A standby problem

Hi everybody.
I am writing because I need some help with my iPhone 3G.

Well... that's the problem:
when I click on the stanby button, and the iphone goes to standby mode,
sometimes happens that when I click the stanby button againt it doesn't works
and is blocked with black screen.
The only thing I can do is keep pressed both power and home button,
then the iphone works again...
maybe for just 5 minutes, maybe for some days, maybe for one week.
but sometimes he crash again...
the problem happens only when entering and exiting the standby mode.
is a problem because if i'm waiting important calls it result blocked and doesn't work...

Hey,
If you have a protective case on the iPhone, it may be covering the proximity sensor on the iPhone.

+"Proximity sensor.+
+When you lift iPhone to your ear, the proximity sensor immediately turns off the display to save power and prevent inadvertent touches."+ from http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/sensors.html
If the issue persists after removing the protective case, try try restarting the iPhone by holding the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears> then slide to turn off> and turn the iPhone back on by pressing the Sleep/Wake again, as described on page 34 of the iPhone User Guide. http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iPhoneUserGuide.pdf
You can also restore the iPhone to rule out issues with the software running on the iPhone. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 will walk you through restoring the iPhone.
If those tips don't resolve the issue, the iPhone may need hardware repair. This article: http://www.apple.com/it/support/iphone/service/faq/ provides answers to Frequently Asked Questions related to iPhone service in Italy.

  • X200 standby problem without ultrabase

I have a refurb X200 and just the basic software so far Win XP Pro 32bit. I updated power manager and drivers and patch from the Lenovo site. When I first put it into standby either by closing the lid, Fn F4 or the start menu it goes into standby in about 3 secs. and recovers in the same time when asked to. On the second and subsequent times I try to use standby (after a reboot) it takes about 16mins to reach standby - in the meantime it shows a screen with "preparing for standby" and the system is inaccessible.  When it finally goes into standby it can be recovered in the normal 2-3 secs. The only way to gain control while it is going into standby is a hard shut down. Following this I again have one normal standby operation. I note people having standby problems with the ultrabase but I haven't tried this yet.

I would like to share with you that it might be because of software issue.
To diagnose, I would suggest you to please update the Power Manager software and also update the Bios of your notebook from the below mentioned web link.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/default.page
After this, please restart the notebook and check if the issue resolved.
    Regards,
    Sameer

  • Standby problem - Z60m

In Windows XP, sometimes when I put my Z60m into standby mode, it will not boot back up. It normally will enter the standby state correctly, with the standby light being the only indicator that is lit. After some amount of time (usually between ten to fifteen minutes), the battery light will spontaneously light up. While this light is on as well, there is no way to bring the system out of standby. Sometimes the battery light turns off again, and it is possible to bring the system back, but often it stays lit and I have to do a forced power-off and reboot the system completely. This is a bit frustrating; has anyone else had the same problem? My first thought was something to do with BIOS.

    Dear Friend !
Get used to it. It is LENOVO. Their upper-most-class million dollar computers (like my Z61p) worth  a piece of **bleep**. It looks perfect. It can give you a wonderfull short-term experience. But when you use it day after day you realise that it is UNSTABLE. I'll never recommend lenovo to anyone. Their support is even more LOL !
---- snitt --- by the way i OF COURSE have the same standby problem. I just dont post it. What for ?
They dont give a **bleep** LENOVO&MS are working on their next top-class systems. PROFIT is what matters these days. Not Quality.

  • Logical Standby Problem

My environment is Primary database is 11.1.0.7 64bit on Windows 2003 Enterprise 64bit. Logical is on the same platform and oracle version but a different server. I created a physical standby first and it applied the logs quickly without any issues. I received no errors when I changed it over to a Logical standby database. The problem that is happening is as soon as I issue the command "alter database start logical standby apply;" the CPU usage goes to 100% and the SQL apply takes a long time to apply a log. When I was doing this on 10G I never ran into this, as soon as the log was received, it was applied within a couple of minutes. I don't think it could be a memory issue since there is plenty on the Logical standby server. I just can't figure out why the SQL apply is so slow and the CPU usage skyrockets. I went through all of the steps in the guide "Managing a Logical Standby Database" from Oracle and I don't see anything wrong. The only difference between the two databases is that on the Primary I have Large Page support enabled, I don't on the Logical. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I need to use this Logical to report off of.

Thanks for the responses. I have found what is causing the problem. I kept noticing that the statements it was slowing down on were the ones where data was being written to the SYS.AUD$ table in the System tablespace on the Logical Standby database. A quick count of the records showed that I had almost 6 million records in that table. After I decided to truncate SYS.AUD$ on the Logical, the archive logs started to apply normally. I wonder why the Logical has a problem with this table and the Primary doesn't. I didn't even know auditing was turned on on the Primary database, it must be enabled by default. Now I know why my System table space has grown from 1gb to 2gb since November.
Now that I fixed it for now, I am unsure what to do to keep this from happening. Can I turn off Auditing on the Logical and keep it on for the Primary? Would this stop data from being written to the SYS.AUD$ table on the Logical? It doesn't appear that there is any kind of cleanup on this table that is offered by Oracle, I guess I can just clean out this table occasionally but that is just another thing to add to the list of maintenance tasks. I notice that you can also write this audit data to a file on the OS. Has anyone here done that?

  • Re: Standby Problem Windows XP with Satellite L350-172

    Hello
After waking up the system it works a few minutes proper but than i see bluescreen abd immediate reboot.
Do you also have those problems?
    What can i do

    Hi!
On my Satellite L300 I dont have problems with the standby.
Maybe a driver causes the problem or your BIOS should be updated.

  • Macbook Start and Standby Problem

    Hi
My Macbook Pro (Late 2009) seems to have a Problem with any kind of starting up. When i go into standby mode,(close the macbook) and open it again, it turns on for a short second, and shut down completely. It is the same with starting up when it was shut down, except it isnt always a second, sometimes it loads approximately 99% and goes off again, sometimes i have to push the power button a few times. It only starts/wake up after standby when i plug in the battery cable. And this is weird: when i press the option key at the startup, wait a few seconds, and choose the macintosh hd for the startup disk, it starts immediately. Sadly, there is no workaround for standby. That Problem started a few months ago.
I thought it was caused by the 5 years old battery, but i just replaced the battery and the hard drive a few days ago, and its still there.
I also reinstalled the OS, checked the hard drive with the disk utility, and tried a pram and srm reset.
Still no chance to start it normally, help please

70 is fine. If you want to keep it cooler, as I do because I use it on my lap, you can download smcFanControl for free from www.macupdate.com. It allows you to set your fans at a higher speed than Apple did, but doesn't allow you set it lower or interfere with acceleration under stress. If I set my fan at 3000 rpm minimum, which is silent, my temps stay in the 50s. At 3500, which is barely audible in a silent room, I can stay in the 40s. It's up to you.
The left side of my macbook can also be pushed in, or it seems as though it can, but that's been true for months without a sign of any problem.

  • Logical standby problem on primary DB updates

    Hi all!
I am quite new to standby databases, but I managed to sucessfully setup logical standby (11g on linux).
However, I got some problem - when I try to insert some data into Primary DB using simple JDBC statements, I sometimes get exception:
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-16224: Database Guard is enabled
And this happens not all the time - sometimes I can insert and commit, but sometimes I get exception.
This never happens when I am trying to insert data directly from sqlplus or TOAD.
looks to me like java application sometimes is connecting to standby database.
    any suggestions?
    Thanks

Check for example, whether both DBs present the same service and whether you have an oracle net configuration like
    myservice =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = host_A)(PORT = 1521))
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = host_B)(PORT = 1521))
          (LOAD_BALANCE = yes)
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVER = DEDICATED)
          (SERVICE_NAME = myservice)
)You should make sure that the productive service is only presented by the primary database. See this explanation:

  • Standby problem iMac

Hi, i have iMac 21.5" with iCore 5 and OS 10.7.4
    I have two problems:
    1) i can't update iTunes to 10.6.3: the answer is that the update is fake and will be downloaded and checked next Software Update. But when i launch soft upd anything change
    2) i have the 10 minutes default Standby. During standby, if i touch the keyboard soon (5 minutes after standby) it's ok. If i wait 10-15 minutes after standby, the iMac screen stay dark and start a continous sound "beep beep beep". I must restart with power button
    Please, have you some idea?
    Many thanks!!!

Three beeps mean the RAM (memory) is probably bad and needs replacing.

