Thank you Apple for removing the totally harmless and extremely useful IconProject's shortcuts. I bet that it was really annoying for you to have people harmlessly customize their phones in ways that you did not predict.
Also, thank you very much for removing the newsstand hide feature (don't say that it was a bug. If anything, it's now that the thing is bugged). Because, well, you know what's best for me. Thank you for looking after me.
Lastly, an honest thank you for making my choices easier. My next phone will be an android.

I've been using an aluminum G4 Powerbook for the last 4 years, and just received my new 24" (3.06 Ghz. iMac.
Wow!
What pleased me most on day one was the setup process. Knowing that I'd want to transfer a lot of files from the laptop to the new iMac, so I started the laptop up in "Target mode" and then turned on the new iMac for the first time. At the prompt, ("Transfer files from another computer?") I simply clicked twice to start that process. When finished, the iMac started up with all of my apps, files, and settings just where they should be, which makes it the easiest setup I've ever had with a new computer. Two clicks! How easy can you get?
Since I've been using an external hard drive and "Time Machine" on my laptop, I simply plugged that drive into the new iMac, and everything continued on, as if there was no change. Nice.
And... What this huge monitor is doing for my graphics work is making me very happy. No more squinting, and of course, much faster.
Thank you, to the whole Apple team.

I too have just made the upgrade from an Al Powerbook to the 24" 3.06. So far with the system and Leopard - no problems and an easy transfer. I am very impressed with it. I'd been cruising these boards for a few weeks prior to my purchase and was a little concerned with all the discussions on random shutdowns, warble-ly right speakers, dead pixels, overheating, too hot upper left corners, airport not working after 10.5.3, power supply cable not soldered enough, PRAM, and on and on... But, I'm loving it. Absolutely no problems over its first couple days.
Now on the Mighty Mouse... - not exactly a fan, but it works. If I can't get used to it (touchy side buttons, spastic scroll wheel on zooming google maps) its easy change to a different one if I can't deal.
Still looking forward to Boot Camp. We'll see how that goes.

I am disabled physically and cognitively.
I want to download Google Chrome on my iPad as well the flash for my receiving videos on Facebook, etc.
I was receiving Facebook videos from friends globally, without issue when for the past 3 days or so, facebook states I need a Flash player to view videos.
Please would you be so kind as to assist me further? I would like direct links to download both applications.

You can download Chrome from the app store. There is no 'Flash Player' for iOS. There never has been and there never will be. Adobe has terminated all efforts to develop mobile flash.

A Big Thank You too Apple, and Advance Electronics.

This is a thank you first to Apple, for designing such a great laptop, and secondly to the tech's at my local Apple Tech Shop, Advance Electronics, especially Scott.
About a week ago, an Apple Laptop users worst nightmare happened to me.
And it was my own fault.
I split a FULL cup of three cream, three sugar coffee on the top of my MacBook Pro. I won't go into how; I know I am a GIANT IDIOT for ever allowing this to happen, and I literally felt physically ill after doing this.
So, I spill this Extra Large cup of Tim Horton's finest directly on the keyboard of my MBP. The screen automatically goes blank. It has powered down. I leap into action.
I flip the MBP upside down, allowing most of the liquid to drain, while yanking the Magsafe (did I mention I love this connector?) and popping the battery.
Keeping the MBP upside down, I look for a tool small enough to open the RAM door; no luck.
I call the local tech shop. They have no Mac Techs there on the weekend, but they do have some other talented techs. I have no choice, I need immediate action or my poor MBP is doomed.
I bring it to the Tech shop. They make no promises, warn me that by having a non-Apple Certified tech work on it, my warranty is void; I am not deterred; spilling coffee on it has already voided the warranty, and I have nothing to lose at this point.
One week later I have my MBP back. They had to replace the keyboard (can you imagine trying to clean that sucker out?) and the topcase. That's it. everything else is in working order.
No doubt my own fast action had something to do with this, but without the design and build quality from Apple, and the skill of the first tech to work on my MBP, Scott, I would have a very expensive hunk of scrap right now, instead of my beloved MBP.

Thank You iPOd Apple

I am now on my 5th hour and 6th download ttrying to get my new 8gb nano to sync with my vista PC.
In the device panel it tells me there is no drivers and these cannot be located.
I would like to thank Ipod/Apple for runing my Christmas Day.
It was bought directly from them and it will be going directly back.
It is not just the money, but a Christmas day that will no be repeated and I am sittng here, so anoyed!!
I hope they enjoyed theirs!!

An Apple ID which consists of a non-Apple address can perfectly well be used to create and sign into an iCloud account (most Apple ID's take this form). Your problem is that you can't create an iCloud account on Windows: you can only do it on a Mac or an iOS device. Once created on one of those you can sign into it on Windows using the iCloud Control Panel.

