A serious error has occurred or how the 7.1 update ruined my life.
Ever since the 7.1 update to Premiere, I've had nothing but problems. The desktop app fails to update for every update, and appears to think it's out of date when it's not and then the icon in the menu bar will be grayed out until I reboot 3-4 times. The "workaround for that seems to be to force quit and uninstall the "previous" version and then download the "new" version from the creative cloud web portal. This wouldn't be that large of an issue, but it happens almost every other day.
Then once I can actually open Premiere, the real fun with errors begins. I have received the "A Serious Error has occurred" screen on 30-40 (not exagerating) delightful occasions in the past couple of weeks, with no real details of what is actually wrong. It usually occurs while trying to fix an issue where my multi-clips aren't showing the audio waveforms in the sequence, but it has happened plenty of other mysterious ways. This is even more complicated, because it's happening on multiple systems and one of them isn't even using the 7.1 update and another is offsite and using different hardware. The same annoying error occurs across them all.
Another super cool "feature" is that Mercury Playback Engine capabilities come and go as they please. Sometimes they work for Premiere or Media Encoder or After Effects, but sometimes they just pick one for that given day and don't let the other apps playback. All of the systems GPU were working just fine in 7.0.1, but now wtf Adobe?
My system specs are varied, but the general idea is this:
Mac Pro systems (4,1-5,1) 2.3GHz - 2.93GHz
16-24GB RAM
Nvidia QuadroFX 4800, Nvidia QuadroFX 4000, Nvidia GeForce 9800
OS X 10.7.4 and 10.7.5
A few of the systems have AJA Kona 3 and Kona 3G
Most of the media is being accessed across 10gigE to a ProMax Platform, and the project files are local on SSD's.
I have the bug report from Apple, so if that helps let me know so I can get that info to someone who cares.
Hi Kevin,
I'm still planning on attempting the 10.8.5 install on one of the affected systems. In the process, I have uncovered a new issue related to the CUDA acceleration not being there at all on a system that used to have it. That particular Mac Pro system only has a GeForce GT120, but the point is that in CS6 and CC, the CUDA was working until this latest update. The other systems have QuadroFX 4000 and 4800 cards, so those seem to be getting CUDA playback, however it is intermittent.
As for the OS X 10.7.4 not allowing me to install 7.1... That is correct. The Creative Cloud Desktop app was failing updating itself (as it still does on every "update") quite a bit, I don't remember any specific messages, but I did see somewhere along the process that I wasn't able to install the Premiere 7.1 update with my 10.7.4. One of the systems here is have a ton of issues with AE, but that's a whole new thread I think. I will attach some of those errors for kicks, but all of these problems occured with the introduction of the virus that is Creative Cloud into our working environment.
I am working with a wide variety of media: R3D, 5D, F55 4K XAVC, Canon C-300, XDCAM EX, FS-100, ProRes. The projects that I've been having the most issues with lately has the Canon C-300 .MXF media mixed with 5D h.264 as a 2 camera multi-cam set up. The other project that was giving me a lot of trouble right when I installed the Premiere 7.1 update was R3D and F55 4K XAVC. Both issues were the "A Serious Error has occurred. Premiere will try and save your project" vague warning. I usually only lost work since the last Autosave 20 minute interval, but sometimes that is a lot of work and when it happens 10 times in one day, that is unacceptable.
Here are some answers to some more of those questions:
What other software are you running?
These are all possible conflicting software (IMO) that are installed:
Final Cut Studio 3
Avid Symphony 6.0.3
Cinema 4D R14
RED CineX
Davinci Resolve
Nuke7
Adobe CS5.5 and CS6 are still installed
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?
Yes. Trapcode Suite, Primatte, lots of scripts in After Effects. Lots of codecs installed from Sony, Avid, RED, Canon, etc.
I think I've answered most of the other questions in this thread, but hopefully that helps. I will update when I'm able to get 10.8.5 installed. I suppose a clean install of 10.7.5 perhaps might have the same chances of fixing this as well.
Here is the Premiere Error:
Here are a series of AE errors, that might need their own thread:

There is an error that says when I am open my project: 'Sorry a serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project'. What is the solution? (mac)
This happens to me all the time too. When I attempt to reopen, it makes a "copy of" my project. This is frustrating and happiness often.

