A question on firmware numbering conventi

When I updated the firmware on my MuVo TX, the "new" firmware was .0.05, but the old version was something like ..04. As the first numbers for the former (.0) were lower than the latter (.) I wondered if the new firmware was out of date, in spite of having new features.
However, I then figured out an explaination and I'm just checking to see if it's correct; is the firmware version number based on the date it was finished (or released, or whatever)? As in, the new firmware is from January 2005, and the old firmware is from November 2004. Just a small query but I thought I'd ask.

Hmm, well it didn't seem to have Cue/Review as an option, and I wasn't informed that I was using out-of-date firmware when I ran the updater, so hopefully I didn't just downgrade my firmware. <_< >_>
I doubt it'd be a big issue anyway.Message Edited by Sockatume on 06-9-2005 :04 PM

• Please can someone explain what the firmware numbers me

Hi,
I would like to check whether I have the most up to date firmware for my Zen Micro but the number codes seem to be unfathomable. I have .02.05 and I don't need plays for sure because I don't use a subscription service. Is this the best one to have, because I am not sure if I still have the 24 hours standby mode before going into deep sleep, or whether I have the 4 hour.
Thanks
Isobel

Ditto on ..0.
On most Creative players with a choice of MTP (PlaysForSure) vs. non-MTP firmware--Micro, Sleek (the non-MTP version was in the initial European models; only MTP firmware is in US models or available for download anywhere), now Touch, and presumably Xtra when its MTP firmware releases--the .x.x line means non-MTP firmware; the 2.x.x line means MTP firmware. (The MicroPhoto is different, but from what I gather the non-MTP firmware on the first Singaporean models was a fluke.)
Within each line (as you can see from fred_be9300's changelog), the higher the middle numbers, the more recent the release. Thus ..0 is more recent than .0.02, which is in turn more recent than your current .02.05.

• Question about Online Numbers

Hello I have a big question before purchasing my online number:
I live in Toronto, Canada and my family is in Argentina.
Online numbers are not available for these 2 countries.
my question is:
Can i purchase an US online number for my family to call from argentina and pay international rate (as if calling to US)?
or Does this only work if the people are calling to a local number?
They want to be in touch with me and they dont care if they have to pay as international call. Thank you

I think this was answered in another thread earlier today:

Getting an Online Number closer to your family in Argentina, like a number from Chile, may be a good option for cheaper international calling from Argentina compared to calling a US number. Or get them to use Skype.
Good luck!

• Questions about firmware & compatibility

What's goin on guys,
I have a iBook Blueberry 300 MHz PowerPC G3; 288 MB Memory; 3.1.2f4 bootRom; and i'm running Mac OS X 10.3.9.
My first question is: Do I really even need to upgrade my firmware? I've read through about 25 pages of the forum so far, and I've seen it suggested more than a few times.
My second question: I have tried relentlessly to watch streaming video on this Mac. It simply will not work. I downloaded the latest FlashPlayer, updated my Java settings, checked my internet connection speed, and it simply will not work. I'm beginning to think that 300 MHz just isn't a fast enough processor to handle streaming media. Is this true? Are there any updates (besides hardware upgrades) that I can try?

Yes, this is correct.
Unfortunately, almost all G3 machines studder with streaming video. Especially the older ones -- even the 466 Mhz iBook studders a good bit with video. The reason for this is that the processor can't keep up and process the information. That's the main reason I found when I was researching the topic!
It's really not because of the graphics card, which many believe is the reason.

• WRT160Nv2 questions - no firmware upgrades?

I just bought a WRT160Nv2 today, and although setting it up was very easy and quick..there's a couple of things I'm curious about...
a) When I look for firmware upgrades, it only shows Version 1 and 3...not 2..why is that?? (I have version 2.0.02 build 008 Jul 27, 2008)
b) Why is there no Wide-40MHz option in the Radio Band even though the 'help' clearly mentions it?? Is this a reason why I don't really notice a big difference in the range improvement over my old router? (Belkin 54g + another Belkin 54g router configured as AP) I have currently set the mode to MIXED, Radio Band to Standard 20MHz, and Standard channel on AUTO.
Will the Wide Channel only apply if I have Wireless-N devices on the network?
Oh and I have a follow-up 3rd question:
c) I have a WiFi capable mobile phone (Nokia E65) which has 802.11b capability, and so far I have not been able to get it to work with the new router. I currently have a 11b device (the phone I mentioned), 2-3 11g devices, and I've just bought a Wireless-N adapter (WUSB600N) which I'll be using on a desktop...I'm just wondering what will happen when all three types of devices are going to be used, and if they'll all be able to work together without detriment to another (I guess mainly if the 11b phone will be usable when the N-device is active)
Message Edited by deep_schismic on 05-27-2009 02:20 PM

Yes, your router does not have a Wide-40MHz option in the Radio Band...You should try to change the Standard Channel to 1/9/11 and see the difference, also you can change the Beacon Interval to 75, Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 and RTS Threshold to 2304 under Advanced Wireless Settings to improve wireless range...

