A single vertical line, please help! :)

Hi,
I have a PowerBook G3 Pismo and a pink vertical line just randomly appeared on the screen and I can't get rid of it? Somebody please help and tell me what to do here. It just happened and nothing changed hardware/software wise on the machine.

Thank you for your help. This would be one of my older Macs...I have a new iMac as my workstation/server, 3 iMac G3's iMac G4, iMac G5, eMac, Mac Mini, PowerBook G4, 2 iBook G4s, iBook G3, MacBook, MacBook Pro...I think that I could live with the line on the screen, but it would be nice if I could replace the whole display/ribbon cable assembly to make it even better. I upgraded the entire machine inside and out except for the display and when I finished..I turned it on and it was fine..about 3 weeks later a pink line appeared...seems that it could be a simple pinched/broken cable? Who knows, but I wish I could connect it to an external monitor..missing that VGA adapter..thanks though..I wonder why it randomly appeared when the display hinge was rarely opened/closed..any ideas why it is only a single line and not multiple? I showed it to my friend who is into tech and he believes that that particular column of pixels are simply dead..appreciate it..

Macbook Vertical Lines, PLEASE HELP ME!

I spilled water on my mac for the second time (Macbook Pro 13 Inch). I fixed it when it spilled the first time, logic board, keyboard and so forth which was expensive. When I spilled it again today, I quickly cleaned it up and maked sure it was clean. I put the computer in sleep mode, and opened it and it worked. I was relieved. Now im panicking. I dont want to fix it and use money. Any HELP is GREATLY APPRECIATED. Now my computer is in a Inverted V position. What can I do?

In the case of the MacBook Pro, the logic board can cost half the price of a new Mac, so it's very expensive.
You can try making a PRAM reset, but it's clearly a hardware problem

Single Vertical Line When Using ADF for Scan or Copy on HP Officejet Pro 8600

HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium Printer (CN577A)
OS: MS 7 64 bit
When using the ADF for my CN577A HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium printer, I get a single vertical line on the document that is produced. This occurs when copying or scanning, both in black and white, and in color. If I scan or copy using the glass, I don't get the vertical line.
I already tried the troubleshooting. I unplugged the printer, left it without power for several minutes; that didn't correct the problem. Next, I cleaned the rollers and the glass; I still get the vertical line, but only when using the ADF.
My firmware version used is current (CLP1CN1150CR).
What should I check next?

The ADF uses its own glass area on the scanner bed, it is the narrow (about 1" wide) strip on the left. Cleaning this area should resolve the issue. A single small spot would cause the issue you are seeing.

bpruse, I may be completely off-track for your issue, but I had a similar situation where I wanted to downgrade a Mac Pro from Server to plain OS X and it would not boot from the OS X install disk.
I was attempting to use a full-install OS X.6.x disc with an earlier SL version than that which originally came installed on the Mac Pro. After two or three hours of fiddling, I figured it out and used the discs that came with the system.
However, I don't know how that would work in your case if this is the mini server-version. I'm sure the disks would only have Server on them. Worse-case scenario, find out which X.6.x the OEM disc is installing and get an OS X disc with a new installer.

Acrobat Pro XI is not recognizing Word 2013 files when I try to combine files in a single PDF. Please help.

I recently upgraded to Office 2013. Everything seems to be working fine with Acrobat Pro XI, except when I try to combine Word 2013 files into a single PDF, I get this message: "Acrobat does not support the conversion of one or more of your files to PDF. . . ." Please help. Thanks.

I've opened both Word and Excel. The Acrobat ribbon is showing in both programs and I did some test things and they seem to be working fine. However, I still cannot see or use formats other than pdf in the Acrobat Pro program. Is there another setting that needs to be adjusted?

Can you move a single vertical line in a table in Indesign ?

Ok I have a very complex medical form with several rows and columns. The problem is that I want to move just sections of a column line and I can't seem to figure it out. Below is a screen shot of part of the form. The vertical line between 1st QA and 2nd QA is what I'm talking about. The one you see I drew but I'd prefer to have that as an actual column line. Make Sense ? Thanks for any help.

What I was suggesting is this:
1) Unmerge that cell, so that it now is split into the 4 columns, as above.
2) Split the 2nd column's cell into two (not the whole column—just that cell).
3) Merge cells 1 & 2, and 3-5 in that row. Now you have a divider that you can move without affect the rest of the table, because it will be hidden everywhere else. Make sure to hold down SHIFT as you drag to move it without resizing the table.
That new column is there all the way up, but InDesign will see the cells above that as being merged.
Unlike Word & PPT, InDesign sees tables as rigid structures—and I prefer it that way—as opposed to how Word & PPT allow you to move them independently after merging. That usually creates more work keeping everything aligned.
Here's another method:
1) Keep the cell merged as it is, but make the margins 0.
2) Insert a new 2 column, 1 row table in that cell and resize.
3) Remove all the borders except the middle vertical divider.
That method is a little funky—and it won't resize automatically with the rest of the table if you want that—but it kind of works in a pinch.

2 problems. The instructions are to first replace each 's' with '$' and then print each word to a new line. Here is an example:

your first post was the one which you really wanted to use for the assignment in order to get the output you desire. anyways like jverd said that you cannot update string because they are immutable. you can always do this
makeMoney[i] = makeMoney.replace(blah blah).

