A/R / A/P Aging question

Our customer frequently needs to run aging reports as of a date in the past (i.e. they are running 11/30/13 right now).  In order to get the report to tie to the trial balance, we need to select criteria to include customers/vendors with a -0- balance and Display Reconciled Transactions.  This results in a huge report that is almost useless.  We need the transactions that are reconciled within the period range in the selection criteria to NOT display; that data is irrelevant to the aging.  Many of the sales are point of sale so the invoice and payment occur at the same time, we don't want those included in the report.  Deselecting the "Display Reconciled transactions" omits balances that were outstanding as of 11/30 because they were reconciled after the period range selected.  Many reconciled transactions do not fall into the same aging buckets which is creating inaccurate aging balances.  For example if a invoice is due 9/30 and paid 10/21, on the 11/30 aging the invoice falls into 61-90 days and the payment falls in 31-60 days, therefore each of these bucket is off (and really it shouldn't show at all because it was reconciled at 11/30).  You'll see in the screen shots this output show the A/R 0-30 day balance as a negative, that is actually their largest balance.  In the other screen shot, you'll see where the payment and the invoice do not fall in the same aging bucket.
counting 101 so it not existing doesn't make sense.  Any insight would be great!!

  • AR Open Items and Aging question

    Hi
I have one question on AR Open Items aging. If Doc 100000 is posted on 4/1 with amount 25. Suppose it is cleared on 4/8. Now i get two records to BI. One will replace the existing record with Clearing Doc no and other one new posting for the clearing doc.
    Delta load on 4/1/2011
Posting Date     Doc no     Amount      Clearing Doc
    4/1/2011     1000000     25
    Delta load on 4/8/2011
    4/1/2011     1000000     25     1000025
    4/8/2011     1000025     -25     1000025
My question is If I run the Aging report on 4/9/2011 with key date value 4/1/2011 will the result show 25 amount as Open item or cleared item?
If I want to show status of the document as of old date, Should I take daily snapshots of the data?
Please let me know your thoughts!
    Thank you
    Sree

    HI Sree..
That document was open on 4/1/2011......and was cleared on 4/8/2011................
If you execute the R/3 report FBL5N (Customer Line Item Display) with the "Open at key date" 4/1/2011.........the report will show the document as open item.....
What your Aging Report in the BI side will show it depeds on the design of the report.....but as per my understanding if the Query get executed with key date value 4/1/2011 ....then the report should show the document as Open Item..
In that case the restricted keyfigure should design in such a way that it will compare the Clearing Date with the Key date......if the Key Date < Clearing date then the document will be trreated as an Open Item........if Key Date >= Clearing date then the Document will be displayed as an Open Item.........
We are also using such a report.......Infact we have also designed in such a way so that the report can display how old the document is 90 days, 30 days....etc. by giving the Offset value......
But frankly speaking it depends on your requirement and the design of the Query....

    Debjani......

  • Service Request Aging Question

    Here is my issue:
Service request is created in call center say 01/01/2009, the call center agent may need to request additional information before putting the SR in a queue to be worked.
Person calls back, additional information is added to request on 01/05/2009 and the ticket is assigned to Department A's queue.
Department A now has a SR that is 5 days old, when in fact they just received it.
If I run a report on 01/06/09 I need to be able to show that ticket as being 1 day old in the queue of Department A, but 6 days old over all. I cannot figure out how to show this in the output.
Is there anyway to report on the audit trail, or report at what point the queue value is changed?
    Thank you for your time.
    Jamie

When Department A gets the case transferred to them why don't u create an automatic task that would show when the case got transferred and then build the report of the SR-Activities section.
Another way would be to populate a date field automatically when the case is transferred. But this may not be a viable solution as you may have a number of Departments and it s not good to create a field for every department.

  • Connecting old ipod to stereo amp & volumes

i have connected an old ipod nano 2gb to my main amp and speaker system . The ipod volume is at 100% and is sort of ok to listen to but produces less volume than when using other input sources such as an fm tuner or xm radio. QUESTION: does the age or type of ipod have any imact? will a newer model ipod produce more volume ? Thank you in advancec for an answer.