I'm running a 2013 iMac i7 with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096mb. 24Gb ram. Latest update of Premiere Pro CC. My sequence is 23 minutes long, XDCAM EX. Most of my footage is Sony AVCHD.
When I attempt to export the entire sequence, it will go approx 75% and then stop, giving the error box: "A serious error has occurred and Premiere must shut down, we will attempt to save your project..."
This happens whether the sequence is entirely preview-rendered or not, and no matter the settings in the export window. However, if I mark the sequence and export it in 2 pieces, both sides of the sequence will export.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere, tried making new projects, imported the sequence, trashed the render files and media cache, trashed QT plugins, removed filters from clips... no solutions yet.
General response of Premiere seems to be generally slower than usual as well, and this problem has only recently started. I haven't needed to export my project for a couple weeks, so I'm not sure when exactly it may have started.
Below is the error report, I hope someone is able to help me with this... thank you.

If I split my sequence into 2, first using only a couple min with 4k footage and NO high res stills, it takes nearly 3 hours, seems to want to crash mid way through again - but doesn't.
Then exporting the final 90 seconds of the sequence, with a couple small 4k clips and about 2000 high res stills (I left them at 6000 pixels) renders in about 40 min and doesn't hiccup whatsoever.
it does not seem to be related to the stills.
most 4k footage is mjpeg from Canon 1dc
This was on a second machine - a new Macbook pro i7- (if I try to render sequence all at once- same crash as on iMac)

Error Message: Sorry, a serious error has occurred that...
This seems to be a common problem, however, I have not found a fix. I am somewhat technologically savvy, but limited! Listed below are my specs and details to the problem.
Software- Premiere Pro (Version 5.03) Recently updated
OS- WIN7 Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 3.00GHz 4.00GB RAM
Footage used- all types
Error message text-
Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires, Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your project.
The problem-
When attempting to start PP it allows me to start a new project, select setting, and sequences. However, as the program begins to start up the new project the error pops up. The only option is to click ok, which in turn locks up the program.
Also any files that I have previous created also will not open properly.
Also, I have recently lost a drive that contained many of my old PP projects. I've read that some people have this problem when losing a drive that once related to possible PP preferences and scratch disks...once again I am limited on understanding how that all works.
I have restarted, cold boots, warm boots....clean uninstall, clean reinstall of PP and all components, updated chipset, display adaptor is up-to-date (NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE) ...also I am an administrator of the workstation
**Through my many failed attempts from reading forums I have also at sometimes received a RunTime Error R6025 (pure virtual function call)
I have no 3rd party effects
not using Mecury to my knowledge.?Has it worked OK in the past? If so, try System Restore.
While your computer might meet Adobe's minimum requirements, it is way underpowered to run Premiere Pro properly.

Hi. I'm having another serious problem with CS4 (the version that comes with CS5 when you don't have 64 bit capability. I just finished a project, had saved it, and then had switched over to Adobe Encoder to create a finished flash video (which worked perfectly). I shut down CS4, went home, tried to restart the main project to create a video from the same project (wanted to make an mpeg version as well) and got the following error message:
Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project. Then the system shuts down.
Not only can I not open the project I was working on, I cannot open any of my prior projects without receiving the same error.
Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this issue and how to resolve it?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
By the way, is everyone else having the same amount of problems with this software? I've never had any software that has had so many problems from the beginning. My opinion of this software and Adobe in general has gone down substantially. Not enough information for anyone to even make a guess

Updated PremiereHi guys; I thought I would share my experience and how I managed to fix this problem. It might help someone.
In my case I kept receiving this message; eventually after re-launching Premiere, I actually paid close attention to the "software loading" information and saw that it got stuck on my installed "Colorista ii" which is a colour grading software.
Now the red bulb came on my head ping!
I recently just upgraded my Mac to the OS X Yosemite & that affected pretty much any non-updated application, which in my case was that and many more of the Red Giant Pacakge; so I searched for the upgrade via Red giant Link, and low and behold I found it and did so. Immediately everything loaded up perfectly fine.. and now can't even do the work, cos I'm so exhausted from an 'almost heartattack'; so going to sleep and commence later in the day I guess..