50 fps is play to fast on time line , PLEASE HELP EMERGEANCY

Hi.
We has shooted yesterday on RED in 3K 50fps(slow motion)
When i play QT rpoxy files, its OK, but when i do Log&Transfer RED files in FC and then put them on timeline they play very fast! The FCP creat automaticly project with 25fps.I tryed to convert with REDRushes to ProRes422 files. And get same result.They play Ok in QuickTime but play fast on timeline when i drag them.Just one differece is- Proxy files dont play on time line(i get red line,- need to render),but converted qt files(ProRes) play with no prob on timeline(but very fast)
Ok, Of course i can do render proxy files in FC(Need Render),but he need 24hours for it.Bu i have not much time
What shoud i do?!!

Call your local user's group and see if someone with a much faster computer will come to your help. I don't think you can move forward until you render. Once rendered you should be able to change the speed of the clip to anything you want or need (modify - change speed - etc.). I hope someone who knows more than me responds, but that's all I can think of.

15" LCD has many thin colored vertical lines. HELP!

I have Model # a1286 I think. It is a mid-2009 model. There are so many vertical, and some horizontal, lines blocking a third of my screen. It looks like there is a crack but the glass isn't broken, just lines on screen. HELP! I have no warranty, this started exactly 3 months after 1 yr. warranty was up and I have no Applecare. I know part or all of the problem is the LCD because a screenshot does not show the lines. If you press on the screen, the lines change color or it just adds more lines.
I am 3 hours from an Apple store but I will take it I have to.
It is not the same as the "strange vertical lines" issue. Each line is the width of a pin but goes down the whole screen and colors are pink, red, green, blue, yellow and light blue and there is now a BIG thick white bars with the lines over them (sese pic).
I attached an iphone picture but it is kind of dark. I will retake a brighter picture tomorrow.

The picture is OK; it tells the story quite well.
Can you connect an external monitor? If the problem goes away on the external, that indicates a fault in the built-in display assembly, but not the graphics chipset or the logic board.

IPhone 4s camera issue, extra grid line - please help!

Hi everyone,
I have a lovely new 4s, have had it for less than 24 hours and there is a problem with the camera that I cannot find anywhere else on the web yet... I have an extra grid line that does not disappear and which does show up on the photos I take!
Details: the grid line is on the main rear facing camera only; it is there whether the grid is turned on or off; it appears as a grid line on the photos you take; the camera is up-to-date with the latest version; I have tried restarting the phone; it only happened after I switched to HDR mode and then when I turned HDR off, this mysterious extra grid line was there; the line is only there in photo mode - it disappears when switched to video mode...
and I think that's those are all the details I can give you!
Is anyone experiencing / experienced this same problem? If so, please help!! Thank you so much!

Hi KiltedTim. Thanks, yes, I will definitely have to do this if I can't get rid of it - just so annoying, because won't be able to go for a while, until after the Christmas holidays, which means I'll be without my cool iPhone camera!
Also - the one thing I forgot to mention in my original post is that I took several photos which all came out perfectly. The issue only happened after the first time I switched HDR mode on and then turned it back off.

Strange effect over clickable items (Box of lines) please help!

Are you seeing the hashmarks on the clickable items that I am? I'm not following the "lovely" aspects you mention!

This has come up before and I'm researching to refresh my memory as to whether it's a software or hardware problem. I'm thinking hardware, but I also notice you have some question-mark icons in the Dock, indicating some programs have lost their associations with the Dock icos.
Does this persist after a restart? What happens if you repair permissions? Do you have your original gray system disks so you can run Apple Hardware Test?

Vertical Blue Lines - Please help!!

I've got a G5 with 2 30" Cinema Screens. On my main screen there are often vertical blue lines that appear. I was told that this might be a graphics card issue and that I should unplug one of the screens. I've done that & if anything the blue lines are worse...
Having done a search I've found some archived questions but they don't have any solved answers. Is my screen totally bust & needing to go back to apple or can I change some settings here?

Could still very well be your video card. It probably has some bit addressing issues. Try swapping video cards with a friend or have the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store use a good video card to diagnose the problem. If the blue lines disappear, replace the video card.
If the blue lines still appear on your displays, then run Apple Hardware Test and check for any error codes. Write down any error codes and bring them to your local Apple Store. Either way, you are looking at a display replacement and/or repair.

R9 270x ITX Wide Red Lines, Please Help

Hi Guys. Just returned home from purchasing my new MSI R9 270x ITX GPU. As soon as it boots I am getting two wide vertical red lines. They are also present inside the bios of my MSI motherboard as well and it will NOT boot into windows at all, just a black screen. The fan on the GPU is spinning. I have reseated the card several times and used compressed air to blow out the pcie slot. I even swapped hdmi cables. I ran two HD5750's in a crossfire setup with no issue whatsoever. I DID have to send this MSI motherboard in for an RMA to which they sent me a refurbed unit. If it was the motherboard wouldn't my old GPU's have the same issue? Did I get a bad card? Any help is appreciated.

Nichrome, sadly I do not have that old vga cable anymore nor do I have a dvi cable and the backup monitor I was going to use to test with doesn't support hdmi. I don't even have a neighbor I could borrow from. I DID however try a second hdmi cable and it the red lines were still displayed.

A single vertical line, please help! :)