    hi mike,
i never asked myself about that AGE question but i have a 1º gen ipod shuffle (the usb stick) and i have the same volume problem...
i cant put the ipod volume up to 100% otherwise the sound from my hifi speakers will distort and give a horrible scratchy sound as if it is vibrating of to much bass...
so i let my ipod volume at usual headphone level and turn volume up on my amp using my RCA-3.5" ipod cable - but sometimes i forget to low it back to CD level and when i switch to another source i get heart attacks from the blasting volume
im looking to get a 5º gen ipod nano since i dont need the gadgets of the touch but like to see my song list, which the mini hasnt so since i only have 6gb of mp3, the 8gb model is enought at 140€
i will get back to you to see if the volume distorded sound still persists in NEW ipods

  • Report Builder Question - OA AR Aging - and a general question

I'm sure this is the wrong forum for this question, but I thought there might be someone here who might be using Oracle Applications and Report Builder who'd be kind enough to help me out.
We've recently implemented Oracle Applications 11.5.10 and I have to use report builder to change the Accounts Receiveable Aging (7 bucket) to a 5 bucket report. I've already made some changes to the seeded "ARXAGMW.rdf" report, but I'm not a big Oracle Reports guy. I've stumbled through making some changes in various other reports. But this one is just plain nasty! :)
I was thinking that I could simply add buckets 6 & 7 to bucket 5, then just hide or delete the 6 & 7 buckets. But I'm not sure where to even start. Any help with this would GUARANTEE a Christmas or other holiday card this year! :)
I really want to keep this simple as possible, so any help would be very....helpful. :)
Oh, my general question is: Are there any resouces/books for Oracle Reports (Report Builder)? I feel so lost trying to modify existing reports, let alone creating new ones.
    Thanks again!

    Hi Steve,
I am working on the 7-bucket aging report and i want to add a new field in data model.
As the query is build dynamically, i have modified the function BUILD_CUSTOMER_SELECT to meet my requirements.
But the problem is that in the data model, the field is not present in my Grouping. and if I try to add the field in the Data Model query (Q_ Customer) section,
i get the following error: ORA-01789: query block has incorrect number of result columns.

  • Questionable graphics problem on Macbook Pro 13" in Age of Empires III, SOS

    Hey!
I was playing Age of Empires III today. I set the settings so that I got between 30-40 fps in FRAPS. Everything was running smoothly accept one really annoying thing. Whenn I scroll over the map, the picture kinda lags, it stops and jumps. But the FPS is stable at 30-40. So I tried to lower the graphics. Got 70-80 fps, but still the same lag. What problem can this be

I've played it for about an hour each stretch (more would make me feel guilty) graphics set at default high and I noticed a bit of heat but nothing out of the ordinary.
I have installed the update. No issues.
Let me know if you have other questions.
(could you please mark that my post as helpful? I could use the points. Thanks!)

How do I change my security questions? I forget them because I made them ages ago and can't seem to buy anything off my account without having to answer them?? Help

    1. First, go to http://appleid.apple.com. Underneath where it says "Already have an Apple ID?," click Manage your Account. You will then need to sign in. If you forgot your Apple ID or password, click on the appropriate "Forgot..." link below either of these fields.
    2. After you sign in, click on "Passwords and Security" on the left.
    3. You will be asked to answer the security questions, but you should also notice a link below the second "Answer" field offering to send reset instructions to your rescue email address that you provided.
    4. Check the Inbox of your rescue email address. The email should appear within a minute or two. If it does not, be sure to check Spam. If it is not there either, you can repeat the above process to resend. Once you get the email, following the link will take you to a page where you must sign in again. After doing so, you will have the option to choose three new security questions and answers, which you may want to write down
    5. After you fill in the required information and continue, you should be taken to a confirmation screen stating "Your password and security information has been saved," and then you are done.
    6. The "Forgot your answers?" link will not appear if you do not have a rescue email address set up. In that case you will need to contact iTunes Support, http://apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
    7. If you still know the answers to your security questions, it is highly recommended you add a rescue email address. To do so, log in at appleid.apple.com and click on Password and Security. Answer the questions and then click on "Add Rescue Email Address:"

  • Aging report question

I am modifying the SAP supplied Customer Aging Report. In the "Repetitive_Area", all the columns, i.e., Document, Post Date, Amount, Balance have the field SOURCE TYPE set as "Free Text" and yet it prints the actual data. I can't seem to find how it is pulling the actual data from the report.
Can someone please help me solve that mystery?
    Thanks

    Hi,
The free text data is hardcoded by SAP. It is not possible to find in report.

  • Question about customer aging report

    Greetings,
One of our Business One consultants needs the information from the customer aging report under the financials\accounting\aging section of Business One. I am trying to help him do this but I do not know how to find the query or stored procedure that is executed to produce this report. Does anyone know the answer to this or maybe know how I can find out what query is executed?
    Thanks.

