i want to bye me a IPod but i am since 4 years a Windows C++ Programmierer (Bad english) when i have a IPod i will make my own apps but now to my question:
I have at the moment a Windows XP, i will buy me the mac OS X Leopard can i Install it like Linux over my XP ? or must i buy a mac (i hope not i'm not rich^^)

You can't install Mac OS X on anything but an Apple Mac computer. There are sources online that might claim that it's possible to install OS X on PCs, but none of them are supported, many likely will be very unstable, and all of them are a violation of the Apple software user license agreement (aka software piracy).
There are many Leopard compatible used Macs out there at very reasonable prices. I am running 10.5.8 on an eMac. I see some similar ones on the local Craigslist for less than $150.

I was a huge fan of serious magic before they sold out to adobe, I am also an adobe customer. I bought CS2 for over $2000 when it was new.
Video is my life, I was a manager of a local CW network affiliate for years also and I know a lot of people who use video software and take my advice.
I highly recommend Visual communicator 2 when it was new to lots of people. But Visual communicator 3 has little to offer that less than $50 worth of hardware can also do (ex. is multi-monitor support..nice feature, but with $50 of hardware, I can do it too) What I want to see and I would pay for it, buy buying the software and highly recommending this to many more people is a scissor feature to edit/ cut the video within visual communicator, because it is really inconveniant to have to switch between final cut or premier and then back into communicator. I would like to see it all incorporated..
mabey first you nice folks at adobe could release a pro version or something with editability features built within. But I hope in the long run to see something much bigger though!
My money in the long run is on Adobe if they are smart, you will incorporate VC3 features into premier. Make a button to switch between classic premier view for those that like it or another type of view that incorporates the VC3 ease of functionality with the power and ALL the tools of premier, I would pay TOP dollar for That! (In fact I am anxiously waiting for you all to do that...hope the future is bright and it happens soon!) Most TV stations use final cut pro still, but if you did this my bet is Adobe premier will take over the market entirely! I love Visual Communicator 2 and hope to get a newer version that has more editability functions in the future... thank you all for continuing a Great Product!

It will work on cell networks in Egypt if the cell provider offers an iPad data plan and associated sim card. Wifi will work as it does in the USA.

X-FI SVM Question (before I go buying another ca

Just bought the X-Fi PCIe card (the cheap one) in the hopes of taking advantage of Smart Volume Management. As far as I can see, though, it only works in the CL media player.
Is there a way to enable this across Windows, so that anything coming out the speakers is managed by SVM? Up to and including registry tricks, ways to shoehorn it into ffdshow, or anything.
Backing up and looking around, it looks like the gaming version of the card might do this (albeit in the interest of in-game audio), or something close to it.
Am I stuck getting the game version? Is there any way to force compression for all audio (or even just DirectShow)?

A few questions before buying a spectre x360

Hi I'm considering buying a 13" Spextre x360 once Win10 arrives in final version - but have a few questions before going ahead. Mostly looking into the 4041no (i'm from Denmark) - or similar configuration. I need a configuration with at least 500 GB of hard drive and 8 GBs of RAM. 1. Will the spectre support all the new windows 10 touchpad gestures (similar to OS X/Mac gestures)? I have read something about the touch pad on the not being a "precision touchpad" but instead being run by synoptic drivers or something. Don't know exactly what it means. I come from a Mocbook Pro - and these gestures are so good. 2. One of the things some talk about in reviews is heat - that the x360 gets very hot to hold. Even just browsing the web. And also fan noise being loud. Any experience here - is it just a few unfortunate buyers, or are any of these issues generic. 3. Browsing the web there are so many different model numbers, that i can't keep up - and some of them seem to be identical configurations. Is there any overview of what is what. For instance 4041no and 4040no seem identical - but there is a difference in price, at the stores i have seen online. Similarly there is a 4030no and a 4032no. What are all these models. different numbers for every store/country/????. Any help here.. 4. The 4041no model i'm looking into has this QHD screen. Very high resolution. How is that in everyday life for surfing the web (mostly Chrome), Photoshop, watching movies local/streaming and more. It seems that everything will be very small, or is there scaling options or other stuff that makes this high resolution usable in real life. Or maybe lower the resoltion in settings. Any experience? I will soon try to find one in a real store to try out if possible. Think i'll start with those questions :-) And maybe also some generel feedback on the spectre x360. Thanks /Jonas

