the system.

WEB application designer - Web items - How to create new

Hi!
Is there a way to create new web item in web application designer, and <b>NOT</b> a copy of existing with different parameters (Web items located under Standard tab).
It would expand possibilities of web app. designer a lot!
Another question is, how to use BSP elements in BEX WEB reports (templates). Is this possible or not?

Hi,
in principal you can write new web items but this is not supported by SAP as this is a modification.
You would inherit from a standard web item class (for example CL_RSR_WWW_ITEM_VIEW) and maintain tables rsrrenderer rsrrendereratr rsrrenderert and optionally rsrrendererdep
BSP itself can not be used, unless you include a BSP Application via Iframes in your Web template.

Navigational charts in Web Application Designer

Hello all,
I have a question regarding actionable charts in Web Application Designer. For example a user selects a bar in a chart and based on that selection filters to additional reports or changes existing charts/tables in the Web Application Designer? I know you can right click and setup RRI then goto functionality but I would like the capability to click on the bar chart and then proceed with the action.
I know this can be done with Geo enabled Map Web Items where you click on a state/country and drill in for additional information but I'd like to know if it can be done with in charts. I know there is an option in WAD to setup Eventing, maybe there you set the onclick event to do the function?

Internal error communicating with the IGS (maps)
Map could not be Created
But the map can be shown in Analyser,please help me!

Are all layers visible?
Did you check the query that you are using as Dataprovider?
Is there only one geocharacteristic in the row?
Which infoobjects are you using and which shapefiles?

2) how that report will be authenticated in browser, do we have to create a login page for users or is there any built in one.

I would suggest that you search the forums first ...
1) how do we publish report developed in web application designer so that we can access it on internet. Is there any webserver offered by sap.
SAp BI comes with a ABAP Web server and a JAVA web server. You can publish the web template / report using these servers ... they can be directly accessed using the URL ( the application has a feature to execute the same in the web ) or the same can be published as a page on Enterprise portal and then accessed from there.
2) how that report will be authenticated in browser, do we have to create a login page for users or is there any built in one.
The access for the same will be through the BI login. When you execute the URL , you will be prompted to login by the server and you do not need to create a separate login page for the same. You can also access them through Enterprise portal where the user needs to login to the enterprise portal and then access all systems using a Single Sign On or SSO.
3) Does web application designer comes with Sap GUI (like bex analyzer) or do we have to install separate programme.
The front end for Web Application designing is called Web Application designer and it gets installed along with your GUI installation and you can design the templates using the same.
Note: WAD is getting phased out by Xcelsius as part of the BI BO roadmap but then with extended support you will have WAD supported till about 2016 I guess so nothing to worry right now.

Change Layout Web Application Designer

Hello Gururs.
Here's the question:
I'm creating a Web Application Designer Template. When I execute it in the web, the variable screen has certain colors (kind of blue colors) the standard, but after inputing the variables when I click on Ok button, the display of the query is very mediocre, i.e., the standard, is representing the query in a table with the columns and rows in gray!
I would like to change these colors, but I don't know how.
I believe that in older versions you used to have an option in WAD of choosing the stylesheet (CSS), that now in the 7.0 version is unavailable.
How can I change the layout presentation of the queries format in the WAD?

Hi Diogo,
The table colors are from the EP settings.
I often insert a line like this in the head of the template:
<style type="text/css" >.urSTSHL2 { background-color:#CCDAF6 } .urSTSHL1 { background-color:#CCDAF6 }</style>
It will overrule the standard CSS from the EP and it also works with IP queries.
The alternative is to change the overall setting or change theme in the EP.

Prevent values being passed using Link Item on Web Application Designer

Hello all,
I have a question regarding 7.0 Web Application Designer. I am using the web item Link Item and using the command OPEN_TEMPLATE_DIALOG to open a new WAD Template BUT I do not want to pass the values from the original WAD template to the new one. Is there a way to restrict passing any values to the new template? Am I using the correct command OPEN_TEMPLATE_DIALOG?
To better describe what is happening, my characteristics and key figures are being passed from my original WAD template to my new WAD template when using the OPEN_TEMPLATE_DIALOG. I do not the values to be passed, only to open up the new WAD Template with its own reports.

Sorry maybe I mistated the problem. I do not have an issue with the variable screen when transitioning to the second WAD template screen, I have a problem due to the values from the first WAD template being passed to the second WAD template.
My first WAD template using the Link Item is only for the ability to click on the text to open up a second WAD template which I do not want the values to be passed from the First template.
I hope this clears up the confusion.