More of a thank you than a complaint.

Yesterday my original iPhone finally gave up. For over 3 years this phone has been an example of the quality products Apple continues to create, maintain and release. This phone has worked through falling out of a second floor of an apartment, a dip into a sink, a fall on concrete (breaking a corner), and many other bumps, scrapes and drops along the way. Up until the last 4 months I never used a case, only after the speaker piece refused to stay in place did I! By far this has been the best built phone I have ever used. Prior to the iPhone I experienced numerous phones that stopped accepting the charges, and yet never once has that been the case with this phone. So while I will hate that this means the end of my iPhone, I can't wait to get a new one. Please continue making great products, and I will surely stay a customer for life! (If only my Macbook was as tough of my phone was!)

Did a clean install 10.9.4. on a stock Fusion HD. When I run "diskutil list" via Terminal, everything is wrong. I have "EFI" and "apple Boot Boot OSX in every dev/disk** How do I fix? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you

It appears as if my startup disk has been reversed and not using the fusion ssd portion as it should. At least its now reversed as to what it used to be originally before. the 128gb ssd used to be on top. Is my mac booting fusion correctly? Thank you for responding as I was about to reformat.

Disappearing Songs on iPod - Thank you Apple!

4000 songs gone, about 1 months of work ripping my CD Lib lost. Thank you Apple Engineers!
Background:
When I Rip a CD, I store temporaly the files on my PC HD, then I update the iTune Music List, then I synchronize the iPod. Afterward, I delete the file from my PC but keep the song names in the iTune libray list. They are flagged with an error "cannot locate the original file", but it has never been a problem, and so it is specified in the help on line.
iTune 5.0.1 Upgrade:
When I upgraded to 5.0.1, all the files on the Ipod with a file name in iTune Library that cannot be located on the PC HD, disappeared from the iPOD. I still have a 4000 songs list in iTune but no more files in the iPod. That is marvelous!

I concur that you have identified a serious design flaw in the iPod / iTunes interface.
I encountered a similar disaster when I moved to a new machine (windows). I installed iTunes, connected my fully loaded ipod with all my songs, ratings, playlists, etc. and proceeded to connect to the iPod. I didn't notice the small print in the connection dialog box that comes up to tell you that the libary in iTunes did not match that in the iPod, clicked yes and the system overwrote all of my iPod information with 'nothing'. Several months of organizing and rating songs were lost.
Now, several months later, I have yet another disaster in the making. I have two profiles on my Windows machine (thanks to my local IT system afministrator), with 'My iTunes' library files created in both. For god knows what reason, both these files have been corrupted (e.g. lost my playlists, ratings, links to song folders and neither matches the configuration on my iPod!!!
The system has no ability to upload the config and song information from my iPod to iTunes, and all iTunes does is threaten to over-write the iPod. This will once again wipe out all of my information.
It seems to me that the Engineers at Apple need to change the linkage between iPod and iTunes giving the end-user more control to upload or download info from an iPod and to Merge the songs, lists, etc.

1. It is never a good idea to include personal info like your email address or Apple ID in a post on an open forum.
2. The email you received DOES NOT say your Apple ID cannot be used to unlock this iPad. The email informs you that your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad. Fortunately the iPad is yours. The message confirms that. If your Apple ID was used to unlock an iPad that was not yours your would then know to change your password. Since the iPad is yours you do not need to change your password.

And then when he phones back as we agreed he's not actually on the phone, it's just a voice saying Apple Support is now closed! What on earth is going on at apple support I wonder.
Anyway, the original problem: an application called JotNot Pro fails to update. The error message says something like "you cannot update this cos either you bought it with a different Apple ID or somebody else bought it."
Neither applies. Can anybody help?

I had an awful time getting apple to accept my username and my credit card but finally got it to accept and purchased facetime App .It downloaded correctly and put an Icon on my toolbar,but would not operate as it said my email address was in use by another ID. So I have inadvertently created 2 ID''s . My question is how do I get rid of the one so that I can use Facetime on the latter ceated one? thank you very much, Tom

Go to Settings>iTunes and App store and sign out of existing account and sign into the one you want.
Note:
- Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
- To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

I have an 11 yr old who I want to use my apple id on our Iphones jointly. We do not want her to have an email address currently because of some issues. Anyway, does both phones being connected to the same apple id mean that when IMessage is used that we both get the same messages? IF both devices have the same Apple ID signed in ; it will believe the devices are meant to both recieve them. My biggest recommandation is you can create an email address for your daughter and in the future when she gets her own email address she can chang ethe primary email address to the up to date one.

Yes, under the Settings for the store, you can turn off the auto download for purchases, that way if you purchase an app on another device it will not automatically download on that device. You would need to do this on both your iPad and iPhone.