  • Found: Intel Turbo Memory causing T61 wake-up from sleep / standby problems

This is related to my earlier post, but I've found a new cause and thought to post a new message to make it easier for others to find it if they are running into similar problems.
    My system
    T61 model 7662-CTO (built July 2007)
    Vista Business w/ SP1
Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M (driver version:  7.15.11.7597)
Intel Turbo Memory (driver version: 1.7.0.1029)
Intel Wireless card 4965AGN (driver version: 11.5.0.36)
    Thinkpad BIOS (version 7LETC4WW,  2.24)
no card reader or integrated webcam
I was having problems with Vista failing to wake-up after being put into sleep (or standby) mode. Instead of returning to the desktop, the system immediately crashes and reboots. After many hours, I reformatted the drive and re-installed Vista (business edition). Before running the Lenovo system update, I installed Vista Service Pack 1, then I ran Windows Update and installed any remaining update hotfixes. (I never delayed restarting the machine when prompted)
I incrementally began installing Lenovo drivers, and after the Power Management driver determined that hibernate was working.
The 'sleep' option was unavailable until I installed the Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M drivers. Then sleep worked!
Note: Intel Turbo Memory driver was uninstalled at this time.
After all other lenovo programs were installed, I installed the driver for the Intel Turbo Memory. I put the computer to sleep, and it crashed/rebooted upon being woken up.
I uninstalled the Turbo Memory driver from the Device Manager, and normal sleep -> wakeup function resumed.
Because the sleep / standby feature requires the Nvidia Quadro drivers, and the Vista OS and the Intel Turbo Memory must properly work together for the turbo memory to work, I imagine the failure involves some driver mismatch between these three. I cannot recall now whether this issue was present when I first received the machine over a year ago (pre-installed Vista Ultimate, service pack 1 not even out yet). Perhaps Vista SP1 made some change that the Turbo Memory driver doesn't like, particularly with the Nvidia Quadro drivers in the mix too.
Just FYI for anyone interested or curious.

Remove the two aftermarket memory modules and observe the results.

  • T500 Standby Problem

I recently purchased a T500 to replace my old T42P and am having a problem with the power saving settings that I can't solve.  For reasons that are unclear to me, when left idle, the machine will go into standby mode (even when it is using power from a wall socket and it is not supposed to go on standby).  This would not be a big issue except that once this happens I cannot awaken it from standby by any of the usual methods (briefly pressing the power button or using some keyboard combination). I am force to do a hard reboot by holding down the power button for +4 seconds.
Does anyone have any insights about why the machine is entering standby and then not coming out of it normally?  I've looked at all of the power settings and cannot fathom what is wrong.  They are essentially the same as the ones I had on my T42P, which did not have this problem.

OK, I talked with Lenovo (actually IBM) help desk about this and they recommended the following:
Do the following while USB devices are disconnected.  All of these items are found at migr-70443:
update the bios to most recent version (v1.20-1.01 as of 15 Dec 2008) if not already at the latest
    reload/update the intel chipset driver
    uninstall Lenovo Fingerprint software
(my note for XP, use control panel, add/remove software)
F1 into bios - clear internal fingerprint data
(my note, I found that I also needed to clear the TPM chip)
install the new Lenovo Fingerprint software (v3.2.0.275 as of 26 Oct 2008)
install patch for the fingerprint driver
(my note, the only patch available is migr-67245 which is Vista-only, so apparently this last step doesn't apply to XP)
When re-enrolling fingerprint data, do so without USB devices plugged in, so that there's no issues with shared IRQs (which are used by the fingerprint reader as it is also a usb device)
I've done steps 1 through 5 for an XP install.  I'll post back if this didn't work.

  • Standby Problem - 42inch AV55*D -

Simply wont switch on - get red light, wont turn on, a weak green light flashes momentarily, but from digging it seems this a common issue with Toshibas and can be fixed by a TV repairman?
    Any other info?

The post, "Manage Energy Management" in my Blog explains more about the Lenovo Energy Management. But the standby mode should only come on after a period of inactivity. In your case, there is activity when the standby comes on so there is some other problem and not because of the Energy Management. Suggest you return to the reseller unless somebody in the Forum has a solution to this problem.

  • Portege R100 standby problem

    Dear friends,
I have a problem with my newly bought Portege R100. When I try to put it in stand by mode (or hybernate mode, for that matter), it starts the process and then stops it and displays an error message saying that it gets into conflict with the keyboard drive and I might need to update this.
Obviously when I try to update it, it does not show any update for keyboard drivers.
I was wondering if somebody has experienced the same problem and how you solved it.
    Thanks
    Riccardo

    Hey there ,
I believe the error message that you get is 'The device driver for the Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural PS/2 Keyboard device is preventing the machine from entering standby'
The solution for that will be either to update the Adobe Type Manager or to uninstall it if you are not using the application.
    Cheers