Now, you might probably want to check if any application on your system needs upgrading to whatever is the operating system on your Mac or PC at this very time. It might help.
Always back-up.
I hope I helped someone :-)

sorry, a serious error has occured that requires adobe premiere elements to shut down.
Why did this come up? I know I've plenty of free space and everything! Please if you know how to fix it then help!
Some other info:
My computer runs on windows 7
Once again, the Premiere elements I'm using is 9

Another 'Sorry, a serious error has occurred...'
Hi Folks,
I searched and tried some of the solutions... deleting style folder, creating a new cache with no joy so far.
Hoping someone here can help.
Hardware/OS specs at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9233828/PRE_hardwareinfo.txt (dumped from speccy today)
Prem Elements version 9.01 (N224.08092010.240488) - I tried an update a couple of days ago, so hopefully that's the current flavour of 9.x
Issue:
Elements has been working perfectly on this machine since buying and installing it back in August 2011 (a couple of weeks before 10 came out )
This week however it has stopped working.
Starting Elements produces the following behaviours
The welcome screen loads
I get the Organize/New Project/Open Project screen
If I open an existing project:
Project appears to load (status bar completes)
Nothing happens
Menus are accessible but most options are greyed out - I can't even deactivate to try a re-install
If I start a new project
I get the New Project Dialog
Nothing happens as above
If I then try to either open a project or start a new one from the file menu I get the 'Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe....'
Clicking OK does not however close elements down - I can repeat the process ad-nauseum until I shut it down
All other Adobe progs (CS5 Design Premium) are working fine
Any suggestions? Thanks everyone for your suggestions I've tried most of them, but I think I'll cut my losses and get a different NLE.
I'll sum up the experience here, not so much for the forum regulars but for those who have come here via a web search having also entered the dead-end street of "Sorry, a serious error has occurred...", or, as I'm coming to know it, the Adobe Grey Screen of Death (or GSOD as it's easily as annoying and difficult to do anything about as the dreaded Windows BSOD).
So, if I understand it correctly, this error is thown up when some unspecified circumstance occurs that Premiere can't cope with.
No clue is provided to the user of what may have caused it
No log files are created
No entry is made to to the Windows application log
There is no debug mode
There are at least 20 recorded possible causes for the error
Adobe takes no resonsibility for the issue - it's a problem on the user's machine
Diagnosing the problem, working through all of the documented causes may require a massive commitment in terms of time and effort with no guarantee of success and, looking at some of the many posts on the subject, be detrimental to other applications or the system as a whole.
Premiere is a powerful and relatively easy to use tool, when it was working I thoroughly enjoyed using it. However, when it goes wrong (and reading posts here and elsewhere, it seems to go wrong quite a lot) it crosses the border into crapware - software that is poorly engineered and does not adhere to best practice with regard to error handling. As with any service - the quality of the product is often best measured by what happens when something goes wrong, rather than by how it behaves when everything works.
A sincere thanks to those in this little community that tried to help, but life is too short and my time is too valuable to spend more than a couple of days on this.
I'd advise anyone finding this post when researching for a purchase to look at Premiere as a question of risk management - if it works and continues to work then it's brilliant and offers great value for money. If it breaks then there is a very good chance that you're thoroughly stuffed...
I'm off now to decide between Corel and Sony for my next go at video editing
Good luck -
When trying to start a project in Adobe Premiere Elements 9.0, i receive the following message: "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Elements to shut down". After that, the working area turns into blank but, the menus stay visible. Any suggestions to solve this situation? Thanks
With a good Windows 7 set-up, like yours, Mig, you shouldn't need to turn off any background processes or internet or e-mails. Your quad core should be able to do all of these things at the same time without working up a sweat!
Though clearly something is interfering with the program.
And I'm assuming you've tried running Premiere Elements 9 in XP compatibility mode to see if that makes a difference.
Otherwise, if you open up your Task Manager, how many processes does it show as running?
When did you last run Disk Cleanup and clean the registry with a program like Ccleaner?
