A Question on the iPhone SMS Hack

If your text messaging feature was blocked on your plan so like no messages you send or any one sends to you would go through. Would that SMS Hacking message go to your phone?

I got hacked last night. I deleted the text b/c I thought it was a wrong number. It was a foreign number and it did have strange spacing and symbols in it plus was written in bad English. Worse than my English anyways. Later that night my iPhone started playing music on its own. I thought I must of accidentally set it off some how. I turned off the music and went to bed. I had no idea I was being hacked. This guy probably has all my information. Anyways, I didn't think anything of it until I read about the SMS virus today. I've power cycled my phone and patched it but I'm not sure what I should do next, there is no telling what this guy got from my phone. I find it strange that my phone does this the night before the patch comes out.

    Alejandro,
Send yourself a test message and see what the response time is.
Is your e-Mail system a push type or a poll type.
If it is a polling type, there will be a delay because there is a timed polling sequences (that you can control to a degree)
In Settings/Mail look for 'Fetch' to see how it is setup.

I will address your second question.
First, make sure your iPhone and iPad have absolutely identical Apple IDs.  If they do, use that Apple ID in Settings > iCloud on your iPhone to select the "Notes" option.  Lo and behold, all your iCloud notes should appear on your iPhone.

  • Few questions about the iPhone

I am thinking of getting one, But have a few questions.
Its my first time on Apple's forum so i hope im not in the wrong section etcetc.
    1. Does the iPhone have a good stability? (doesnt randomly break down etc)
    2. Does it have a Video camera or just a Camera? (Can i add a video camera?)
    3. Does Safari and Wi-fi cost anything per month etc? (With prepaid)
    4. Is the Call quality good? The Music player good? Applications good?
    5. Is an iPhone good to use in Australia? Is its internet slow? Bad call quality?
I may wait for the 3G Models, but they are my basic questions.
    Thanks for the help everyone!

    Yes, it does.
    2. Does it have a Video camera or just a Camera? (Can i add a video camera?)
It does not have video at this time. This month a software update is coming out so we'll see what becomes available after that.
    3. Does Safari and Wi-fi cost anything per month etc? (With prepaid)
WiFi is free unless the WiFi provider charges for access.
    4. Is the Call quality good? The Music player good? Applications good?
    Yes.
    5. Is an iPhone good to use in Australia? Is its internet slow? Bad call quality?
The iPhone is not currently available in Australia and the TOU of these forums do not allow the discussion of hacked phones. If you buy a hacked phone, there is no guarantee that the phone will work properly and you will not get any support from Apple or these forums.

  • A few (basic) questions about the iPhone

I just got my iPhone 3GS about a week ago. I am very new to the whole smartphone arena, so some of my questions my seem stupid. Please be kind regardless.
I've learned a lot about the iPhone by trial and error (pressing buttons to see what happens) but one thing I just discovered was the multitasking bar. When I accessed it, I saw every app I had run since I got the phone displayed in the multitasking bar. And I know that by holding the icons on the bar, you can bring up a red minus sign, touch it, and remove that app from the bar. My question is, are all of those apps displayed in the mutltasking bar constantly running in the background, and thus, draining more battery than necessary?
Secondly, on the topic of wifi. I have my phone set to automatically join known networks and ask me to join unknown networks that it detects. However, it doesn't seem to be doing that. I still have to manually go to settings and search for the network. It will automatically join my home network (for example, when I go somewhere and come home, it will switch back to my home network automatically), but it won't do this with, for example, the wifi network at McDonald's even though I did go through the setup and make that network a known network. Am I mistaken in thinking the phone should do this automatically, or do I have to search for the network every single time? Also, since I have "ask to join networks" checked, will it automatically detect nearby networks, or do I also have to manually search for those? I understand this question may be confusing, so I can try to clarify if need be.
My last question is concerning conserving the battery. I currently have both wifi and 3G active on my phone, and I have read conflicting reports of which one drains more battery. Some say to turn off 3G and keep wifi, others say vice versa. I'm at home a lot so I'm always near my home wifi network and don't need 3G for data transfer unless I'm out and about. So is it better to turn 3G off unless I leave? I'm just trying to do whatever I can to conserve battery because I've noticed that the battery drains quite rapidly.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted totry and clear those things up. I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance.

Only the last 4 apps to be run are actually active and in RAM. The others are swapped out to flash memory in a saved state (i.e you should be able to resume where you left off, if the app is written to support that). They don't therefore drain battery. I close all apps down from time to time (every few days) just to keep things neat.

