A question on FaceTime

Hi Guys,
I need your help.
I always used facetime on my iphone 4 without problems but when i used facetime for the first time on my macbook and came out what you read below.
What does it mean and why i should change my ID password?
Thanks a lot.
"Your Apple ID was used to sign in to FaceTime on a MacBook Pro.
If you have not recently set up a MacBook Pro with your Apple ID, then you should change your Apple ID password"

The answer to your question is in your own question, or better, in the apple´s mail:
"If you have not recently set up a MacBook Pro with your Apple ID, then you should change your Apple ID password"
...you say, if I understood, that this message came out when you used Facetime for the first time, and this is normal that Apple advertise you of that, but this is normal.

  • Question re: FaceTime Preferences

    Hi -
I just upgraded my iPhone and MacBook Pro to iOS 8.1 and Yosemite, and found a FaceTime setting/preference that I don't remember being on earlier versions.  On both the phone and the notebook, there is the following setting:
The default on both devices is that this setting is checked.  But wouldn't it be easier (and less of a data drain) to use the Wi-Fi connection?  Can someone explain this and advise me as to whether I should change the setting?  Thanks very much,
    Shelly

    Hi Shelly Friedman1,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
This setting is to allow your computer to make and receive phone calls using your iPhone. It is a new feature in Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite and iOS 8 called Continuity. For more information please refer to the attached article.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity
    Phone calls
With Continuity, you can make and receive cellular phone calls from your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac when your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network.
To make and receive phone calls, here's what you need:
Sign in to the same iCloud account on all your devices, including your Mac.
Your iPhone and your iPad or iPod touch need to use iOS 8 or later. Your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
All devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
All devices must be signed in to FaceTime using the same iCloud account. This means any device that shares your Apple ID will get your phone calls. Look below for instructions on how to turn off iPhone cellular calls.
Wi-Fi Calling needs to be off. Go to Settings > Phone. If you see Wi-Fi Calling, turn it off.
    Cheers,
    Joe

  • IPhone 4, 4S, & 5 + iPad 2 facetime does not connect

Me and several family members with Apple devices ranging from iPhone 4 (5.0.1), iPhone 4S (iOS 6), iPhone 5 (iOS 6), and iPad2 (5.1.1) cannot connect to each other using facetime for a past few weeks.  I have read a few blogs about iOS 6 being the problem, and the solution was to upgrade to iOS 7.  I have tried using my two iOS 5 devices to facetime, but that does not work either.  Is there a real solution to the problem besides "update to iOS 7"?  Facetime was working on all devices previously.
I cannot update all the devices in question because a lot of the phones are in the hands of technology-illiterate family members overseas.  Can you please provide a solution to this problem?  Our family bought Apple devices mainly because of the facetime feature so we could connect overseas.  Thank you.

This...actually...does not help at all.  This seems to be the "generic" answer to a recently common question.
Facetime WAS working perfectly before Apple did something, and now the answer is a forced "upgrade" to remedy it.  There are tons of reasons why people do not want to upgrade to a newer version, especially with a phone that has older hardware (such as the iPhone 4).  As stated above, some of my family members are technologically illiterate, and upgrading their phone is difficult.  This seems more and more like Apple's plan to force people to buy new phones.  When you take a perfectly working product and then disable key features that force people to upgrade, thats a pretty lame move.  What's to say Apple won't do something like this in the future?  If I buy the iPhone 5S, 2 years down the line, Apple might disable Siri so you're forced to buy iPhone 7 to use it again.
I loved how Apple seamlessly "just worked", which is why I got my family Apple devices.  Now that it doesn't...I might be forced to find other alternatives.

  • FaceTime constantly "failing" can't make FaceTime calls

    Tiffany,

  • HT1766 since os7 update for ipad, I can't sign into Facetime. I enter username & password & the message I get back is "FaceTime Activation could not sign in. Pls check your network connect". There is nothing wrong with my wifi connect. What's up with this

Any takers on this question ? FaceTime is one of the apps I used all the time prior to Os7 update, now i can't get in because when I try to sign in, the message I receive says Activation could not sign in and I should check my network connection. My network connection works fine, I can use the internet or twitter or all the other apps which require a working network, but not FaceTime.......What's up with that ??

there has been a big problem with facetime and imessage. The best solution for this case is to restore your device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Make sure you back it up. and I would set up facetime before you reinstall your backup and  make sure its working.