As you know there is two ways of generating customer recevieable report:
    1. By Journal Entry
    2. By Sales Documents
I can not find a stored procedure also, but after analyze SBO-application queries it uses this query:
SBO query to get customer with balance
    SELECT T0.CardCode, T0.CardName, T0.Balance, T0.BalanceFC, T0.BalanceSys, T0.Currency, T0.DunTerm, T1.MonthDays, T1.YearDays, T1.YearlyRate, T1.MaxLevel FROM  [dbo].[OCRD] T0   LEFT OUTER  JOIN [dbo].[ODUT] T1  ON  T1.TermCode = T0.DunTerm   WHERE T0.CardType = N'C'  AND  (((T0.Currency = N'NOK'  OR  T0.Currency = N'##' ) AND  T0.Balance <> 0 ) OR  (T0.Currency <> N'NOK'  AND  T0.Currency <> N'##'  AND  T0.BalanceFC <> 0 ))  ORDER BY T0.CardCode
Then send CardCode variable to this query that retreives selected customer:
    SELECT T0.BatchNum, T0.TransId, T0.TransType, T0.CreatedBy, T1.RefDate, T1.DueDate, T1.LineMemo, T0.Ref1, T1.Credit, T1.Debit, T1.FCCredit, T1.FCDebit, T1.SYSCred, T1.SYSDeb, T1.SourceLine, T1.Ref1, T1.Account FROM  [dbo].[OJDT] T0  INNER  JOIN [dbo].[JDT1] T1  ON  T1.TransId = T0.TransId   WHERE T1.ShortName = N'10001' AND T1.IntrnMatch = 0   ORDER BY T1.DueDate
Antoher easy way is ot create a query like this
(ref.SAP Note 740241 - User Report for days over duedate on AR Invoice):
    SELECT T0.CardCode, T0.CardName, T0.DocDueDate, Convert(numeric, GetDate()) - convert(numeric, T0.DocDueDate ) as 'Days After DueDate', T0.DocTotal, T0.PaidToDate, (T0.DocTotal - T0.PaidToDate) as 'Debt' FROM OINV T0 WHERE T0.DocStatus = 'O' and Convert (char, T0.DocDueDate, 103) <= convert(char, GetDate(),103) FOR BROWSE
    Hope this helps

  • The age-old "Discoverer vs. Crystal" question

I am an Oracle DBA by default (got thrown into the position, with no training or opportunity for same). I'm learning on the job.
One of my primary responsibilities has become the analysis, construction, verification and delivery of reports from our Oracle-based application database. I have relied primarily on Crystal, because I'm familiar with it and it gives me flexibility (both in terms of connecting the needed data AND report layout).
My users, however, are building their own reports in Discoverer, which is great (for me).
We have a few different types of reports: some are simple row/column lists, some are more complex summarized or cross-tabbed lists, some are forms (complicated layout, embedded subreports, shading, borders, etc). Another common request is a non-reused report: usually simple rows/columns, and will probably be built/used only one time -- but the user does not have the knowledge or time to build it.
Data sources range from linked tables to stored procedures built exclusively for the purposes of generating the report. Most, but not all, of our reports are built allowing for parameterized input by the end user.
I currently use our Sharepoint intranet to make my Crystal reports available. I have security groups set up that "mirror" our database roles, and I make reports visible only to those users who should have need of them.
I'm planning for the future, and would like to streamline things. Ideally, there'd be ONE site where people could go to run reports, but that site would include all "simple" reports as well as the more complicated, and security would be enforced as it is now: users only see those reports that they should be able to run.
My question (finally!) is this: for those more complicated reports, with the sophisticated layouts -- can I use Discoverer? I'm starting to upgrade our system to BI 10g, and so see that there's now the lovely Discoverer Viewer, which I think will come in handy. But I don't see anything in Discoverer that will allow me to build these complicated layouts. Am I missing something?
Is there one tool that I can use to do the complicated reports, but my users can use to build simple query output? Is Discoverer that tool?
AND -- if anyone has any good examples of "report menu" sites -- places where your users can access all your internal reports, no matter the tool used to build the report -- I'd love to see 'em.
    Thanks