Meantime, I'd also recommend you try uninstalling McAfee and replace it with Security Essentials (a free download from Microsoft). See if that makes a difference. (It sure might! McAfee and Norton are often at the center of program problems.) -
Premiere keeps shutting down saying " a serious error has occurred"
Hi, I've been using my Premiere CS6 to edit one video for several month, and there was no problem. One day i removed the current itunes library and installed the itunes library from my last macbook, since then whenever i start Premiere a message always pops out asking where's your audio file "hero"? I will then search the new itunes library for the song "hero" and select it. Once select, premiere pops out another message saying" A serious error has occurred that requires to shut down". screen shot as follow: http://i.imgur.com/qAmfzTw.png
My question is: Any advice on how to solve this problem? Does it help to re-install adobe premiere again? Or did i do something wrong while selecting the audio file? Please give me advice if anyone knows any. Thank you in advance! My best guess is that iTunes music has DRM which PP doesn't like. You need to somehow get that file out of iTunes and into a format PP can work with.

Sorry, a serious error has occurred... Rant and a solution
Warning. Much of this post is frankly a rant against a poorly written program and the so-called experts who offer up solutions here. If you are one of these experts and you have a thin-skin, don't read this post.
If you just want a solution to the problem skip to the bottom of the post.
INTRODUCTION
Adobe, I want my money back! I rarely buy Adobe products and always wind up regretting it when I do. This product was no exception.
I tried the trial version. Bought the product along with Photoshop Elements as part of a promotion.
Produced a couple of videos with it, no problems. Then, inexplicably, it stopped working for me and I would get the infamous "Sorry, a serious error has occurred..." message while trying to start or open a project. This would happen almost immediately, as it was drawing its intial screen layout.
MY FIRST BIG COMPLAINT... USELESS ERROR MESSAGE
This has to be the most useless error message I've ever read. The few times I've had programs crash on me, the error message that results usually gives me enough clues to find and fix the root problem.
ONWARD...
Uninstalled it with Revo Uninstaller, re-installed it.
Deleted all old project files.
Tried to re-start by clicking 'New Project' button.
Prompts me for a location for the project. I accepted the default.
Immediately gives me the "Sorry, a serious error has occurred..." message and shuts down when I press okay.
MY SECOND BIG COMPLAINT... INCOMPLETE UNINSTALL
I did observe that when I went to use the Organizer after the re-installs, the thumbnails of previous videos were still there. Clearly some cache wasn't removed during the uninstall.
If a cache wasn't removed, perhaps other remnants of the the program were still lying about on my machine. If they were the problem, then no amount of uninstalling/ re-installing would solve the problem.
CONTINUING...
At this point, I came to the forums for help and my worst fears were confirmed. This error message is a common problem. The suggestions to solve it were all over the place. The sheer depth and width of this faultfinding indicated to me that this is a seriously buggy piece of software.
With one or two exceptions it seems that nobody ever resolves this problem.
MY THIRD COMPLAINT... WELL-MEANING BUT UNHELPFUL 'SOLUTIONS'
These are some of the typical solutions I read on these forums:
- Your computer is probably underpowered. Give us a list of all your specs.
- Your computer doesn't have enough hard drive space. Give us a list of all your specs.
- Your computer doesn't have enough RAM. Give us a list of all your specs.
- Something on your computer has 'changed'. Give us a list of all your specs.
- Your hard drive is dying. Back it up quick!
- It's probably your anti-virus software. Turn it off.
- Some of your drivers are probably out of date. Update them all. Give us a list of all your specs.
- That's a different issue... start a new thread. (Lame...)
Most of that advice is... well, lame. It's pretty obvious that these people are just winging it, i.e. throw everything up there and hope something works. Sorta like that tech guy on the support line who always ends up telling you to 're-install the program' because he really has no clue what the problem is and just wants you off the line.
As someone who has used video editing programs for years, I'm here to tell you that the problem is rarely the computer specs. The specs listed by Adobe for this program aren't that onerous and my three-year-old Dell 1525 laptop with less than 20 megs of space on its 136 HD and 2 megs of RAM was able to produce videos with no problem.