  • Will facetime on Mac work in the UAE?

I may be relocating from the USA to Dubai (UAE) for work. My question: Will FaceTime on my Mac (that I bought in America) work in Dubai? I have read that the government blocks certian websites. I want to be able to video chat back home if possible. Thanks in advance!

Facetime is blocked on devices sold in the UAE, but I've not heard of the ports used by Facetime being blocked, so it should work when using a non-UAE Mac. Perhaps someone who has visited the UAE and tried to use Facetime can confirm, though.
    Regards.

  • UAE purchased iPad air and No FaceTime

This post is not a question.
Facetime on Ipads from UAE, in Particular Virgin Megastore in the Dubai Mall sell Ipads to tourists without disclaimer that their is no facetime available. All posts read todate say you cannot fix the problem.
I sincerely suggest that Apple are responsible to resolve this issue for genuine apple customers, This is my 3 Ipad and 4th iphone, and I should have checked. But there is no labals on the packaging or published spec's altering your decision.
I don't want backdoors to fix what I want.  I live in Australia my account is more than 10 years old, I am not playing games with UAE or Apple, I just want a $1000.00 device fully featured.
Apple over to you to resolve, not the community of Loyal followers.  Your long term customer ID should be enough to satify updated capability.
Looking forward to a real reply from Apple.

Do not expect a reply as Apple does not reply to every communication.
Facetime is prohibited by government regulation in UAE, KSA and
some other Middle Eastern areas. Apple cannot and will not break
    the local laws.
It is always recommended that you purchase your iPads & iPhones
where you intend to use them to avoid such problems and to be
sure that you will be able to get warranty and service.
If you are unhappy with your iPad as is, sell it and use the proceeds
toward purchasing an iPad with the features you desire.

  • How do I get rid of the question mark in my FaceTime icon?

I can't use the FaceTime on my phone. There is a question mark in the FaceTime icon. How do I get rid of it so that I can FaceTime?

to answer that question we need more information. like did you verify that you have facetime enabled in your settings
Also, what carrier are you using.

  • HT204380 When using facetime how many people can you be connected to at one given time? The reason for this question is I would like to utilize facetime for conference call meetings.

When using facetime, how many people can you be connectedto at once? The reason I ask this question is, I am wanting to conduct teleconference meetings with my staff who are spread out throughout the state and I would like to be able to have seven people in total connected to facetime at once.

Currently only one person. A lot of users want to be able to FT multiple users.
Send feedback to Apple requesting it. Maybe in a future iOS update or iPad it will be available.

  • Question about the sensor... just got my 4s yesterday after screwing up my 3 with the laterd version update.  EVery call I have been on has either changed to speaker, called another number or ended the call or activated facetime, which I have turned off.

Question about the sensor... just got my 4s yesterday after screwing up my 3 with the laterd version update. EVery call I have been on has either changed to speaker, called another number or ended the call or activated facetime, which I have turned off. never had this trouble with my 3...I don't even want to talk to anyone on this phone! Is the sensor bad? That is what the AT&t rep suggested.

Restore as new... if the problem still continues then there is a hardware issue.
If it stops after a restore as new, then the issue is with the backup the device is currently setup with.

  • FaceTime Icon Has A Question Mark Inside It

Does anyone know what it means when the icon for FaceTime has a question mark inside the icon? I also don't have the camera icon next to text in the FaceTime button in the contacts. FaceTime still works fine but I don't know what the question mark means. Thanks!

I'm not completely certain myself yet, but I think it means it's not sure the other side has the ability to do FaceTime calls.

every time i get on my computer and click on imessage and facetime a little box pops  up saying an internal messages error occurred  or an internal facetime error occurred....but my question is how do i get it to stop doing this or how to stop it.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa
