A single .swf output file?

I import my captivate simulations into my Authorware
programs. This requires a single .SWF output file. I want to be
able to use the skin (border) feature and produce only 1 single
file. Can this be done? Anyone have a work-around...
Thanks,
kshasmith

Hi there kshasmith
So you want to eat all that cake and still have some to take
with you, eh?
I think you would be able to accomplish this the old
fashioned way. That is, the way we did it in Captivate 1. Notice
that if you DE-select the borders check box, you STILL end up with
the playback controls. They are just plopped on top of the bottom
of the movie. Sooooo, if you click Project > Resize Project...
you can increase the height of the movie to make room for the
playback controls.
Steps:
Click Project > Resize Project...
DE-select the "Maintain Aspect Ratio" check box
Add 35 pixels or so to the value in the Height field
Choose the option to Keep project the same size and fill the
background with color
Choose the color your skin would have provided
Click the drop-down and position the project in the Top
Center
Click the Finish button
This should result in a single .SWF movie that is basically
identical to a skinned Captivate movie using two .SWFs.
Give that a go and see how you fare.
Cheers... Rick

  • Export single swf

When using full motion or when importing swfs into the
    cp-file I've come across a problem. Captivate can't generate a
single swf output file. For each imported swf Captivate will
generate a copy of these files and in some way link from the main
file to these files. This is a problem as I would like to use the
main file for input to Articulate.
Is there a solution to this problem? Is it possible to embed
the imported media files in the main swf?

    Welcome to our community, Gustaf
Actually Captivate is capable of creating single .SWF output
if you know how to finagle it.
All credit for what I'm about to offer here goes to fellow
Adobe Community Expert and fellow Adobe Certified Instructor John
    Daigle for figuring this out!
Publish your project to a temporary folder. When you publish,
make sure you target Flash 7. (If you choose Flash 8 or Flash 9,
    this process will likely fail)
Now, back in the Captivate editor, insert a Blank slide
either just before or just after each Full Motion clip. Adjust the
timing for these slides to match the timing of their matching
    neighbor.
On each blank slide, click Insert > Animation... and point
at the matching full motion .SWF in the temporary folder.
Delete the Full Motion slide that was there originally.
After you have replaced them all, Publish the project again.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Single Output File

When I publish a screencast, it outputs an swf for every
slide. When I publish to standalone format, it outputs an exe file.
How can I get a single media file so that I could, for instance,
upload my project to YouTube? I don't care if it's avi or mpg or
quicktime or flv or swf or wmv... just as long as I can get one
    single video file.

    Hi rtobyr
Really? A .SWF for each slide? Let me guess. You recorded in
totally Full Motion Recording mode, no? I'll have to admit, I never
record in this mode, nor would I ever advise someone to do so. But
    whatever floats your own boat.
If you desire a single .SWF output, you might be able to
accomplish it using a technique developed by fellow Adobe Certified
Instructor and Adobe Community Expert John Daigle.
In a nutshell, you publish your project to a temporary
folder. When you publish, make certain you publish as Flash 7
format. Then edit the project and insert a blank slide immediately
before (or after) each of your original Full Motion Recording (FMR)
slides. Personally, I'd ensure the timing of each slide matched the
timing of the FMR slides. Now click Insert * Animation and point at
the corresponding FMR slide you find in the temporary folder. Then
delete the original FMR slide. Rinse and repeat until all FMR
slides have been replaced by their counterparts. Now publish again
(again making sure the target is Flash 7) and you should see that
all the FMR .SWFs have now been made part of the main .SWF file.
If it works (and there is no reason to think it won't) thanks
totally goes to John Daigle for developing the workaround!
Hopefully this was useful to you... Rick

  • Presenter output ONE single SWF

    Hi,
I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to do the
following. What I'm looking for is to export a PPT presentation
that is heavy on animation that includes audio. For this the
presenter plug-in works very well. Compared to captivate's import
features and recording system, I prefer the presenter system in
terms of ease of use for the author.
The one BIG problem I have is that I must have the final file
output be a single SWF file, because that is what our technology
teams can handle. They can't do zips, exes, or full directories
with js, xml, htm and separate flash files. So my questions are two
    fold:
    1. Has anyone been able to convert the whole zip package into
    a swf package easily.
    2. If not, does anyone know of a consulting resource that can
create/modify the output of presenter to that effect

I, too, am trying to figure this one out.
I'm in charge of streamlining our web seminar archiving
process, and one of the major problems is that we use an operator
assisted service for the audio. Because the audio never passes
through Adobe Connect, it isn't recorded. Currently, a person has
to set up a completely new meeting after the initial meeting and
sync the audio from the operator service by hand (using up 2
computers for the whole hour meeting!).
Coming from an audio/video background, I'm trying to
understand why there isn't an option to:
    a) get the original media files from the Connect admin to
    sync the audio and re-upload
    b) import an audio file into the recording from the original
    meeting on the Connect server
    c) export the synchronized presentation with Presenter as a
single Flash movie, or something similarly useful
Any help we could get would be greatly appreciated!