Most computers sold within the last three or four years are pretty robust and should have no problem with consumer level video editing.
Sending people off on a quest to 'fix' their computer and research a lot of computer specs is a time-waster. That should be the LAST thing you recommend after first eliminating the program as a problem.
ONLINE SUPPORT
This is worthy of its own post, but I won't bore you here. Suffice it to say that Adobe tech support deserves some sort of industry recognition for its ineptitude.
MY SOLUTION
First, let me reinterate. The problem is probably the buggy program and not your computer, assuming your computer is relatively new and mid-range or better.
In my case, the clue was in the fact that not all of the program is uninstalled when you try to do a uninstall / re-install. The program likely had some sort of corrupted cache that stopped the program and that remained after an uninstall.
I unstalled it again, but after some research I came across this tool:
Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/829/cpsid_82947.html
and this reference:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/859/cpsid_85966.html
The reference above applies to Photoshop, but the Organizer elements applies to Premiere unintalls as well.
After applying these two solutions and then re-installing, my Premiere Elements is working once again.
Had I followed the typical advice I would have spent days updating drivers, installing RAM, de-fragging and cleaning up my hard drive, listing specs to post here, etc. And none of it would have mattered a wit.
The program is still buggy though and my original problem may re-occur, I admit. I will certainly never buy another version of this POS program again, but, in the meantime, I hope I can save someone here some time in looking for a fix for their own message.Your post count is 2 (as I write this) beginning July 17 - which indicates to me that you never asked for help in this forum (or you did so under another name)
As Steve said (and which you may not have known) this is not Adobe support, this is a place provided by Adobe for users to try and help each other
Yes... Adobe has less than good telephone support... a year or so ago that was even admitted to by the Adobe CEO, with discussion of that over in http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/forum_comments or maybe it was http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/forum_comments (been long enough ago that I don't really remember)
If you do have future questions... come back and ask and someone will try to help
Just as advance notice... don't come in saying "my file won't work... why?" without providing details... such as
This is not pointed at you, at least right now... this is just for the future

Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Elements to shut down.
I have Adobe Premier Elements 7. When I launch the application then try to begin using it an error is presented which advises Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premier Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project. When I click OK the program shuts down. I have tried fixes I have found on the Forum. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the program.
From the Premiere Elements Information FAQ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1042180
•You MUST use an account with Administrator Privileges to run Premiere Elements
•(Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for "All" versions of Premiere] will sometimes fix "odd" errors)
•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 12 with the 12.0.1 update).
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.9.4"---not just "Mac"
•Has this ever worked before? If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.? Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
•Have you installed any recent program or OS updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
•What kind(s) of image file(s)? When talking about camera raw files, include the model of camera.
•If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
•What were you doing when the problem occurred?
•What other software are you running?
•Tell us about your computer hardware. How much RAM is installed? How much free space is on your system (C:) drive?
•How many and what speed are your hard drive(s)... ie 5400rpm or 7200rpm or?
And some other questions...
•What are you editing, and does your video have a red line over it BEFORE you do any work?
•Which version of Quicktime do you have installed?
•What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
•What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
•Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
•For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
•-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself
•ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
•nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us -
Hi, my software just recently started giving me the folowing error and it does not work (start):
Sorry, a serious error has occured that requires Adone Premiere Elements to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.
I had tried everything, even uninstalling and reinstalling the program and still it does not work. Does anybody have this issue?
Do you know how to fix it?I found the root casue of the problem. I just turn OFF the McAfee antivirun software and the Premiere Elements 7 works now.
I realized that McAfee updated the version on April 20 and i think this version has a problem with the Adobe Premiere Elements programm. -
Premiere Pro CS6 serious error has occurred, crash troubleshooting
ERROR MESSAGE: Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project
Problem: Starting last night Premiere would crash with this error message. This has been happening increasingly more over the past couple weeks, but starting last night and today - it has happened so much that I cannot get more than 5 minutes of work done without it crashing. It has happened on saves, renders, playback, switching active timelines, removing the mojo effect from a clip, and while sitting dormant. I’ve had the computer less than a year and hope that it is not a serious problem with my RAM or graphics card.