    Hi
Asking whether Discoverer is the tool within a Discoverer forum is an interesting question because you'll get a loaded answer. There's a lot of different factors to be taken into consideration and I'm sure you will have some answers suggesting OBI EE's tool which is BI Answers.
The short and the long of it is that Discoverer is a relatively cheap (pricewise) BI tool, probably one of the cheapest in the market and certainly one of the easiest to use. OBIEE is a very sophisticated toolset which can certainly handle complex reports but is rather pricy - approximately 8 times more per CPU than Discoverer. Does it have 8 times the functionality? Now there's another loaded question. Having worked with Discoverer now for the best part of 12 years I can honestly say that I do not see an 8 times improvement in OBIEE when compared to Discoverer. Now of course I'm biased - I will openly admit that.
I will also say that I have a full in-depth understanding of Discoverer and can generally get it to do things that others say it cannot do.
I do not have the same in-depth understanding of OBIEE so I will have to focus my answer on Discoverer.
In my opinion, Discoverer is the perfect launch point for business intelligence. Coming as it does as part of the Oracle BI suite you will not be locked into it should you wish to upgrade down the road. Oracle is constantly adding inter-operability to Discoverer and very soon you will be able to use many of the OBIEE tools sitting on top of and pulling data provided by Discoverer. There are 1000s and 1000s of Discoverer licenses in use and Oracle knows this.
Personally, if you already have Discoverer in-house I would say go for it and attempt to build the complex reports you are referring to. You'll probably need to do some database work behind the scenes, maybe creating a data mart to support the requirements. Then you can take advantage of the BI features within the database, features such as partitioning, bitmap indexes and materialized views to name but three.
If you yourself have not yet mastered Discoverer either as an administrator or as an end user you will struggle. However, this is not the fault of the tool. What you need is to get some training. This way you will maximize your company's investment and you'll be able to decide whether it can give you what you need, at least in the short term. There are many places you can go to get training and my company is one of them. I like to think that we know it a little better than most because I wrote the Oracle Discoverer10g Handbook.
It's your decision though but I would strongly consider getting yourself trained. You also want to make sure that you have the most up to date version of Discoverer installed otherwise you're already setting yourself up for failure.
    Does this help?
    Best wishes

  • Ages old question: transfer all disk content to new MacBook Pro

Dear all. I know this question has been asked zillion times before but the answers confuse me. I have a new MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard (not Lion yet) and want to transfer all contents of my white MacBook 2008 (No FireWire !!) to the new one. I have a wireless network. Should I make a fresh backup with Time Machine to a external disk and then connect the new MacBook to that or would it be better to do it with Migration Assistant over my wireless network. In the last case, how long would 300 GB content take ? Thanks so much !

Some argue Migration Assistant from TM works but creates more headaches. This you can run after you've already set up a new machine.
Some argue that Setup Assistant from TM is better than MA above, that what occurs when you start the machine (or run OSX) for the first time.
You can also T boot the old Mac with a Firewire cable and transfer that way as well in either of the above cases or manually. I haven't tried with MA/SA yet, just manually.
Some people prefer to not have everything transferred over and then have to pick through and toss the old garbage afterwards possibly making their machines slow. As MA and SA have no brains, it's a blind copy. Some have privacy issues and don't want old application cache files tagging along for the ride.
I'm one of those that a new machine gets all fresh copies of current software and then picks out just the gems from another drive.
One is going to perform work either removing stuff and missing things and having a slowdown possibility, or one works to installs all fresh copies and keeps their machine from possibly slowing down.
So that's it. It's debatable and up to you which way you want to go about it.
The SA/MA route can bring over old programs that still run, so you don't have to need a paid upgrade.
But I figure if one is dropping several thousand on a new box, what's a few hundred more for current versions of software so there is no issues?
Guess it depends what is on the MacBook and how out of shape it is. Likely a pristine machine with little or no system level hooks or other garbage involved will MA/SA just fine. Garbage in = Garbage out.

  • Age old questions parallels vs. boot camp

I have heard for a while that bootcamp was better then parallels but now that parallels has revamped its approach does any have any thoughts I will be buying something soon whats your thoughts

    Hi,
although Parallels has revamped, the main differences between BootCamp and Paralells still remain the same.
If you need 'full-speed' of Windows on a Mac and/or use programs that need to have direct access to the hardware, then you have to use BootCamp.
Especially when you are planning to run hardware-accelerated-graphics, like games.
For an every-day usage of Windows 'Office-like' programs and/or if you need to run Mac OSX programs and Windows programs concurrently, then Parallels (or VMWare Fusion or VirtualBox) are more suitable.
Before buying any Virtualization app, have a look at VirtualBox http://www.virtualbox.org/ . It's Open Source and free to use and has made some great progress in the last months.
    Hope it helps