  • So Wat to do? Is there any way to get out as a single swf file from captivate.

    Dear friends,
I am beginner in Adobe Captivate. We have a E-learning
project. We are using Dockers as our LMS. Previously we were using
Flash for all. Now we are trying Captivate for better and faster
results. I have few swf files and i inserted al files in Captivate
and i published. So instead of getting single output, am getting
all the swfs, skin swf and html file. Html file is accessing all
swfs and works. But it is not working in Dockers. Single swf will
only work in Dockers. So Wat to do? Is there any way to get out as
a single swf file from captivate. please Help mee.
    Thanks
    Flashlover

If 'Dockers' cannot handle a .zip file as the content and
    instead
requires a single, uncompressed content file, then it is not
SCORM-compliant. The SCORM specification requires the LMS to
    handle a
'pif' file (most common is .zip) which contains the lesson
    and the
required manifest file. If Dockers doesn't support that then
    you can't
    do SCORM-compliant content.

  • How to use aggregator to create a single swf file from multiple files

    Hi everyone,
I am working on the client's requirement where i have to create a SCROM 2004 based video. Its basically a PPT inside the captivate file. And it has around 175 slides in the file. Some of the slides have animations, voiceover. I am facing a problem during PUBLISHING the file into single SWF file format. Whenever I Publish the slides as SWF, it creates number of SWF files, Swf skin of the player and other manifest, Scorm 2004 files.
I want only one single SWF file in which every slide should be incorporated in it. Dont know, why it is happening? I tried aggregator for this also, but it didnt worked... The Skin.swf has been easily added and no other files are adding. It shows me an error: "Name.swf is not a AS3 Captivate file ....."
I am new to this. Please help me out as I have a very short deadline for this.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Script to search all files in specified folder for multiple string text values listed in a source file and output each match to one single results txt file

I have been searching high and low for this one.  I have a vbscript that can successfully perform the function if one file is listed.  It does a Wscript.echo on the results and if I run this via command using cscript, I can output to a text file
that way.  However, I cannot seem to get it to work properly if I want it to search ALL the files in the folder.  At one point, I was able to have it create the output file and appear as if it worked, but it never showed any results when the script
was executed and folder was scanned.  So I am going back to the drawing board and starting from the beginning.
I also have a txt file that contains the list of string text entries I would like it to search for.  Just for testing, I placed 4 lines of sample text and one single matching text in various target files and nothing comes back.  The current script
I use for each file has been executed with a few hundred string text lines I want it to search against to well over one thousand.  It might take awhile, but it works every time. The purpose is to let this run against various log files in a folder and
let it search.  There is no deleting, moving, changing of either the target folder/files to run against, nor of the file that contains the strings to search for.  It is a search (read) only function, going thru the entire contents of the folder and
when done, performs the loop function and onto the next file to repeat the process until all files are searched.  When completed, instead of running a cscript to execute the script and outputting the results to text, I am trying to create that as part
of the overall script.  Saving yet another step for me to do.
My current script is set to append to the same results file and will echo [name of file I am searching]:  No errors found.  Otherwise, the
output shows the filename and the string text that matched.  Because the results append to it, I can only run the script against each file separately or create individual output names.  I would rather not do that if I could include it all in one.
This would also free me from babysitting it and running each file script separately upon the other's completion.  I can continue with my job and come back later and view the completed report all in one.  So
if I could perform this on an entire folder, then I would want the entries to include the filename, the line number that the match occurred on in that file and the string text that was matched (each occurrence).  I don't want the entire line to be listed
where the error was, just the match itself.
Example:  (In the event this doesn't display correctly below, each match, it's corresponding filename and line number all go together on the same line.  It somehow posted the example jumbled when I listed it)
    File1.txt Line 54
    Job terminated unexpectedly
File1.txt Line 58 Process not completed
    File1.txt
Line 101 User input not provided
    File1.txt
    Line 105  Process not completed
    File2.txt
    No errors found
    File3.txt
Line 35 No tape media found
    File3.txt
    Line 156 Bad surface media
    File3.txt Line 188
    Process terminated
Those are just random fake examples for this post.
This allows me to perform analysis on a set of files for various projects I am doing.  Later on, when the entire search is completed, I can go back to the results file and look and see what files had items I wish to follow up on.  Therefore, the
line number that each match was found on will allow me to see the big picture of what was going on when the entry was logged.
I actually import the results file into a spreadsheet, where further information is stored regarding each individual text string I am using.  Very useful.
If you know how I can successfully achieve this in one script, please share.  I have seen plenty of posts out there where people have requested all different aspects of it, but I have yet to see it all put together in one and work successfully.
    Thanks for helping.

