A suggestion--please make Itunes behave better when updating library

Whenever iTunes is running Updating Library, if I switch to another application, every 15-20 seconds iTunes pulls itself back and gives itself top level focus. I KNOW the library is updating. Why do I need to be reminded of this every 15 seconds. Basically, while the library is updating, I can't use my computer for anything else. Please make the "Updating Library" window stay in the background when the user has tabbed away to another application. Thanks!

Suggestion: Please make the Combine Files dialog modal to the Acrobat application instance.

I often combine files into a PDF with Acrobat (XI). It is annoying that the main Acrobat window is shown while the Combine Files dialog window is open. I often review other PDF files during the process of selection for later combination. It happens far too often, that I accidentally close the Combine Files instance main Acrobat window during the process and subsequently lose the already specified file selection. I would suggest to make the Combine Files dialog modal for the Acrobat instance so that users would have to close the Combine Files dialog first, before closing the instance. I would appreciate this in a future update. Thanks a lot.

ITunes freezes randomly when updating 60Gb Video

Had a 40Gb Photo. Now have new 60Gb Video. Have updated iTunes software. Have update iPod software. When I plug in to load songs and pictures, iTunes will randomly freeze up. Have left it as long as 6 hours in case it was working in the background. In force quit,iTunes says 'Not Responding'. Have to hard-remove, as force-quit will not unlock the computer. This is random, it has loaded 18 (out of 4,000), or 256, or 857, or any other number. Does not seem to lock up on any particular song. Have changed setup and tried to load in small numbers, it seems to work for music (though this is not optimum or correct). Won't work with pictures. If it freezes, all the pictures that were previously loaded in small numbers are lost.
Someone suggested removing the preferences, but I can't find out how .
to do this.

I had the same problem back at xmastime and I finally found that a plug-in called "multi plugin" which was installed by "evil lyrics" was causing the itunes crashes. It only crashed when syncing with the ipod. This was when the ipod was new so it was trying to load everything but itunes would crash after 5 or 10 minutes of syncing.
I got rid of it by uninstalling itunes, deleting the itunes program directory that was left behind, and reinstalling itunes. Once I did that everything worked fine.

ITunes apps freeze when updating

Within the last week or so there is an issue with various apps on iTunes where I try to download the updates on my home computer, but just as it gets to "processing file" it freezes. Then I cannot even quit the iTunes program - I have to Force Quit to get out. Any suggestions?

Go to folder "downloads" in iTunes music folder which is the temporary downloads folder for Tunes itself.
If there is any item within (as a leftover from a former download), delete it.
Delay gone.

1. Quit iTunes (if not possible, then force-quit)
2. Delete every folder under here...
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Downloads (Note: The "~" character, tilde, refers to your Home folder.)
3. Start iTunes and start your downloads again.

The correct file path for OSX Mavericks is:
~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications/Downloads/
In my particular case it happens when updating Apps, and stick in "processing files" steps. Once stuck it needs to be Force QUit to clear it. As to the folder location, that depends on where you havelocated your iTunes data. Your preferences set to open up the iTunes folder. In my case that's, ~/Music/iTunes_xxxxxx/iTunes Media/Downloads
The "xxxxxx"'s are a date code of the itunes data files installation.
Regardless where it is located, this deleting of the items in the folder may solve it. Be aware that you may be asked to validate your Apple ID again and verify any age restriceted content. You can monitor the progress of the downloads by click in the little box on the top right of the itunes menu. However in my case it did NOT fix the problem. Updates downloads continue to hang. You can see where downloads create the .tmp files/folders but seem to stick on many items while completing others. No rhyme or reason to it that I can see.
Also Pause All no longer works!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
and paste into:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

Itunes error 3002 when updating

im on iphone 4 ( 4.3.3 ) and i cant ride of error 3002 each time i try to update i`ve tried everything in this link :http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
i`ve tried another computer , editing host file, DFU mode, recovery mode, restoring, reinstalling itunes, updating itunes ( 10.5.1 )
nothing worked ! note that if i restore i get the error 2005 ?! ( remove all USB devices )

In my case (iPad2 updating to iOS 5.0), iPad entered into a continuous loop of rebooting and shutting down and not accepting any of the commands given by the buttons on it. Only apple sign was showing on the screen and disappearing with each cycle.
It turns out that the Apple "in-ear headphones with remote and mic" were defective and as soon as I unplugged it, the cycle was broken!!!
Just wanted to drop a line hoping that it may save some time to one of you.

ITunes very slow when updating ID3 tags

I've read about iTunes taking forever "processing file" when people have downloaded songs, but haven't seen a reference to this problem when changing the ID3 tags for songs within the program.
Sometimes it will take many seconds to complete this task, often with the "processing file" box showing up and sometimes with the spinning pinwheel too.
This hasn't always been such a slow process. Usually in the past my tags got updated instantaneously, even if I was changing, say, the album info for a whole batch of songs. More recently, iTunes has been consistently slow in carrying this out.
Any insights would be appreciated.

I also noticed that when iTunes updates the files, it opens multiple little windows with progress bars (I think so because I see only one window but with a very significant shadow -- which look like if there were several windows stacked).
I SINCERELY hope I'm WRONG when I think iTunes does all the updating in parallel, regardless how many songs there are to update............? That would explain a lot...

IPhone/iTunes backup error when updating to iOS 4.2

Just bought an Iphone 4 a few days ago and tried several times to update it to iOS 4.2.... it fails EVERY TIME when the iTunes tries to proceed the phone's backup. An error occur and closes the iTunes without updating the phone.
Such problem didn't happen when updating my iPad... really don't know how to skip this problem and finally update my iPhone properly.

