A song I just downloaded wont play

I just downloaded Last Night by Diddy and it wont play. All my other songs play and the Diddy song shows the Album Art. the only thing I notice thats different is it doesn't say Protected AAC Audio File. Its just blank. What do I do? I dont want to but the song twice

I have the same issue with the same song. Itunes will play it, but my Ipod will skip several songs on the album before it starts to play.

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting it from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking them to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTune) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

My computer is authorised however some of the songs that I have downloaded wont play?

I have just downloaded some music from Itunes. Some of the songs will play but some say that I need to authorise the computer. I put in the details, it comes up with a box that says 'the computer is already authorised and that I have used 4 or the 5 authorisations available' however the songs will not play. It a repeating loop, I click on the song and it tells me that I need to authorise again. All of the songs were downloaded at the same time to the same computer?

Interestingly I have been into the Itunes Store and looked at the items that I have downloaded and they seem to play fine. But in the library it keeps saying that I need to authorise the computer when it is already authorised. I have already deleted it and re-installed it but nothing...... When I go to the track that doesnt work there is nor Purchased By information (although the apple ID is present). The other songs that do work, do have the Purchased By information. Will this be the cause of the problem? how on earlth do I get around it?

You don't say whether you are on PC or Mac. For Mac there are these two programs which might help (I havn't tried either) :

There are probably similar programs for PCs, but I don't know what they are. On a PC you can hold the shift key and do File > Display Exact Duplicates (without the shift they may not be exact matches) - if one of each duplicate pair has the same date added then you can sort by that and then delete those with (or without) that date.

Some songs won't download or play from iCloud

So I recently subscribed to iTunes Match to convert about 700 old songs from Protected AAC 128kbps to the DRM free 256. Anyway most of it went over just fine (besides iTunes crashing 20 times while uploading to Match), I converted almost all my old songs to new "Matched" versions, but about 45 songs got stuck and are "grayed out". I can't download or play them. Here is an example:

Rest of the album downloaded fine but that song is stuck. Almost every album that I "matched" has at least one song like this.
Please help! I am getting very tired of all the issues with my apple products. These stuck songs, album artwork disapearing, play counts reseting, albums not grouping together properly, iTunes crashing while uploading to Match, my iPod touch crashing while listening to music... About to drop apple all together.
PC is Windows 8 64bit, iTunes is version 11.0.2.26.

Think I found a clue, I backed up all my DRM protected files before I started incase something like this happened. For some reason the songs that won't match are showing as purchased by my brother, but I know this isn't possible. Look at the link to the pic below, The first track (on top) is showing purchased by my brother, but the entire rest of the album is shwowing purchsed by me. So I'm supposed to believe that he bought one song on the exact same day at the exact same time as I bought the rest of the album? Something is off here...

Many albums are doing this, showing one song being bought a different account as the rest of the album, even though time a date purchsed lines up exactly...

30GB Ipod starts up songs are displayed, but wont play

I got my ipod about 2 months ago, working fine, this morning i start it up , shuffle songs, first song displays , but just sits there wont play, go forward to another song same thing, reset the pod no luck any ideas

I'm having exactly the same problem...been working fine since i bought it..then stops working today.
Tried restoring a few songs and they appeared to play but after resynching the whole of my libary, back to the no play situation. Even when trying to fast forward through a song and start playing halfway through, songs don't play.

Itunes 10, just downloaded, wont open store

I just download itunes 10 and the store wont open. this is the message that comes up, "Itunes could not connect to iTunes store. The network conection timed-out. Make sure your network settings are correct, and your network connection is active, then try again." I have the same problem. I think there is an internal error with the new version update. It was working fine about 2-3 days ago. I have ran a diagnostics and iTunes report system verified that there is an error with the 1 on 1 connection with the iTunes store and the internet connection. I have done everything the help center says to do, and yet no further. I think that iTunes needs to bring out a new update to fix this...... but then again how could we access the iTunes store to download this. The only option I can advise to Apple is that they create (and anytime soon would be good) an update to repair this internal problem and publish it to there website that will install the update manually to iTunes through the internet connection. That should fix this but how long until the main guys at Apple put there heads together and realize that there valuable customers are waiting to buy apps,videos,movies,ibooks,music etc. And cannot do this because of there faulty software. God if I can solve this problem in my head and I am only 15 then why cant they? Right now Apple is disappointing me. Especially when I am thinking of upgrading to a MacBook.

Click the little cloud icon next to the track to download the complete track to your hard drive, rather than playing a sample from the itunes store. I had the same problem until I figured this out...

I had the same problem. I went through the discussion forums here and someone suggested that the files might be corrupted. So I deleted the files that wouldn't let me play them, then re-downloaded them through the Purchased menu in the iTunes store. Now they work just fine.

If the download is truly complete--go to the store>check purchases to see if it will download again. If it won't your best option is to contact the store for help. You'll probably want to redown load the file again. Use the links inside the store page to contact Apple.

Why do the songs I just downloaded form CD not sync??

I recently purchased a new CD and downloaded it to iTunes, as I've done numerous times. The songs appear in my library and I can play them, but when I try to sync my iPod, the songs do not show up in my iPod. They are checked, so they should be added, but are not. If I check another song by a different artist that I also downloaded from a CD, that song does sync. I have tried converting the songs that won't sync to ACC (whatever that means) but still have had no luck...
Any suggestions (Other than get a new computer)????

The easiest way to handle this is to download the past purchase on your computer through iTunes, then after that just sync the iPod with iTunes. If your iPod is an iPod touch, you can download past purchases directly on the device.

HT4914 Some songs are listed, but wont play. Whats wrong?

For some reason, one or two songs in my library, that I have purchased, wont sync up to iTunes Match. It shows it linked in the music app, but its grayed out.

Ok I figured out something that fixed the problem I was having and you (TuxedoCartman) are having I think.
ctrl click all the songs that are giving you this problem, right click one when they're all selected and click "Create AAC version" I think it was, either create or convert.
Once I did that I deleted the original copies of the songs from the folders outside of the itunes library folder. Back in iTunes, click file and then show duplicates. Skip through everything in there and then delete any that have an exclimation before them. After that, I did the restore iPod stuff again.
All the songs that were doing this to me now play just fine. Hope this helps

Itunes downloads wont play in car

i have tried to download music on a usb to play in my 2009 chevy. will not play. computer shows the music is on usb. is car too old to play the downloads or can i do something to get music to play?? thanks for any help stew

Stew, there are 2 possibilities:
If you bought those tracks prior to mid-2009, they are probably DRM-protected, and will not play in any non-Apple device.
If you bought them more recently, they are in AAC format. That is Apple's favorite audio format, but it is frequently rejected by non-Apple players. Fortunately, you can use iTunes to convert AAC into standard MP3 format, per this guide:

MP3 plays in just about anything.