I'm sorry.  I was so consumed in locating the issue that I completely overlooked posting what exactly I was needing  help with.   I did have one created, but I came across one that seemed more organized than what I originally created.  Later
on I would learn that I had an error in log location on my original script and therefore thought it wasn't working properly.  Now that I am thinking that I am pretty close to achieving what I want with this one, I am just going to stick with it.
However, I could still use help on it.  I am not sure what I did not set correctly or perhaps overlooking as a typing error that my very last line of this throws an "Expected Statement" error.  If I end with End, then it still gives same
    results.
So to give credit where I located this:
    http://vbscriptwmi.uw.hu/ch12lev1sec7.html
I then adjusted it for what I was doing.
What this does does is it searches thru log files in a directory you specify when prompted.  It looks for words that are contained in another file; objFile2, and outputs the results of all matching words in each of those log files to another file:  errors.log
Once all files are scanned to the end, the objects are closed and then a message is echoed letting you know (whether there errors found or not), so you know the script has been completed.
What I had hoped to achieve was an output to the errors.log (when matches were found) the file name, the line number that match was located on in that file and what was the actual string text (not the whole line) that matched.  That way, I can go directly
to each instance for particular events if further analysis is needed later on.
So I could use help on what statement should I be closing this with.  What event, events or error did I overlook that I keep getting prompted for that.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • How to publish a single SWF file?

Hello, I need to know how can I publish a single SWF file
    (like the EXE option).
I've tryied to publish many times, but the Captivate creates
many SWF files, including the skin.swf file, but this one I know
    how to remove.
    I'm using Captivate 3.0.
    Thank you!

  • Video and skin in single swf file... sigh....

    Hi all,
This may be an obvious one to some of you but I have been
tearing my hair out for several days and cannot find detailed
information on what I am trying to do anywhere...
I have a requirment to convert several short DV video files
to SWF so I can publish on a web page. The finished products need
to be a single SWF files.
Importantly they also need to include a control skin.
I have been trying to use both Flash CS3 and Captivate 3 to
do this with no success. (I have found info on how to do it with
Captivate, i.e. remove borders etc, but that presents some other
problems which I won't go in to here as it's a different topic)
Is what I am trying to do possible inside Flash ? Surely it
is?! Can I import a DV video, add a control skin and publish it all
    as a single SWF ?
I believe there are shareware third party products that can
do this, but I really want to use Flash and I can't understand why
it appears to be so difficult. (unless I am missing something
    obvious...)
So if anyone coudl help that would be fantastic, even if
that's just pointing me in the direction of some reading material..
    Cheers.

    oconndav,
    > Is what I am trying to do possible inside Flash ? Surely
    it is?!
    It is. :)
    > Can I import a DV video, add a control skin and publish
    it all
    > as a single SWF ?
You can, but be aware that video -- especially sizable video
    -- works
best when the FLV file is situated outside the SWF. I
    understand that your
project requirements dictate otherwise, which makes this a
    bit of a
challenge, but you can put everything into a single SWF. It
    just means
you'll be building your elements by hand and will control the
    video as if it
were a movie clip (that is, a MovieClip class instance)
    instead of an
FLVPlayback instance or Video instance in conjunction with
    NetConnection and
    NetStream instances.
    > I believe there are shareware third party products that
    can do
    > this, but I really want to use Flash and I can't
    understand why
    > it appears to be so difficult. (unless I am missing
    something
    > obvious...)
Well, again, heavy Video files aren't really designed to
    play inside
SWFs. For whatever reasons Macromedia/Adobe chose, video is
    ideally
designed to be controlled as an external asset.
In your case, you won't be able to use the FLVPlayback
    component. You
won't even be able to use the older Media components or the
    component-less
Video object solution. You'll import your video asset to the
    Library, place
it inside a movie clip symbol (which will stretch to an
    incredible length),
then place your movie clip on the Stage and give it an
    instance name. Once
it has an instance name, you can refer to it with
    ActionScript. The
MovieClip class entry of the ActionScript 2.0 Language
    Reference (or 3.0, if
you're uasing AS3) will give you everything you need to know
    (and can do)
    with movie clips.
ActionScript will give you access to the total number of
    frames of that
clip, as well as the current frame. You can tell the playhead
    to go to any
of its frames, play, stop, etc. In this way, you can mimic
    many of the
capabilities of the FLVPlayback component -- though with less
    precision.
The "skin" of your video player will be determined by you
    ... by button
symbols for the buttons (or you could use movie clips), as
    well as other
graphic elements. It's going to be a totally
    built-from-scratch project,
and you'll have to program the buttons yourself. How would
    you rate your
    comfort level with ActionScript?