I have the 4014 model (core i7, 256gb ssd, 8gb ram and FHD screen) so I can answer some but not all of your questions.
1. Touchpad is responsive and easy to use for me. Just upgraded to windows 10 and multi touch gestures are working fine. Three finger tap to open search, four finger tap to open the quick settings panel. Three finger flicks do app switching and minimising. The pad is controlled by the synaptic driver, but it has quite a few options and seems to work well for me.
2. Heat is not an issue for me. Sure, it gets warm when running intensive tasks, but as long as you are not pushing the cpu for long periods of time, it will be fine on your lap. Browsing the web, the fan will come on briefly when I load 10 or more tabs at a time, otherwise the fan will remain off.
Being an aluminium chassis, it has the ability to transfer heat out of the shell more easily than a plastic laptop, so you might notice it getting warm quicker, but it also cools down fast.
The fan is no louder than any other laptop I have used.
3. Can't help you with model numbers, sorry.
4. I'm finding that a lot of applications do not scale correctly on my FHD screen, so I can imagine that the QHD would be the same or worse. Most of the time, you can get the applications to look better by turning off display scaling in the compatibility settings. Sometimes this means that the application then looks smaller on screen, though text, images and icons are sharp, they are harder to read. The QHD would make these apps even smaller. I do not think QHD is worth it on a small screen for this reason.
In general the laptop works well. I use it in my job as a teacher, and being able to convert from laptop to tablet is a huge benefit. It is super fast to start up and easily gets me through a school day (quite often getting home with more than half a charge). I will just close the lid between uses and it sleeps, drawing very little power. It is capable of running Photoshop and office apps, while browsing the web and doing some light duty CAD modeling on the side.
One small issue that I and a few others have had is a crackling, buzzing noise due to the processor power regulation. Only audible in really quiet rooms or when putting an ear close to the device, when the computer is idling. Not an issue for everyday use, but something to be aware of if you have sensitive hearing or are annoyed by slight imperfections.

Questions before I buy Time Capsule

Hi All
I hope you can please help with my questions before I go and buy a time capsule. I currently have a 5 month old 2.4ghz mbp and a PC running Vista. The PC is connected via ethernet to a billion 7402GL and the mbp connects via wireless. I was going to buy an external hard drive to store data and I thought I might try the time capsule as it will be networked.
I am not 100% sure I know how time capsule works so any info would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to work out the setup in my head I have had a read through these forums but I thought I would ask specific questions in relation to my setup.
When I connect the time capsule to the billion can I still use the billion for wireless or do I have to use the time capsule? Also do I connect the TC to the Billion using ethernet or wireless? I want the mbp to access the data on the TC via wireless and the pc via ethernet. I will be getting an imac once I sell my pc so that will also need to connect to TC. I will mainly use the TC for storing data but I might start using time machine as well. Is it possible for a ps3 to access TC?
I will be attaching a printer to it so I would want to be able to print from any computer that connects to the network.
What would be the best setup? Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

If you already have a working wired/wireless network, and a spare ethernet port on your router, just connect the TC to the router with an ethernet cable. Turn off the TC's wireless, and it'll work fine.
No need to change any of your connections, you can carry on using your existing router.
Printing will work fine from any computer connected to your router (or to the TC, if you wish), but the printer driver needs to be installed on each computer, and the printer has to be one that works with the TC.
I don't think that there's a way of using the TC as a server with a PS3. The PS3 needs to see a DLNA server - I don't think that there's any way to get this running directly on a TC.
You can get a Mac to run as a DLNA server (application called "MediaLink"), and it might be possible to get the Mac to link to the TC. This way, you could access the TC from the PS3, but the Mac would have to be switched on for it to work.

The cost to upgrade has been $US129 in the past. Whether it stays the same for Leopard is unknown although it shouldn't be too different to that.

For simplicity you might want to think about buying the RAM from Apple. However, if you want to go 3rd party there's aplenty of choices such as Crucial, Kingston, Samsung etc. Just be sure to buy RAM that has been explicitly tested in an MBP (it'll say so).

Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
    1.    Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
    2.    After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    3.    Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
    4.    Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Questions before buying (T440s)

Just a few questions before buying a T440S.
When configuring a T440S on Lenovo http://shop.lenovo.com I have 2 option for screen :
- full HD (1920 x 1080)
- HD+ (1600 x 900) - the default opton selected
Which option is better ? I'm lost because the resolution is better for the 1st one but the price is less expensive ("remove 3,24€"). That's not for the difference of price but therefore it seems that option 2 is better than option 1.
Is an IPS screen for both ?
I'm located in France, and I have thos options for 3G (mobile) :
- none
- pre-cabled for 3G module installation (not provided)
- Module 3G/HSPA+ integrated (Ericsson N5321)
Does this last one compatible with French 4G (Orange or SFR) ? Otherwide, should I choose option 2 and buy a dedicated 3G/4G module elsewhere ? Which one ?
Finaly, I currently own a Dell E6400 with a (port replicator E/PLUS ADVANCED). Which dock should I order in Lenovo accessories to have the same functionalities ?

