A solution to my WiFI problem - how to find WiFi ID or Airport ID of iphone

I had another WiFi problem which I finally solved- we have an Airport network which restricts users - I tried for a long time to find the airport ID or WIFI ID of my iphone - to allow access of my new iphone to our home network. I finally found it - you can find it on your iphone under: Settings - General - About
Once you open your Airport admin utility, you can just add this ID to the list of devices you allow in your network. Anyways, I hope this helps if anyone else had this problem.

Yes, I did that the first day I was able to access those features, and it did connect then, but now, all I get is the E icon, even though WiFi is ON and my AirPort network is selected. I went back into the AirPort Admin Utility and confirmed that the iPhone is on the list, I had the iPhone "forget" the AirPort network, restarted the AIrPort and tried reconnecting the iPhone (as suggested on another post) but it still doesn't connect, despite showing that the AirPort is selected and has good signal strength.

Tap Settings App > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. See if fixed. If still problem, Restore iPhone with iTunes 10.7 on computer. See if fixed. If still problem and there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

It should connect properly with your iPad mini, but it requires an App. Also mentioned on Garmins' site.

Hi, loaded ios 6 last night and wifi worked fine at home. Came into work where I have logged on fine before: Now, I connect to wifi and it connects, a login screen pops up, and then says "success". Then there is then nothing! The login screen doesn't go away and wifi icon disappears if you cancel the login screen - any ideas please?

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

In order to make sure you are getting the best WIFI signal for your device. Is your device on the current software version? You can check the software version by going into settings, general, software update. Your verison should be 6.1.4, if it is showing different. Please follow the steps to update your software on the device. Once this is completed test to make sure your device WIFI is now acting correctly.

[Solved] Setting up wifi manually - how to find WPA2 key

HI, just getting Arch all setup. Relative Linux newcomer.
I've been following the manual Wi-fi setup guide and can't get passed the following line:
# wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -c <(wpa_passphrase your_SSID your_key)
where do I get 'your_key' from? It's not in the Access Point Discovery?? Also if I have a wifi named John's Stupid Network. Then for the 'your_SSID' section should I input 'John\'s\ Stupid\ Network'?
Sorry if these are stupid questions.

I agree it is. It's not the actual network name. The real one is "Pat's Mac Network". He's quite obsessed with apple products.
I've just revisited the wiki page. Turns out I was a bit hasty in my read through - I thought the appearance of RSN and WPA info blocks (when I ran ' iw dev wlan0 scan | less') meant it was WPA2. However I now realise that wasn't true.
In the RSN info block:
Version: 1
Group cipher: TKIP
Pairwise ciphers CCMP TKIP
Authentication suites: PSK
the WPA info block is the same except it only lists TKIP in the 'pairwise ciphers'.
What command would I use to sign into these? I just tried the other two types for WEP on the wiki and neither worked.
edit: just found out about the wpa_passphrase setting from https://unix.stackexchange.com/question … arch-linux which I have now done. Still doesn't work.
