Your new Illustrator CS5 announcement has some appreciated new features like perspective drawing, reordering artboards, outputting specific artboard pages, improved paste inside, and stroke enhancements. This edition is bringing more for Illustrator users to love and thanks to you, David Macy, and the AI team. As a former FreeHand user, I appreciate seeing those features make it into Illustrator.
With this new announcement, there are still FreeHand users crying for their old program. It’s been 4+ years and they obviously are not going to like whatever enhancements you add for them. Yes, I made the switch but I’ve come to understand that not everyone will do it. Old habits die hard especially when it comes to workflow and deadlines. So, maybe giving them back their old program isn’t such a bad idea and I have a suggestion. You have some experience with open-source from your days at Sun Microsystems, like Star Office and Solaris. Sun apparently was able to balance profit and community participation so why don’t you open source FreeHand under the Adobe banner and pipeline any new features into AI? We can get more features created for Illustrator and still have the integration with the rest of the CS applications. The FreeHand users get their old program back and maybe learn and appreciate Illustrator in the process.
Adobe is always better when it has a little competition to keep you on your toes. At this point nothing can touch Illustrator in market share and it’s been the industry standard for years. So, if you don’t want to go the open-source route, then sell off FreeHand. We have all it’s features anyway and what damage could a small developer do to AI’s market share?

CS5 Illustrator has reordering artboards? I'm glad to hear it--I was just cussing at CS4 this morning for it's inability to pull of this most basic of expectations. I had to do all kinds of moving things around just to get around the shortcoming and create a pdf with pages in the right order! It would've been that or reordering pages in Acrobat Pro, and both options had me grumbling. Tell me, does each new page have the rulers reset so it respects the page you created, instead of referring back to the first page when you created a new document? This is another thing that's been driving me nuts. FreeHand always had so much intelligence around the reordering and rulers aspect of multipaging.
I'll get behind your proposal. There's much to miss about FreeHand's speed and ease of use.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Problem with rescheduled meeting request from a LotusNotes user. How can I get it to process on my iPad/iCloud account?

When I receive an original meeting request from a LotusNotes user, I can select the .ics attachment and it gives me an option to "add to calendar" which will place it on my calendar. However, when I receive a rescheduled meeting notification, I get an email with the .ics attachment but it does nothing when I try to select it from the email. There is no "add to calendar" or anything. How can I get the reschedule information to make the appropriate changes in my iPad/iCloud calendar?
I have tried from my iPad email and from my online iCloud interface and neither seems to work.

iBooks only syncs purchased books. Others must be synced in iTunes.

User role for service requests from the SSP

Does the End User role have enough permissions for users to create service requests from the SSP? I know for incidents it is but I am not sure about service requests. If you go through the Service Catalog Checklist, step 5 to create the User
Role brings up a new role based on the Author role and not on the end user.

Unfortunately there's no way around this. you will need that password to update the apps. If he won't give it to you, then i'm not sure what to say.
You should have kept the account with the Apps you bought yourself.
Otherwise, as I said, delete the Apps, and buy them again.

Stop the report from firing until the user clicks the Go button?

Hi All,
Is there a way to stop the report from firing until the user clicks the Go button? At the moment it is populating when I open the dashboard page. I found something online that said i could use the Page Options>Save Current Settings> For Others.. but even though i am signed in as an administrator i only see a For Me.. option. Also, even after setting this option i would like to be able to hit the 'Go' button to run the report and have it uncollapse the section. Is this possible?