A bit late answer, so maybe you already bought your laptop.
Here in the northern Europe, the Lenovo official website only offers the Ericsson 3G module, but the official Lenovo vendors offer models with a built-in 4G/LTE module, and I'm pretty sure they also exist in the Lenovo TABOOK-pdf catalog.
Regarding the docks, one major difference is the video connections - Basic dock has only VGA, Pro dock has 1 DisplayPort and Ultra dock has 2 DisplayPorts.

Well, not block, but you don't have a context menu key (right click menu) or some keys are placed in stranged places or merged so as to use Fn key to use one of them (for example PgForward and End are in the same key). You can always remap the keys with external software.
Yes you can have those 2 drives. I have two SSD and one HDD.

Questions before I SWITCH to Mac...

Few questions before I switch to Mac (hoepfully when Leopard comes out)....
Currently I have a Dell XPS Media Center PC and a Vista laptop.
1. TV/DVR CAPABILITIES: I love using my PC as a tv tuner & DVR. Does mac have this capability? If I run Vista on the Mac will my Media Center, TV tuner, etc... run the same?
2. PDA SYNC: Will the Mac sync calendar & contat items with my Windows based PDA?
3. WEB DEVELOPMENT: I am a ASP.NET developer. Can I do this on a mac easily? If I have to use Windows on the mac to do this, can anyone speak on the performace?
4. SHARING FILES BETWEEN OS & COMPUTERS: Can I share files with other XP or Vista pcs I have in the house? Can I share files between the Mac and Vista OS on the SAME machine?
5. DUAL MONITORS: Does the MacBook Pro or iMac support DUAL monitors?
6. CS3 QUESTIONS: I'm thinking about purchasing Photoshop CS3, Flash CS3, etc... Can I install them onto the Mac side and the Vista side of the same machine?

Some quick questions before purchase of MBP

Hey Guys/Gals,
I've been a PC user all my life, but will now be making a permanent switch to Macs. I've been wanting to buy a MBP since they have been released, but have been hesitant (like many others I think...) about the issues of whine, extreme heat, warped screens etc...
With the recent updates of the logic board and even battery, I think I'm ready to go for it. I just had some quick questions before I place my order:
1. I could order my MBP from the computer store at my university. Do you guys think that will get me the newest possible MBP or will they maybe get me one that they have had in stock for ages? I really don't want to get stuck with an outdated logic board and/or battery. Is it safest just to order directly from the site?
2. Although the issue with really hot MBPs seems to have gotten better, I am still quite shocked that people say that temperatures well above 70 Celsius are "within spec". I understand that Apple officially states this and that the Intel chip can handle up to 100 Celsius, but this seems crazy to me Basically, I want to ask if I am correct in my observations that the new Intel chips don't get much hotter than other chips around, but rather Apple has chosen to set the temperature mark that sets off the fans pretty hight (around the 70s if I remember correctly?)
I would assume that in following their "mission" of creating beautifully designed computers, Apple also wants to have a really silent one. Now I'm all for a quiet machine, but I feel as though if fans were on either (a) all the time or (b) when the CPU reaches the high 50s lots of people would be happier.
Anyway, it's just a thought. I noticed there are lots of experts around here, so I'm just interested to hear what you guys think about this approach that Apple seems to have taken. I don't think the heat will stop me from getting this amazing notebook, but it certainly is a little frustrating.

No matter where you take possession there's no assurance of when the machine was manufactured. There is really just as good a chance of getting a perfectly good computer regardless of place of purchase. If there is a problem it's covered under warranty. You can have the computer replaced within the first two weeks. Afterwards they will replace or repair. Without Applecare's extended warranty the computer is warranted for one year after purchase.

You are wrong in your assumption. The Core Duo's maximum temperature is 125C before shutdown. Normal operating temperatures according to Intel's own documentation is 50-70C under average load. MBPs under heavy load will typically reach core temperatures over 80C. Then there's the added heat from the hard drive and GPU. The aluminum case acts as a partial heat radiator hence the case temperatures can get high. The MBP User Guide specifically states this and issues a warning about using the computer on one's lap.
I would assume that in following their "mission" of creating beautifully designed computers, Apple also wants to have a really silent one. In fact the fans in the MBP are very quiet at least mine are. Unless you are in the hardware design business with intimate knowledge of using Core Duo chips in portable computers, then your observations, although certainly your opinion, are not based on anything factual.

More likely there are a lot of people around here who think they are experts. As the remark goes, "An 'expert' derives from ex, meaning 'has been', and spert, meaning 'drip under pressure.'"
You'll read lots of opinions on these forums. Don't take for granted that everything you read is factual or truth. A lot of the opinions expressed are without any basis in fact.