Using Premiere Pro CS6 - subscription based with latest update installed
SPECS:
MacBook Pro Retina, Mid 2012
Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650 M 1024 MB
Software: OS X 10.9.1 (updated after problem started)
(nothing external from factory setup in terms of hardware)
Use an External USB 3.0 7200 RPM drive from OWC for project files
Use an External Seagate 3 TB drive for media storage
Using all DSLR footage from Canon 6D, Canon 5D mk II, and Canon 60D and audio from external recorders (.mov, .WAV, .wav files)
Third-party effects or codecs: Use Pluraleyes 3.0 and Mojo color from Red Giant
I realize this is a general error message and there are several forums posted from mostly more than 5 months ago. I cannot seem to find an answer that will help me. Here is what I have already tried:
1. updated to Maverick
2. checked for updates for Adobe software
3. Cleared the Media Cache
4. Switched from CUDA to software only
5. Updated CUDA and switched back to CUDA in premiere
6. Held SHIFT while starting up (nothing seems to happen or pop up on screen at least)
Next:
—Going to uninstall Premiere and reinstall.
Any suggestions or possible fixes are great appreciated. What should my next step be?UPDATE:
STEP 1:
Uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere - worked without crashing for the longest time since yesterday. After 1 hour of running - it crashed once again with same error message and same report (see below).
Same as before:
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x0000000000000000
STEP 2:
--Updated the RED GIANT plugin "mojo" (minor coloring software)
This worked for less than 10 mintues and then crashed again - but this time with different exeception details (I'm not sure what these mean)
Crashed Thread: 2
Exception Type: EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP)
Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000
Application Specific Information:
*** CFRelease() called with NULL ***
STEP 3:
Going off of the idea that it may be the plugin causing the issue (since it needed to be updated) I went into the project and deleted all of the files containing this effect in this project file (note: i have used this for 10+ projects on this computer with no trouble).
I thought it was fixed, from about 8:00 PM - 11:45 PM no crash - then as I was playing back clips - crashed again.
I have been loosely following these guidelines: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-mac.html
I am not sure where to go from here - should I continue into the "advanced troubleshooting" even though I'm not sure if any of these things are related.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I have launched two other Premiere Project Files (from previously completed projects) successfully without crashing. I tested a few things in the projects before returning to the problem project. If I suspect there is a problem with the file in particular - how do I find out what is causing the problem?
--I already removed MOJO effects thinking that could be the issue from the last files that were
--I have already gone back to a previous version from a week ago and imported the Sequence I needed. Still crashed.
I have sent 5+ reports to Adobe on the crash. Any feedback into this is much appreciated. -
PLEASEEE HELP ME! "serious error has occured" and now it wont open
So I have been working on a video for youtube, and as always Adobe being a peice of crap shuts down every 5 minutes or so when I am doing a lot of effects or text, but pretty much it doesn't bother me anymore. Until last night I had been working on a project (it is saved because I click the save button every minute or so) and it said " a serious error has occured and we shut down immediatly, your project will try to be saved" or something like that. It has done this once or twice before so I was just going to open it back up. But now when I go to open it it does the little "im loading thing" for like 2 seconds then doesn't do anything..I gave it time to see if that would help. no. I also tried opening it up from another spot (not the desktop) but from my documents/adobe/4.0/ then my project, does it work? no. I am sooooo mad at it since I have had so many issues with other movie makers and other computers recently being soo stupid like this. and I thought this one was actually gonna work. but no. BTW it is Adobe Premiere Elements 4.0, if that helps. If ANYONE can give me a suggestion that DOES NOT involved rebooting and losing my current project which has taken me SEVERAL HOURS of VERYY specific effects almost down to a different one every second please tell me....and I would be DEVISTATED if it was gone! So pleaseeeeeeeeeeee help me if you can. Thanks so much.
-Emma_5If it's a piece of crap, why are you trying to fix it?
Otherwise, how about telling us more about your system. Like which operating system you're using, how fast your processor is and how much free, defragmetned space is on your C drive?
Also, what kind of camcorder did your video come from and how did you get it into your computer? Which project settings did you select when you set up your Premiere Elements project?
Version 4 was a very stable build. But we can try to figure out what's up with your system if you give us some details.
