A replaced battery's warranty - MacBook Pro

I bought a new battery from Apple in February of 2011, by July of 2011 it was dead and not charging (with something like 20 cycles).  I took it into the Apple store and they replaced it.  Now it is May of 2012 and my battery is dead once again with only 57 cycles.
Does the 1 year warranty only apply to the original purchase date of February 2011, or because I was given a new battery, is there a one year warranty from that time on July 2011?
So in other words, is this covered under the battery's 1 year warranty?

Calibrating a portable computer battery
Whenever you purchase new batteries, calibrate them.  Was this done?

  • Where can i order a replacement battery for my Macbook Pro

My battery is completely dead now and i cant even get my macbook on without it plugged in, and even then it struggles. i know its an easy change so rather than pay alot to get someone else to do it id rather change it myself and save some money. The model i need is an A1309.
    Thanks

Try iFixit.com or Powerbookmedic.com.  Amazon has had what appear to be OEM Apple batteries but I do not guarantee that.
Anything on e-bay is suspect and you may be just throwing your money away by purchasing  there.
If you want certainty, get it from Apple and you will also get a warranty,
    Ciao.

  • Where can I procure a replacement battery for a MacBook Pro model 6.2?  I've tried Other World Computing without success.

This is for my wife's 15" MBP model 6.2.

Hi, I read the post about calibration and I probably do that a little too often TBH! As I get so little time out the battery and mainly use my MBP on my lap, usually with the power supply near by, it gets charged to full, run to empty to the point of sleep, or sometimes it even cuts out and then is recharged to full again, so I really think it's new battery time. I've seen non Apple Official ones for between £35 and £65 that have 3 year warranties and state they are around 5200mh but am unsure due to reviews.
    Later...
Anyway's I have now ordered a non Apple replacement from Amazon for about £35 and it has several good reviews and 4.5 out of 5 stars so I'll see if it works and report back. If it doesn't I'll send it back and get the Official Apple one.

  • How do i replace the battery in a Macbook Pro?

Need to replace battery in my Macbook Pro. How do I do this?

I would take it to an authorized service place (unless you have a very old MBP with a user replaceable battery).

  • The battery for my macbook pro 13 says "service battery".  Now I want to get a replacement but the reviews for it are horrible! Does anybody have any suggestions?

The battery for my macbook pro 13 says "service battery".  Now I want to get a replacement but the reviews for it are horrible! Does anybody have any suggestions? I don't want to spend 130 dollars on something I'm going to have to replace in less than a year (which is what normally I been reading)  I do design work and I take my mac everywhere.  Having to always look for a plug or having to be constantly plugged in doesn't sound ideal to me.  Please help me. what should I do???

Why does it matter if it a scam????? I'll let you figure that out by yourself.  If I'm going to replace it, why should I be contempt with a battery that I have to replace within months (as stated by some people in the comments). The issue here is not if I should or not replace it OBVIOUSLY I'm going to have to before it starts going crazy.  The underlying issue is why is the replacement battery for a lack of better words " a bit crap."  It comes with a 3 month guarantee?? Is that a joke?!??!?! Some people complained it malfunction after only 8- 9 months? I'm sorry but as an Apple fan I think it's absolutely rubbish. I know there is no magic cure I'm just hoping someone shines the light on how crappy this replacement is.

  • How do i know if I need to replace the battery in my MacBook Pro?

How do i know if I need to replace the battery in my MacBook Pro?

There are a few ways (none of which are covered in the above link). On more recent OS X versions, when you click the battery icon in the menu bar you may see a "Service Battery" or "Replace Now" message. If you aren't seeing that, the system probably thinks the battery is fine.
Also, in your System Information utility, there is a Power section that provides Health information for the battery, with a Condition status and Cycle Count. If the Condition is Normal and your battery is under 300 cycles (for removable batteries) or 1000 cycles (for non-removable batteries) it is not time to replace it yet.
But of course, the other time to replace it is if you don't think you're getting the runtime you want out of it.
If none of those is a problem, don't worry about it.

  • TS1388 My battery on my macbook pro all of a sudden keeps using the battery power really quickly, so I am having to rechareg it constantly.  Does anyone know why this occurs or how to fix it.  I have used all the energy saving tips.

Hi My battery on my macbook pro keeps running low on power very quickly and I have to keep recharging it.  This has never happened before. I have used all the power saver options, but it keeps happening.  Can anyone help. The battery seems to be losing power even when it is turned off.

