A song I purchased is nowhere on my computer

I downloaded around 20 songs over a period of about 2 hours, and all but one of them showed up in my iTunes library. The purchase history shows that I did purchase the song, and when I click on the song in the iTunes store, a window pops up that says something like, "You already downloaded this. Are you sure you want to do it again?"
I ran a search for the file on my computer, and nothing came up. Anyone have any suggestions?

  • HT201272 Hi, I need to recover some songs past purchased in my lap top computer, Is there specific procedure to do that?

Hi, your help on this, I need to recover songs past purchased that were downloaded into my Laptop, Is there some procedure to recover it, My previous laptop were damage.

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

  • I've had my old ipod forever and want to transfer the music to my new account. Problem was is that these songs were purchased on my ex's computer by me adding money through gift cards I recieved or through a cc of mine and theres about $1200

worth and i've heard horror stories from other people saying they created a new account under their name after the breakup and it cleared their ipod. So question is, is it safe to do without losing songs. If songs are lost does apple have a way to find out what was on the ipod and be able to retrieve them.

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.
This is a picture of what it looks like now:

As you can see, the stuff circled in red doesn't give me an option to download from Cloud Beta because it already says "downloaded".
any way to get around that?

  • Songs I purchased on my iPhone not showing up in the cloud for download to my computer.

I purchased songs on my iPhone yesterday, and last night on my Notebook computer I was able to download the songs from the cloud with no problems.  But today, on my Desktop computer, the songs do not even show that they are available in the cloud.  All 3 devices (iPhone, Notebook, and desktop) are authorized to the same account in the cloud and have the latest updates for itunes.  Under my account information, the songs show in my purchase history, they just are not in the cloud.
Other songs I purchase last night on the notebook computer showed in the cloud and I was able to download them to both the iPhone and the Desktop.  But the songs purchased on the iPhone were not available to the Desktop.
Is there a limit to the number of devices a song can be downloaded to if purchased on the iPhone?  or is there a problem with these songs that Apple needs to fix for me?

Sounds like you're using iTunes Match. Is there a cloud icon next to the name of the song?  If yes you need not worry, those songs aren't actually on your device it just means you can download them to it.

    Hey kbert73
I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. If you want to transfer the music, check out the article below that will give you multiple options on how to move. I have also provided on how to sync with multiple computers.

Ok. So my iTunes started acting up a few months ago. ALL of the songs I purchased from the iTunes store stop in the middle of the song and then go back to the begining (I keep it on repeat one song by the way). Please help!!! (Windows 7) I would really like to hear my songs all the way through, but I can't . I tried the "Convert Protected ACC files to Purchased ACC files fix" but it DIDN'T work. I don't know what to do. It does it when I transfer the music onto my Classic too.

What do you mean "doesn't recognize"?

  • I did not sync my device to itunes before it got ruined.  How do I retrieve unsynced songs I purchased to add to my new iPhone4

I had over 80 songs I purchased through iTunes using my iTouch.  My iTouch got ruined and now I have an iPhone4.  I did not sync 50 of those songs to my iTouch.  When I visit iTunes, only 32 songs are showing up.  When I try to repurchase the lost songs, they say I have already purchased the songs.  How can I get iTunes to retrieve these songs for me so I can redownload them again.  And can I do this without purchasing the songs over again?
    HELP!!!

Thank you for your advice.  I did contact Apple and they referred me to this website only.   I'm so mad at myself.  And totally discouraged.  Yes, I will be syncing regularly from now on.

  • TS1424 Can you help me on previewing songs to purchase in itunes store?

When I preview a song to purchase, the preview plays only a few seconds instead of the 1 1/2 minutes that it used to play.  Does anyone know how to fix this or what is causing it?

Thanks for the reply!  I've been running iTM at home for a couple months now, and so I think that initial work is done. I can play iTM content on my iPhone too.
If you're not sure, it would be helpful for you to double check. Although since it has been a couple of months, and you are able to use iTM on your iPhone I suspect the initial process is finished.
How long are you waiting for the tracks to become available? When enabling iTM on an empty library like that it can sometimes take a few minutes for everything to become available, dependent on the internet speed.Looking at the screen shot, the cloud icon that has the stripes in it, next to Music, means iTunes is reading information from the server. So it could be you're just not waiting long enough for iTunes to pull the information down.
Also, since you are at work, is the IT department blocking any ports? That might also be the cause of the tracks not being playable.

  • Since I updated my phone and installed itunes on my new laptop, none of the songs I purchased from itunes will work. NOT HAPPY.

Since I last updated my phone and installed itunes on my new laptop, all the songs I purchased (and spent alot of money on) wont play on my phone or itunes on my laptop.

    thanks for the reply
it looks as though i have to download them all again because next to each song on both my phone and laptop there is a cloud with a red arrow.
i installed the itunes, then plugged my phone in and followed all the instructions- the itunes on my laptop shows all the songs but still has the cloud symbol

  • My daughter accidentally dumped my iTouch into the tub.  It is ruined.  How can I receive my one time regrant on all the songs I've lost.  There were approximately 80 songs I purchased on iTunes.  They get me through the day!  Please help!

My daughter accidentally dumped my iTouch into the bath tub.  It is ruined.  How can I receive my one time regrant to get back the 80 plus songs I purchased and downloaded on iTunes?  I'm devastated....please help!  My husband bought me the new iPhone4 for my new Mother's Day gift.  I would like to download all the songs I lost.  Thank you so much!

You can redownload the songs as many times as you want, the "one time regrant" no longer exists. Make sure you are using the same apple id on both your dead itouch and your iphone 4. On your iphone 4 go to the itunes app > Purchased (may be under more based on your settings) at the top click not on this iphone, click all songs then click the little cloud next to each song you want to redownload. It will prompt you for your id and password and the begin your download

  • I can import some songs from another computer but not others.  All the songs were purchased with the same apple id. Message says "...check connection to network..." Any ideas as to what could be causing this problem?

Using home share, I can import some songs from my son's  computer but not others.  All the songs were purchased with the same apple id.  Err msg:"There was a problem downloading ... You do not have enouggh access privileges for this operation. Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again."  The network appears to be fine .  I can import other songs from his library.  The same songs cause me a problem each time I try.  My husband had no trouble importing the same songs I have trouble with. I get the same error message if I try to import the same songs from my husbands computer as well.  "Command I" appears to show the same protections on both the songs I can import & the ones I cannot.  My husband and son are both running OS 10.6, while I am running 10.7.  I think I had this problem even before I upgraded, but I am not certain.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions..
My first suggestion is to Repair Disk. Here's how:
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need to use a utility like Tech Tool Pro or Disk Warrior
Please post back and let me know how that goes.

  • I have been sharing my iTunes account with my kids...now they are getting older and want to have their own accounts, how do I share the songs I purchased for them on my account with them on their new accounts?

I have been sharing my iTunes account with my kids...now they are getting older and want to have their own accounts, how do I share the songs I purchased for them on my account with them on their new accounts?  Is there a way to transer from my main account their new accounts?  And can I share music from my account with them?

You can't currently transfer content from one account to another account. As long as the tracks are on the computer's iTunes that they use/sync to, and your account is authorised on that iTunes, then they should be able to continue to use them.

You may have already done this, but try de-authorizing your computer (through the iTunes:Store menu) and then re-authorizing it.
