A SOFTWARE AUTOUPDATE PROB

I've tried to run the Software Autoupdate on my PC and after Accepting the terms, installing the acti'veX and install the required file that pops out on it's own, I always get that standard windows error message saying Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close, Send, Don't send error report.. You follow me? Anybody else having this problem?I'd appreciate some suggestions on how I may fix this F***ed up error.. Dri'ves me mad!:angry:Tnx

My advice is don't bother, and download the required files manually.

  • Retrieving Creative System Information and Software Autoupdate Iss

    Hello,
    I've been having a problem with a few things in my X-Fi Platinum software.
    First when I attempt to retrieve the System Information using the Creative tool, I get an MS error report stating a problem with ctsi.exe and as such I've been unable to send proper information to tech support, so I'm attempting here.
    Second whenever I attempt the Software Autoupdate I get another MS error report and the program closes down stating a problem with iexplore.exe . I get as far as installing the Acti've X controls, but shortly after installation the error report pops up and my browser closes down. I've attempted to remove the Acti've X controls and reinstall it but to no avail. I've un then reinstalled the software and drivers but with no hope towards this issue. I have reinstalled IE
    These features were working for me on my last configuration, however after changing motherboards when the previous died, it has come to an abrupt end. The previous motherboard was an older version from the newly installed. I am unable to determine if this is a mobo issue as the only problem I have with this system is certain aspects of the sound cards' software, and the mobo is the only change that has been made.
    My relevant system specs are as follows:
    Motherboard: Asus P4P800 SE
    CPU: 3.0 GHz Intel Pentium Prescott
    RAM: Gb Kingston
    Chipset: Intel 865PE, ICH5R
    OS: Windows Media Center 2005 Edition
    I have attempted a clean install of the operating system itself, installed all Windows updates aside from .NET Framework 2.0, and also reintalled Direct X.
    I looked into other trouble threads with no solution found although there may seem to be Asus issues, the only difference is a slightly different model, (previous motherboard was an Asus P4P800X and everything ran fine with the Creative software). These are the only two features that are not working for me, every other aspect runs perfectly fine. On my previous configuration, there were a few critical updates installed, however when searching the downloads section, those same updates are not available there. MCE and XP I understand are almost hand in hand, but would rather not use the wrong firmware or drivers by any means.
    I am at a loss, any help would be greatly appreciated including any relevant threads I may have overlooked. If any other information is needed to troubleshoot the issue, please let me know.

  • Software Autoupdate and Creative Zen Xtra 30GB Mp3 Pla

    Hi,
    I recieved a replacement for my Zen Xtra which broke under warranty (very unimpressed with Creative at the moment) and since the scroll wheel wasn't working properly I installed the latest firmware and now that's OK.
    However while using the Software Autoupdate to do this I also installed the latest of all the other software for the mp3 player. Since this I haven't been able to use my DVD player at all (It's still installed but doesn't notice any disks) - the two are DEFINATELY related since it stopped working virtually as the software installed. Everything I could download there (Mediasource etc) installed except for the Jukebox drivers which give an error.
    The other problem is that although I've been able to uninstall all the other stuff Mediasource is still installed and is stuck that way - "An installation support file could not be installed. The system could not find the file specified." - looks like Creative haven't updated their uninstall program for the new version of Mediasource to me.
    I've emailed Creative technical support but I wondered if anyone here'd had the same problem and is there any way to fix it without formatting? (It'll be impossible to format and reinstall XP without a working DVD dri've...).
    Could anyone link me some sort of iso/bin/etc of the CD that comes with the player itself? I might be able to install that with Daemon Tools and then see if I can persuade it to uninstall itself then.
    Any ideas?

    Anecdotally they will honour the warranty of the country you purchased in, so 90 days parts and labour for the USA, and you might get another 9 months parts only...

  • Software Autoupdate crashes Internet Explo

    Hi
    I can no longer use the Software Autoupdate web page on Creatives support pages.
    The Acti'veX module Software Autoupdate Support Package seems to crash the explorer when it is started. I get the send the error message to Microsoft dialog when I try. Everytime.
    What is wrong? How can I investigate this and find out what is causing the problem?

    To the best of my knowledge that is one of the reason Dan K. started modding the packs was so that the drivers and installable applications worked seamlessly during installation of 32 and 64 bit opsystem driver installs. If you are installing some 32 bit apps on a 64 bit system, they sometimes hang and do nothing. But since you are not running a 64 bit system. you may not have seen these types of errors, but you will get there soon.
    Ram is really reasonably priced right now, and I love the responsi'veness of my 64 bit vista system.
    Some of your users with the PAX sets may have errors with your unified installs unless they run them in compatibility mode, but I have not run one of your sets in a while. Cheers to you though, and keep doing what you are doing, both to you Robert and to the original poster of the thread.

  • Software install probs

    i am haeing a general poblem i don't know why. when i try and install the software quick time from one site it automatically starts installing it. but then nothing is happening. I tried to search the other sources and read some aticles on the internet but then also i am not getting anywhere.

