A REAL newbie question ... does Acrobat allow cutting pages?

I did some searches of the forums and didn't find anyone asking a question this simplistic... (Uh oh.)
I've used Adobe Reader (who hasn't?), but am considering buying Acrobat ... IF it allows me to cut pages from existing pdf files (e.g., have an existing exam we got from another teacher, that's in pdf format, but it covers an entire semester of a course my husband teaches, and he wants it chopped up into individual "chapter" tests ...)
Can I delete pages if I have Acrobat? I'm getting the sense that PASTING can get sort of complicated, but I'd only need to do cutting ...

As Pages templates cannot be ordered in folders, my many templates are effectively unusable now and I need to find another way to order and access them.

Are you aware of that you can still use Pages 09 on Mavericks? You don't have to go thru the grieves of using the crippled Pages 5. Pages 09 should bi in Applications/iWork 09 folder.

Stupid question: Does Acrobat X1 exist as a standalone product?

Total Newbie. Forgive me. I need Acrobat for a writing project. I can't seem to find a simple purchase and download option for a basic standalone software package. I've never run into so many dead ends trying to make a simple purchase. Everything seems to be tied up in some sort of cloud membership requiring monthly payments. I just want a program that can edit pdf files. Nothing fancy. Does this even exist? Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction.

Does Acrobat allow paper forms?

I want to design and make various forms. I was told that Acrobat might be able to do this. The forms that I want to make would be in paper form when printed out. Most likely, I do not need to have any sort of computer needs beyond using the computer to design them (drawing the borders & lines, adding text boxes, text and arranging them). Does anyone know if Acrobat would allow this. Thanks in advance.

If you want to design paper-based forms you most likely want to use a program like Illustrator or even Photoshop. You might even use Word, but I'd never use Acrobat.

This must be a real newbie question but...

I have uploaded my iCal to .mac but can't find it. How do I find it? If I click the button next to iCal it comes up with a page telling me how great iCal is and what I can do with it, but I can't find how to access the calendar

The URL that Ferd II quoted will get your calendar for you - but it needs one edit. The last element in the URL requires a capital, so in the example is needs to be .../Yourcalendarname
Or you can access the URL directly in iCal. Click on the name of the calendar in the Calendars list on the left. On the information panel on the right click on the word "published" and then you will see the option to copy the URL to your clipboard or to view the calendar on .Mac in Safari.
And if you have several calendars in iCal you can combine them and publish that combined collection to .Mac as one calendar. Use File > New Calendar Group

Newbie Q: Does Portal allow StyleSheets and imbedded Java Applets

Thanks for your time toi read my post.
We currently have a requirement to store Military Operations Analysis data for our simulation studies. Our broad requirements cover:
1, Storing and presenting country data including sub catergories such as: Current Government; Military Orders of Battle; Base Locations and details etc. Basically organised document relation storage.
2, Storing and presenting detailed platform data (aircraft, ships etc) down to the individual field level, including sub system data such as senor and weapon system details. This needs to be done in such a way that our Visual and Analysis sub systems can extract specific fields of data from the Database (such as ranges, fuel loads etc). At the "Portal" level it just needs a nice user interface to enter in this large amount of data aswell as view it nicely.
With the country data we wish to enter data in at the sub catergory level. Such that the document included will only detail information about that sub catergory such as demographics. We then need a way to display this information based in a template or style sheet, when displayed overviews can be seen. An example might be for a country overview template we may define for the HTML page to show:
+ top left of the page has the country map (image)
+ top right the text of the country
+ First 10 lines are on the government, (with a more button to see the whole document)
+ Next 10 lines are military power, (with a more button to see the whole document)
+ etc.
For the detail platform data we need some nice GUIs to enter in these moderately large amounts of data (approxmately 30 fields per sub system, ~3-7 sub systems to a platform). Perhaps some tabbed layouts using Java widgets or Dynamic HTML to ease the viewing and entering of the data. From our trials with WebDB, using HTML forms did not work at all.
Given your knowledge of Oracle Portal, how hard is to generate dynamic HTML as per the ideals for the country data and are Java inserts fairly easy to acheive working with the Oracle database backend?

You probably put Midi loops (green) on audio tracks, and audio loops (blue) on Midi tracks.

Does Adobe allow fallbacks to CS3 from CS4?

We have several workstations with CS3 Prod. Premium and purchased a CS4 Prod. Premium version for a new workstation. It has been impossible to use, as CS4 and Cineform are not working together. Since we are a Cineform shop, we need a working version of Prod. Premium with that program.
My question: does Adobe allow "fallback" to CS3 (with a serial number) from CS4? Or are we stuck with a $1700 CS4 doorstop?

I don't use Cineform, so this is merely conjecture, but isn't there a new-ish version of the codecs/plugins that is CS4-compatible? I seem to remember others posting that older versions of Cineform's products wouldn't work in CS4, and that an update was necessary (again, I didn't follow too closely, not being a Cineform user). Or is it the new version that's giving you problems? If so, you might want to contact Cineform, as CS4--especially with the last update--has been pretty stable and usable.