    Hi BigThinker,
How old is your Mac? If it is an older one, then the battery may just be dying. You can check by clicking on the Apple in the upper left-hand corner, then clicking on About This Mac>More Info>System Report, then click on Power (about half way down the list). At the top of the resulting display, you should see the following type of info:
The Health Information will tell you if your battery is going to need replacement soon. If it says Normal, then it is not the battery.
    Cheers,

  • Battery issues on Macbook Pro 15" A1286 (late 2008)

I am having battery issues with my Macbook Pro 15" A1286 (late 2008) model. My battery does not hold a charge for more than about an hour. It only has 287 cycles, so far less than the suggested 500 cycles, and something seems to be wrong with it - the back panel that holds the battery seems not to be attached as it should, as if the battery is pushing the cover out a little bit. Even my trackpad seems to be acting a little funny - it doesn't click in the same way or as easily as it used to.
In my use of the computer, I have routinely let it run on battery power only and cycle out, but most of the time, I am running it with the power cord attached.
Does this mean I need to replace the battery? I am out of AppleCare, and did not want to pay for a support question if I'm only going to be told that the battery needs to be replaced.
I do not have an Apple Store very close to me - it is a long drive that I cannot make on a business day because I have to be at work. I ordered my computer online and have not had any issues until now - though I once contacted AppleCare with some questions.
Has anyone had a similar experience, and can offer some guidance?
    Thank you very much.

    J G B,
Did you purchase an 'official' Apple battery? Batteries do some things well and have a long lifespan if well cared for, doesn't do some things so well (playing games, watching videos, etc.) and you can shorten the lifespan of a battery by how you use it.
But you should be able to get more than 2 hours out of a new battery (depending on how you're using it). If you're within 90 days of purchase, I would return th unit and ask for a new battery.

  • Where can I buy a battery for a MacBook Pro 17", year 2010?

Where can I buy a battery for a MacBook Pro 17", year 2010?
Already saw how to replace on youtube:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42qcvlftmcM
Now I'm looking for a seller on e-bay. Anyone has bought recently and can refer?
All tips are welcome and thanks in advance!

Personally, I wouldn't purchase a battery from eBay for an expensive MBP.  What you get is what you paid for (buyer beware).
Call around to your local AS or AASP for prices.  Do a Google or Bing search.

  • Losing my battery life for macbook pro very fast

I charge my battery for my macbook pro retina and i keep losing battery life very fast ?
    Please help

I've done my research and could not find a decent article for my Macbook Pro Retina Mid2014.
    Review these link:
Considerations for the long life of your MacBook. Handling and environmental care tips
The tips helped me out the most compared to the other links that can be found. Not sure why your battery life isn't lasting you though. You may need to get it checked by Apple. Try the Apple Support--if you got yours new, you have 90 days free support.
Thankfully, I never had issues with the battery life but I did replace my first Macbook a few days after purchasing. Thankfully, I was still within 14 days so had it replaced by Best Buy, no question asks as long as you brought everything including receipts.
Out of curiosity, can you click on APPLE logo > About this Mac > System Report > Power
Copy & paste the Battery Information.
For some reason, I am having issues copying & pasting my information.
    Charge Information:
    Charge Remaining (mAh): 6062
    Fully Charged: No
    Charging: Yes
    Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 8816
    Health Information:
    Cycle Count: 4
    Amperage (mA): 4806
    Voltage (mV): 12498
I have my screen dimmed since I don't really like it too bright and I have my keyboards lights off unless it's at night and I need to see the keyboard for whatever reason. There is really no real reason for me to have the keyboard lights on anyway other than to make it looks nice. My laptop had lasted me maybe about 7+ hours (maybe even more) if I get it down really low. I've got it down to 10% the first time I used it just to see and then since then, I've been trying to charge from 30%+ and when I am streaming, I keep it plugged in.
I don't ever plan on leaving it plugged in over night or while on sleep mode for a long period of time. Never do a battery calibration since it's not necessary for the new Macbook Retinas.

  • Can I change a new battery for my MacBook Pro 15' Retina? How?

Can I change a new battery for my MacBook Pro 15' Retina? How?

    Hi!
About a month ago, my MBPr 15", mid 2012 (Model Identifier10,1) showed, at first, Battery Service warning and on the next day X over the battery icon with Battery Not Available message in the status. MBP would run only and while the charger was plugged in, plug led would be always green, when connected. Battery test third party sw would not detect the battery, any longer.
Replacing upper case with battery/keyboard/trackpad, as per Apple,  in my country was too expensive, over 1000 USD, did't make any sense to me, so I've chosen DIY option (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLhHSIej9fs) with all necessary precautions like tools, ESD protection grounded pad in place and ordered "new" replacement battery from Hong Kong on Ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/400699766989?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STR K%3AMEBIDX%3AIT).
Yesterday I came in new packing/sealed, I installed it, plugged the power cable on, plug led would turn green and then orange, I thought it's ok, but once system booted, I saw again X over battery icon and "Battery Not Available". I checked all the hints on internet, tried several times SMC and EPRON resets, no success. I filed complaint to Ebay supplier, he replied that battery undergone test prior the shipment, but ready for return and refund.
So, I can make another try and buy the battery from Ebay but what if the problem is with my logic board? From one hand charger plug led lights orange when connected to MBP, on another hand System doesn't see the battery at all: No battery in the System info/Hardware/Power. it works absolutely fine when plugged-in to charger. I ran extended AHT (over pressed "D" key while powering on) twice with No Problem in return. So, my question is does it ultimately mean that Logic Board and power circuits are all fine and the whole thing is about "new bad" battery? I there any way to entirely test Logic board and narrow down problem origin?
Thank you for attention in advance,
    Nurlan