  • Not able to publish project as a single swf File

    Hello Captivate experts.
I have a problem publishing only one swf file with Captivate.
My project consists of three slides. The first one is a introduction Slide, the second and the third one only contain one swf  each (swf that i also created with captivate).
These files are the files who always get published together with the main .swf. So after publishing I got three swfs instead of only one
I know that a topic like this has been discussed, especially because of the new feature of Captivate 4 wich allows to export only one file, but so far i haven't read anything about swf files that can not be included. (I only found that flash video can not be inserted into a single swf).
I realized that this problem only occurs with swf files created with captivate. Swf files created with Flash don't result in a septerated file.
Did anybody have this problem before? Does anyone know a workaround?
    Thanks in advance
    captiware

    HI Captiware,
When you insert a swf, which was created from Captivate, as animation into Captivate and publish => the swfs are kept external. This is by design.

  • Creating single .swf file without border causes control bar jump

If the goal is creating a single .swf file and the answer is
to simply uncheck the border checkbox, there's a small problem. If
there is a Captivate control bar -- in my case a full length
stretched one -- it will ride up and over the Captivate movie,
covering some of the movie. In my case the control bar is riding up
and over several buttons referenced in the project, screwing things
    up considerably.
How can we keep the control bar from riding up -- or more
specifically perhaps being loaded over top of the project -- such
that it obscures part of the project?
Quick answers would be really fantastic!
    Thanks!

    Thanks Paul,
That did work. I use a pretty stripped down control bar so
adding in 27 pixles works. A cohort mentioned that Captivate 1
required a similar work around -- though it only produced a single
file. It'd have been nice to have known before her co-worker.
It's too bad there's not some verbage somewhere -- maybe in
the help -- that explains that adding a control bar to an exisiting
project will result in the toolbar obscuring some of the project --
how much depending on the size of the control bar.
It'd be great to have a little checkbox that would allow the
project to expand the exact number of needed pixels so that the
project and control bar were nearly mated together.
To come full circle, after I've done this and gotten the two
together, I have to resize again -- this time down -- for my
    project.
So after making it bigger to fit the control bar, I resize it
again to make it smaller, make adjustments to the text -- which
doesn't seem to scale -- and to the caption boxes that don't mate
exactly anymore and publish. What I found is that the file size is
now closer to the original "larger" project file.
I find this curious, as I was finding when the control bar
was on top of the project before learning this workaround that the
file size for a smaller resolution project was actually turning out
larger. That never made sense to me.
After the workaround, it's actually close to the same size.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Creating single SWF file

    Hi,
I have several mp3 files that I use in my Flash animation but I want to publish this animation as a single SWF file. Don't want the mp3 to be also made available along with the SWF. Can you please tell me how to do this ?
    -Thanks

Since I am not sure if your question was about security, you can use Sound and SoundChannel classes to stream mp3s at runtime. This way you don't need to include these files with your SWF and sound stream is more controllable.
There are many tutorials on how to do that, inclusing Adobe documentation:
    http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/media/Sound.html
    http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/media/SoundChannel.htm l
As for the security, DRM is a big expensive thing that is not affordable for the majority of us. In addition, there are tons of free stream sniffers on the web that extract media very easily.

  • Captivate 7 - How to publish into a single swf file?

Our Authoring tool has been designed to cater for Captivat swf files for video uploads. Now that we have upgraded to Captivate 7 the swf - is merely a 'holden cache file' the video content is saved in the .mp4 file. Our programmer tells us that it will take some time to reprogramme this. Is there a way within the Captivate 7 publishing settings to still create a .swf file which will be able to stream the entire video content when uploaded or to generate a single swf file with all content?
Thank you so much! We are trying superfast to adapt to all the different changes and really appreciate you input.

OK, only solution I've found is to use a 3rd party program - try cutePDF.
    Thanks for nothing HP!

let me know the solution for this one.
    thanks inadvance.

Pl post details of OS, database and EBS versions.
Pl elaborate on your requirements. Assuming you are using XML/BI Publisher, the physical output file will be a single file, but you can use XML/BI Publisher bursting features to separate out different outputs.

Example: Source: test.fla with 5 frames exported to:
