A single and Complete My Album problems

A few days ago I bought a single and then today decided to buy the rest of the album. When I would go into the iTunes songs list it showed that the single as a separate album. I then updated the single to have the same album name and cover art as the other songs. That seemed to have worked in the "Songs" view, but in the "Albums" view the songs are listed out of order and clicking "Play iTunes LP" skips the single that I bought before. (I hope this makes sense). Does anyone know of a way to officially make that single part of the album?

I had this problem twice the first time I've tried to upgrade to iTunes Plus. In the first case it was because I forgot to set my Payment Mode... Oooops... No reason were provided for the second case and the third time it works...
So make sure that your Payment Mode is set.
You can also select the iTunes "Store->Check for Available downloads..." menu item, sometimes the items are available.
You can also try to update one item at a time (if you haven't try it yet).
If nothing works, I guess you'll have to send a mail to iTunes Support ([email protected])... Good luck!

Complete My Album Problems

I recently downloaded 2 songs from the Hives new CD, Black & White. I also download the Killers Shadowplay. I go to download the full albums from the Hives and Killers. I-tunes notices the past downloads and prompts me to go to "complete my album" to get CD's for a discounted price. But, BOTH the CD's don't show up in my "complete my album" section. Does anyone know what the problem is? Has this happenned to anyone else? Thanks

Complete my album problem

I want to complete a few of my albums, but when i go to it, it only shows that i purchased 3 songs from the albums, but i really purchased all but 4 or 5, how can i complete my album without repurchasing the same music i have already purchased?

I am having a similar problem... I have bought 2 songs from a single album in the last 2 months, but it is not registering on the album page (it doesn't show that I have bought any). I know CMA doesn't work on albums with 10 songs for $9.90, but this is not the case with this album...

You may be able to use the "Complete My Album" from the iTunes Store Quick Links. But keep in mind that if the singles you bought differ in any way from the album, it will most likely not work.

Question about the difference between Creative Cloud Single and Complete packages / Photoshop

I am an Adobe Photoshop / CS / CC novice so I apologise in advance for however silly this may come across. If I purchase Photoshop through the 'single application' package will I get to use Creative Suite to its full potential (masking, layers, sharpening etc) or will I need to purchase the 'complete individual' package which is considerably more expensive?
I have no requirement for Adobe's products beyond photo editing and i am not familiar with the other applications / products listed.

If you subscribe to just Photoshop CC, you get the full application (aka, masking, layers, sharpening) as well as the 20gb online storage. You will not get any of the other applications like Lightroom or Illustrator though. You only get Photoshop.

I had this same problem and started a thread, but for the most part nobody responded and those who did somehow didn't understand what the problem was.

I'm sure the problem is sweat getting into the apple supplied headphone "remote." Basically even the smallest drop can slide down the wire and get into the unit.
Unfortunately I haven't found a solution other than to get a Belkin remote adapter and some sport headphones. This doesn't give you voice over, but you can still control the volume, skip, etc.
I've been doing this for a couple weeks now and it hasn't had a freak out since.

Not sure what you mean by transfer. I suspect you are trying to get it listed in iTunes as part of the album, in which case you can change the details in 'Get Info'.

Complete My Album and older purchases no longer showing as purchased

I have noticed that on many of my older single song purchases, I do not have the option to complete the album (but on others I do so it isnt some account issue).
It seems that for whatever reason, some albums get re encoded and re uploaded. When that happens they delete the old version from the store but leave it on their servers and your previously purchased songs are still attached to the old no longer available for purchase version. They dont migrate your purchases over to their new replaced version (were talking same exact album here, not a newer extended version or something)
You can re download them from the cloud no problem, but when you view the album in the store, it doesnt show any purchased tracks. If you re purchase one of those tracks it now shows in the cloud that you own it twice. (the album are will usually have slightly different coloring from being rescanned) I downloaded them both and the size was a bit different, the newer one even had a slightly higher bitrate.
Just figured id post this here for anyone not able to complete an album and thinking there is an issue. You can test it by deleting the item from the cloud (it just hides it) then going into the itunes store account area and going to the manage your hidden tracks area. If you sort by songs and click the album name, it will either take you to the album page or tell you that this album is not available in the US store (or whatever region you bought it in). If it says the latter, then you purchases are from an older encoding of that album.
I have no idea why they do it like this, its pretty rediculous and leads to a bunch of issues like the endless threads by confused people not knowing why they cant complete an album. Its because the album you bought a song from isnt for sale anymore, even though one with the same name and songs is.

I already bought a single album of MUSE (Survival - Single)
and I wanted to buy the whole album of MUSE (The 2nd Law)
then I realized that I could buy other songs except for 'Survival' for $10.7 using 'Complete My Album' (Original price is $11.9)
so I bought 'The 2nd Law' album for $10.7. but there isn't 'Survival' on the 'The 2nd Law' album playlist.
single album and whole album are seperated on the playlist. how I get the whole album playlist??
Do I have to buy 'Survival' in the whole album's list to make perfect 'The 2nd Law' album playlist??