Ho do I disconnect the "warning" of a web page trying to redirect from the "Firefox did not allow this page to reload"? I want the first, but not the second option.

The new firefox now does not allow many pages to reload. I must click the "allow" button and still it often does not allow a reload. I know I can disable the function, but then I must also disable the warning if a page tries to redirect to a new site. So...Why must I give up a security feature to get rid of an annoying reload issue? I want to be notified when a page tries to redirect, but I don't want an "argument" from the system every time I try to reload specific web sites. How can I keep one and disable the other?

you need to encode the href so that it can be sent as a parameter value. Otherwise it interprets the & as a standard parameter separator.
I believe the window.escape function should do this

ERecruiting - Data Overview - "Acrobat does not allow connection to..."

Hello gurus,
how is it going?
I'm facing one strange problem in eRecruiting.
We've got customized smartforms for Candidate and Requisition overview.
On Candidate overview we've got part, where URL links of assigned requisitions are shown.
By opening these links, it should open Requisition overview page.
But when I want to open this link, I'm getting popup window, where is written:
"Acrobat Does not allow connection to..."
I've got Acrobat Reader X, I've updated "Trust manager" and "Security (Enhanced)" also in Page preferences.
But still facing this error.
Could you advice me, how I can solve it?
I've already read many pages on google, but still nothing....

first I have a question:
You say you have the Candidate Overview Smartforms containing links to a requisition Smartforms?
So this is a custom development isn't it?
Is the Adobe Acrobat opening within a Browser window or as a dedicated programme?
If Adobe is opened separately please check, that the Browser Integration of Adobe is active within Adobe's settings.
Links within Smartforms are relative links in general and therefore just working when called in-browser.

I had Acrobat XI Pro Trial installed on W8.1, and I had to uninstall it because issues with MS Office 2010. Now I try to reinstall Acrobat and It does not allow me to use the trial version anymore even it was not over. What to do??

Well, I had installed in my new computer a trial version from Acrobat XI Pro, but I had issues with Microsoft Word 2010, since it did not allow me to save changes on my file. I uninstalled it from my computer before the trial period was over, and then, after I solved the issue with Office, I wanted to get it back for a time, but the installer does not allow me to choose Trial Version. I can reach that screen where you choose between key and trial, but once I press trial and click on next, it does absolutely nothing at all.
I have tried to manually delete folders, and I even used CC Clean to make a registry set up, but nothing out of that is working for me at all, and it keeps happening. I have no really idea what to do, and I kinda need to use Acrobat immediately for a file.

The trial can only be loaded 1 time as far as I know. You could try http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, remove any left over parts of the Acrobat folder, and reboot. Then try an install again, but my guess is you will have to purchase Acrobat at this point.

Newbie Question about FM 8 and Acrobat Pro 9

I have some dcouments that I've written in FM v8.0p277. I print them to PDF so that I can have a copy to include on a CD and I also print some hard copies.
My newbie question is whether there is a way to create a PDF for hard copy where I mainitain the colors in photos and figures but that the text that is hyperlinked doesn't appear as blue. I want to keep the links live within the soft copy. Is there something I can change within Frame or with Acrobat?

How comes the text is blue in the first place? I guess the cross-reference formats use some character format which makes them blue? There are many options:
Temporarily change the color definition for the color used in the cross-reference format to black.
Temporarily change the character format to not use that color.
Temporarily change the cross-reference definition to not used that character format.
Whichever method you choose, I would create a separate document with the changed format setting and import those format into your book, create the PDF and then import the same format from the official template.

Acrobat does not allow connection to

Need help with this error message please. Using Win7, saved a Word 2010 table of contents with multiple links to pdf files across internal servers as a PDF. Also created the word doc w/multiple pdf links as a PDF file using acrobat9 standard and have same problems. when a user with Adobe Reader 8+ clicks on a pdf link in the PDF table of contents file, they get an error message Acrobat does not allow connection to: and they cannot open the linked file. However, I am able to open the files using the same links with both reader and acrobat.
This worked previously until we upgraded to these versions of software... the error message shows a number of % signs and multiple ////. However, i can open the fiile but others cannot.
anyone have any ideas or is this a fix that i need to download?

not sure where my previous reply went; however, there are numerous machines at varuious sites that will be accessing this server/folder. I am not sure if it is a trusted sites issue as the file lists numerous PDF links and some of them open to the respective pdf file and others recieve the mssage. All the files reside on the same server within the same main folder and within subfolders. never had the problem before. the users can open some of the linked files and others the connection msg appears. I however, am able to open the same links they get the error on. I am totally baffled by this and have been troubleshooting for weeks now. I just had acrobat X installed to see if that would help but still problem. I also saved the word doc (2010) as pdf (which lists the links to the other pdfs) but users still have same problem. there are approx 75 links within this doc and I truly hope we don't have to relink everything..