PS. I already downloaded the iTunes again, tried to "restore" my iPhone but the same thing keeps happening...

ITunes 11 crashes when updating genius

Every time I try to update genius in my iTunes 11 it frezzes and shuts down, i have tried to uninstall iTunes and reinstall and other things, but i can't find a fix. Anyone who has a solution??

OK. I went to version 11 again and my crashing problem returned. iTunes crashes immediately when it opens. I turned off my wireless connection and restarted iTunes. It gave me an error that it couldn't connect to the store twice (even though I wasn't trying to browse the store). After that, it worked fine. So, now I can at least use iTunes without it crashing. If I try to go to the store, it crashes again. So, I'm making progress. There must be something between Windows 8 and iTunes 11 that causes issues. It worked fine on this laptop after I did the update while I was at work today, but doesn't work at home, so I'm wondering if this has something to do with profiles. I'm pretty sure it isn't my firewall, but it could have something to do with my user profile or Windows security settings that change when I am at home versus when I'm at work.

I have a Suggestion to make iTunes better.

I really have no idea if someone else has had this idea posted or not but it is a really good suggestion (i think). I sometimes find myself surfing iTunes at night just looking for music. Sometimes I run into artists that I sort of dig. My biggest problem is being compulsive buyer (YES I admit it). One thing that I do to control this impulse, is I put it on the list... that's right the WISH LIST, or as I like to think of it... the I'll Think About It, or the Maybe's list. I really feel that iTunes should get one, because I am always forgetting the names of the artists/bands that I run into late night surfing. A list of some sort would just make it easier to find the artists later.

Just create a normal playlist and drag the tracks you want to remember into it from the iTunes Store. That will save them for future purchase
Be aware that in some cases, tracks may be removed from the iTMS for various reasons, so depending on how long you wait to purchase, you may find that a given track is no longer available. So if you know you want a given track, you may be wise to purchase it when you know it's available. For this reason, it's not a good idea to use the Shopping Cart as a "wish list". If an item gets removed from the iTunes Store before you purchase, it can in some cases corrupt your Shopping Cart and prevent you from buying anything further until you contact the iTunes Store and have them clear your cart.

Suggestion: Please make a Visual Studio Solution Explorer that is similar to Windows 8 Start Screen

We have monitors now that are enormous and it is now the norm to develop on three or more monitors. Yet we still try to crowd project navigation info that pleads to be fully visualized into a tiny window as if expanding it is somehow a waste of space.
I mention Windows 8 start screen in the title of this post. I have no particular love for the start screen except that it is a different spin on a strict hierarchical display of information. I like that it has the objective of using all available
screen space to present information that would otherwise be shown in a tiny corner of the screen. So my suggestion in its most general form is for you guys to find a way to use the entire screen to allow a developer to quickly and easily navigate a large
VS project.
For example, even if I fully expand the Solution Explorer to take up the space of an entire monitor the top level nodes of my project take up a tiny fraction of the available screen space - I have to drill down up to 12 levels to reach my files. And when
I get to the point where I think I see the file I want, the higher level folders have scrolled off the screen so I loose my place in the project.
A couple of suggestions for a new Solution Explorer:
Edit: Make the Solution Explorer more like the Windows 8 Start screen or a file directory browser in the sense that Start Screen is a full-screen navigation screen versus a control that is primarily desigend to be docked. If I maximize Solution Explorer
on my monitor the MOST screen space it will use is about 20% down the left edge of my screen. Even with 80% of my screen left EMPTY, I am clicking and clicking and scrolling and clicking and scrolling in order to navigate to where I need to be. /Edit
Show an always-visible breadcrumb across the top of the window so the user can navigate up quickly and also maintain a sense of location within the project.
Show folders and files horizontally and vertically. USE THE ENTIRE WINDOW! Allow different views just as we see in Windows file explorer.
Allow (large) user defined icons to be associated with projects, folders and files. Instead of showing the same icon for every project in a solution, default to a unique icon. Thats why we use icons, right?
Allow projects and folders to have foreground/background color properties.
"Scope to this" on the context menu is great... please add the root name on the tab.
It would also be very helpful to display the full directory and solution name on the VS title bar to avoid confusion when working with different versions of the same project. There are a couple add-ons that do this... why has it become necessary for add-ons.

APPLE!! Please make iTunes buffer network files!!!

I have my library on a network drive. All files are added as if they were local. My videos freeze and then jump ahead in real time when I watch them. I want apple to add a feature to force itunes to buffer all files so I can watch my tv shows without having to pause and rewind every 5 minutes because it skipped while reading the file across the network.
I am streaming these videos over a wireless-n network so you don't need to suggest network speed. I can download an entire episode of a tv show to the local machine fairly quickly, but when itunes tries to play it across the network it skips every few minutes.
Please just add a feature to recognize when files are not local and buffer them like other internet files.

How to make itunes recognize ipod when in disk mode

my ipod classic was in a reboot loop and after reading up about it i put my ipod into disk mode and connected it to my pc to restore it to factory settings. However when i connected it itunes hasnt recognized it despite it appearing in my computor folder. i'm really stuck for ideas so any help at all would be very much appreciated

I have the same problem, but my ipod stays in disk mode all the time. Won't show in iTunes.tried Apples suggestion to restore in disk utility, but no dice! I have tried everything and now I will give up, maybe it's too old?