    Rite, sorry for not replying but had to get 7.3. All installed various times now but nope, still nothing. when i try to launch the app all it does is bounce, thats it, in still wont open let alone give me somewhere to put in the reg code....what am i doing wrong????? i'm loosing the will to live with it

  • SoundBlaster Live Software Installation Prob

    After two weeks of working with support to no avail i find out through this board there are other people having very similar problems. I am running XP home on an emachines system with on-board sound.
    When i install the hardware and software card runs fine. After i reboot i can no longer get it to run. I have gone through all the deinstallation routines along with the clean boot. Support has bailed out on me and told me i am sol.
    Anybody have any ideas?

    I can't do autoUpdate with creative support on line because when it will be starting he crashes?

    Check the contents of "e" - it should give you more information. You could also enable break on any
    exception, by going to Debug -> Exceptions and ticking "Common Language Runtime exceptions".

    I keep getting 'some components are corrupted' when I try autoupdate! I've reinstalled the Acti'veX components several times but keep getting it. Is there anything else I might try?
    I don't need to update drivers or anything since those on the CD is the latest but it would be nice if autoupdate would work in the future...

    LOL, I was right. Its much cheaper to buy a plat or better in the st place. If the UK price is in pounds, think thats the L symbol, then the cost for bay later is running about $20 for just the dri've so figure 30 for card and 20 for the dri've = Approx $250 and if had just bought plat for $99 would of saved $50 or so. I learned my lesson back when I bought an A2 without dri've thinking would be affordable later. If your card isnt past return date maybe cheapest thing would be to exchange upgrade to plat or better.

  • ACE: a class-map with multiple ports... what about the probe/serverfarm?

    One question about something I was not able to find in the documentation.
    Lets say I have one class-map which includes 2 ports (in this case https and 5061).
    Can I associate this class-map to just 1 generic serverfarm and probe for both ports or I have to specify 2 serverfarms/rservers/probes?
    So, by not specifying the ports on the rserver, if a request is received on port 443 (or 5061), it is sent to the same respective port on the rserver?
    The same way is valid for the generic probe.  ACE module is able to probe both ports based on the class-map?

    Even if you use the 4710 appliance or expect the inheritance in the module software, it's worth considering if this is really what you want. If you keep multiple ports in the L3/L4 class-map you can't handle the services independently. You will have a common serverfarm for both https and 5061. If https service stops on one rserver, the ACE will place that rserver (and not that service) in out-of-operation state and it won't receive any 5061 traffic either. (You have the fail-on-all probe option but I wouldn't say it's a better choice. In that case, https traffic would be sent to the rserver even if https port is closed as long as there is at least one working service on it.) That's why I prefer a separate class-map and separate serverfarm for each service. (They can contain the same rservers, no need to duplicate.) BUT if the software supports probe port inheritance, you can benefit from it even in this scenario: serverfarm-443 and serverfarm-5061 can both use your PROBE_GENERIC_TCP.

    Ive had a audigy card off my brother , he updated his to an audigy2. Now he could not find the drivers.
    So i've downloaded the drivers from creative lab. Installed the card driver and i get sound. Now i try to install the sound blaster pack to have mixer playcenter ,etc. It keeps coming up No sound found.
    I have winxp sp2 . I can install my old sb li've 5. digital,with no problem . Its just the audigy card i have problems with.

    I had the same problem. Easy solution: use the Software AutoUpdate from the creative site that can be found under support.

  • OUTLOOK 2003 Synch Issue fixed by Software Plu

    Anyone who visits these forums regularly will know that my major problem with my own Zen Micro has been the fact that the player , running first the 2.00.2 and then the 2..02 BETA firmwares would not synch the CALENDAR with Microsoft Outlook 2003. It would synch Tasks and Contacts though which was odd. This was a known issue when discussed with SUPPORT.
    I did a software autoupdate last night and downloaded the "Creative MediaSource Plugin for PlaysforSure devices (version .00.8)"
    (Also - the 2..02 is no longer BETA although no new download was required - see seperate thread))
    The Outlook calendar synch now works correctly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I have just run and there was one update available. The update was for AutoUpdate itself. After installing it the AutoUpdate application has been rendered completely useless.     Here's how I got rid of the latest Creative Software AutoUpdate installed package. Right-click on the desktop "Internet Explorer" Icon, select "Properties". Select the tab "Programs". Click on the "Manage Add-ons" radio button. Under "Show" use the menu pull-down the select "Downloaded Acti'veX Controls either (32-bit or 64-bit). Highlight both creative downloaded Acti'veX controls,? one at a time and click "Delete". ...and wait for creative to release a updated version of the Creative Software AutoUpdate installed package. Do not use the Creative Software AutoUpdate software, if needed, go to creatives download webpage and download the drivers and software updates there.

    Creative! Sort this out. It is a fault at yr end - I've just re-installed XP cleanly and used the original driver/software disks and the fault occurs on first use of the autoupdater. This was with IE6. It happened with IE7 initially, hence the re-install.