In my report i am trying to constrain the report to todays data only. However the only prompt i have is for another column. If i place a filter on the date column with Year=0000 it will not change with the prompt selection and so will never return any results. Is there any other way?
It seems wasteful to fire a request to the database onload of the page. Is there an option to only fire a request what the prompts are entered? I will be using a stored proc which needs parameters to run the request so it would be good to be able to set the report to not run until it has parameters entered

when I am testing it in the XML spy. and send a soap server request. I am getting the popup for user authentication . once i put my user id it gives me a error saying

How to disable report's execution requests from the browser

Hello gurus,
We are implementing several security measures in our application, some of them are related to reports execution/visualization, we need to avoid users accessing reports that they don't have privilege to see. The reports were execute by Forms via RUN_REPORT_OBJECT, destination type CACHE and destination format PDF, then we displayed the output using the jobId provided to Forms by the Reports Server. Because these jobIds are sequential numbers any person was able to change the jobId in the URL and get the output of another report. This violated the Confidentiality of information.
Now we generate all reports output to file, the file name is a random value, to avoid guessing. The problem is that even though the official way to execute a report is via the application, the report servlet is accepting request as URLs, and this violates the access controls we have implemented in the application.
Is there a way to stop the reports servlet without affecting the valid requests (from RUN_REPORT_OBJET in Forms) or is there another possible way to disable URL requests?

Getting "Risk Analysis Failed " error while raising request from IDM

Hi friends,
Some of the User to Role mapping requests from IDM did not reach CUP (request ID = null) . When noticed the VDS log , we found the error from GRC webservice to be Risk Analysis Failed . We thought it might be an RAR issue , however , the request just got through CUP when submitted from GRC webservice directly . From RAR perspective also, everything looks ok .
Please provide your thoughts as to whether this error is pertaining to some other issue or suggest me what I can check in Identity center to correct this .

The connector set up are all looking correct . However the requests are not getting raised in many cases .
At one point we identified that , since our SAP systems have been migrated to DB2, some of the systems were down .
So when the system is down we decided , Risk analysis is failing . however , now the systems are up and running and still the risk analysis is failing .

Block incoming calendar / meeting requests to a specific mailbox / user using transport rules or an Outlook rule?

I have a weird request I have never thought I would get. I have a VIP user that wants to receive no calendar invites / meeting invites from:
- anyone outside of our organization (ie: from the internet)
- only certain users from INSIDE our organization
Can I accomplish this either though a transport rule and/or an Outlook rule? I am on Exchange 2007 currently, and Outlook 2007 currently. Soon to have both on 2013 versions, migrating soon, but if possible, I need to implement this in our current environment.

Based on your description, I understand that the VIP user don't want to receive meeting requests from anyone outside of your organization and certain users from inside your organization. If so, we can't create transport rule in exchange 2007.
I recommend you upgrade your exchange server 2007 to exchange 2013. If you use exchange 2013, you can create this transport rule like : under condition, the sender is this person (distribution
group, you can add certain users from inside your organization to a distribution group) ; the recipient is this person (the VIP user);
the message properties include the message type(Calendaring); under actions, block the message reject the message and include an explanation/ reject the message with the enhanced status code of /delete the message without notifying anyone.
You need to create the second transport rule: you only need to change the first condition: the sender is located outside the organization, and other conditions and actions are the same as the first transport rule.

Failed to upgrade ASA5505 license from 10 to unlimited users

Hello everyone.
The problem I'm experiencing is that I´m trying to upgrade a Customer's ASA 5505 base license from 10 to 50 users (ASA5505-SW-10-50=). But the reseller sent a ASA5505-SW-50-UL= license instead. I tried to register that license and the following messaged appeared.
Wrong Sku(s) 'ASA5505-SW-50-UL=' for 'ASA5505-K8' : Device contains following licenses 'ASA5505-SW-10,ASA5500-ENCR-K9'
Serial Number = JMX1235Z0TZ
We're sorry, but the new serial number provided is not the same platform type as the failed serial number. An upgrade request is not allowed.

I am not sure that I have the correct understanding of your issue. From your description it seems that the reseller has generated the license upgrade for the wrong serial number. I would think you would deal with them to get the serial number corrected.
I have had some limited success in calling the TAC when I have had an issue with equipment whose serial number/contract number was not associated with my CCO ID. Or it may turn out that you will need to get the customer to add your ID to their contract number.
