A suspicious dialogue box is appearing on my Mac, with a checkbox for using searchmoose. How can I get rid of this?

This morning when I booted up my MacBook Pro, I got a suspicious-looking dialogue box that says "Update Alert!" and something about downloading a utility in preparation for "the new version of OSX." A checkbox below offered searchmoose as my search engine. I unchecked that and clicked on Cancel, but the dialogue box appeared again a little while ago. It looks almost like an official Mac message - but not quite. Any suggestions about getting rid of this greatly appreciated!

  • When I go to type a name or number from my contacts on my iPhone 4, next to the "To:" box, a picture that was previously in my photo library pops up, how can I get rid of this bug?

Exactly how it sounds, my mother in law is having troubles with her iPhone. When she types anything into the "To:" box, this photo, previously in her photo library, pops up.

    Hello Rchrdrvr94,
I would suggest 3 things here. First if you haven't already, Restart the iPhone with tis procedure from
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that does not resolve the issue, then I recommend closing all the apps.
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
From the Home screen, click the Home button twice.
Tap and hold on the app.
When it starts to jiggle, tap the - to close it.
Double-click the Home button and try opening the app again.
And if that fails to resolve the issue, then I suggest backing up and restoring your iPhone with iTunes.
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software

    All the best,

After opening my yahoo mail window, I keep getting a very short and narrow dialogue box with the words "log into Xmarks" I cannot ... when it pops up, always upper left of my laptop screen and I try to get into my yahoo mail web page, I get a DING sound and cannot enter it ... everything is frozen. I have to hit CNTRL + ALT + ESC to get rid of it - and then reload my Firefox browser to get back to my yahoo e-mail page ... fortunately for me, Firefox re-stores a previous session ... How can I get rid of this intrusive thing, and what is it? Thanks in advance ... Ted Beaudoin, Welland, ON, Canada

I followed your link supplied, #5 below is an issue, I have no "Edit..." button to click. There is a "Network Account Server: Join..." button.
How to disable the root user
Mac OS X v10.6 and later
    1. From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
    2. From the View menu choose Accounts.
    3. Click on the lock and authenticate with an administrator account.
    4. Click Login Options....
    5. Click the "Edit..." button at the bottom right
    6. Click the "Open Directory Utility..." button.
    7. Click the lock in the Directory Utility window.
    8. Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
    9. Choose Disable Root User from the Edit menu.
Also, In the left area of this Accounts screen it reads:
    My Account
    Dick (Admin)
    Other Accounts
    Guest Account (Disabled)
    Jane (Admin)

Before opening Firefox 4 this message appears:"TypeError:Components.classes(id)Undefined". How can I get rid of this

Try the suggested idea above. I just disabled all the add-ons which were not compatible with FF 5 and did a FF restart. That fixed the problem. I then enabled each one, one at a time, with a FF restart until the problem came back. I then disabled that add-on.

  • Everytime i open Mozilla Firefox appears several messages saying that there were errors on adding toolbar element or menu element. How can i get rid of this?

I changed my operative system in my computer to windows 7 and add several plugins to my mozilla firefox, and after that i couldn´t find the plus signal to open a new page in a new tab.So, everytime i opened a new page it oppened a new firefox window, and this was very boring. So, i tryed to open mozila in safe mode and tryed to add some extras and i think it was because of this that i started to have several boxes from java script application opening and telling about several errors everytime i open a new window in mozilla. The errors are the following:
"error on adding toolbar element:NS_error Unexected, component returned failure code:0x8000fff (NS_Error_Unexpected)...id:places-New Place
    or:id:Plus-Circles
    or:id:Plus-Profile
    or:id:Wallet
    or:id:Web fonts
error on adding menu element:NS_Error_Unexpected, component returned failure code:0x8000fff(NS_Error_unexpected) id:Places-New Place
    id:Plus-Circles
    id:Plus-Profile
    id:Wallet
    id:Web fonts
    id:"
The problem now is that despite the errors appears all the time i open firefox, the good thing is that the plus signal now appears and i can open a new page in a new tab but that page opens at the same time in a new window!!! I mean the page appears in a new tab and in a new window and the errors are appearing all the time i open mozilla! What can i do to get rid of this???

    Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • How can I get rid of this dialogue box that seems to be related to Pixel Bender?

I recently installed CS6 (not the cloud) on Windows 8 64 Bit.  On opening I get a dialogue box, which goes away if I click on "OK" after which CS6 loads.  I reinstalled, but I still get the dialogue box.  How can I fix it?

    right click>click "run as administrator".
if that fails, run in compatibility mode for win 7.
    if that fails:
    uninstall ps cs6.
    run the cleaner, http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
    restart your computer.
    reinstall ps cs6.

    Writelady,
I do not know of any such option. I don't think that it is even possible at this time, however it doesn't mean that maybe sometime in the future Apple or someone else will make a way to do such as your request.
I do however think that you should let Apple know your opinion if you have not done such yet. You can give them product feedback at the following link. https://www.apple.com/feedback/safari.html
    I hope that this helps,

Click on the More Info button and ignore the web page, go to iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete the MobileMe account. Next to go the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.  That will stop those messages.

I've got GlimmerBlocker but I'm not seeing this window.....
Try unisntalling GB, instructions here >  http://glimmerblocker.org/wiki/Uninstall
    Restart your Mac. Try Safari.
    You can always reinstall GB.
BTW...  GlimmerBlocker is an ad blocker, not anti virus software.
