A search box in dreamweaver, which searches the site not a google search

Hi would someone be able to tell me, when creating a search box in dreamweaver, do I have to create the pages that answer the text quires entered into the search bar? I know how to create contact forms etc, im just a little confused how a personalised search bar for a website in dreamweaver works. Any opinions or answers would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Elle

others that maybe searching (irony?) for a search form will know what the best method is vs. the throw up in your mouth method that was suggested by others earlier in this thread.

The only reference to "vomit" here is your own. The rudeness of your remarks notwithstanding, you are once again misinformed, as is so typical when the discussion gets around to 3rd party solutions.
Freefind is used by Dynamic Drive as well as many other commercial web sites. Zoom from Wrensoft has received excellent reviews year after year. And believe it or not, you can fully customize the search parameters, form and results pages to match your site's CSS styles.
Unless the OP is well versed in dynamic site development (which I doubt based on his question), I'm afraid an off-the-shelf solution is about the best he can hope for.

The problem is with Google search in FF 5.0. Everything was fine until I upgraded to FF 5.0. Now, I enter a text and search, I get results, no problem so far. This is new just since the firefox 4 download. I am redirected every time I use google search. This is a business only computer, and it is terrible trying to quote a price when you can't get to a website.

1.To stop all JS.Twettir processes, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Task Manager.

Muse sites not ranking in search engines

Does anyone have any suggestions to offer? I have two sites who rank low when searched by title. For example, searching for The Chamber and the Cross (website www.thechamberandthecross.com ) the site is on the 6th page. Yet the newly created facebook page is a first hit and the goodreads page with only one review is now even coming up higher.
I have manually uploaded the site index to google. The site has well placed keywords. The name is in the text throughout the site as keywords, H1 text where appropriate, in the page descriptions, set as alt text on photos. I have at least a couple other well-ranking sites with links to the site. I don't know what else to do! These are the only two sites I've developed using muse and I've never had an issue with any other site, so I must assume this has something to do wtih Muse itself. The sites are hosted at bluehost and I upload them via a 3rd party ftp.

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

Is there a way to search for a specific keyword within the sites to which the bookmarks are linked? I need to search all linked sites in the bookmark folder without having to open each page and "find" manually.

Currently, I must browse through 50 or so bookmarked pages to see if a specific topic is covered. I would like to be able to search all bookmarked pages at once for a specific keyword. For example, if I have 50 news sites bookmarked and I would like to see which pages have the word "tuna" in them, I would need to open each page individually and do a "find". If I could search all of those pages at once, then I would save an immense amount of time. I have looked on the add-ons and found nothing...

1. Create a smart album and in the drop down in the top right corner select file status
2. Check mark the file status box and select 'Offline'
Now you should have all your 'Offline' (Yellow Exclamation and/or Red Slash) files.
To reconnect..
1. Select the missing files.
2. Go to File and scroll to Manage Referenced Files
The dialog box will have one of the photos selected
3. Select the drive and folder that contains the referenced file and select it
4. Click 'Reconnect All'
This might not reconnect all of them, but the dialog box will still be open and you can reconnect the ones left.

I want to know why you have changed from the very simple, uncluttered google search box to this awful, busy front page? If this continues I will probably go to Internet Explorer although there's is almost as 'busy'.

We used to get, when clicking on Mozilla, a simple box (Google) with a space to put the subject you wanted searched. Simple and uncluttered. I went to Mozilla because of this, as Internet Explorer was messy and cluttered. Imagine my dismay when I find Mozilla has gone the same way!!! I do not want 'Alot' as the homepage for searches, nor do I want all the crazy advertising, etc. - I just want the simple, uncluttered box back but do not know how to achieve this.

I have sad and urgent news for you, Mozilla has not gone this way - it is still the simple box for the rest of us.

Is the meta data in google search engine changeable?

I have made a website using iweb, published with mobile me and using web forwarding. The website when seen in google comes up with the following meta data to describe the site:
GALLERY shapeimage10_link0. ABOUT shapeimage11_link0. HIRE shapeimage12_link0. CONTACT shapeimage15_link0.

How can I change this? I have been onto iwebFAQ and it seems to say you cannot change the meta data and google looks at your page and describes it from the info on the page; but I am sure there must be a way to change the information as for some reason it is looking at the shape files of the page and not the text! Obviously I just want to put information about the site which explains what the site is about. I thought I had done this as I put the descriptions in when publishing the site with the web hosting company.

You can use iWeb SEO Tool to add tags and meta data but what you really need to do is write some interesting and relevant text for the search engine spiders to read.
The problem with your landing page is that there is no actual text for the spiders to read. Your "text" is an image so all they can pick up is the image titles and not the text.

When I click and open my Firefox browser ,it always opens to Firefox welcome page ,NOT my google search page , which is my home page , how can I fix this , I have to always have to close FF before I can search !!??

You can start by checking the Home page setting to see if that still links to the Google Home page (http://www.google.com/firefox)

Using a right click, how can I load in the background a new Google search tab?

I can click on a link and have it open in a new tab in the background but try as I might I cannot select a word, right click, choose "Search Google for..." and have the new tabe open in the background. It opens in a new tab but then the tab is immediately selected. Holding down the Shift, Option, Control, or Command key doesn't work. Firefox immediately shifts to the new tab with the Google Search. Ideas?

If, at the top of your Firefox it does not show the Menu Bar - showing
File Edit View History Bookmarks Tools Help, hit F10 to make it show up and then go to Tools > Options.
Once that opens, click on where it says Tabs at the top. Then un tick the box where it says, "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately."

I get redirected to a 'sales' type site when I select an entry which is a result of a google search.

After I do a google search I select one of the resultant entries to go to. Rather than get there I redirected to some kind of a 'sales' site which does coincidentally have one or more of my search arguments in the items which appear on the page.

Do a malware check with some malware scan programs. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