• Questions on firmware

Hi,
i have to install bootcamp on an older macbook pro (MacBook Pro2,2 Model Number A1211, Core2 Duo 2.33). The bootcamp assistant docs tells me to update my firmware to the latest version...
My questions:
1. are firmware updates done by software updates (i suppose: not...)
2. how do i find the latest firmware for my model?
My Boot-ROM-Version is MBP22.00A5.B07
My SMC Version is 1.12f5
I downloaded Mactracker which tells me about an MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.4. If i follow the link to the apple site for this update, it says that after updating, my Boot-ROM version will be MBP21.00A5.B07 or MBP22.00A5.B07 (which i have).
Regards,
Sepp

1. Yes
2. Run Software Update. if you need an update, it will tell you.

• Few questions on pages, numbers, ibooks

hi friend,
few questions related to the above.
1) can docs and sheets written in pages and numbers be ported to ibooks?
2) how can we continue numbering in these apps from the last number?
3) is there a manual for hindi keyboard layout and typing?
thanx,

hi james & team,
help me be free from microsoft. want to convert to pages and numbers.
.... below are responses to your answers:
1) anything on roadmap in ios 6?
2) suppose you are numbering 1, 2, 3 ... then you have a big paragraph and other contents. after sometime you want to resume numbering but it should start from 4 and not restart from 1. does that make sense.
3) need some manuals for international keyboards. again, anything on roadmap? have lot of work and tons of business for apple in indian languages.
thanx,

• Question about section numbering in InDesign CS3

How do I use section numbering (1-1, 2-1, etc.) throughout a book document? I have a Current Page Number at bottom center of each Master page and want to include the Chapter Number and a hyphen before the Current Page Number. I want to start numbering over with each chapter. Also, I would like to find out how to use a running header of the Chapter name in the Master Pages. Thank you.

There is a distinction between chapter and section numbers. Also, Book can have a special meaning, so let's see if we can clear up some stuff here, first.
Is this a single document which you are dividing into logical chapters by uing sections in Pages panel Numbering and Section Options, or an InDesign Book, which is a collection of individual documents, each of which might be one of your chapters, and each of which might also contain multiple sections. An individual document can contain many sections, each of which may have a prefix and a section marker, both of which are accessible for use in numbering pages, but an individual document can have only one chapter number.

• Question about CEP Naming Conventions and or Standards

Hello,
CEP is new to the organization that I am working with. I have been asked to draft a few standards around CEP to help promote standardization and proper reuse of CEP artifacts. Can anyone share with me examples of CEP artifacts with a naming convention or their experiences with naming conventions around CEP in general. This is a living standards document for us. We plan on using CEP heavily going forward. Your experiences will help us start off on the right foot.
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
Oracle CEP supports reuse of components in several ways. For example, you can design your application as a set of modules that can be deployed independently (different teams can develop each module). Modules can register services, such as an event source or event consumer, and these services can be used by other modules. So, it's possible to plug modules developed by different teams of developers together and reuse them in different applications or environments. A component instance registers itself as a service when its advertise attribute is set to true in the Spring application context that defines a module.
A component implementation can also register a factory as a service that allows instances of the component to be created by other modules. Section 13.1.5 in the CEP Developer Guide describes this. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14301/adapters.htm#CIHBHEDA
Hope that helps.

• A Question About Firmware For Creative MuVo TX

1. How Can I Take Backup Of My Orginal Firmware From My Player ?
My Firmware version Is .20, And I Want To Take Backup Of It Before Upgrading It To .24.
2. What Is The Worst Condition If The Firmware Upgrade Is Halted By Any Error Or By Some Problems ? Can Player Work Again Without Contacting Any Service Center ?
Does Sound Quality Of TX FM Increases After Doing Firmware Upgrade ?
Does The FM Radio Becomes More Clear After Firmware Upgrade ?

If you want to use the software on the new machine then the new machine needs to be a Mac and you need to deactivate the software (use Help -> Deactivate) on one of the two current installations so that you have an activation available for the new machine.
I am assuming you meant CS5.5, not CC 5.5, and that you have a single user license, not two licenses... a single user license allows you to have two activated installations. If you do actually have two licenses then you should be able to use them with four different machines.

• Question: update firmware to my phone

If i update me firmware, that will change my IMEI or not?

No it will not.
Youre IMEI will remain the same.
The best way to get a quick response is to use the boards. Please do not be offended if I don't answer emails immediately.

• Using numbering convention in DNG 8.7.1.311

After filling out the dialog box directing DNG where to put the converted files, "Begin numbering" is grayed out. How can I access it to create the numbering I want?

In any of the drop-down boxes, you have to select a Serial Number option in order for that number box to be active.

• Pio 110D on the way....question regarding firmware

I finally pull the trigger and ordered a Pioneer 110D from OWC (along with 2GB ram, too!). Obviously I won't know what firmware it has until I get it hooked up, but I wanted to be prepared to upgrade it in the meantime.
I found the DVRFlash utility, but can only seem to locate a firmware updater for WIndows with the lastest 1.39 firmware. I have access to a PC that I could put the drive in to flash if needed, but I'm not sure this would be the best option. If I can't find that firware for DVRFlash, it's my only option, though!!
Anyone give me pointers on this or thoughts? Thanks.

The firware that's listed for Windows on Pioneer's site is the one you want. They label it as Windows since the download contains the firmware files (two of them) and a Windows-only program to perform the flash. Because the flash program Pioneer provides is Windows-only, that's why we have to resort to using the DVRFlash utility.
When you download the .exe file from Pioneer, you'll probably have to use Stuffit Expander to decompress the file. You'll end up with a folder that contains the three files mentioned above. Move the two firmware files (They probably end in .139 or something) into the same folder as the DVRFlash executable. Then, just follow the instructions that came with DVRFlash and you should be good to go.
Make sure you're using DVRFlash version 2.2. The GUI version, DVRFlashX, is only at version 2.1 and doesn't support the DVR-110D.
The 1.39 firmware must only be a few days old. I had looked last week and it was still at 1.37.
Hope this helps.

• 2ng Gen Nano - Honda Music Link Question (new Firmware)

I've got an 8gb Nano with firmware 1.0.2 which works just fine in my 2006 Pilot with the Honda Music Link. Does anyone know if the latest firmware, 1.1.2 works with it as well? I believe that 1.1.1 did not work with the Link.

Nobody is being shy...I really think that nobody in these forums knows.
I would contact Honda. They should be able to tell you.