I have this exact same question / issue too and it is definitely something I would LOVE to see Apple fix ASAP. It is especially important to me because so many popular artists release Singles (as Single Albums) weeks or even months in advance of their full album coming out. When I have the choice, I ALWAYS prefer to buy a single song from the album it is on (in case I like the song a lot and want to check out more from that artist) - however, this is often not possible due to the "Single Album" phenomenon. Sidenote: could you just freakin' get rid of Single Albums altogether (when there is an associated real album)? They clutter up the See All Albums view horribly - at least give us a filter or something for the real-deal studio albums vs all the junk.
While it is great that I get "credit" for my purchase from the Single Album towards the real Album (thanks for that Apple), I personally have a strong preference to then see the original single as part of the album instead of as a stand-alone. It's just cleaner organization-wise, easier from a usability standpoint (you can actually listen to the whole album you bought using the album filter!), etc. It would at least be nice to have the choice to "convert" the original single to the Album version, if Apple is concerned about forcing the change (I personally would be happy with a forced change, but if given a choice would always convert).

My example:
-Bought Calvin Harris, "Feel So Close (Radio Edit)" back in March '12 (I think it was released in August '11) for $1.29
-Completed My Album by buying "18 Months" album for $8.70 recently (released Oct 30, 2012)
-Was happy to pay $8.70 instead of $9.99 (got full credit for the $1.29 I spent on the single) - good job Apple
-Am now frustrated that "Feel So Close (Radio Edit)" has different Album info, different Album cover art etc - BAD job Apple
Would love to hear that this is going to be addressed soon - hopefully with a retroactive converter tool too??
PS I realize I could manually adjust the metadata for the track to make it match, but I HATE the idea of doing that. Very clunky solve and I personally would be worried that I missed something or didn't "fully" change everything, the underlying file is not exactly what I would have gotten from the full album version, etc.

I am trying to complete an album of which I bought 3 singles and every time I hit "Complete Album" for $4.83, it says "Purchase of this Item is not currently Available. This item is being modified. Please try again later." Ive tried multiple times over the past week and get the same error every time. Can anyone help? Thx

Complete my Album doesn't play the single download as a whole album

I had purchaser the single of the Payphone from iTunes and when the album was released I did a "Complete my Album" purchase of the same Album. iTunes won't play the single when palying the album. It is not shown as being in the album at all, even the track number is omited. How can I get that single to play in order when selecting the Album without creating a special playlist just for this album. I thought when you did a "Complee my album" it would do just that not omit it from the album and keep the single as a seperate track. Any Ideas or did I do it wrong?

Often, a single released in advance of an album will not have the album title associated with it. Instead it is listed as a single. When purchasing the rest of the album, the single is not downloaded again. To fix it, select the single and type command+I to open the song's information window. Select the "Info" tab and edit the album name to reflect the actual album title and enter the correct track number and total number of tracks. Click "OK" at the bottom right of the window to save your changes.

I'm having the exact same problem. Ever since "upgrading" to iTunes 9 most of my Quick Links such as "My Alerts" "Complete My Album" and "Upgrade to iTunes Plus" have disappeared.
I started one topic on this myself and have seen several others and have yet to see any solution. The problem persists whether I am logged in or not.

"Complete My Album" track order problem

Hello everybody,
I downloaded several tracks from Billy Joel's "The Stranger" in January. Just a few days ago, I decided to "Complete My Album." When I downloaded the remaining tracks, the tags were slightly different, resulting in two entries in my iTunes library. The old tracks had "The Stranger (Remastered)" in the Album field; the new tracks simply said "The Stranger." So I changed the tags on the new tracks to make sure they matched the old ones. Now, they are displayed properly as one entry, except the tracks are in the wrong order. I checked all the fields, including Album Artist, Artist, Track number, Sort Album...any that would affect the order...to make sure they matched. I selected all of the tracks and manually reentered the information. Whatever I tried to do, I could not get the tracks to display in the correct order (in iTunes, or the iPod it was synced to.) The new tracks stubbornly sit atop the old tracks, no matter what I do to them. I also noticed that when I press the little grey arrow next to the new tracks, it links me to the proper page on iTunes. When I do the same with the old tracks, I get an error that says "Could not complete your request. These songs are no longer available in the U.S. store." I contacted iTunes support, and they had no idea what the problem was. They told me to post here. So here I am, hoping that there is some iTunes genius who knows what is going on. I'm assuming that there is some secondary tag information that I can't access that takes precedence over the ID3 listings. Any clues? Please forgive my incredibly verbose question, but I just wanted to give a clear picture of the situation. Thanks for your help.

HT201272 If I go through "Purchased", how will it work for the ones I completed my album & single is no longer available?

Over the years, I've purchased 425 albums (2312 songs total).
I'm upgrading my hard drive, and was wondering how it worked for the 'Purchased' section. If I bought an album with "Complete My Album" and the 'Single' I got in pre-orders (or whatever) is no longer available for purchase, will I get it with my entire album download? Or will I have to go back & re-purchase that song? (considering I notice if the song is missing at all)
(If my rambling makes any sense) Does anyone know? or is this something I should ask Customer Support?

Go into iTunes store on computer. On the right hand side under quicklinks select Purchased. You can redownload any of those songs for free as long as you have authorized your computer. Just click the little cloud, or "download all"

Ordering of Singles and Albums

Sometimes I buy a single from iTunes and then when the album comes out I purchase the rest of the songs from the album as its cheaper than just buying the whole album again.
But I find I have a problem ordered the songs, even if I goto the single I bought, replace the single name with the album name, change the artwork, and the track numbers and cd numbers it still wont come up in the correct order.
For example bought Wish I was a punk rocker when it was a single, now purchased the other songs on the album, change the single to track 2 of 10 and the album name, but it comes up at the end of the album list and not as track 2.

Check if the album in addition has an info like "Disc 1 of 1" or similar - if some kind of info is missing add it to the single track.