It should automatically list new networks when (a) you're in range and (b) you try to connect to the internet (e.g. browse to a web page or check for email)

The issue is not which drains more battery, but which you need to connect to the internet. Where you have wifi access, switch off 3G, where you have 3G, switch off wifi.

  • Is the iPhone 5 hacking taking place worldwide?

My iPhone seems hacked. The camera keeps flashing, letters are being typed, and they keep scrolling though my contacts. Location USA.

    iPhones have not been hacked.
The people who got locked out of their devices had their info stolen from a different service(eBay, yahoo, etc).
They used a single password across all the services.
You have a software issue at best, at worst your hardware is dying.
Try a reset as mentioned above.

  • A question regarding the iPhone's power USB charger.

Hello, I just want to ask those who know because I'm traveling to Asia and I'll be bringing my phone with me. I'm not going to bring my laptop so I'll be using the charger to charge the phone. My question is can I use the iPhone's charger in Asia? I mean they are using 220 volts over there and I'm not sure if the charger is universal to both 110 and 220 volts. Don't want to blow up my charger and iPhone over there. Please any info would really be of great help. Thanks.

The iPhone charger is universal so you can safely use it anywhere. You may need an adaptor though so that it will fit in Asian wall sockets.

  • A few questions about the iPhone 4S...

Hi guys, Yesterday I fixed up the 4S that I recieved from a friend for my iPhone 4.
Anyway there are two things that bother me,
One of them: When I sync my music the album art doesn't show up.. I'm running the same iOS on both phones and album art appears on the iPhone 4.
While on the iPhone 4S it doesn't.
Second when I take a picture with flash. It leaves a blue blop on the screen..

As for updating, yes iTunes will tell you when there is an update and it will update through it.
As for "brick" For the most part, if you don't hack your phone you shouldn't have to worry about it. While there are reports of non hacked phones getting bricked during an update, it is a small (but vocal) percentage. Best bet is to make sure you are plugged into a USB 2.0 port on your computer (direct, not via a hub...eg: cable goes from phone to PC).
As for txts, go to Settings => general => Passcode Lock...and there is setting to turn off preview...you will still get told you have a message, but won't show text on screen till you go read it.
As for SIM contacts, the iPhone doesn't support contacts on a SIM. All contacts are stored on phone.
As for ringtones, just what iTunes offers is all you can get. The list is growing over time.

  • A few  questions about the iPhone.

Question 1: Does restoring your iPhone and getting the newer firmware help the battery life at all?
Question 2: When restoring the iPhone, I have heard people say that you should back it up. only thing youd lose is contacts and texts right?
Question 3: You guys most likely won't know this...but I have heard that apple is aware that the iphones were rushed and some have had issues. are the ones that they are now sening to the apple stores still old ones with the problems or do they make sure the ones they are sending out now are working good? because i'm just wondering if I should wait until apple addresses us directly about the issues until i buy.

Possibly, I haven't noticed anything different, but others might have.
EDIT: What firmware do you have? If you don't have 5A347, then do a restore to get it.
    mikkilla wrote:

EVERYTHING is erased off of your iPhone when you do this. You have to sync it back using iTunes regardless of back-ups. Back-ups just remember what settings and content you have on your iPhone so that it syncs everything back the way it was. Much more easier to do this than to start off fresh.

Most issues are software problems, which will be resolved with future updates regardless of what phone you have. In my opinion, get it whenever because I don't think Apple will make any changes to the iPhone itself for a long time (years, probably), only the software.

  • An inportant question about the iPhone 5 screen!

Not sure if i grasped the concept of the new iPhone 5 screen but from what i understood is that the glass screen n the sensors which detect the touch of ur fingers have been integrated into one screen allowing for a thinner phone, the only problem is that if ur glass were to crack, would that render the touch sensors useless? In the first 4 models if the screen cracked all was well and u only had to worry about the spot of cracked screen n the sensors n screen were fine...now im worried that the sensors and even the screen might b affected...thanx in advance
PS: Im also to understan that the new glass on the phone is superior in resistance than older models but in sure it doesnt make it invinsible

The previous phones were like this
    ----------- Glass
    ----------- Touch Sensors
    ----------- Pixels
Now, the iPhone 5 is that way
    ----------- Glass
    ----------- Pixels & Touch Sensors

  • Questions about the iPhone 5 Lightning Cable?

Ok, so the new iPhone comes with a "Lightning" USB connecter thing. So, why do they sell Lightning to 30 pin adapter? What does this do? Can lightning charge on the newest MacBook Air with USB 3.0? Any idea how long it will take to charge through this? So, if it comes with Lightning to USB, that should charge the iPhone 5 with the USB power adapter it comes with right? I know this is a lot, but what I'm mainly confused with is what the Lightning to 30 pin does, and if the iPhone 5 will charge with the accessories that come with the iPhone when you buy it. Thanks!

The lightning to 30 pin adapter allows you to still use all the old sound docks, third party charges and so on with your new iphone 5.
I am happy that apple came out with the adapter. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. $29 for the adapter is a bit much. Especially since it does not support video out.

  • A few questions about the iphone 3GS + repairing costs

    Hi,
I just recently bought a iphone 3GS but I am not sure how to tell whether it is new or used.
I checked through the settings and it says:
    statistics resets: never
    minutes called:0
    usage: -
    etc.
Is there a way to truly tell whether the phone is completely brand new? Because I bought it from someone and it looks new but I don't know if he might have done something to reset the statistics to make it seem new or not.
Also, how much does it cost to replace the back cover of the iphone 3GS?
I can not find an estimate on how much it would cost.
    Thanks for your time!

    you can check that with
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
enter your serial number there normally every iphone
has 12 month warranty, it will show remaining period
and you can then get to the original purchase date

  • How can I REMOVE the iPhone Tethering Hack completely ?!

    <Edited by Host>
How can I completely REMOVE the tethering hack from my iPhone, and from iTunes/iMac ???
_*I WANT TO REMOVE IT, COMPLETELY*_
    • Do I have to reinstall OSX in order to regain my default settings in iTunes, and Terminal?
    • Since i had to put this (defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE) inside the terminal for the hack, can i just edit that?
+Somebody Please help. This hack is making my phone unstable, and unreliable.+

    Lots of misinformation floating around:
    1. You don't need to do anything to iTunes. You changed a property value that allowed iTunes to let you see the IPCC file and install it.
You can leave this, it is not hurting anything, just don't go looking to install IPCC files (iPhone Cell carrier file).
    2. This is not making your iPhone unstable. AT&T will release this same file when they allow tethering.
    3. If you want to get rid of it, you have 2 choices install an official AT&T carrier file (there is not one released for 3.0 yet), Or just restore your iPhone with Official 3.0 software but don't restore the backup. Set it up as new.
If your phone is unstable, you may have done other things - you don't say, so just set up as new.

  • Some questions regarding the iPhone app

Hi, I have an iPhone 6 Plus using the app version as I don't own a computer, and am currently on my second day of the 7-day Premium Free Trial period. I just have some questions I'd like to ask about it:
    1) I have an extremely large music library, and I'm pleased to see that Spotify has most of what I own. However, for the past several hours it refuses to let me add any new artists/albums/songs to my lists, and when a new album is added, it will vanish from the artist list the next time I turn on my phone. At the same time, I actually tried deleting one of my artists from my Artist list, only to have to reappear the same way. Is this an error, or is there a limit of how much content you can add to your lists?
    2) What happens when the 7-day trial period is over? Does it just start automatically billing me, or does it give the option of opting out?
Thanks for your help in advance. :)

Hello , Welcome to the community! :)
I am unaware of a bug like that, is their any chance that it could be fixed by now
If you gave payment info/subscribed via itunes then yes it will start billing you, you stop this by folowing these steps:
Canceling your subscription reverts your account to the Free level.
Go to the subscription page. (Note: If you don’t know your password, go here to reset it.)
Under Subscription and payment, click cancel your subscription.
Select a reason (select Other reasons if you're canceling for a promotion). Click CONTINUE.
    Click CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION.
Enter your password in the password field. Click CANCEL SPOTIFY PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION.
Your subscription page now shows the date you will revert to our Free ad-based service. We hope you decide to upgrade again!
Note: If you subscribed through any other company than Spotify, you need to contact that company to cancel. If your subscription is through iTunes, please see Apple's instructions for canceling.
    I hope this helped :)

Does anyone know if the video calls are only between you and other iPhone 4 owners? or will something like Skype be available for use with someone using Skype on a computer? i think this feature is cool, just not as cool if its only between iPhone 4 owners.
